Buccaneers Injuries Mount

December 28th, 2022

Carlton Davis (shoulder), Anthony Nelson (illness) and Rakeem Nuñez-Roches (personal) were the only three Bucs to miss practice today.

That’s almost the good news.

Worse is 10 other Bucs were limited in practice, and they’re big names: Jamel Dean (toe), Mike Edwards (hamstring), Carl Nassib (pectoral), Vita Vea (calf) and Antoine Winfield, Jr. (ankle) on defense, and Tristan Wirfs (ankle), Donovan Smith (foot), Cade Otton (quad) and Julio Jones (knee) on offense.

The rest of the roster was full-go.

Interestingly, the significant foot injury Leonard Fournette announced on Twitter after Sunday’s game (and then quickly deleted) didn’t show up on the injury report.

The Davis shoulder seems to be a new injury and one worth monitoring, especially if Dean remains hobbled.

Two years in a row of non-stop injuries. Sucks!

We were incredibly healthy in 2020 when we won it all. Usually the teams that make it to, and win the SB, have a season of good luck when it comes to player health.

  2. Casual Observer Says:

Unbelievable – Good point. Seems like more injuries everywhere this year.

  3. Manny Says:

I think im gonna be sick

  4. NEfan Says:

Soft team, no doubt Carolina players aren’t whining.

  5. Allbuccedup Says:

Its going to get a lot worse before it gets better players are getting bigger and stronger.

  6. Gofortheface30 Says:

Don’t believe in that sort of luck. Some guys simply get hurt more than others, and are just injury probe. And we seem to have a lot of those guys. I really hope a lot of our players aren’t following Alex Guerreros super PSEUDOSCIENCE routine.

  7. Zoocomics Says:

Relax, I think we’re overthinking this report. Every player appears to be banged up throughout the season, this isn’t unusual, the fact that they were out there and limited is more of a positive than negative. I think this team will be putting everyone that is on this list out there this weekend, it’s that big. Nelson, Davis and Nacho will also be playing this weekend. We can worry about rest in week 17.

  8. NEfan Says:

Surprised, Davis is usually a mid game scratch.

  9. Anonymous Says:

Davis always hurt man, as long as Winfield plays but he been hurt too

“Two years in a row of non-stop injuries.”

Well, we still managed to win 13 games last year. I’d take that about now.

  12. Will Says:

I remember a certain coach calling out Davis and saying he finally learned how to play while being dinged up. Where’s BA when you need him to call out guys for playing soft or not playing well?

  13. Jeff Says:

    Dude always looks high.

  14. Randy Bowers Says:

Maybe they all can get some maxi pads from their female trainers

  15. Mort Says:

Some of you commenters make me embarrassed to be part of this fan base. Sexist comments, dismissing the very real injuries these dudes suffer for your entertainment. Just be better people.

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

Leftwurst has suffered chronic doofusosis all year, and illnesses should be reported.

Bowels has been a walking case of diverticulosis all year, and again, that should be reported.

Obviously both suffered severe brain injuries somewhere along the way this season and neither has recovered. They should be put on IR.

    Jason, time to act.

A true fan supports their team through good times and bad, some of you so called fan are waggonists.when the team was not winning anything for so many years where were you.The team wins a Super Bowl and had a very successful year after that, yet some of you acting like spoilt children.

  18. Ranger Walker Says:

    Well said Derek & Mort

This is what happens when you have Veteran Players…awesome guys but because of age or years spent playing the game and previous injuries it doesn’t take much to acquire an injury. Too many Rookies & that’s bad too- as the talent factor has to be proven. The team needs to be 50/50 Both Rookies & Veterans to carry the load each week to bring us to a Super Bowl WIN!!! We have too many banged up Veteran players and that is the reason why our team struggles each week. But really it’s the lack of younger players and our Coaching Staff.
