“It Puts Too Much Stress On The Passing Game”

November 14th, 2022

Tom Brady is a happy guy. Not even being cornered in a German hallway by an old dude with a microphone could take the smile off his face.

In the postgame bowels of the Bucs’ “home game” stadium in Munich, Germany, Brady did a 1-on-1 interview with iconic NBC Sports NFL insider Peter King.

King advised Brady that yesterday against Seattle, the Bucs had their three longest scoring drives of the season in time of possession, and each TD drive was 85 or more yards.

Brady seemed highly impressed by the numbers and he credited the revived running game success and effective play-action passing, among other things.

“When you run it well, you know, you don’t have to be in dropback protection all day [which] puts too much stress on the passing game,” Brady said. “You don’t want to be one-dimensional, and we’ve been one-dimensional too many times this year. So, the fact that we didn’t have as many pass attempts, I love. You know, the fact that we ran some play-action, I love. Guys made plenty of big plays in the pass game and I still think we had more out there to get to.”

Amen, Tom.

As Julio Jones said, the Bucs offense was “effortless” against the Seahawks. Joe thinks it was the first game in which Julio experienced the offense he thought on signed on with back in July.

Joe, when does Jensen come back? And when he does will Hainsey move to guard?

  2. donuts Says:

Hainsey looked hurt yesterday – bad knee/leg. He was hopping around. If Jensen returns, I see him riding the pine. Leverett has been that good.

  3. Redeemer Says:

You don’t need a dominant running game, just good enough. Brady’s passer rating on play action, is considerably higher than his drop back numbers. If the bucs are going anywhere, the threat of the run has to be there.

  4. D-Rok Says:

“It puts the lotion….” Oh sorry, another thread.

We looked good yesterday. Not great, not perfect, but the team showed marked improvement, and I’m quite pleased at the improvement.

Let’s keep building on that success, Bucs, and grind out some more wins and get yourselves into decent playoff contention.

I said playoffs. At this point, it’s fair to to (prematurely) ask: If the Bucs get into the playoffs, which team will show up – the good Bucs like yesterday or the bad Bucs like weeks 2-9?

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Tom Brady is a happy guy.

    ———

Of course he’s happy, he’s single and currently buried 6-deep in 22-year old Brazilian supermodels.

  6. Anonymous Says:

Tom Brady is free of his unsupportive and nagging ex-wife. The grass is greener on the other side for him. While Gisele will have guys like Pete Davidson acting like they’re interested in her, but only for short term fun

  7. Jack Sparrow Says:

He’s happy no more whinny wife after he gets home from a win or lose game. He can relax, put his feet up and start eating pizza, wings and beer. Life is short.

  8. Winky Says:

Growth means transformation. Seeing positive growth. Sky is the limit.

They believe in themselves and each other.

    Go BUCS!

  9. Redeemer Says:

D-Rok, so powerful, so beautiful. The running game I mean

  10. SKBucsFan Says:

Running well against a team that’s weak against the run should help build some confidence. It’s the play action that actually makes the difference.

  11. Noles Says:

    Lol

Rod I think it’s every other nationalities besides Brazilian…. Too soon for that… lol

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Noles – I’m pretty sure he’d pick Brazilian exactly for that reason, plus they’re super hot. But he can have whatever he wants, he’s Tom Brady.

  13. NEfan Says:

Latest Giselle sighting hanging out with her ju jitsu instructor. Guy is looking for a yummy mommy with scratch to boot.

  14. unbelievable Says:

Giselle already has a new man. Was training with his brothers for the last year… oof.

Post-divorce Tom Brady is gonna bring the pain to the rest of the league (I hope).

  15. Redeemer Says:

G out, Brady in. I have little doubt that his mind is right now. On his predilection for ladies, stay away from those fiery zillians. The goat needs a calming influence, not a head strong mid life crisis waiting to happen

  16. Winny Testaverde Says:

In a tale/tradition as old as time…of course Super G already has a “backfill” for Mr. Brady. And of course she already has her kids around the yoga pant wearing fella. Good riddance I say…but I feel bad for those kids nonetheless.

  17. Goatfarmer Says:

For sure Leftwurst got confused and ran run game coordinator Harold Goodwin’s favorite running plays instead of his own. He’ll fix that in time for the Browns and the run game will get back to its usual atrocious, historically bad state.

  18. Infomeplease Says:

Good to see a more balanced approach, as well as, the ability to run once the team was winning. When you can control the clock, keeping the opponents offense off the field, your defense stays fresher and can execute more effectively. And their’s not so much!!

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I hope Tommy is lonely and miserable & wants to play football for another couple of years with his beloved Buc Brothers.

  20. SufferingSince76 Says:

Joe has previously said when he knows what’s going on with Jensen he’ll let us know. So nothing is going on with Jensen at the moment, apparently.

  21. Alanbucsfan Says:

Seahawks have the 4th worst rushing D in the league
One game doesn’t mean it’s fixed, but it was a much needed start.

  22. JimmyfromNY Says:

Read with you that’s that is a bit misleading the past five games they were near tops in the league in several defensive categories. Either way it gives a good insight to what this o can be if they can move the ball on the ground just a little bit. Brady was impeccable distributing the ball down the field

  23. JimmyfromNY Says:

    Sorry I agree

  24. AbucAway Says:

The ink isn’t even dry on the divorce decree and super G is introducing the kids to new guy. I wonder how long the’ve been ‘training’?
Hopefully this will be water on a duck’s back for Tom and he continues to focus and get right with the offense

  25. Ed Says:

The offense hasn’t been one dimensional at all. I would call it more zero dimensional.

  26. Rod Munch Says:

Hint for Leftwich…. to have an effective play-action, you need to actually call play-action passes.

  27. Chop block Says:

The Buc’s are 2 different teams when Julio & Hicks are playing healthy.
Not to mention the loss of Logan Ryan hasn’t helped the secondary,
but if they can stay on point & rattle off a few wins after the bye hopefully
Ryan will be back soon after as well as Jensen, just in time for the playoffs.
As for now though we need Julio & Hicks on the field, healthy, & contributing
    to Tampa Bay W’s. LFG Buc’s 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽

  28. garro Says:

Note to Bryon ….when we said more imaginative play calling ….Thats not what we meant!!!
