Tom Brady Still Looks Fantastic

October 2nd, 2022

“We’ll get there, Mike.”

If there is such a thing as good news after a kick-in-the-balls loss to the Chiefs at The Licht House, it’s that Tom Brady looks fantastic.

The mobility was there, as was the arm talent. Brady revived the offense with a three-touchdown night while completing 39-of-52 passes for 385 yards.

He was only hit five times — damn good for that many dropbacks — and the return of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin got the dormant passing game back in gear in a hurry.

The Bucs will not win a Super Bowl if Brady falls off physically, and it looks like that will not happen through four games against A-list competition. It’s a reality that should let Bucs fans get a little sleep tonight.

Yeah, the offense remains messy. Everything looked easy for the Chiefs and the Bucs didn’t look nearly as smooth. But there are a ton of good signs.

It’s obvious that when Godwin, Evans, Julio Jones and Russell Gage are available, the Bucs become a crazy dangerous bunch.

Joe’s not pretending the Bucs looked good tonight in a key game before a jacked up home crowd, but Joe is focused on the big picture. Brady looked like a quarterback who can still get it done on the ultimate stage, and it felt damn good to see that be so obvious.

Defense couldn’t get off the field. I blame practicing in Miami. Free pass. Sorry if you don’t like it, it’s reality. Come back better next week.

  2. Natron Says:

Just win the NFC South and advance from there

Terrible game by the defense, obviously. Tbh, we made a few bad personnel moves in the offseason that I think are hurting us bad…. Getting rid of Rojo, Suh, JPP, & Tyler Johnson is killing us as of right now I think. Add Gronk to the mix if players list and boom, we leveled down this year it looks like.

  4. Coburn Says:

Despite them not puntimg until near end of game the difference was the two turnovers really. The game our offense looks good our defense goes missing.. too much of buying into their own hype. Same thing happened when we faced them in regular season two years ago

    *of players *lost

  6. Winny Testaverde Says:

Yes he does. Now put it all together and take it out on the FoulCones…for first place in the NFC South.

Where were the halftime adjustments on D. ?

We have a track record of coming out and looking better in the 2nd half against these guys, but no answers tonight on D.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

Special Teams, joke. Pass rush, joke. Coverage, a funnier joke.

    Coaching, pathetic.

    Worst Buc performance. Uninspired. Pathetic.

  9. Pewter Power Says:

Brady needs Jensen and gronk badly, gage is stealing and the our trench players suck this year.

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs got the next 3 games against cupcake opponents to get into tip top shape before having to face the Ravens and Rams, which will be very very difficult games.

Just need to take care of business the next 3 weeks, and let Brady get into a rhythm and we’ll be fine.

Well, so long as the WR’s are healthy.

  11. LakelandSteve Says:

Big game, a National television audience and our defense comes out and plays like that. Yes Brady looked good, but how disheartening to see the defense get completely mauled.

  12. firethecannons Says:

Chiefs looked really sharp and our run defense got gashed over and over yikes

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Agreed Brady looked good as always. But im not gonna pretend its not an issue that this offense consistently comes out dry. Its a repeated pattern that we need to go down by 3 scores til our offense shows any life.

Playing from behind and hoping for perfection and a thrilling comeback win is really getting to annoy me. I dont see us winning no SBs if we continue this trend against tough teams.

  14. Goatfarmer Says:

Right now, this team shouldn’t be expected to beat the Falcons. They think they can beat us. Now we’ve proven the only thing they can do, run the ball, is something we can’t stop. What an embarrassment. A joke. A very bad joke. You can’t be this soft and somehow expect different results.

Todd – your defense sucks. Your offense can’t run. Your play caller lacks imagination (see the opponent’s scheme). He lacks many other things.

    What an atrocity.

  15. HC Grover Says:

Whats a GOAT to do when the coaches call up the gut for the 1st qtr and take the ball out of his hand? This is simply stupid game planning by Blunder Bowles.

  16. Tvan101 Says:

Vea, White and Bowles looked awful.

  17. BucsFan81 Says:

The offense finally shows up and the defense goes full Turtle. At some point both the offense and defense have to play good at the same time.

  18. PassingThru Says:

The offense still needs contributions from WRs not named Evans, a starting TE, and most of all, better pass protection. Brady was taking snaps in the shotgun, then frequently drops back before launching rather short passes. That’s crazy, that’s the sort of pass plays that you use with a three step drop.

  19. JimmyJack Says:

HC they didnt call up the gut. And maybe now we know why they do run up the gut. Off left tackle went for minus 4 yards and killed a prosiming drive, off right went minus 2 and killed another.

  20. HC Grover Says:

Some fans are starting to understand the Bowles Prevent Game planning.

  21. Tackleblockwin Says:

Gotta get better in a lot of areas. Run defense is terrible so far. Fix that first. I saw our new FA DT getting pushed around all night.

  22. DoooshLaRue Says:

Yeah, letting ROJO walk is one of the things hurting us right now…… gimme a break.
JPP is done. I watched him today, I love the guy but he has reached the end.

Did I hear cupcake opponents for the next 3 weeks?
We’ll be lucky to be 4-3 by that time.

  23. OrlandoBucsFan Says:

The turnovers hurt, no doubt, but the defense played horribly, particularly on third down. Couple that with a misfiring offense, the loss was inevitable. Nonetheless, I was happy to see the offense get some life and good to see the team fighting to the end. We’ll get better. Better to take our lumps early on the season. Evans is a BEAST!!!!

  24. ForReal Says:

    Goatfarmer… dead on!

  25. ForReal Says:

You will get a great game out of Brady 98 times out of 100 if you coach the rest of the team to do their JOB! He is never going to play like an old man. His coaches coach like a bunch of scared old ladies though

  26. Bucsfan13 Says:

I think Brady’s shoulder is more injured than he’s letting on. I know some of it was garbage points, but he still looked good. He completed over 70% of his passes for the second straight game. The fumble is as bad, but I thought it was impressive that he didn’t throw a pick. When you’re in obvious passing situations, it’s easy to do. We were once again behind the chains too often.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady does look great……we should always play like we are 14 points behind.

Brady hit 10 different receivers tonight…..3 rookies caught passes…..

Something is dreadfully wrong with our run defense……especially the front 3……their RB were dragging our defenders for 5yards after the hit.

  28. ForReal Says:

Yes Bowles is preventing the team from winning… Bring BA back down to coach the offense and send BL to be ball boy… or whatever

  29. ForReal Says:

Ray of hope… Brady took the 2011 Pats to the Super Bowl with one of the 3 worst defenses in football. But… they lost so there’s that…

  30. ClwJB Says:

We laid an egg big time but can get 4 to 5 wins out of the next 6

Next 3 are winnable then Ravens, Rams and Germany trip before the bye

7-4 at the bye sounds very familiar…

  31. Kody Says:

YES, Brady is Brady, even with an OL that can’t protect him more than a few seconds.

But, let’s be honest, Mahomes (who I don’t like) was amazeballs this game. It was his game. He and Kelce were the bigtime MVPs.

  32. Yucs2Bucs Says:

At least JPP and Suh were leaders and now we have a bunch of out of shape followers and I think White should take the C and give it away because I thought I would see a different team tonight and saw the same effortless Bucs from the first half from last week. This defense needs men and not a bunch of soft azz my pillows. How patient can we be especially when the Falcons come in and really humble this team !! What I saw tonight was pathetic !!! This team better find its ballz or it’s going to be a loooong and short season for this over hyped thing and very hard to call this a team right now and yes it’s game 4, but how are they not pissed and ready to explode after last year

  33. Goatfarmer Says:

BL would bring hockey pucks instead of footballs. Maybe——ah forget it. Tom – time for a pivotal moment . Now . You know what’s wrong. Tell them the truth and hold them accountable. Demand the change required and see it through. If that means BA becomes more active with Todd so be it.

Garddammitt that was Mike Smithian. Even Lovie’s defense would have played better.

Ray of hope… Brady took the 2011 Pats to the Super Bowl with one of the 3 worst defenses in football. But… they lost so there’s that…

    ——–

Calm down you drama queens, the Bucs LITERALLY had the best defense in the NFL going into this game. This was Chiefs Super Bowl, this is all they’ve thought about since getting beaten a lot worse in the SB than the Bucs got beat tonight.

    Have some perspective people.

  35. Kody Says:

My favorite play was the Brady-to-Ko connection near the end zone. That’s the only memory I want to take away from this game.

Hope Ko and Cade get a lot more involved in the passing game. Both CAN catch and are big bruising guys who aren’t gonna get pushed off their routes.

  36. Yucs2Bucs Says:

This group especially the D needs to look
    into testosterone replacement

  37. JimmyJack Says:

Ok boys i gots to git. Final thought……Ive just seen the highlight of Mahommes throwing some kind of loop pass TD and all i see is White. I cant stomach a danged LB wiffing on this play. This is a guy who can make great plays but I just cant look at this display and say thats a good LB.

  38. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Ko Kieft had a great catch.

  39. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Cade Otten does absolutely nothing

  40. DrunkinYbor Says:

I still feel this team will be great. The yo-yo the yin-yang the peace and war will balance out. We will average 27 a game giving up 20 and be a beast going into the playoffs. Our division is ours for the taking. Who here is actually scared of the Falcons? Last game Human nature. That was the Chiefs redemption game. They were way way way more passionate every 1st down looked like they won a superbowl. Let’s just move on.
