Bruce Arians: “I Was Really Bummed The Way It Turned Out”

February 9th, 2023

Bucco Bruce Arians is buzzing around Radio Row today in Phoenix and hugging up some of his friends.

One is Pat McAfee, the former Colts Pro Bowl punter and host of The Pat McAfee Show.

Arians checked in briefly and chimed in a little on the Buccaneers.

“I’m supposed to be the consultant. I didn’t do too good of a damn job,” Arians said of his role as an advisor to general manager Jason Licht.

Arians said he enjoys his role and doesn’t get the itch to return to coaching. He says he gets his fix at practice, then talks to coaches (and presumably GM Jason Licht) and heads out to play golf in the afternoons.

Like most Bucs fans, Arians was let down by the 2022 season.

“I was really bummed the way it turned out as far as our record and guys getting let go, but I was really happy with the transition [to Todd Bowles,] Arians said. He didn’t talk more about staff changes and player performance.

Arians acknowledged that it’s a tough road hiring an offensive coordinator with a defense-first head coach. If the playcaller is top shelf, then he’s going to get a head coaching job elsewhere quickly. And Arians said being a new playcaller and head coach at the same time is brutal sledding for most because there is no time in the day to build necessary relationships with defensive players.

Arians mentioned nothing about stepping aside or cutting back his duties this season.  Joe is curious to see if Arians is at the NFL Scouting Combine.

If he’s not there with the Bucs contingent, that could be a sign that he’s got a foot and a half out the door of One Buc Palace.

    Well then
    Remove the obstacle
    Fire Bowles

I would be willing to bet hes hoping to get a position with the Cardinals and I would not blame him.

Please let BA go. He is of no value to this organization. He no doubt makes a big salary for nothing. Quips every once in a while on the way to the golf course. Look how his hand picked successors have done? Why is he still here?

  4. LOL Says:

Yeah, surely a great transition into the Bowles era there Bruce. LOL

Lies Arians the reason we stink so bad. He knew the team had fallen off tremendously, so he haul tailed and let Bum Bowles take over with Bumeftwich

I’m sure this plea will finally get through.

A great transition into the Bowles era which is losing seasons 4 out of 5 years and making the playoffs only once albeit with a losing season record!!! Don’t expect much!!

My four favorite Bucs………..Brad Johnson, Jon Gruden, Tom Brady & Bruce Arians….(figure it out)

So…..Don’t pick on Bruce……he got it done.

  9. SlyPirate Says:

BA was the perfect HC for the Bucs. He’s been worthless or maybe worse as a consultant.

  10. BrianBucs Says:

Hey Bruce, do you mean the transition from winning to losing?

  11. NEfan Says:

So the ground hog finally stuck hisnhead out. Like the transition to Bowles. Hmmm, what was there to like??? BA killed the Bucs. Blows killed the Goat.

This lousy situation falls directly on Byron Leftwich. DIRECTLY for Sabotaging our entire season. It falls on Bowles AND Licht for not doing something about that SOB and cutting the head off of that snake.

My question is WHY DIDN’T SOMEONE GET RID THAT BENEDICT ARNOLD???

The season could have been saved. Morale could have been restored, and just maybe in the Super Bowl. We had no chance at all with saboteur Leftwich telegraphic every play to every frigging defensive coordinator in all of the NFL. NO CHANCE!

Run it up the gut 2 out of every 3 downs on over 60% of the plays. Why didn’t somebody, ANYBODY, do something about it? Everyone knew how to beat us because he made sure that they could. Only times we won was the first game of the year. Besides that at least half Tom had to give Leftwich the finger and put it on his back. The other couple of wins by a single point or two…. Luck

Butt hurt Bryon didn’t get the Bucs head coaching job and he SURE made them pay for it! Suckers just kept letting him screw us over and I’d like to know WHY!?!

Those with short term memories certainly voice the “what have you done for me lately” philosophy very well.  BA has my everlasting thanks to his contribution as head coach to our winning culture and high expectations after the previous 10 or 12 years of losing seasons.

  14. D-Rok Says:

Us fans were bummed, too. 🙁

  15. CJ Buc Says:

One thing I find curious about this whole mess is to my knowledge no player had come to the defense of Bowles. And next year we should all break out our creamsicle gear like it’s 1976

  16. NEfan Says:

    CJ, great point!
