Rob Gronkowski: Unleash The Hounds!

December 26th, 2022

Gronk speaks out on the Bucs offense.

You are fed up. Cris Collinsworth is fed up. Dan Orlovsky is fed up. Marcus Spears is fed up. Hell, Joe’s even fed up.

It almost seems like Bucs coach Todd Bowles is willing to sink the Bucs’ pirate ship for 2022 rather than have his pride take a hi. He just will not allow the Bucs offense to be its best self.

As a result, the Bucs have one of the worst offenses in the Super Bowl era, one of the worst offenses in franchise history (which given the team’s history is beyond damning) and are on the cusp of blowing a title of a truly putrid division.

And trust Joe, if that happens, and the Bucs miss out on tens of millions of revenue for a missed playoff game (or more?) that will certainly get the full attention of the family signing the paychecks.

Last night NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth, a former Pro Bowl receiver, scolded Bowles for keeping the offense roped in and instead trying to run a power game. When the offense is unleashed, it hums.

We’ve all seen this, so it’s impossible to argue that Bowles and his failing offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich can’t see this. (If they can’t see this, they have no business working an NFL sideline.)

Now add former Bucs tight end, foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski to the mix.

Who knows this offense better than Gronk? Who knows Brady and the rest of the Bucs offense better than Gronk?

This morning, Gronk hopped on “Up and Adams” starring Kay Adams, seen on FanDuelTV, and Gronk said loud and clear what the Bucs need to do:

Let Brady run no-huddle much more.

Gronk, in general, didn’t say anything more than we already know, except Gronk broke down what Brady does during a no-huddle offense and why it works so well for him. It’s great stuff.

“I think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to be in no-huddle more often,” Gronk said. “Look at the game against the [Saints], and they scored two touchdowns at the end of the game (including) on the final drive by Brady, which is always impressive.

“He has it down to a science. You are not really in the huddle because it is a two-minute drill. He’s just signaling to everyone. He’s yelling out to linemen what the pass protection is going to be. Then he’s signaling to the receivers what the routes are going to be.

“He does it so crisp. He’s so good at it. He’s been doing it his whole life. He does it every single week.”

Gronk added Brady goes over the no-huddle/two-minute drill each and every Friday with the offense and makes sure they know all the hand signals so when the offense is used on Sunday it’s “smooth.”.

Just about everybody and his brother are pleading with Bowles to swallow his pride for the sake of his team and run what works for this offense: no-huddle and play-action. It is apparent he doesn’t want that.

Coach, it isn’t about what you want. It’s what is best for the team. Anything less is not just coaching malpractice, it’s a grotesque act of irresponsibility.

Does anyone else remember the last time a Bowles-coach team needed a win to clinch a playoff berth? Score of the game sure looked like a 2022 Bucs score.

    Sounds like good advice.

  2. Marine Buc Says:

I wonder if TB12’s hand injury is still bothering him… I know he is not on the injury report but that doesn’t really mean anything. Has Brady ever been on the injury report throughout his career besides when he was out with that severe knee injury he had long ago?

Brady has NEVER been this inaccurate with his throws. There is something wrong and I am sorry JOE – but I do not buy the “it’s a mental problem” excuse you gave…

The protection has been inconsistent and mediocre at best but even when he has a little time – most of his throws are just off target.

  3. Statistically Insignificant Reader Says:

More evidence of the gross incompetence of Bowles Leftwich circle jerk shet show.

  4. Terry Says:

Why is it that everyone sees this but coaches don’t. Or do they just not want to listen.

  5. AbucAway Says:

He forgot to mention the part where he is back on the field so that we wouldn’t need no huddle to win.

  6. McBucky Says:

Todd Bowles lacks vision. Coaches with vision, a vision to win, will put the right people and the right plays in place to maximize strength their strengths. This man does none of that. He is stubborn. Period. At this point he should not receive a second season as head coach. He should be demoted to defensive coordinator where he does juts fine and remain there.

  7. Alanbucsfan Says:

The OLine is in pretty bad shape- lots of injuries, down to 3rd string left tackle and Wirfs is on 1 1/2 legs- Brady doesn’t trust them for protection which is causing him to throw it before he’s comfortable.
When they get in the No-huddle, Brady is more confident because he knows the opponents’ D-Line is gassed.
    Leftwich’s offense can’t over a decimated OLine, but Brady’s hurry-up can.

  8. Alanbucsfan Says:

  9. John Sinclear Says:

Maybe it’s time for a reality question. Leftwich was the OC during the super bowl run. The offense was fine. He was the OC last year in an almost super bowl run. Arians was head coach and the theme was “No risk it, no biscuit”. Bowles is now the head coach. The theme is “Just don’t risk it”. Bowles is the boss. Leftwich is the employee. The employee does what he’s told by the boss. Evidence is mounting that Bowles want a run based offense, from a pass based roster. Maybe Leftwich is NOT the problem??

  10. BOAT Says:

If you talk to Jets fans, they absolutely hate Bowles. Many consider him the worst head coach the Jets ever had. It’s amazing that the ownership apparently evidently didn’t even look into Bowles’ coaching history with the Jets and apparently evidently just took Arians’ recommendation as gospel.

  11. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Yes, Brady’s throwing hand is hurting him.

  12. D-Rok Says:

Many of us fans on this here site have been screaming for more hurry-up and no-huddle, myself included. For about 2 months now.

Are the coaches gonna wake up? If history serves as an indicator, they will not.

    So DANG sad and stupid!!!!

  13. Cobraboy Says:

Please, Glazers, dump these jabroni’s and bring in REAL NFL coaches.

  14. Onetrickpony Says:

It’s almost as if Bowels is trying to tank the offence so he can pick whoever wants after he runs off some of the players we already have, and build his own team. Bowels shouldn’t even be demoted to his old job,he wouldn’t accept that I don’t think and I wouldn’t trust him after this fiasco . Both need to go

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    @ D-Rok

I believe Todd Bowles should be blamed as much as BL for this lame offense.

Bowles is the second coming of Tony Dungy… Low risk boring offense. Solid defense. Win by a field goal…

Don’t get me wrong – we need a new offensive coordinator next year for sure. But Todd Bowles is the head coach and he decides the overall structure of this team and how it operates on game day.

  16. mark2001 Says:

    Sounds like great advice.

  17. Alanbucsfan Says:

Leftwich’s offense works when Bucs had a great OLine- they don’t have that now, and Brady knows it , and he’s not a mobile QB, so he feels uncomfortable and rushed in this offense, but gains confidence with the No huddle because it hampers the opponents’ DLine.

  18. LakelandSteve Says:

Why is that just about everyone else that watches the Bucs knows this but the bullheaded soon to be ex-coach doesn’t know this?

  19. SufferingSince76 Says:

Broncos fired Hackett for a crappy offense. When will the Glazers take a hint?

  20. adam from ny Says:

i haven’t missed a game since alstott wore orange in his rookie year…either at the game or on tv, or if necessary in a sports bar…not a single game…

    i can tell you this…

during the past 3 weeks i have fallen asleep watching the game at halftime to midway thru the 3rd quarter each week…(and i don’t really drink much – if at all sometimes)

thank you bowles – it took a minute, but you have turned me into a full on zombie too…

i’m passing out from sheer boredom – you have destroyed a franchise overnight…

in an offense based league, you have turned succop into your mvp and are playing ball like your idol tony dungy…

    congratulations…let’s party like it’s 1999

  21. Redeemer Says:

Been calling for the hurry up for weeks. It puts the offense 100% in Brady’s hands. Plus, it wears out defenses. Can’t hurt to try. It might look as bad, just faster.

  22. Please Says:

There were a few shots of Bowles on the sidelines (like after the 3rd and 3 run for no gain), where it looked like he was going “WTF?” … was he pissed at the play calls? It didn’t seem like a “darn it that didn’t work” like execution, it was more of a “the heck was that?”

I don’t understand why they don’t just try the no huddle earlier, I get Bowls’s retort that it doesn’t give the defense a chance to rest… But neither does 17 freaking three and outs.

  23. VegasBuc Says:

Regardless if we make playoffs or not, Glazers have to know it ain’t happening with this staff. Bring in Payton. I know it’s in there minds. How can it not?

  24. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

It won’t happen. I even wondered last night if Moron was purposely avoiding ANY play action exactly BECAUSE so many were calling them out for NOT running it. It’s a deadly combination of stubbornness, stupidity and arrogance. Flush them away.

  25. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    And if you
Run no huddle at the start or end the half, then you can’t use the “no rest” excuse. It’s because they’re blockheads. Incapable of thinking.

  26. Aceofaerospace Says:

These coaches would rather we think they’re idiots than allow Brady to run the huddle and prove they’re idiots.

  27. D-Rok Says:

No, Ace – if these coaches unleash this offense, they will be perceived as geniuses.

  28. Vancouver Buc Says:

This is on Bowels…he dictates how he wants the offence run, and it’s plain offensive and boneheaded.

  29. DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH Says:

FIRE THE HOLE DAM BUNCH OF THEM , I KNEW IT WOULDN’T WORK WHEN TODD TOOK OVER , HE IS A FAILUER , THATS WHY THEY FIRED HIS ASS AT THE JETS , AND TAKE LEFTY WITH YOU ……. AND GET MICH, COACH JIM HARBAUGH !!!!!!

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

Todd Bowles ran the jets into the ground. Worse record every year he coached- until they fired him.
If He didnt learn then- he wont learn now.

If the Glazers don’t fire him now, he will continue destroying this team.

  31. Redeemer Says:

Vancouver, yes. It’s probably Bowles who doesn’t want to run hurry up. Probably worried about keeping his defense fresh. Other than KC, Baltimore and GB, the time of possession has been almost equal in the other 12 games. I don’t understand what he’s afraid of. It’s clear they can’t gameplan, so why not eliminate it all together. They haven’t come out in hurry up all year. Now would be the time to surprise Carolina and run it till they stop it.

  32. Bojim Says:

The coaches hear everybody but they’re ignoring it. Bowles wants to win his way or not at all

  33. D-Rok Says:

A fan on another Bucs site posted that Bowles looks like Bubba Gump, but with a closed mouth. I think during the game, Bowles isn’t deep in thought, he’s simply muttering to himself:

    “Brady soup
    Brady kabobs
    Deep fried Brady
    Beer battered Brady
    Brady Stroganoff
    Boiled Brady
    Brady augraten
    Brady Stew
    Brady Dogs
    Sautéed Brady”

Sorry, couldn’t resist. Just too funny (and eerily proximal to truth), LOL. Hey, Bowles ruined MY season, so it’s fair-game to poke fun at him, right?

  34. @eric Says:

Sean Payton get radio 2.0 out of here

  35. D-Rok Says:

But then again, Bubba Gump was more expressive than Bowles. 🙂

In all seriousness, I still can’t imagine playing for such an expressionless robot of a coach.

    DULL.

    ——–

That is absolutely ridiculous to think Bowles is calling the offensive plays. What evidence or proof is there that anyone other than Leftwich is responsible for this garbage on offense? Bowles is a DC who was made HC on March 30th – he was handed Leftwich and all the other coaches as a condition of taking the job, he didn’t add any of his guys, and he’s not the one calling the offense. The offense was supposed to be a smooth transition from Arians to Leftwich, who is 100% the one responsible.

Bowles is not a real headcoach. Real headcoaches don’t get the job on March 30th and have no say in personnel. Bowles is as involved with this offense as Gruden was involved in 2002 with the defense – meaning he’s not involved at all.

I’m not a fan of Bowles, I’m not defending him, but I also can’t stand people not putting all the blame on Leftwich since that is where it belongs. He’s always been a dullard and an idiot, and he’s proving it now. Last night, 1-min to go, 3rd and 3, need any score to win the game, with Brady on fire, and that idiot LEFTWICH calls a draw play. That’s LEFTWICH doing that, not Bowles.

    ———

Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re missing 3 of 5 starters AND Wirfs is playing injured and clearly not himself. You’re basically down 4 guys, but it’s even worse as you’re not missing guys who were already filling in.

During the Cinny game when Wirfs was out, you were literally missing all 5 starters on the offensive line from last year.

I mean it’s pretty clear why Brady has no faith in the line and why the line is struggling.

At the same time, a real OC would make adjustments, not just run it up the middle 4 times in a row then look shocked when they turn it over on downs.

  39. HC Grover Says:

    —————————————————————————-

Brady has never in his career played in an offense like this. It has zero resemblance to anything the Patriots ever used, or to what the Bucs used the last two years. Leftwich has never been running an offense like this either. It’s totally different than anything he was involved with.

The other offensive coach, Christensen (a former OC), also was never involved in any offense like this.

Tom Moore and Arians, who are former offensive coaches, and who are also supposedly team “advisors”, whatever that actually means – neither one of them was ever involved with any offense that remotely resembled this Bucs offense.

But guess who was previously on a team that ran this same offensive system? That would be Todd Bowles. The Jets ran this same offensive system that the Bucs are running now, when Bowles was the Jets head coach. So let’s break this down, and do the math on it.

Did Brady ever play in this same offense? No.
Did Leftwich coach in this same offense? No.
Did Arians ever coach in this same offense? No.
Did Christensen ever coach in this same offense? No.
Did Moore ever coach in this same offense? No.

Did Bowles ever coach in this same offense? Yes, and it was the last time he held a head coaching position.

This whole offense has Bowles’ handprints all over it. Because it’s the same exact offense those Jets teams had.

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Captivajim

In all fairness, we only have 5-6 plays.

  44. Uncle Urk Says:

Rewatch the game and listen to Todd’s halftime interview. It is clear that the team is separated. There is defense and offensive. Todd is only taking responsibility for the defense. He uses words like “we” and “us” for the D and “them” and “they” for the offense and special team. Listen. He shouldn’t be the HC. He should be the DC. The HC brings it the team together, not separate it.

  45. SlyPirate Says:

    HERE’S THE NEW TRUTH …

The NFL has evolved. No huddle offense, real-time scheme changes, stats/probability driven decisions.

Bowles is a throwback Parcels coach. The NFL has evolved and he hasn’t evolved with it.

  46. kyle Hoge Says:

gronk is a social media darling.. baiting the nfl on a return that isnt happening. im over his shtick.. go retire dude

  47. confido75 Says:

You can’t lose 3 starting lineman and a HOF Tight End and expect to be the same offense. Also, what we have are two coordinators with one “acting” as head coach. Not sure why BA stepped down, but it was a huge mistake. I’ve heard everything from BA’s health was the reason for him stepping down to Brady forced the front office to make the change as a condition of his return from retirement. I don’t really care what and why it happened, but the FO should have found someone else to be the HC. Personally, I would have given BL the chance, if they were going to make an in house decision. He is young, has the charisma and leadership skills needed for the role. They could have found another quality OC to replace him. I’ve seen the locker room speeches TB gives and they are low energy and not inspiring to say the least.

  48. weberg Says:

Only one place that fits. Denver.

  49. Bunny Says:

I don’t think the coach Tod Bowles can take the buccaneers to the super bowl, the team have talents but they need a good coach , he is the same like when he coached the new York Jets, he is a good defensive coach but not an offensive coach, and seems comfortable to lose and is most happy when he is shaking the hands of the coach that beat him he is not a good coach and was lucky when he was the assistant coach if the BUCS when they won the super bowl …Brady is still good, Todd Bowles is useless and cannot help the buccaneers in crunch time , if the buccaneers find a way to win it’s because the guys are playing in support of each other without a coach, he is a crab in a barrel trying to climb out but everytime he nears the top he falls back down enough of Useless Bowles , but I still support Tom Brady and the guys

  50. Darin Says:

Great job coach. There at least you got it once from somebody. Who cares what I really feel about you

  51. OLDE pfart Says:

There is a reason why some players are not starters…..thats who is protecting Brady now….he has no time to read his progressions…..but has to hurry his throws to avoid being wrapped up…..give him a line of protection and then see what he has accomplished for the last 20 seasons…..

  52. NEfan Says:

Rod, obviously Bowels isn’t calling the plays unless it’s a fake punt on your own 27, 55 & 50 yd field goal and poor game management. What he is doing is dictating the style of offense he wants which is clearly ground & pound.

  53. Tye Says:

    Bowles bumped to HC:

Bucs stop being the highest scoring Team
Alex cappa rather play for the Bengals
Sue doesn’t want to play for him
JPP didn’t want to play for him
Gronk didn’t want to play for him
Beasley retired after 2 weeks of that mess just to sign with Bills weeks later

That many jumped ship, how many more players would avoid the Bucs this off season IF they keep Blows as HC…

2023 is already a disaster if the Bucs don’t change coaching staff!

  54. Tye Says:

OH and Ali Marpet retired at 28…. Bet he is glad he didn’t play this year

  55. Vancouver Buc Says:

Bowels isn’t calling the plays but he has said throughout the pre-season and this disastrous season that he wants to run the ball more and doesn’t like the hurry up offence cause it puts more pressure and tires out his Defence. You can’t run the ball with this patchwork O Line, it’s painfully obvious to all except this paint-drying watching HC.

  56. alton d green Says:

Tye you nailed it. Let’s try something that Bowles clearly doesn’t understand…………….PASS TO SET UP THE RUN and wear the defenses out and who knows we might score 30 points. Now let me throw a wrench in the wheel. 30 points. Remember that. That will not be enough to beat The Cowboys, Eagles, Bengals, Chiefs or Bills. Oh, I forgot, the Steelers, Panthers, Texans, Patriots and SNHU. Unless Bowles takes the handcuffs off the offense. I really can’t see that LOSER doing that. Todd is a lot like Biden. He does nothing for 14 games and then if the offense clicks, he’ll take the credit, After all the border is closed and he got 80 million votes so anything is possible i guess

  57. alton d green Says:

they should replay the game in a big room with Collinsworth talking about Bowles. Would it help? I freak’n dought it

  58. Tucker Says:

They absolutely should be doing more no huddle but what does anyone know it’s only successful we all know Todd and leftwich are allergic to that gotta run the ball more though right Todd.

  59. Keith Henig Says:

I agree 100% with Gronk. Bowles is not a good Head Coach. He should stick with Defense and let Brady call his own game.

  60. Nick houllis Says:

    O line . That’s whTs to blame
Donovan H smith (h for holding) out
Ali market. Retired. Replacement not as good
Ryan Jensen. IR replacement not as good
    Kappa- Fa- replacement better
    Wirfs- injured

2 second or less throws. Get online back we’re back

  61. Purplepirate Says:

“Probably worried about keeping his defense fresh.”

Like the three and out offense is keeping them fresh.

  62. bob Says:

everybody can see it its the vanity of the coaching staff who will not bend to the moment and adjust to the injuries at hand….situational football…..no vision

  63. Brazen Zebra Says:

Arians steps away under mysterious circumstances and presto, Bowles is HC. Remember all the head scratching? I still think it stinks. Arians was pushed out, and then shown a rocking chair. The Bucs lost their one and only sparkplug. Things look bleak.now. But, wait! Look over there in the sky! Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s Super Gronk! Rumors are flyin in the sky with him. Is he comin back to help Tom and the Bucs? Yes! Forget about Bowles! Tom and Gronk will win the Super Bowl. Yipee-ka-yay!

  64. Richard Says:

TB is clearly the root of the problem! Just watch all the sideline and in-game interactions involving TB. He is apparently close to BL. If BL is so clueless, then you wouldn’t see the trust from TB’s eyes when he is talking to BL and all those brotherly love and hugs after a comeback win. Also recall what BA said about BL being “unleashed” in one half against Bengals.

  65. Browsing from DC Says:

Also to Bowles’ stubbornness, when Gronk posted the “I’m bored” comment last week he said several teams and his agent reached out to him thinking it was about playing again. Gronk also said that he reached out to Todd Bowles directly and spoke to him. Bowles confirmed this as well. Would love to know what Bowles said if the call was about Gronk offering to come back. Did Bowles say “No thanks. We need to run the ball better so we don’t need you”.

I can see Bowles doing that (even though Gronk’s run blocking skills are almost as legendary as his receiving skills).

If Bowles is back next year, maybe Gronk will join Brady in LV or SF because I’d bet Brady would rather retire for good than play under Bowles another season if he can’t land somewhere promising. Imagine Brady in SanFran with those weapons, that defense and especially that coach. As a Bucs fan I couldn’t blame the guy.

  66. Infomeplease Says:

Fire Bowles and Leftwich Today!!!! Bowles thinks his game plan got the desired result!! Leftwich doesn’t have the balls to run last years offense!! Thus the sad sad results!! Fire them both today!! Promote their assistants!!! THEY CAN’T DO WORSE!!!
