They Ain’t Dead Yet

November 13th, 2022

Relaxed.

Wow, what a statement game the Bucs had tonight. Well, the second half was played in the dark of the chilly Bavarian night.

Joe knows lucky Bucs fans were still hitting Blody Marys at the Big Storm Brewery taproom in Clearwater.

The Seahawks are a damn good team with a good quarterback resurrected from the dead. A strong rookie running back, too, and one of the best wide receivers in the NFL with a resurgent defense.

Joe couldn’t tell what to make of the win over the Rams last week. The Bucs stunk for 55 minutes or so and then flipped a switch. The Rams lost that game as much as the Bucs won it. And the Bucs scored only 16 points.

But today was much different. The Bucs almost looked like their 2021 team. They dictated on offense and played stout defense. This was the Bucs team we all expected since training camp.

Joe has no idea why the Bucs seemed to snap out of it. Tom Brady looks worlds more relaxed than he did a few weeks ago. Is winning the only thing off his shoulders?

Akiem Hicks came back to the lineup last week and don’t try to tell Joe his presence on the defensive line isn’t felt all the way back to the secondary. Rachaad White may have pushed Playoff Lenny for a lot more snaps, and with Playoff Lenny now hurt with a bum hip, maybe White now starts again like he did today?

Chris Godwin looks like the Chris Godwin of old and tonight he admitted he’s close to 100 percent,

Cade Otton looks more and more reliable. Brady had all sorts of time to throw. You know that helps.

Did the warmth of German women, perhaps when the Bucs got to explore Munich, give the Bucs a needed mental boost?

Joe doesn’t know if either of these factors is a critical key, but the Bucs seem to be back.

Welcome back, Bucs!

    2-0 since divorce.

  2. unbelievable Says:

Seems like Brady has had a different attitude since the divorce got finalized.

Could be a coincidence, but he just didn’t look the same early this year outside of a few drives / moments.

The o-line is also playing better, so he prob is trusting them a bit more. Run game coming alive with White as well, which obviously helps Brady.

  3. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The Bucs played like “Dawgs” (Lavonte David’s term, I borrowed)

They handled business, offense and defense, I thought. Except for that one play.
But Brady made the tackle with his leg, lol

  4. Buddha Says:

Hicks is the key to the Buccaneers stopping the run. He also opens up lanes for the linebackers and defensive ends. He’s a force when healthy. Kudos to the coaching staff for fixing the rush defense that gave up only 17 yards other than Gino’s scrambles. Buccaneers were the energetic team this week. White earned the start. If Julio can stay healthy, the Buccaneers offense can get back to what it was last year.

Momentum can be key coming out if the bye week!! LFG!!

  6. Casual Observer Says:

Hicks is a great add after his injury. And Godwin looks like his old self. All good.

Joe….watch out for those German women….I understand if you look closely some of them have Adam’s apples…..

  8. orlbucfan Says:

You mean Brady is still walking? Wow.

  9. Redeemer Says:

Hicks and Vea did their jobs, tying up blocks so the linebackers could flow to the ball. On offense I think they took Brady’s effort comments to heart. They opened holes in the running game, and were very efficient in the passing game. I’m about done with LF. White clearly has more burst and better vision.

TampaBayBucsFan lmao…The red army killed alot of their breeding men and the Satanist amerikans turned their society weird and woke…

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

Joe – some drinking stories from Munich would be nice.

But today was much different. The Bucs almost looked like their 2021 team.

Did you miss the scoreboard? They scored 21 points instead of putting Seattle away. That’s not what they did in 2020 or 2021 when they’re averaging more than a TD more a game.

  13. stpetebucfan Says:

People were understandably calling for Suh. His presence was missed but only because Hicks was injured. With Hicks back the past two weeks the D is starting to resemble it’s former self when either Suh or a healthy Hicks was out there making Vea that much more effective as well as our LB play improving.

  14. Miller5252 Says:

The boys deserve some site seeing after that game! You guys have fun just make sure Brady doesn’t need penicillin after you guys are done partying. Stay locked in and finish the regular season undefeated.

  15. Mikejp Says:

It is simple, the Bucs sucked because Tom Brady had only 2 reliable options. Godwin needs time to recover, while Gage is a trash. Now he has a good Godwin, and so so receivers of Jones and Otton.

  16. Clapton is God! Says:

Amazing fact. Nobody talking about Tommy’s age anymore as bein a problem. Couple of throws to Godwin and specially that throw to Otten were absolute laser shots. Few in the league make those throws. His arm is as good as ever.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

StPete … Bucs DLine is reasonably healthy right now with Hicks & Vea. But IF either one of them goes down again, we’ll be right back to having trouble stopping the run. DEPTH is important in the regular season; it’s critical in the post-season. Our BYE is coming at a very good time to get even more guys healthy.

  18. D-Rok Says:

    DR,

I still think we NEED Suh for the playoff run/push. 3 man rotation with Hicks, Vea, and Suh? We’d be set at D-line, and we all know how important a quality D-line is.

And how about them boys on the O-line? Wow they played great.

Great team win, and a win we needed!

  19. Lea Says:

Totallly unnecessary the joke about German women

  20. Buc king Says:

    Key players…Tryon .. punter… Brady… Godwin.. Jones…
    White n white …
    Sprinkles of evans .. fournette

The rest of the team played well…
I’m still waiting on David to start showing up and more turnovers from defense would be nice to see.

    Some short field advantages.

Like to see the defense stay strong and dominate 4qts..
So many plays of inches that we could of did better with..
That 4th down to should of been stopped.

  21. Crickett Baker Says:

Did you guys forget that Hicks had two egregious penalties? He helped but he was also a detriment. I hope he improves.

  22. LakelandSteve Says:

Looks like divorce finally agrees with Brady. Brady looks so much more focused, loose and looks like he is enjoying the game a little bit more. He also looked like the weight of the world is off of his shoulders, well at least about 130 pounds.

  23. Bunny Says:

Yeah BUCS are alive and doing well they can’t regress now, only progress and they with continued improvements all around, they have a good chance as any team in there!

  24. garro Says:

    Hicks is a MONSTER!!!
They had him miced up and isolated on film. Man I found myself feeling sorry for the offensive linemen having to go head up on this beast.

  25. garro Says:

I think you nailed it Joe especially Brady being more comfortable. And Hicks return helps the whole D.
