Defense Getting The Job Done

December 26th, 2022

Everywhere Sunday night.

Look, Joe has been highly critical of this Bucs offense.

If you have their skill position players and you can barely score 17 points a game, your offense is a joke. That’s all there is to it.

The coaching staff crafting this cruel practical joke of an offense deserves all the ridicule Joe can muster. And then some.

But while the offense is an embarrassing clown show, the defense has played solid. No, the Bucs defense isn’t playing great. But when you factor in all the injuries the defense has had, they’re playing better than Joe expected.

Look, the Bucs have no established pass rusher. Yet they somehow find a decent pass rush. Not good, but decent.

The secondary has injuries up and down the roster but they find a way to hold teams. The Bucs did that tonight.

Timely turnovers and solid defense and a key pass rush kept the Bucs in the game.

No, the Bucs defense is not playing lights out. Given what they have to work with and under the conditions they have to work with, the defense has been fine.

It is the offense that is a nightmare.

The defense has made plays when needed. They have suffered more 3 and outs the previous seasons. Sometimes they are just out there too long. The offense has to wake up!

  2. Frank Pillow Says:

9 is liability out there. Just awful stuff being put on film.

  3. Winny Testaverde Says:

Carlton Banks-Davis is a good cover corner and a decent tackler. One of these games he’s going to accidentally intercept one. It may have to lodge in his face mask first, however.

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

JTS aka #9 is awful and is always liability on the field. Just leave Anthony Nelson is permanently!!!!!

Then sprinkle in Carl Nassib every now and then……but just get JTS off the field!!!!!!

  5. Leighroy Says:

Tied for 7th in the league for points allowed. Clearly defense isn’t the root issue.

  6. Bucfan1988 Says:

JTS flashed several times tonite actually….
He unloaded in the QB just as the ball was released…
Missed multiple sacks by split seconds…

    He looked much better tonite..

  7. Oneilbuc Says:

Good job defense even though most of fans on this site doesn’t give y’all credit so good game !!!

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our defense has been solid all year……even SMB played pretty well last night……and JTS was effective…..he was very close to several sacks….

  9. PSL Bob Says:

I just wish they could tighten up the tackling. Too many whiffs and runners breaking free. Wrap up guys!

  10. Panhandle Buc Says:

Carlton needs to hit extra jugs practice this week…

  11. PewterStiffArm Says:

We have talked about Devin Whites tackling, too high. Instead of keeping his opponent in front of him and exploding towards his legs he always goes for the shoulder pads. When he grabs the pads the momentum of his opponent carries him another three yards on average. He himself has mentioned tackling more efficiently, but then again we have been talking about this for a while now. Oh and by the way has anyone seen Logan Hall?, thank God for Will Gholston.

  12. D-Rok Says:

Our defense has been a lone bright spot on the team this year. They’ve kept us in games all season long.

For what they’ve had to deal with, I say, Hats off, Defense!!!!

  13. orlbucfan Says:

Great photo of a HOF level team captain, Joes. I sure hope he and other teammates have been giving Methuselah 0 the stink-eye.

  14. Proudbucsfan Says:

I believe if our offense had played like it has the passed two years and the way our defense is playing now we would be undefeated. Bowels had to go and fix something that wasn’t broken

Joe, you’re a complete a$$. Either you’re a complete moron who doesn’t understand football beyond his armchair laptop, or you deliberately capitalize off the ignorance of your faithful audience. Joe is not ignorant and neither is the audience. –Joe Let me guess, couldn’t land a cozy, cubicle job at CNN or FOX? It’s all about the OLine and Brady’s arm. Bowles and Byron have put the team in the right spot; but they can’t go out and block for the RBs or put Brady’s passes where they’re suppose to go.

The only perplexing qualm I have, and is a fair criticism is the lack of fade routes for #13 in the endzone. That’s plain out inexplicable. Like your lack of journalistic credibility.

Hey Joe, why don’t you stop being a passive aggressive weenie who’s probably never played sports in his life, and put my comments on your page, and take your criticism like a man? First, your comments are here. Second, Joe has played multiple sports and coached. Third, can’t imagine a cubicle job at a network being desirable in any shape or form. Fourth, if you think the offense is well designed and coaches are doing a great job, well, then Joe can’t help you. –Joe
