Zero Energy

Where is the juice?

Adam Schein cannot believe what he is seeing.

The popular national radio and network TV sports personality cannot believe how bland the Bucs have become. After watching the Bucs seem to sleepwalk their way to another loss to another lousy team — this time 21-3 to Carolina which fired its coach and dumped 40 percent of its offense in a firesale — Schein thinks the Bucs are just going through the motions.

I had my doubts about Tampa entering this season, but nobody saw this coming. Sure, at 3-4, they still sit in a tie for first place in the NFC South. So what? This team has far bigger goals than winning a moribund division. At the moment, the Bucs’ point differential mirrors the amount of juice around this team: zero.

Ah, juice. Chucky always used to talk about that. Have to bring the juice.

On Sunday, it sure looked like the Bucs were a bunch of factory workers marching off to start another boring, soul-depriving day on the assembly line. Another grind where you can’t wait for the whistle to blow to end the day before you even punched the clock.

If Brady is just going through the motions — did you see his body language Sunday? — that sort of tells you all you need to know.

Too many people are leaving the juice at home.

Good take on the team, no energy zero juice. Appear to be unmotivated and just mailing it in. Thursday is going to be brutal.

  2. Delusional Intelligence Says:

    Dear Tampa Bay Buccaneers,

    Nobody owes you sh¡t.

    That is all.

  3. BucsFan81 Says:

We need to just start Trask. That might create some juice. Look at the patriots and zappe. He comes off the bench last night and team rallied around him. The Bucs need some sort of spark.

  4. merryplankster777 Says:

This season has so many ill omens, from HC resigning to QB missing parts of camp, to a once potent OL basically evaporating since end of last season.

And, while the past few (not just 2) weeks have been dishearteningly hard to watch, nothing will probably ever compare to the Last 4 weeks of 2008 ushering in a dark decade of virtual Juicelessness. End ’08 was the most epic drawn out collapse.

Lets hope for some short term refreshment soon. Brady and gang can get it flowing Evermore for Tampa! Go Bucs!

  5. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

In the first pre-season game, the Bucs missed on a pass play that has now sucked the life out of the rest of the season.

  6. DungyDance Says:

If Arians won’t put on a headset, then what IS he willing to do? This team is in full crisis mode.

  7. Leopold Stotch Says:

Replacing Brady with Trask will not do anything positive. Brady isn’t the problem. The new o line, predictable/crappy play calling and no motivation is the issue.

Which reminds me Joe, I know you asked Devin White about boredom the last week or so, maybe you could ask him again about being bored this past week against the Panthers. Maybe that boredom spread throughout the defense or even the team? The fact he still has a C on his chest baffles me after saying that… I had a whole thing about it, but it has slipped my mind. I might remember later, but that’s a garbage attitude to have is the general point.

  8. Show Me the TDs Says:

Evans dropping a sure touchdown is a clear sign of complacency. His mind was somewhere else and not focused on his job. If team leaders are doing this, pretty much, all is lost.

  9. adam from ny Says:

    buccaneer zombies for guavaween

  10. SufferingSince76 Says:

Bowles has already basically said he’s not interested in BA’s opinion. I paraphrase, of course. And isn’t changing anything. Why is this okay when he obviously doesn’t have what it takes to motivate the offense. Not that they should have to be motivated when it’s their job and you assume they want to win.

  11. Bucs go Bucs Says:

    @ BucsFan81

Look what happened to Patriots last night.
They got annihilated and created QB controversy for the rest of this season. Probably broke Mac Jones in so doing.
Too much risk for momentary spark, don’t you think?!?
It is all gloom & doom up there in Boston media, too.

  12. Defense Rules Says:

Buccaneer zombies is a fair description Adam.

  13. Hodad Says:

Be an interesting off season for sure. Total house cleaning will be in order. No way Brady comes back to the Bucs, think he’ll head to the booth. We surely won’t be contenders so the I want a free ring guys like Julio, and Hicks won’t be coming around, and that’s a good thing. Time to keep the guys with heart, and brains. I’d trade White, he has neither, amoung others, and wouldn’t resign older guys like David. Thanks for your service. It’s time for change folks.

  14. ChiBuc Says:

Brady’s 8 months of drama squeezed the team dry…. well that and an lethargic HC, uncreative OC, and dimwitted ST coach mixed in with an arrogant GM and you can see the results.

  15. Cobraboy Says:

    No heart.

    No head.

    No leadership.

I’m looking at the 2023 draft already and trying to figure out what $$$ to cut. I’m ready for a full cap reckoning in 2023 to build a new future.

The cap can the team has kicked is here. There is no more road to kick it down.

  16. HC Grover Says:

Is Payton an option? Do the rules allow us to fire the Bums and hire him during the season? If the calamity continues Thursday it is time for the owners to step in.

  17. beano Says:

“Bucs go Bucs Says: Look what happened to Patriots last night.
They got annihilated and created QB controversy.”

The quarterback controversy was created by Mac Jones himself, who has sucked all season. 2 TDs and 6 INTs.

  18. beano Says:

I said it when we started losing players in the offseason. This should have been a developmental year. But everyone was still hung over from the 2020 avocado tequila and nobody listened. It’s time to listen now. Brady and Gabbert will be nowhere near Tampa next season. Play Trask and see what we have.

  19. Razor Ramone Says:

Whatever happened to Shaq Barrett? Brady is not the problem .

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our D line was really soft……we throw way too many passes behind the line to gain…..
Tom is playing way too conservatively…..

This is all on the coaching staff…..

  21. Davenport Says:

    WHERE BRADY RANKS

    Completions: 198 — 3rd
    Percentage: 67% — 7th
    Yards/Game: 277 — 6th
    Touchdowns: 8 — 16th
    Interceptions: 1 — 32nd

He is not the problem. And the time off in the summer, do you really think that this caused the entire team of HIGHLY PAID PROFESSIONALS to fall apart? Really?

If anything, since the ridiculous coaching decision to end the Rams playoff game, i think he’s looking at this coaching stafff and its ripping out his soul.

  22. Bucobill99 Says:

Oline and dline are worst parts of this team

  23. MadMax Says:

    Tank, tank, tank….. Bo Nix

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

Shaq got paid now sucks. Vea got paid now sucks. Godwin, Davis, Lenny etc… D white so dumb he laid down before he got paid. Dean, Winfield playing great for the most part . Neither have gotten a big contract yet. Coincidence?????

  25. Kentucky Buc Says:

@Beano. I actually agree with you. BB should’ve stayed with Zappe. Never liked Jones.

  26. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Our Players are just not responding to our current coaches.

  27. teacherman777 Says:

    Jordan Whitehead played on fire.

    JPP played on fire.

    Suh was immovable.

Jensen was/is the most gangster white boy in the history of the NFL.

Gronk blocked hard on every snap.

Marpet protected Tommy with his life.

JPP is a God. We should have brought him back as I said. I said let him heal and rest until week 6.

Suh is much more reliable than Hicks.

Jordan Whitehead costed less than Rudolph!

We lost our locker room room when Licht let our heroes go.

JPP and Suh were leaders. Whitehead played with heart.

Licht destroyed our Locker room. And the players can see that Darden has been gifted a job because of Licht. (As Licht gifted Benenoch a job he didn’t deserve)

MJ Stewart is still starting in the NFL. He should have been converted to MLB as I suggested. He would have made a great dime package DB/LB.

White should not be on the field on passing downs. MJ Stewart or Jordan Whitehead would make great dime package safeties/linebackers.

  28. Billy Says:

As a lifelong long resident of Largo I have been a Bucs fan since Tampa was awarded a football team. I was 8 years old when my old man took me to our first game in 76 and have been a loyal fan through all the HORRIBLE years.
I (a lot of us) have seen the years of no motivation in players and the team in general and the scoreboard and seasonal records have shown to results from it. This is EXACTLY what we are seeing again this year.
I didn’t think it was possible with Tom Brady as our QB, but that is exactly what we are seeing.
Brady is obviously regretting his unretirement and it is showing.
It would not surprise me in the least to see Brady get “injured” in the next few weeks and ride out his final season.
I hate to say that, but you can see it in his eyes he is regretting he decision.

  29. Anthony Says:

Still a fan but I agree no energy no sense of urgency. And Bradys body language has been bad all season. Plus I’m tired of all his yelling at everyone not good and is getting old real quick. His personal issues are a big issue

  30. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

You lead by example, not by yelling at people. Brady attended a wedding when he should have been with the team practicing. That was wrong, and then to turn around and yell at his teammates, after what he did, is not good.

  31. D-Rok Says:

Confucious say one must have a cup to hold water. Likewise, this team needs an identity before they invest any energy.

How many of us would get excited to start a job that we don’t know our job duties? “OK, sure I know how to mop floors. Yes, I am excited to mop to the best of my ability because I know I can succeed and be good at it.”

This team is leaderless so far this year. Whether they find it or not will determine team success, or failure, when we look back upon this year.

  32. Bucanero Says:

Bring back da’Juice. Trade with the Texans today

  33. Buc1987 Says:

Listless team and Brady lost the eye of the tiger.

  34. Winky Says:

Brady shows passion: He’s losing it. Turning off teammates.

Brady shows restraint: He’s just going through the motions.

People and their projections / realities…

  35. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

To answer the critic who said TB is playing to conservatively must remember TB is running the plays sorry ass Lefty is calling. TB would be better off calling his own plays

  36. DEEEMO Says:

I SAY BRING BACK THE CREAMSICLE UNIFORMS…CAUSE THEY ARE SURE PLAYING LIKE THOSE AWFUL TEAMS!
