Buccaneers Finish 8-9, Await Eagles Or Cowboys

January 8th, 2023

Todd Bowles

How bout them Bucs!

Sadly, the Bucs were more bark than bite today as they nailed down Tom Brady’s first losing season and started the Todd Bowles regime with a losing regular season.

Joe knows the 30-17 loss to the Falcons was meaningless, but it sure would have been nice to see the Bucs smack around a weak division rival playing a rookie quarterback. The Falcons scored 10 points through their first three drives against the Bucs’ first-string defense. Whatever!

At least Brady and failing Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich had the Bucs firing from the opening whistle. The 10-play, 70-yard opening touchdown drive by Tampa Bay was a thing of beauty. And the Bucs scored 17 points in the first half, which was a beautiful thing, with one touchdown a Blaine Gabbert throw to Russell Gage.

Hey, the good news is the last six teams to make the playoffs with a losing record won their opening game of the postseason.

Joe was glad to see Kyle Trask get his first career playing time. It would have been nice to see him not have to throw to JV receivers.

Officially, the Bucs won the NFC South free and clear, Carolina, New Orleans and Atlanta all finished 7-10.

On to the playoffs!

Many thanks Todd Bowles! Now the GOAT can leave this franchise and go wherever he wants, including the slimy Saints, without any repercussions to his legacy. Toilet Bowles denies him the chance to maintain his perfect streak of winning seasons spanning 23 years as well as his perfect 11-0 record against the Falcons. If that doesn’t piss off someone beyond repair nothing ever will.

Good bye Tampa! Good bye Toilet Bowles! (and Arians for repeatedly throwing him under the bus over the last 3 years) My guess now is that he goes to New Orleans just to give a giant middle finger to Tampa next year.

I, for one, will be loving every moment of that Disem-bowles-ment (the “s” is silent).

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

When AWJ leads the team with 13 tackles…..you know you has a bad game

  3. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

@Fire the Gannons! posting it once wasn’t enough? lol

  4. ElioT Says:

    Losers.

Entered the post season by default. = horrible rule that should be changed.

    Losers.

    F****** 8-9

    Garbage.

  5. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Never seen Tom run off the field and not shake hands, but obviously is pissed about something

  6. Jack Clark Says:

This feels like a victory to me because none of our players got seriously injured and Todd Bowels showed signs of letting Byron Leftwich run the no risk it no biscuit offense

  7. BucfaninMi Says:

    Terrible

  8. ElioT Says:

They’re losers in the worst division in the NFC.

  9. Jack Clark Says:

“This game is meaningless. This game is meaningless. This game has no meaning.”

@Joe was that your daily affirmations? 😂

  10. Jerseybuc Says:

Todd n staff still need to go. Payton please! With that being said let’s mKe some noise in the playoffs! This team would still have a great foundation for Payton of course gotta bring 12 back

  11. Kansas95Bucs Says:

Brady says he want to play and you pull him?!?!?! This Rooney rule is pure BS! Hope you SJW are happy with this embarrassing loss…..

  12. BucfaninMi Says:

    Who’s collecting for the billboard?

  13. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Yeah Jack I’m with you. Sucks to lose this game since I live in ATL but they’re done and we get to keep going.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to be a Super Bowl team with a losing regular season? If we won this year, the meltdown from all the fans saying the NFL is rigged would be amazing.

  14. dmatt Says:

Will someone please explain what is it the coaches see in Zyon McCollum. This guy has been a disappointment all year. He seems to be out of his league. Same can be said about Logan Hall. An OL beast mode him off the line of scrimmage. I’m still not impressed with JTS. Dee Delaney is another disappointment. I’m impressed with Deven Thompkins, he has heart. Kyle Trask is garbage. He lacks arm strength. And, poof be gone Leftwich, n hopefully Bowles. Awful play calling.

  15. AmauryGuzman Says:

Would it shock me if this team came out flat next week? No. Tom Brady wanted to stay in the game. Anyway this coaching staff blows.

  16. HC Grover Says:

    The FISH are in

  17. Tye Says:

Not confident in next weeks game…
Even less confident in next season IF the Bucs don’t get a spine and send Bowles packing!!!

  18. BucfaninMi Says:

Ha! Bucs are the worst team in Florida!

  19. NEfan Says:

How many records did Bowles destroy of Brady this season? This man is a born LOSER!!! Why not just say we are going to see what our backup players can do if we need them rather than risk starters? If Brady plays he wants to WIN. How many times can this clown let the air out of this team. BA is the biggest dbag for sticking Bucs with him. Bye Bye Brady!!!

  20. BucfaninMi Says:

Not even the best team in the state

  21. orlbucfan Says:

Who is stopping Bowles from letting Trask practice with the first team offense and defense? Seriously?

  22. Redeemer Says:

About what I expected. Meaningless game. They got their work in and nobody got seriously hurt. Praying for the cowboys. Go Bucs!!

  23. Dwight Schrute Says:

    Sad, sad times.
I formally apologize to TB12 for the minor stain on his legacy.
I fully expect the Bucs to play hard next week and still lose.
Eagles or Cowboys. Either one is much better than this Bucs team.
I’m sure Brady is playing Already Gone by the Eagles in his earphones
    right now.
Sorry, but I can’t get excited about a moral victory like no injuries.
This whole season has been nothing but irritating.

  24. Goatfarmer Says:

This is exactly the point. And if Blowes had left the starters in, they probably would have won this one but come up with key injuries to a bunch of starters. Everyone saw the reserves, they are so bad it tells anyone that the Bucs depth is horrible and they aren’t being coached to play football. Maybe horseshoes.

All things considered, Blowes did the right thing. Hainsey’s injury is scary. No one expects this lethargic bunch of underachievers to do anything except get blown out of RayJay next week anyway.

  25. NEfan Says:

Oral you just witnessed it he sucks!!! That’s why he doesn’t play. You don’t think they watch him in practice?

  26. AmauryGuzman Says:

Curious to see if Dallas pulls their starters against washington if the eagles are blowing out the giants.

  27. Kansas95Bucs Says:

@Goatfarmer, if the backup suck that fall on coaching

  28. Dwight Schrute Says:

LOL I smartly stopped watching at the beginning of the 3rd quarter and spared myself some angst.

  29. AmauryGuzman Says:

Dwight the cowboys are very beatable but i wouldn’t trust this coaching staff not even one bit.

  30. alton d green Says:

yucstoucs; You nailed it. Toilet Bowles and Leftty have lost st least 7 games by being an idiot. I’ve been a Brady fan his whole career. Kiss him goodbye. I wouldn’t blame Tom if he cleaned out his locker, win or lose. forget the win part. Instead of taking Tom out he should have ran out and signed some homeless people. Tom Brady hates to lose more than anything. What a frickn embarrassment. 8-9. Bruce with Tom? SUPERBOWL. 2nd yr? Bruce with Tom 3rd yr? Toilet Bowl with Tom? 8-9 Jack Clark, my friend you obviously don’t know Tom Brady very well. HE IS A WINNER FIRST AND FOREMOST. That “playing to not lose mentality is why we are 8-9. The lousy Falcons used our defense like a defective condom

  31. Frank Pillow Says:

Can we be relieved of Todd and Byron now?

  32. NEfan Says:

    Coaching and Licth

  33. Rod Munch Says:

Looking at the possible matchups…. I think the Bucs get the big Sunday Night Football game.

Cowboys vs Bucs have been big ratings the last two years, and from a pure TV ratings standpoint, that is probably the top matchup in week 1 of the playoffs, if the Cowboys are in that #5 spot.

I was thinking it would be the MNF game, but looking again, I think it’s the SNF game.

  34. Goatfarmer Says:

Trashk is JV. He deserves the JV receivers. Maybe he’ll make backup clipboard holder in the USFL one day.

  35. NEfan Says:

Yuc, can you imagine the hours of game planning and film study Brady put into this game only to find out Bowels intent was to lose it? That’s why he’s pissed. If you’re going to sit him, he may not be happy but sit him. Instead he kicked him in the balls.

  36. NEfan Says:

You know how you can tell a good coach? He KNOWS his players!!! Bowels could give a shat.

  37. SufferingSince76 Says:

Thanks, Todd. You are a coaching genius.

  38. AmauryGuzman Says:

Curious to see what the line will be if they face the cowboys next week.

  39. Buc4evr Says:

The game wasn’t meaningless. You take wins into the next game. Thanks Todd for ruining TB12s record. This team needed all the work it could get. After the loss to the Boys, Brady will be gone to a better team and hopefully Bowles and Leftwurst will be escorted out of OBP.

  40. sasquatch Says:

Least deserving playoff participant. Will get their asses handed to them next week.

Winners play to win even when it doesn’t count. Losers rest because they’re afraid to get hurt.

  41. fwfan Says:

If the belief by many of you is that the Buccaneers will win the super bowl this year and continue to build on the NFL’s next dynasty in years to come then why would you want Bowles and Leftwich fired? That doesn’t make any sense.

  42. Please Says:

Why are some people pissed the starters were pulled? “Because they wanted to play/win” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard — they, Brady included, are not here to finish 9-8. It’s about the super bowl.

And if Brady is all worked up about it, then thank goodness he isn’t the HC.

  43. Goatfarmer Says:

    Super bowl? For who?!

Whoever the Bucs play will be favored. Hammer the line. Easy money.

  44. Chris l Says:

Joe – that stat is wrong lol. We beat Washington in 2020 and they had 7 wins

  45. RGA Says:

Hats off to the refs with the blatant call on a roughing the punter to help the Seahawks get in. That phantom call was a game changer and knocked Lions hopes out. I hate to see refs dictate who wins and loses football games.

  46. The Anomaly Says:

    8-9 with Tom Brady

    Bowels is total garbage

  47. CleanHouse Says:

Imagine how hilarious if they fired the whole staff before the playoff game

  48. Boltsfan17 Says:

This team is utter trash. 8-9 and a playoff team is just ridiculous. Anyone at 1 Buc who thinks this team deserves to be in the playoffs is completely out of their mind.

  49. Goatfarmer Says:

    Embarrassed for Brady
