“Normally I’d Be Shipping Cars Home”

December 28th, 2022

Bucs receiver Russell Gage.

Joe sure hopes every Buccaneer is as hungry as receiver Russell Gage seems to be.

The Bucs’ biggest-money free agent signing of the 2022 offseason has caught 45 balls and a team-leading 4 touchdowns. But he’s had a relatively quiet year overall battling a bad hamstring since training camp and other injury issues.

Gage said today he’s at his healthiest now and is completely jacked up for a shot to make the playoffs after four seasons of different late-December planning as a member of the Falcons.

“Normally, I’d be shipping cars home,” Gage told reporters today via Twitter video from @JennaLaineESPN.

“This is why I came here,” Gage said of his postseason dreams in free agency. He added that he’s feeling “a lot more juice.”

The Bucs have newcomers, like Akiem Hicks, Julio Jones, Keanu Neal and Gage ,who don’t have Super Bowl rings like most Bucs starters. Perhaps their appreciation and fire about being one-win from the playoffs will rub off on teammates.

Or, perhaps the head coach can more than offset the juice with his flaccid philosophy, motivationally debilitating practice sessions, and stubborn refusal to change.

Panthers come in as the hot and hungry team. Bucs come in like it’s 1976.

  2. Winky Says:

It’s uncomfortable to me, the idea that an emotionally unstable coach, somehow has more passion. I would call it, being an unsteady person trying to lead. But that’s just me I guess

  3. unbelievable Says:

But Goatfamer, did you forget? There’s nothing that needs to be said, according to our blundering head coach.

  4. THETRUTH Says:

Everything we complain about with offense scheme is same thing we said in Dungy years and now we have a lesser version of dungy

With the o-line underperforming leading to Brady’s understandable penchant for ultra-quick releases, the one thing that COULD propel this team? Quick receivers getting open….wait for it….quickly.

Gage and Godwin are the 2 guys Brady can work magic with in his ultra-quick release. I said it months ago, if Gage and Godwin are healthy, they will be the chain-movers, with Julio and Mike being bigger sideline threats and down-field threats, IF there’s enough time to throw.

We really need to go 4-wide on passing downs, and when the o-line gives up 10 yards of cushion to the opposing front-four, Brady always has his RB check-down/outlets.

We know what Godwin brings, and Gage seems to be a guy to bring some juice, too. Let’s hope those 2 guys can bring a spark to this offense. Something, someone needs to bring IT.

    GO BUCS!!!

Since we are still talking about our bad coaching…I got this little nugget for you guys (specially for all the Arians haters).
If you want proof of how good Arians was as our head coach; please go back and take a look at the 2020 SuperBowl at Ray Jay, in it’s entirety.

Arians was our 12 man in the field!

Love this guy and I wish he was in the sidelines again for Brady’s farewell tour.

    Tod ain’t it, for sure

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Gage is a gamer……makes plays……if he is healthy, he will help us….

Design shorter routes for all the WRs…….Gage, Godwin & Julio can all get YAC.

Don’t forget Thompkins….they seem to be working him into the offense along with ST.

  8. PewterStiffArm Says:

It better rub off this weekend because at the end of it if we don’t produce a W next week he will be shipping his cars home. Don’t get complacent and if we get a turnover don’t run into the enzone like you have won the game. Stick to the plan: Score, get turnovers and defend against the run, period!

  9. Crickett Baker Says:

What does he mean? Shipping cars home? What is that?

  10. NEfan Says:

Hicks didn’t get a ring as a Patriot?

  11. sasquatch Says:

    Shipping cars home?

Aaaah, the problems of the .01%. How many fugging cars do you need? How about 1.

  12. Buc4evr Says:

Geez, poor Gage, if I were him I’d ship the cars home now. Unless Leftwurst has a revelation, this offense isn’t going to do anything against Carolina.

  13. Crickett Baker Says:

What cars? More confounding stuff from our team..smh

  14. Old School Bucs Says:

This weekend begins the Bucs road to the superbowl! The money season begins on New Years Day and the Bucs will lead the way!

  15. Stanglassman Says:

The Russell Gage Corporation is a licensed and DOT registered trucking company running freight hauling.

He and his company ships cars.

  16. FortMyersDave Says:

We hear a lot of hype from Gage and I am glad he is motivated but will it matter much if Leftwich calls Fournette up the gut for 1 yard on first down and then a -1 yard screen on second and then Tampa has a 3rd and long in which TB 12 will get 6 or 8 yards to Gage or Godwin but it is 3rd and 10 so we have 4th and 2 and then a punt? Rinse and repeat. The problem is Leftwich, muzzle him and go no huddle and the Bucs might have a chance if the defense can stop the ****ing run. I hope the Bucs manage to win this one but the injury report tells me the Panthers might be a safe bet, this ****ing team is soft.

  17. Delusional Intelligence Says:

    a team-leading 4 touchdowns.

This is an indicator something is wrong with the offense on sooo many levels.

  18. SKBucsFan Says:

@ TheTruth. You are correct. Except Dungy didn’t have Tom Brady and a stable of receivers. Although Brady has been playing like Trent Dilfer lately.

  19. Dick Hertz Says:

The offensive line can’t block or protect Brady. I don’t know how you fix that right now. Maybe fire the cannon on their ass. Brady can run the offense he doesn’t need plays called. Hell coach doesn’t even know when to call time out.
