Have The Bucs Finally Had An Epiphany?

January 2nd, 2023

Discusses offense.

Just based on yesterday’s game, it seems someone (Todd Bowles, Byron Leftwich, Tom Brady?) decided it’s a smart thing to unleash the offense.

Mike Evans totally blew up and Tom Brady threw for 432 yards without a pick. Something happened.

Erin Andrews of FOX Sports, who worked the game as a sideline reporter, claimed on the air that there was a new determination with the Bucs to throw more on first down. Bucs coach Todd Bowles was asked about that today in his day-after presser and he didn’t exactly deny it.

“I think we get blitzed less on first down,” Bowles began. “Obviously [Brady] has had more time to throw the football. And play-action has been good for us all year. So we try to do more of it.”

Joe sure is hoping this offense has finally turned the corner.

And as far as the crazies that comment on this site screaming that Joe should finally admit after nearly one of the worst years in NFL history at trashing an offense, Joe should somehow kneel before Leftwich and confess that he’s Bill Walsh, Jr., what is wrong with you people?

First, Leftwich ought to have been launched for how he destroyed this offense months ago.

Second, to somehow let Leftwich off the hook for his horrendous coaching based on yesterday is like saying John Gotti shouldn’t have spent time in the hole because he bankrolled a fireworks display in his neighborhood each Fourth of July.

Maybe Leftwich is the “Teflon Coach” and he murdered his old game plan for fear of being wacked.

  2. Goatfarmer Says:

Ya well, I don’t trust Todd’s Bowels at all. 15 games of having cuffs on the arms and legs of his passing offense, losses to teams like the Panthers, Steelers, and Browns, all because his stubborn ego didn’t want to admit that his offense resembled mating sloths. Nor did the bonehead want to admit that all of us watching were right long ago.

Yeah boy that’s some great coaching, Toad. Take the short bus out of town.

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Sure hope so. As do most fans.

  4. Onetrickpony Says:

Saw Brady wave off Lefty when apparently tried to send in players and obviously a change in call.
    He has to go…..please

  5. robert Says:

careful joe…….we been saying this ALL year. I believe in the offense when TB blowes off lefty. We have to find a way to overcome toilet bowles HORRIBLE in game decisions. like not using time outs, not going for it at the right time. WTF was with not going for it almost on their goal line in the 2nd qtr going into the half. then not using timeouts to take another shot. then in the 3rd he goes for it with a long 2 yards?? a thing of beauty Brady waving off lefty. now if we can waive of bowels

  6. Onetrickpony Says:

    Goatfarmer, is exactly right

  7. Jack Clark Says:

Hopefully Byron Leftwich will win another Super Bowl for Joe to let him off the hook 🙏

I don’t believe anything Bowles says, so who knows? Don’t even get me started on Halfwitch…

But I’m hopeful we continue to do what we KNOW IS EFFECTIVE:
    – Play action
    – pre snap motion
    – mixing in tempo / no huddle
    – lining up Evans on mismatches

TBH If we continue to do even half those things, I’ll be shocked. But we’ve seen it works. We saw it against Cinci and Carolina.

  9. Jmarkbuc Says:

Umm … we won because Brady had time to stand and wait for ME to run down the field.

It wasn’t t the powerhouse running game.

  10. LongSeason Says:

As to whether this was Leftwich that was at fault and he should be at Subway making me a sammich or it was Bowles holding the offense back with to conservative approach and should be a barista at Starbucks I don’t know which is true. 🤔
It could be both Bowles and Leftwich agreed to go conservative. Maybe it was the result of all the offensive line problems. Maybe it was other injuries. Maybe it was too much of a reliance on defense.
Maybe Brady wanted to go shorter quicker routes and build the running game.
Who’s fault? I don’t care who done it.
If Sunday’s game is an indication, then maybe Bowles, Leftwich and Brady learned that ‘No Risk It No Biscuit’ works. Hopefully they will go with the more aggressive approach going forward. If they do, then maybe Brady does come back.
We will see over the next two games. Do we continue to Unleash ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ or do we corral the offense and pen it up again?
    LFG

  11. Deano Says:

That was the plan all along, hide the playbook, barely win enough games to back into the playoffs and then unleash the hounds

  12. Deano Says:

Oh yeah and keep fans miserably on the edge of their seats all Season

  13. Cobraboy Says:

One quarter against a “gassed” pass rush does NOT mean this O has “turned the corner.”

  14. unbelievable Says:

You’re wrong cobra- just ask Byron Halfwit.

They did once, therefore everything is fine because, ya know, they’ve done it before now.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bucs had no such thing…Brady just got sick of bad play calling and took over.

I swear, I wish he would become our head coach next year…but no way we can pay more than FOX/DISNEY.

  16. Darin Says:

Overreaction Monday Joe lol. One half of good football and people Wana crown Lefty!! Funny. The whole staff should have and should be launched if and when it goes back to usual. For some reason the Panthers singled Evans with no safety help all game and the db let him run right by. Ain’t happening again. We’ll see how nutso adapts. I’m guessing not good

  17. Suresh Says:

So, now that the team is not gassed by running the BA offense, can we go all the way to superbowl Coach Bowles?

  18. Dubcity Says:

You don’t have to believe fans that support our coaches.. believe the player..

Brady in interview says team has dealt w injuries

Mike Evans in interview says team has dealt w injuries

    Chris Godwin same

    Tristan Wirfs

    You can keep going

    The coaches have said it.

    Former players have said it…

Yes but im to believe they’re all lying and the fans that believe injuries are to blame not coaching.. we’re the crazy ones.. and the fans sitting watching are some brilliant savants…

Fans blame coaches.. thats all yall know how to do

I believe the players.. and former players

Chidi on twitter.. Michael Clayton on the radio.. Brooks has mentioned injuries..

How about non Bucs.. Shannon Sharp mentioned injuries Friday

Ryan Clark whose a Bucs skeptic mentioned injuries

You can keep going.. you can’t call plays the players cannot run.. if players don’t block on PA, the QB gets killed.. if you run creative runs and team doesn’t block it ends up as a loss… can’t get creative if the plays aren’t working in practice..

The team is getting Healthy. The OL is getting healthy.. Bucs are about to surprise some people..

But keep blaming coaches like fans blamed Arians during the superbowl run or last year for every single loss.. or during the Jameis years… or Dirk.. or Lovie (he was bad)… or Raheem… or Schiano.. or Gruden (he destroyed the roster)… its not always about coaching… talent wins games.. especially in the NFL where all the teams are close

  19. Cchead Says:

Offense was not great if you take away the 21 points scored while running no hudlle.Earth to Bowles run the fooking no huddle more.

  20. brooks Says:

    Spot on cobraboy.
Its only one game or one quarter we looked good. Last week it was 6 minutes. Need 60 to be the best!!

  21. calloway christopher Says:

    LMBAO at this nonsense…

  22. C2asante Says:

Every failure is the coach’s fault, and every success is credited to brady. like Coach BL made him throw all the interceptions and fumble away the ball and game s just a few weeks ago. I guess the Coaches made him blow off part of training camp to work on his failing marriage or try to force his way to Miami when the Bucs still controlled his rights. He is the Goat and undoubtedly snatched victory out of sure defeat a few times this year. but he is also the 45-year-old who appeared uninspired, disinterested and missed wide open receivers many times this season too.

  23. Irishmist Says:

The only time the offense has looked good is during the first series of the last couple games when we have gone off of Bruce Arians script, or when Brady runs a no huddle. We shouldn’t be hiding the Playbook we should be burning the Playbook.

  24. SufferingSince76 Says:

Let’s see what happens against Atlanta before believing Bowles has seen the light.

  25. Jake Says:

3 good drives in 1 quarter means 15 other drives were bad. If that mattered, carolina rushed for over 300 yards the week before but not against tampa. Put your woodies away and realize that was 1 quarter in 1 game with a team with a losing record. Tampa even needed overtime to beat a 4 win team. they just suck. get over it.

  26. Mike Says:

We learned that no huddle works to our advantage as Brady can more easily dissect defenses and it slows the pass rush. We MUST run more no huddle if we want to win.

  27. Aceofaerospace Says:

Win the Super Bowl this year and I’ll forget about the misery them knuckleheads put us through this year.

  28. Bojim Says:

I don’t give BL a pass for yesterday. Bowles either for that matter. All those games we should’ve won or at least not blown out.

  29. Digger direct me Says:

Anyone think they just been dogging the league all year..so they could get an advantage?# conspiracytheory

  30. smokeshow Says:

THE HURRY-UP HEAVY PASS ATTACK OFFENSE IS WHAT THE BUCS ARE AWESOME AT. We’ve know that the whole season.

The Leftwich slow plodding run-in-up-the-gut offense is what has cost us all freaking season.

F Leftwich and Blows and just let Brady run the freaking offense for the rest of the season!!!!

  31. Goatfarmer Says:

Just saw BA’s Ring of Honor acceptance speech — he’s the one who put the foot on the gas. After telling the fans to be loud, it forced the comatose dufus duo Bowelswurst to give the calls to Tom and the no huddle.

    Duh.

Maybe there is some respect to salvage yet this season.

But with these two leading the ship toward the iceberg, it’s highly improbable.

  32. Crickett Baker Says:

DubCity had a very well-written post and opinion. Other than that, this team has been UTMOST confusing this year and Bowles seemed clueless until a week ago. He already wears two hats DC and HC and now some of you want Brady to wear two as QB and OC. That is pretty lame, to me. I don’t think Tom wants two jobs and to only be paid for one.

  33. Purplepirate Says:

    “Something happened.”

2 back up cornerbacks getting the start for Carolina happened.

  34. Lander D Dunbar Says:

You’re absolutely right Dubcity, some of the truest words ever spoken on here! But unfortunately most fans on here won’t accept the truth bc it discredits their perspectives
