Devin White Admits He Has To Use His Head When Playing The Slimy Saints

December 1st, 2022

A division rival. A team that owned the Bucs for years in the regular season. And a fiery Bucs linebacker playing the team from his home state where all his family and friends will be watching on Monday Night Football.

Those are reasons for any player to get fired up.

But star linebacker Devin White says he has to keep his head in the game. White confessed yesterday there are all sorts of reasons to get in a lather to play the slimy Saints. But doing that leads to mistakes.

So White said he can’t get carried away. He’s even studying the zebras assigned for Monday night’s game to make sure they are not flag-happy.

“No, I mean right now, we go over the refs and we kind of know what types of calls the refs call, and at the end of the day you don’t want to hurt the team,” White said. “So, even myself being a hometown guy going against them, I keep telling myself, ‘Don’t hurt your team, don’t hurt your team.’ Because at the end of the day the team is more important than any personal agenda that I have against the Saints. I want to play hard or play good against the Saints, so I think I kind of spread that message throughout the team.

“Even Coach Bowles did in our team meeting – that’s not how we’re going to lose games is by giving them the costly things, it’s because we can’t keep our emotions in check. So it is being talked about so we just gotta be a little smarter.”

Joe likes to hear that. A guy can play with emotion and fire and not get carried away and run on a headrush of emotions and do stupid sh!t like late hits and barrelling into guys out of bounds, or clotheslining a quarterback.

And trust Joe, if players have a rep for being too emotional, other teams will bait that guy into doing stupid crap.

Joe is encouraged to hear White speak several days before the game about how he has to keep his head. That’s a good sign.

The way this kid acts on the field is the same way he plays – immature

Constantly tacking at people in the wrong circumstances- like after making a tackle 10 yards past the first down marker or the incessant need to draw roughing penalties – idiot just did it again shoving a guy well out of bounds and then yapping about it

He has physical talent but his head is not screwed on right.

  2. Kentucky Buc Says:

Sadly White probably is what he is at the point. Great physical talent, low mental talent. Chasing the spotlight.

Devin White says “he has to keep his head in the game.” Hahahahaha! No sh!t..

What obvious statement is next? “I have to remember to put my helmet on when I go into the game.”

  4. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

Uh Oh. Every time things go bad on defense the answer is always “DW had to think too much”

Refs? ffs Joe has been telling us about the refs for years and the team dont? Joe, you might want to forward Game Day Tampa Bay article to the team every week.

If White just keys on Kamara and Taysom Hill when he’s in the game and goes after Dalton on obvious passing downs, he should have a great game.

Devin White and Lavonte David called a dinner players only defense meeting, to get closer, that must be the 3rd players only meeting this year. Anyone else see a problem with this, I mean, isn’t this the coaches job to have players right and ready to play!??

The Saints physicality will stick the final fork in the Bucs. They will suffer multiple ‘injuries’ and be placed on IR. The Bucs have lost toughness and give in to aches and pains. It’s the NFL, not Mighty Might, High School, or college ball.
When the defense has a dinner to air grievances it confirms my earlier posts about internal problems that are killing the Bucs. It will all come out in the off season. Those who get traded, retire, or otherwise leave the team will let us know some of the details. This once Pirate Ship is sinking…fast.

  8. William Walls Says:

So… he’s basically explaining how Coach Bowles is coaching the team on how to play not to lose.

  9. Goatfarmer Says:

    Brian Flores or Eric Bienemy.

  10. D-Rok Says:

Or O’Brien or Reich for OC.

  11. D-Rok Says:

Devin should talk to Marshawn Lynch about how to get his mentals right for this game.

Every game SHOULD make you think, Mr. White.

  12. sasquatch Says:

Devin White might be the dumbest guy on the team. Not really interested in what he has to say.

  13. SB~LV Says:

    Lol…
DC’s have been using DW’s 10 cent head against him.
DW is the Jameis of the defense.
I don’t think he is capable of playing in a disciplined defense, too much backyard football just like Jameis.

for Devin to use his head ; could be difficult ..
