Tom Brady And Bucs Once Again Demonstrate Hurry-Up Offense Works

December 26th, 2022

“Mr. Hand”

It is absolutely maddening to Joe and this really speaks to coaching malpractice.

The Bucs, for roughly 50 minutes Sunday night, looked like Father Dungy’s offense trying to move the ball in the 1999 NFC Championship game.

Whenever the Bucs got inside the Arizona-40, at least in the first 50 minutes of the game, one of four things would happen: pick, flag, incompletion or field goal.

Or in other words, the Bucs offense looked like a Chihuahua trying to hump a Great Dane.

Then, when the Bucs went to a hurry-up trailing by 10 with just over 10 minutes left in regulation, the Bucs offense hummed.

And Brady was spectacular.

He missed on just 3 of 21 passes in the final 10 minutes of regulation and overtime. Before that, he looked more like his old Michigan teammate Brian Griese when Son of Bob was the Bucs’ quarterback.

Dink, dunk, dink, dunk, pick.

Joe just wishes Brady or Mike Evans or Chris Godwin or Tristan Wirfs would grab failing Bucs coordinator Bryon Leftwich by the head, and yell at him like Mr. Hand to his history class in “Fast Times At Ridgemont High” and scream, “WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE? ON DOPE?!”

This coaching staff acts like it will catch the Ebola virus if they use a hurry-up or a play-action unless it is a desperate situation.

WAKE UP! Will people use what works, or get the hell out of the way and let a coach call what works? This just fries Joe’s brain.

This team would be in an absolute world of hurt and probably would be picking in the top-five in the draft next spring if not for Brady’s fourth-quarter magic.

There you have it. When Ryan Orlowski is looking fun of the hard headed play calling then you know it’s bad. I’ve seen ego/pride but this is a whole new level.

    We’re now concerned when it’s 3rd & 2… How far we’ve fallen.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The 4 runs plays in a row! …..and you still cannot get a 1st down with less than 2 yards is probably one of the worst things I’ve seen in football period!!!!

That was just down right awful.

  3. Oxycondoms Says:

The it tires the defense is crap if anything it tires the other teams defense

Hilarious! Well said, Joe! 2011 and 2012 in NE, Brady ran the uptempo offense to perfection. That’s not something Bowles wants. He likes to protect his defense. Bowles has telegraphed his philosophy since training camp. During training camp, they constantly ran the ball up the middle and had no success. I remember Joe noting that the run game was a mess. During Brady’s absence, Bowles said he wanted to work on improving the run game. During breaks on the broadcast, he talks about wanting to run the ball. He even mentioned he wanted more screens! Joe, this offense is a Ferrari with no engine. Sure we have great skill players, but it means nothing when we have a below average OL.

I would love for one of the Joes to sneak into practice to see if Tom is hitting on the deep passes. What’s the damn issue?! I think it’s part injury and part horrible mechanics because he’s rushing throws. Some reporter needs to dig into what’s going on. I say injury is playing a role because this looks like 2020 when Tom struggled with the deep ball. He was playing with an undisclosed knee injury.

3 straight runs plus the run late on 3rd and 3 were inexcusable.

On what planet, when you’ve seen JJ Watt get the best of Tristan Wirfs earlier in the game, would a sane person expect to pound it at Watt behind Brandon Walton for any positive yardage? Not this one clearly!

There is no hope that BL is fired this year, it just won’t happen no matter how hard we desperately try to type it into existence. We can only hope that BL has an epiphany on the plane ride back from AZ or a visitation by the ghosts of football past.

Chris Collinsworth said it several times during the game, that Bowles just won’t open up the Bucs offense – that he just won’t do it. He talks all game long about how awful the Bucs offensive line is, and how it just simply cannot protect Brady, and that it’s causing all the off throws, because Brady has no time to throw.

Then of course, when the Bucs are desperate, they have to go to the no huddle offense, and once again Brady and the offense gets the comeback win.

Then Collinsworth is talking about how the no huddle offense definitely works for the Bucs, because it takes away the pass rush of the opposing defense, which negates the fact that the Bucs offensive line is awful and can’t protect Brady without the no huddle offense……..

How many freaking times do we have to see this same exact thing play out before the head coach makes a change? Every single in game analyst says the same thing in these games – that the o-line can’t protect Brady, his throws are off target because he has no time to pass, and they need to run the no huddle, because it allows him time in the pocket. EVERY announcer says it during these games, when they have to go to the no huddle.

The fans (except the ludicrous Brady haters here), can all see the same exact thing. The media keeps asking Bowles why he won’t run the no huddle…

But all that happens over and over and over is Bowles trying the same thing on offense, that doesn’t work. Brady and Leftwich have proven numerous times this season that they can do great with the offense, if Bowles opens it up and lets’ them run that no huddle, because it helps the bad o-line. But nope, Bowles seems to be completely content to keep running the offense that doesn’t work, with the o-line that isn’t capable of pass protecting…….

It’s just ridiculous. Collinsworth went further than other game announcers have so far though, as he mentioned Bowles by name specifically on a couple of occasions, and how he won’t open up the Bucs offense, but that he has to.

It’s 100% obvious at this point what the problem with the Bucs is. the bad o-line and Bowles refusal to acknowledge it and to make any changes to his out of date old school prevent offense.

  7. 1#bucsfan Says:

This is crazy Joe. Demote Bowles back to DC and get arians back in there till we can find a coach who will put the most talented offense back out there. With this much fire power with ME13 CG14 the goat JJ and gage this is a crime. So tired of Bowles n the way he wants to run this offense right into the bottom of Tampa bay

  8. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I think by now after this third horrorfic game by the Bucs…..everyone knows the coaching is awful and Tom Brady ain’t right either.

  9. steele Says:

    Thank you, BOAT. Absolutely right.

What Bowles has done makes no sense. And every time it’s late….there it is. Brady doing what he should do. Play action, no huddle, pulling it out of their rear ends…win.

Stubbornly insisting on the run when you’re not equipped for it is insane. Insisting even more, when you have a losing record doing it, is further insanity.

Brady did what his thing. Again. But that doesn’t hide how awful the game was, on both sides of the ball.

As for Brady’s passing. It is clearly off, possibly a combination of issues that include the bad OL and pressure (hello JJ Watt and any other great pass rush), an injury that is being downplayed or covered up, a lack of reliable receiving (poor chemistry with Evans, no one telepathically tight with Brady like Gronk was) and bad play calling that doesn’t emphasize Brady’s strengths.

    BOAT is correct

  11. Bucschamp Says:

this win just saved bowles job again

  12. Jt Says:

Maybe they don’t run it all game because they know Tommy can’t keep that pace at his age.

  13. Tap-Out Says:

Still trying to undermine the OC ….Joe thus shouldn’t happen while you winning …but carry on its your site ….but will you be willing to eat crow when the BUCS win the Division? …No is the answer because you already done with the current staff but you can carry on. I am only here to point out that as we are winning while you and others who believe as you continue to whine!

  14. Captain Oblivious Says:

Nice clip from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. It wasn’t really germane to your point but how about the clip of Phoebe Cates by the swimming pool?

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Tap Out are you related to our Hindenburg of OCs? Barely winning against a team giving up 26 points a game and you say Joe is undermining our OC. Leftovers has been undermining our offense all year long with his play calling. When you see the worse defense able to know what 3 yard play is coming up tells you he has no imagination. The Bucs are treading water with 2 cement shoes. Bowles is one. I’m sure you don’t know who the other is.

  16. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

You can’t go hurry up all game… Brady is playing well in hurry up because he’s going on instincts, timing and the defense plays off … When he has to rely on his reflexes while reading a defense that is playing tight, it’s not there! That’s what age does to you! Your reflexes fade and you might see it but your body doesn’t react in time! That pick he threw at Evans was a great example of this! He was a second off and that’s 45 year old reflexes!

  17. Greg Says:

Todd Bowles comes from a long line of idiot coaches that think their way is the right way even though their current players are wrong for that scheme. Bowles is trying to shove a round peg into a square hole, and hopefully the Glazers shove something up his when the season is over!!

  18. Proudbucsfan Says:

Hey Tap-Out are you following the Buccaneers ? Please answer a question for me. Is having a loosing record 7-8 below.500 considered winning football ? Unbelievable 🤮

  19. Anonymous Says:

I think the problem is Todd Bowles. He stands on the sideline no kind of emotions and doesn’t even try to make a play call /a decision. He needs to be gone like now. At least Bruce Arians made decisions and got involved in making decisions for the team. I say get rid of the coach

  20. Tap-Out Says:

@DavidBBF99 : First of all we won Sunday am I right? Have you ever heard the saying … On any Sunday or This is why you play the game!. At the beginning of each game the score is Zero-Zero, teams don’t lay down to T Brady, their goal is the same as ours, to win the game! Brady is a Drop Back – Pass Action QB and part of that is being able to read defenses which is said he does better than any QB in the league, but with that you have to have a dominant OLine and a efficient Power running game! Our OLine is no longer dominant our receivers started the season banged up which has lead to poor execution which leads to ineffective play not ineffective play calling (there is a difference) ….TBrady cat do roll out passes or run pass options …that’s just not his game!

  21. Tap-Out Says:

@Proudbucsfan: you sir are correct 7-8 record is a loading record but we did win Sunday and we are still in first place in our Division no matter how bad anybody says our division is!

  22. Tap-Out Says:

    ^^^a losing record

  23. 941Boltsfan Says:

They don’t run the hurry up offense all game, because they aren’t trying to leave the defense out on the field to be exhausted on early 3 and outs.
