Amazing Streak By Tom Brady Snapped By Scared Coaching

November 28th, 2022

218-1.

A Bucs coach (twice) didn’t want to go for the kill shot on fourth-and-short in Cleveland territory in the fourth quarter.

Joe assumes the same coach thought he got a rebate on leftover timeouts on Monday morning. Unlike Thanksgiving leftovers, you cannot eat timeouts left over from the previous day.

Call it what you will, but that was simply scared coaching — play-it-safe, don’t-make-a-mistake, hope-for-the-best coaching. That’s not grabbing the game by the balls, that’s dropping your pants.

And it resulted in one of the biggest scars on Tom Brady’s storied record that was previously unblemished. Prior to the waved-white-flag-loss to Cleveland yesterday, Brady was a perfect 218-0 when his team held at least a seven-point lead with under two minutes to play.

Joe hopes folks at One Buc Palace who get paid handsomely to (not?) coach are mighty proud of themselves this morning.

Yeah, everyone’s accountable on the team. Sure. Just not the guys walking on the sidelines with headsets.

Utter travesty. Disgusting. Much worse than Leeman Bennett.
    Glazers must be embarrassed

  2. Cometowin2 Says:

Worst coaching staff since Leeman Bennett and Ray Perkins. Afraid to go at 4th and 2 from the Brown’s 37. If I was the Glazers I would make a change just for that not to even speak on the miss use of the timeouts. What ever happened to No risk it No biscuit??? Definitely was Arians philosophy not Bowles.

I’ve seen virtually every Buc game ever and never have I seen such a miss use of talent. I originally thought it was Leftwich but this has Bowles fingerprints all over it. Clean house of this pathetic coaching staff.

  3. Bucsthis Says:

It’s kind of sad for these elite players like Brady and Evans to be wasted away by p!SS poor coaching. If I was Jason Licht, I would be making the call for some coaching changes asap

  4. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady should be embarrassed by this season, and it’s not all on him. He was super human last year because he had to be. Putting everything on him this year was just a bad strategy. This offense was lights out last year, but he had to bail the team out on third and longs. He can’t overcome that this year.

There’s been a lot of bad firsts for him this season. A second losing season in 23 years is on the horizon. Joe I just refuse to believe that Brady has regressed this bad that this team can’t even score 20 points. This team has the worse running game in football history! How can anyone overcome that ineptness? We played the worse run defense in the league and couldn’t do squat!! I’m absolutely convinced that Brady still calls Josh McDaniels and vents to him.

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

Harsh stuff Joe, and you’re absolutely right.
It’s a damn crime what this “coaching” staff is doing to this team.
Keep holding these losers feet to the fire and hopefully some heads roll.

  6. LastDance Says:

Doesn’t matter. This whole season is a fracking debacle and a stain on TB12 that he will want to wipe clean. If anyone out there believes another QB could excel with these sh!t for brains coaches, you do not have my respect as a football fan or as a halfway intelligent ape.

  8. Tye Says:

The only way the owners can save face from such embarrassment is firing someone….
This team has such potential on offense and defense BUT the sheer ignorance of Bowles coaching is dragging the team down..

  9. Adrnagy Says:

Joe get over it. When it’s not d. White being blame it’s bowles or leftwich. It shows you like to ignite bs. You should rather write about how poor d. Smith played. Or why didn’t brady called a timeout or where was hicks and vea today.
Bottom line you can blame whomever but Brady is playing QB. He’s throwing the ball. Isn’t he the goat ? .
One post it’s fine but you keep harping on same bs over and over. I’m done with this site.

  10. DrunkinYbor Says:

Adragy… Would you shut your stinking pie hole. Dur Dur Dur Joe get over it. No sir You like to enhale and smell B.S.. Joes are die hard BUCS fan. You! You Sissy skin.cry baby, needs to go get a Tampon. I ain’t seen you round here ever. Deuces cry boy! Don’t let the door knob hit ya where the good lord spilt ya. Adragy another fake fan go eat a bag of rainbow 🌈 Skittles I’m sure you love to lick lick lick each flavor

  11. Oneilbuc Says:

This is more of a Brady fan website all Joe and the rest of the fans on here is make excuses for Brady. Brady will never be held accountable on this site and it’s not all of his fault but he’s is one of the main reason why this offense sucks. This is the same offense from 2020 without AB and Gronk if Brady got all the credit or most of the credit in 2020 than he must get the same blame. Defense has been holding teams under 20 points or less a game and the offense can’t score.

  12. Manny Says:

Thats an incredible feat and such a shame it ended. Why not try the fueld goal? Im also a ravems fan so im used to long fgs being easy. Im also tired of people saying tom sucks and should take his business elsewhere next year. If you really want trask, you must be dumb. The guy is a bust and you will ve cring to bring tom back when hes winning with a better coach.

On another note, i dont think joe liked my comment referring to tristan wirfs. I basically said all that matters right now is how hes doing. When hes been hurt, the oline falls apart. Its really really scary. Enough articles about things we already know which bowles is an idiot and leftwich is clueless. Its like when you hire your own friends for jobs and your just too scared to fire them.

JOE AS AN EVERY DAY JOEBUCSFAN USER, POST AS MUCH ON TRISTAN WIRFS STATUS AS YOU CAN. If WE LOSE HIM, were def toast. You know its true. If we want to make the playoffs, he has to be healthy.

  13. Joe Says:

Harsh stuff Joe, and you’re absolutely right.

Thanks. Joe gets no joy out of it. 🙁 Has to be documented though. Such a needless waste.

  14. Bucsfan13 Says:

When Mina Kimes, not known to be a Brady fan, comes to his defense, I know this offense is broken. To all who say Brady isn’t being blamed enough, the national media has been killing him and some Bucs fans. You have plenty on this board calling for Trask to start. I can’t say it enough. This team has the worse running game in history, and yet we continue to run on first down. To those complaining that Leftwich doesn’t get enough credit, he had plenty of job interviews last year.

Here’s what I know: When Leftwich was the OC in AZ, he had a bottom 5 offense. He also ran David Johnson up the gut on first down. This is who he is. He firmly believes in establishing the run and that starts with first down runs. Are we gonna blame Brady for BL’s performance in AZ.

Do any of you know the meaning of play sequencing? Sure, BL and Brady can work on parts of the game plan, but BL is calling the plays every drive. It’s up to him to not be predictable.

  15. Crickett Baker Says:

Well, I loved the article and especially the 3rd paragraph. I was one who said to give Todd a chance, “He has only been here since March”, I said. “He hasn’t even had time to evaluate his coaches, yet”, I stated. “We need to give him at least a year to get his feet under him”, I opined. Well, he showed me today that I was wrong. He does not have a winning demeanor. I don’t care what color his skin is as I would give some off my back if he was not the HC anymore. After what he said about the overtime thing, today, I saw he could never be even a decent HC. NEVER. I can now see why all the rotten playcalling exists. Paragraph three.

  16. HC Grover Says:

Bowles the Clown…simply football stupid. Ever since the famous Kupp Blunder that cost the Super Bowl. Then they made him head coach as a reward. This Blunder is even worse than the Kupp Blunder, but not as infamous. Stupid coaching decisions like this are not mistakes. They are all part of his Prevent Game Plans. Simple mistakes can be forgiven because everyone makes mistakes. He actually thinks he is doing the right thing. The question is not will he Blunder but rather how and when he will Blunder, and whether or not it will cost the game.

  17. BrianBucs Says:

Dungyball is alive and well in Tampa Bay.
Bowles and his offensive philosophy are wasting Tom Brady.
Coaching today showed absolutely no guts or confidence.
Bowles is who he is and isn’t going to change.
Personally I think in a couple of big moments today Bowles choked.
I believe that Bowles is a good man and a good influence and has good character. However that doesn’t make him a good NFL head coach

  18. steele Says:

Brady is held accountable plenty. Look at each play. There are multiple factors. Overall, even in bad games, Brady is not the worst problem by any stretch.

I don’t care who the QB is. Anyone present or past would have great difficulty with what this coaching regime saddles you with. Bad situational, bad plays period. There’s no spark in any of the plays. Even Browns made Jacoby Brissett look good today by comparison. (I imagine Brady and his former teammate had things to say after the game. Like “I feel sorry for you, Tom.”)

  19. Bucsfan13 Says:

I’ll say it because most fans don’t want to criticize our beloved Mike Evans: He gave up on some of those routes. I mean he flat out loafed. Yes, there were a couple of overthrows, but sometimes Mike didn’t even try. Brady is a timing QB, and Evans has a habit of lazy route running. That’s why those two don’t have chemistry! Why not have Godwin run deep routes? He’s more than a intermediate guy, and he was feasting. The old Tom Brady would’ve kept feeding Godwin. This new Brady succumbs to pressure too often and will force it to Evans. Godwin was moving the chains. I’ll reserve total judgement until I see some analysis on the all 22.

Also, why is that Brady has to be damn near perfect for us to have any chance or winning. He’s the only QB that’s not allowed to have a bad throw. There were plenty of issues, but all you hear from fans are about his overthrows. Mahomes and Allen can have bad throws, and yet their fan base don’t constantly throw them under the bus. Mahomes had an average game against the Rams today. My biggest criticism of Brady this game was that he didn’t throw to Godwin enough. He’s your best receiver, Tommy. Inexcusable

  20. captivajim Says:

Dam shame for toiletbowles & leftworst to waste the talents of Brady , Evans , Godwin, and even Julio & others …..If Brady had those 13 seconds-enough for 2 plays -we could have gotten another 15+yrds for a winning field goal……

the worst part is , howver , Glazers are Not going to make any changes -none: Toiletbowls& Leftworst are protected species……

  21. BucsBro Says:

People whining about Joe making multiple articles on the coaching failures today?

I hope he makes 10 more articles. It was that bad, that frustrating, and that much of a dagger for the little momentum the season had.

The coaches are making Brady look like a barely-average QB. That’s hard to do, but they’re doing it.

Also someone mentioned Evans. Brady has never had great chemistry with Evans, and it’s for (partly) the reason that was mentioned — Evans gives up on routes. Also, I don’t think Evans reads routes the same way Brady does many times, and in the Tampa offense that means receivers end up in spots the QB doesn’t expect them to be in.

Evans had like 9 targets today but just 2 catches I think. That’s not an accident. Meanwhile Godwin was like 12 catches in 13 targets.

Evans was always a luxury guy, red zone guy, for Brady. When Gronk, AB and Godwin were around. When Brady has to rely heavily on Evans it doesn’t work.

I’ve been down on Byron plenty this year, but I’ve been giving Bowles the benefit of the doubt. Not anymore. Playing scared on the 4th-and-2, and then not taking the timeout was it for me.

I actually did a Google search for “Bowles timeout” and apparently he had a similar issue with the Jets in like 2018, right before the half.

Now we see why Brady wanted to link up with Payton and head to Miami. Maybe lesser talent, but coaching is king. Just look at the sorry Saints this year after Payton left town.

No way Brady comes back to this next year.

  22. Rubyslippers Says:

Tom Brady is getting exactly what he deserves. He worked hard to have Ariana’s fired. Now he’s got an inept coach, too bad, so sad. Brady should have remained retired.

  23. MelvinJunior Says:

BucsFan13 – YES. Shoulda heard Michael Clayton on the radio BLASTIN’ HIM, but I was thinking tho, that I bet that had A LOT More to do with HIM trying to ‘deflect’ blame from his ol’ buddy, “Lefty.”

  24. Hodad Says:

You are what your record says you are. Todd Bowles record as a HC speaks for itself.

  25. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

As forest Gumps mother once said; ‘forest, stupid is what stupid does’.
But then again, when Bowles is gone, there’s always another lovie smith replacement in waiting. This has all kinds of overtones. I’d hate to be licht this week…..

  26. Defense Rules Says:

    Yes Joe ‘EVERYONE’S accountable’.

O Todd Bowles is accountable, as both a HC & DC. As a HC he could win I think with a really strong OC. With BL as his OC, he’s toast. Reason? Bowles doesn’t trust his offense nearly as much as he trusts his defense. We saw that yesterday. Punting on 4th down from the Browns 38 is the proof. BTW, he also doesn’t trust his S/Ts.

O Byron Leftwich is accountable. He has no business being our coordinator. It’s the classic ‘deer in the headlights’ syndrome.

O Tom Brady is accountable. He’s an incredible QB IMO, but he comes with limitations at age 45 that are killing us. Even though you keep propping up this OLine Joe, it’s a disaster … for a 45 year old, immobile QB. Its run blocking sucks, and 45 year old Brady NEEDS a strong running game to survive. Its pass blocking also sucks, but our OLine isn’t CONSISTENTLY creating a pocket that 45 year old immobile Brady can work with. A QB like Mahomes or Allen might be able to compensate for this OLine’s weaknesses; 45 year old, immobile Brady can’t.

O Other players on this team are accountable. To figure out who, just ask yourself ‘Who stepped up to CONSISTENTLY make BIG PLAYS’ yesterday’? Chris Godwin did. Care to name anyone else?

O Most of all though, Jason Licht is accountable. Neither you Joe nor a single commenter that I saw has mentioned his role in this debacle. He gets a pass? Horsepucky. This roster is a disaster because it spent far too much on dinosaurs and lacks quality DEPTH. Plus the very fact that BL’s still here right now tells me that JL isn’t doing his job. It’s the GM’s responsibility to hire … AND FIRE. Start by doing your own job Jason.

  27. adam from ny Says:

the glazers are slowly losing brady because they’re keeping these bad coaches in the building…

send these limp biscuits outta here asap and get back on track before tommy b completely bails mentally

  28. Bucsfanman Says:

Stop the “oh Joe” crybaby routine! How could Joe possibly recount EVERY SINGLE FLAW of this team in every single post?!

Yesterday was a kick in the groin to Bucs fans! Chris Godwin played well, that’s about it.
There were too many mistakes ON the field on offense, defense, and (not so) special teams.
Missed tackles and over-pursuit, not to mention bonehead penalties (Devin!) allowed Cleveland to run roughshod. If I were the Browns’ HC I wouldn’t have thrown a single pass.
Offensively, the OL got man-handled and Brady kept overthrowing open WRs. Do we have an actual TE?!
On special teams, Darden fair catches a ball with the nearest defender having a boxed lunch on the other side of midfield…oh, and we can’t cover or tackle!
Coaching was arguably the worst and has been well-chronicled.
This team has no killer instinct at all.

Truth be told, this is NOT a good football team right now and there is absolutely ZERO reasoning for this.

  29. Bucsfan13 Says:

@DR. Mahomes lost to us in the SB with a bad OL. Don’t give me that BS about a mobile QB. Justin Herbert has struggled with a bad OL and he’s mobile. What’s his excuse? Stop throwing Brady under the bus. Allen can also sail passes over his receivers’ head without fans wanting him benched unlike Brady. Keep putting this on Tom. DR is fancy with his stats, but does he actually watch the All 22? A mobile QB wouldn’t be a cure for this team. Mobile QBs also take bad sacks by attempting to extend plays. Brady is an easy target for this team.

Once again, are any fans gonna call out Evans for poor route running. Michael Clayton has been the only local guy with stones to call out Evans. Receivers rarely call one of their own out. Let that sink in! Brady made an absolute mistake by coming back to this team.

  30. Colonel Angus Says:

Brady is a true Buccaneer now.

  31. JimmyfromNY Says:

Such laughable takes. Brady Mrs. throws everything just like every other quarterback in football if we get the ball 46 times yesterday and missed three or four passes two of them overthrows to Mike Evans, who if you watch the route slow down on both of them the other two he barely fought through contact , one of them in overtime was a perfect throw in between 3 defenders he did not even bother to extend for it . So when you don’t run, the ball have no offensive line and you’re number one receiver is basically quit this season you’re expecting a 45 year quarterback, to win every game. Laughable.

  32. Allbuccedup Says:

It irks me to think about this coaching staff without Brady it will be a total disaster.

  33. John Olmstead Says:

A coaching staff that cannot win with Tom Brady, cannot win period. If TB12 plays next year, it will not be with the Bucks. Granted the Bucks can’t run the ball, but this staff is too stubborn adjust to that reality. Time to make a change and get Trask some reps for next year.

  34. stvcl Says:

Think about any contending team in the NFC right now…do you really think the Buccaneers would stand a chance against any of them? The Bucs are not a good team now and with the loss of Wirfs even more so. The team is not buying what Todd Bowles is selling and neither am I.

  35. Duane Says:

It took a team effort for all three phases to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yesterday. I thought the defense played well until the end. Time of possession is a big deal, and if you give a crappy team like the Browns twice as much of it , most teams will lose. Plenty of blame to go around. Offense was consistently inconsistent all day. A coaching change is not likely to fix this mess. There is this notion that the team is failing because the talent is not being put in the best positions to succeed. I wonder if this team has the talent. I lay the clock management at the feet of the GOAT. Our coverage teams are horrible because we kept roster spots open overpaid veterans that dont play special teams. Was a total team effort from top to bottom of this organization to underperform so deeply into this season. We were likely looking at this kind of success when Brady retired last season. Totally bizarre that we still get it after going all in on keeping most of this team intact.

  36. alton green Says:

I watched ESPN this morning for the sole purpose of watching the commentators rip Tod Bowles a new arse. Hardly a word mentioned about the gift of 13 seconds lost. All they showed was Tom’s incomplete passes. What is Tom famous for? leading a comeback to win the game. Todd threw a wrench in the wheel to cause the Bucs to lose. Screw this ESPN show

  37. NEfan Says:

DR, how can you defend Bowles? You of all people got what you wanted, RUN more. Well Bowles heard you. Bowles took this team from a pass first team to a force feed the run team, keep it close let the D win the game. The last two seasons the O averaged 31 points/game. Sure the oline isn’t what it was but it’s not like the Bucs were a good run team the last two seasons. The man was 218-0 with the lead late in the 4th and Bowels punts??? Brady is the ALL-TIME leader in comeback wins 55 of them, wasn’t he at the Rams game? Bowels holds the TO burning 13 seconds, that’s two more plays to get in FG range. I don’t care who you are as QB, when Smith throws a lookout block letting Garrett run free they aren’t dodging or running away from that sack. Bowles has lost the locker room and his strategy is killing this team, especially the O. Also by far the worst Mike Evan’s game I’ve seen, never pegged him as a quitter, either that or he’s out of shape. The first sack Brady had all the time in the world except when they panned his view NO receivers were open, which is scary in itself. Was it Bradys best game, absolutely not but a good coach always puts the ball in its best players hands in crunch time let alone the best ever. STOP defending Bowles, he is a two approaching three time LOSER!!!

  38. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

This coaching staff is made up of ALL ASSISTANTS and NO HEAD COACH.

    WE NEED BA!!!!

WE NEED HIM COMING INTO THE MEETING ROOM ON FRIDAY AND SCRUBBING JUNK PLAYS LIKE PREVIOUS SEASONS!!!

AND WE OBVIOUSLY NEED HIM ON THE HEADSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (Oldschool Buc Rhealist-style post)

  39. NEfan Says:

Duane, the QB is in charge of getting the O in place for the next play, the clock management is dictated by the HC. That is relayed to the QB pre-play call. Obviously Bowels told Brady not to call the TO, if he didn’t why did.he defend the decision he could have easily blamed that on Brady as lack of communication which is definitely not above him after all he was trained by BA on how to throw players under the bus. Where is BA???

  40. Duane Says:

Nah. Brady is a 20 year vet and the GOAT. If he is able to pick his roster, he can call a time out if he wanted to. Bowles is a weak coach, but as I said before, there is plenty of blame to go around.

  41. beano Says:

“Brady was a perfect 218-0 when his team held at least a seven-point lead with under two minutes to play.”

That just means Tom has had good defenses that stopped the other team from scoring. Tom doesn’t play defense.

  42. Mike Johnson Says:

it’s the coaches fault yet we got a QB who can’t run 3 yrs. The day of the statue of Liberty QB is gone guys. You gotta be able to scamper when need be.

  43. NEfan Says:

Great analogy Mike, you are correct Mahomes ran for -450yds in the SB. I can think of two running QB’s in this era that won an SB? Mahomes & Wilson. He’s got 7 rings without running, that’s a pretty good sample size.

  44. NEfan Says:

Duane have you ever played football? The HC let’s everyone know when he wants a TO called. Brady has.no authority to make that call, maybe for BA certainly not Belichick but Bowels trust NO ONE therfore it was his call and HE defended it!!!

  45. Oneilbuc Says:

Conole. Brady is a Patriot and he will always be know as a Patriot more than a buc.
