No Trust In Bucs

November 28th, 2022

Columnist not buying.

If you are like Joe, you keep checking that you haven’t downed a bottle of Crown Royal when someone reminds you the Bucs (5-6) are in first place.

The Bucs offense has played the past two months a lot like the Mike Glennon-led Bucs during the commander Greg Schiano era.

Yesterday, if you closed your eyes, the number of times passes were thrown behind the chains on third down would make you swear Glennon was out on the field impersonating Tom Brady. Joe for a moment thought Mike Sullivan had taken over play-calling duties, but that might have been an insult to Sully.

That is how badly this Bucs offense — loaded with talent — has nosedived from the standard it set the past three years. And that terribly underperforming offense is why Jim Trotter of NFL.com has zero trust in the Bucs if they make the playoffs.

Trotter posted a list of the division leaders he trusts most to make noise in the playoffs. And in the category “Not At All,” Trotter includes the Bucs.

Talk to me when the Bucs climb above .500. They had a chance to do so on Sunday but blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Browns and lost in overtime, falling for the fourth time in six games. Tampa Bay entered Week 12 ranking at or near the bottom of the league in rushing, red-zone offense and big plays, something not even Tom Brady has been able to overcome with any consistency. Thank god for the NFC South.

Other than that, how was the car ride Mrs. Kennedy?

As Joe has stated, this woeful offense the Bucs have so much invested in financially and talent-wise is apparently good with Bucs shot-callers. It’s approved, accepted and condoned.

If it wasn’t, changes would have been done by now, right?

But yeah, accountability.

The sun is always shining up some frogs arse somewhere I’ve been told….

  2. ClwJB Says:

Ray Perkins called and asked why we are so aggressive on offense???

  3. Bucco-arnie Says:

Maybe Tom should ask Byron’s next-door neighbor if he could call the place

  4. BucU Says:

Todd Bowles and BL are enemy #1 and 2 for Bucs fans worldwide. I despise both of these incompetent LOSERS.

  5. DungyDance Says:

Just incredible that the unwavering, blind loyalty of two or three individuals is going totally unchecked in the face of stupendous coaching failures. These two or three people literally would rather lose than ruffle some feathers by making coaching changes. This is the making of a more than a losing season; it is the beginning of a losing culture.

  6. kent Says:

Coaching on both sides of the ball is pitiful. If Belichick was coaching they would not have more than one or two losses. Too many stupid penalties again due to poor coaching.

  7. OBVIOUS Says:

Yeah well, I WAS that frog last week! But I’m SOLD NOW! I don’t have words anymore. Just embarrassment. I don’t care what ANYBODY wants to claim concerning Tom Brady and his now “past glory and greatness”. It CERTAINLY ISN’T all on Tom but let’s STOP some from sucking Tom’s Jock and pretend that he can do no wrong! I don’t know what’s going on with the guy other than his OBVIOUS personal issues off field. But when it comes to football, he’s lost “IT”..
He could have closed out that game on the drive EASILY on the drive BEFORE the drive with 32 seconds left. You could see it all over him. He just kept throwing away the ball. Zero actual effort and infact self sabotage. He himself threw away the lead. Go back and watch with you’re own lying eyes. I just don’t get it. I’m not going to get it. I’m bummed, and tired. My feelings and beliefs going forward are disjointed and I can’t find a reason to watch without sadness. I banged the drums with many from the beginning. BEGGING Licht to take it more seriously. No Suh, No Replacement for the offensive line, NO attempt to secure a pass rush while we still had time. Rookies and second year guys with no experience. It was a fleeting feeling from the get go. After watching Tom throw it away at the end of the game yesterday, it was clear to see that “SOMETHING” has caught up to Tom. He had No Heart. And once I saw that with my own eyes. I KNEW. The chance we had to make a REAL go at it went with Tom’s heart. Because somewhere in the last 2 weeks, he’s lost it. It’s not his ability. Maybe he for some reason only he knows, he has just lost it. Reminded me of Maverick in the original Top Gun. Really. It’s as if he owes the Mafia a debt and he better pay up or else. It’s……
And DON’T get this wrong. Tom may be stuck in a very dark ace and God help him because his rep and his personal “ID” is his whole life and is at the VERY HEART of the FIRE that has made him far more than just a football player. His “ID” is lost and I gotta feeling that he “must have” personal help because his whole everything is built around it. He’s crumbling inside “for now” and he’ll sort it out in his personal life if he let’s it happen. “He has to find his happy place again. It’s lost right now”. But as I was saying, IN NO WAY IS HE THE MAIN PART OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE EVEN A HALF ASS,BHEART BROKEN BRADY IS IS BETTER THAN 90% OF THE PRODUCT OUT THERE QT QB!

The problem IS EXACTLY WHAT EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER’S KNITTING CIRCLE FRIENDS ARE SAYING! And I for one am PIZZED!!! I can’t help who I love. BUT I CAN STOP THE ABUSE! It’s as everyone says. A flopped out Shart Show at the annual Clown gathering. I kinda wish I had a pitch fork and a group of willing folks to head on over to One Buc Place with an Exorcist IN TOW to get rid of the WORST coaching hires in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers history! And By God THAT IS SAYING A LOT!!!
The ONLY thing I feel sorry for now is my personal FOOLISH optimism. Admittedly BLIND optimism, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, MY VALUABLE TIME SQUANDERED! ”

GO GET PITCHFORKS BUCS FANS! It’s TIME TO RUN THEM OUT OF TOWN AND START THE REBUILD! So, what’s our draft position again?

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

Nothing will change until the Glazers start feeling the pain in their pocket book. Remember, Dungy was fired because he wouldn’t can Mike Shula. Same scenario.

  9. SufferingSince76 Says:

DungyDance, it’s the return to a losing culture. And it didn’t take long to get back there.

  10. adam from ny Says:

if i’m the glazers, i meet with brady and ask him what he thinks they should do…

tom is almost an outsider here at this point, and an outsider perspective might just be needed right about now…

also that is probably the only way to keep tom here moving forward…

the switch from BA to whatever you want to call this has left the ship clearly rudderless…

the only hope now is to get tom to have a sit down for a late season analysis of the situation…

there were a solid handful (that’s 5 plus) of buffoon like moves and decisions yesterday, and that’s just waaaaaay too much

  11. FrontFour Says:

Joe keeps talking about all this talent. I just don’t see it. And although I agree Leftwich is horrible, Brady game plans with him and pulls the trigger on every play if he wasn’t fine with what we’re doing he’d be stomping his feet.

  12. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Where the eff is BA 🚘

  13. Defense Rules Says:

    FrontFour … Great observations.

  14. DungyDance Says:

FrontFour – see my earlier post.

  15. Cobraboy Says:

This could be the worst-coached team in Bucs history.

I am off the “Trust Bowles/Leftwich” bandwagon.

This season is lost. I don’t want to be one of those sub-.500 teams in the playoffs, when far better teams will get bounced.

This is the most disappointing season since Kiffin bounced early and the Bucs D crashed.

  16. Jeff Says:

Clown coaching and Todd Bowles is the real problem. He’s letting Bryon do what he wants. A good HC intercedes and gets this under control. Not Clueless Todd. Clueless Todd is Dungy Stubborn and Schiano Stupid.

  17. Frankie Says:

Give me motivation over talent. Any day of the week. And motivation of an entire team falls fair and square on coaching.
Given the stats Brady has and receiving yards of the rec corps it’s mind boggling this team scores so little. Overall the D does its job week in week out. The O is miserable and that’s the play calling.
And the discipline of the team is trash. All that falls on coaching. There is only one way to fix this.

  18. mg Says:

What happened to the sideline lob to the tight end?
the Patriots never replaced Gronk and the Bucs leadership failed as well.
Every good team has a darn good tight end.
The Vikings stole Hock. Idiots for not picking him up.

  19. mark2001 Says:

If pot were legal, we would all be stoned by now, and munching down on the remaining game day leftovers. But instead, we will have to poison our liver with hooch to deal with this game. Just another chapter in the “lost season”. I like that. Very fitting.

  20. Kentucky Buc Says:

Told u all year. This is Bowles ball. Making games close for no reason. It’s ego. Wanting his defense to win games. It’s that simple.

  21. Allbuccedup Says:

Bucs win the division with 8-9 record. More than likely one and done in the playoffs.

  22. alton green Says:

It’s really hard to think of the right words. BUT Joe, is Todd Bowles your brother-in-law????? Are you paranoid about offending him???? As i’ve said many times, i’ve been a 6 decade fan and a career Brady fan, it’s torture to watch the goat be reduced to and average QB solely the fault of Todd and Byran. Have y’all noticed that most posts by Joe that concerns Bowles are very redundant and repetitive, not to mention lenghthy. Guess thats where redundant comes in. I wish I could find the posts i’ve made from the very beginning about Bowles as coach. Joe did say one thing true for sure, Bowles is a “play to not lose coach” Normally the unemployment office is full of coaches like that. BUT THREE, (3) times late in the game with the GOAT???????????????????????????? Twice he could have sealed the game on 4th and short. BUT this was the dagger in the heart. Standing there like a dumb arse and letting 13 seconds go by with 2 timeouts in his pocket. Bowles should have been fired after last season. The scariest part? the more peopl criticise him, the worse he gets. WHY??? here’s a good analogy “HOW DARE YOU QUESTIONG MY ABILITY AND CHOICES. Y’all put the last pieces of the puzzle together.

  23. Frankie Says:

At this stage even the playoffs aren’t a done deal. Losses coming to 49ers and Bengals, no guarantees against the Falcons and pretty much any team given yesterday’s game so may very well be worse than 8-9 especially if Wirfs is out for some time. Brady in SF next season.

  24. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

AS I’M SURE WE ALL ARE, I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN OUR BUCCANEERS..NOT SO MUCH THE PLAYERS, BUT THE COACHING STAFF..THAT GAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN WON MUCH LIKE LAST YEARS OPENER AGAINST THE COWBOYS..THE CLOCK WAS MISMANAGED BY TODD BOWLES..HE SHOULD HAVE CALLED A TIMEOUT AFTER EACH CHUNK PLAY ON THE FINAL DRIVE OF REGULATION SO WE HAD TIME TO GET THE BALL IN RYAN SUCCUP’S RANGE, INSTEAD OF COMPLACENTLY WAITING APPARENTLY FOR OVERTIME..( HE HAD 3 TIMEOUTS TO WORK WITH & TOM BRADY PULLING THE TRIGGER (EXAMPLE: VS. THE RAMS 3 WEEKS PRIOR ! ) I BLAME THIS LOSS ON DUMBASS COACHING..PERIOD !..HE’S DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR GURU, BUT NOT A GOOD HEAD COACH..HIS FAILURE TO MANAGE THE CLOCK ON LAST DRIVE COST THE BUC’S THE VICTORY IN REGULATION..PURE & SIMPLE..HIRE SEAN PAYTON NOW BEFORE ANYONE ELSE CAN GET HIM..LISTEN TO ME GLAZERS..TODD BOWLES IS NOT BRUCE ARIANS, NOT EVEN CLOSE..DO IT NOW BEFORE THINGS GET WORSE ! ! !

  25. NEfan Says:

Front Four, the sideline passes to Evan’s were good calls, Evan’s is supposed to beat a 3rd string DB, those were on him he quit and the first one was NOT PI and the second should have been challenged but the last two were on Evan’s, he quit.

  26. Jerry Says:

The issue isn’t about talent. There is no motivation. There is no hunger or will to win. No heart or soul. Most of these guys are just showing up and going through the motions and picking up their game check. And the coaches seem to be doing the same thing.

  27. Jmarkbuc Says:

This person on Twitter got it right…

TB decided to punt to CLE from the CLE 37* on 4th & 2* with 12:41 remaining in the 4th while winning 17 to 10.

With a Surrender Index of 22.2, this punt ranks at the 98th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2022 season, and the 96th percentile of all punts since 1999.

  28. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

TO ALL BUCCANEERS FANS WHO ATTEND GAMES : PLEASE START SHOUTING “WE WANT SEAN PEYTON !” IN BETWEEN ALL PLAYS ON THE FIELD..WE WON’T WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BOWLES AS HEAD COACH, I FEEL IT IN MY GUT..HE’S A DEFENSIVE GURU & I’D LIKE SEAN TO RETAIN HIM IN THAT CAPACITY, AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE COACHING STAFF FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON..BUT “PLEASE” START SHOUTING “WE WANT “SEAN PEYTON” ! ! ! IN BETWEEN PLAYS AT RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM..THIS MAN IS A HEAD COACH WHO HAD DREW BREES & OUR NUMBER FOR YEARS!..GLAZERS, JASON LIGHT HIRE HIM WHILE WE STILL HAVE THE CHANCE, YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID ! ! !..”NUFF SAID !.

  29. BucU Says:

Bowles and Leftwurst sure have made a ton of fans here. Dumb and dumber strikes again.

  30. stpetebucfan Says:

Joe has pretty much Id’d the problem in his posts. Bottom line…Bowles a defensive minded coach, like Lovie, is playing not to lose instead of playing to win. This entire team has been infected and they’re all playing in fear of losing.

Not risking it when you have a chance to close the show in the 4th quarter is the final straw.

  31. TBfan Says:

If the situation was different…I’ll leave it at that…both would be gone.

  32. Steven L. Benner Says:

Tom Brady and the Bucs need to recruit the Coach from the Saints; Sean Peyton or even bring “Chucky” back!!! We need Coaches that know what they are doing! Todd Bowles Sucked with the JETS and Byron Leftwich Sucked as a QB! The Jaguars knew what they were doing by not making him their Head Coach!!! BA was good…just needed to give Tom some breathing room….but is a great Coach!!! Why do we always hand off the Ball on 1st down???!!! It’s so predictable! Then always come up short of a 1st and finally throw the Ball on 3rd down! Every single game it’s the same thing!!!??? I’m not a big fan anymore of Coach: “Dollar Bill Belicheck” but l guarantee you he would not have his team playing this way! Need to air the ball out more…like BA used to say; “NO risk it No Biscuit!”

  33. CUZ25580 Says:

This consistently 1st down run nonsense has got to stop I mean we have Tom Brady for quarterback for crying out loud open the game up fellas put the ball in the air Use your quarterback give him a workout let’s go
