“I Will Not Consider Changing Coaching”

October 23rd, 2022

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles may have painted himself into a corner.

In his remarks right after the game to the local pen and mic club in Charlotte, Bowles declared no coaching changes are forthcoming.

“I will not consider changing coaching,” Bowles said. But Bowles did say to expect his coaches to be changing things.

With a statement like that Bowles may have pinned his future to guys (or one guy) who very easily could be sacrificed because of the dismal results, he is getting from his star-laden offensive players.

Joe is now convinced if something drastic is not changed on offense, the Bucs will be watching the playoffs.

Name a team in the NFL that is playing worse on offense than the Bucs.

“It is about as dark as it is going to be right now,” Bowles added.

  1. Jack Sparrow Says:

Yeah because he has no idea what his coaching team are doing.

  2. Couch Fan Says:

And just as stubborn as Lovie to. This is not going to end well.

  3. SB~LV Says:

Gotta say something… doesn’t seem to matter what he says…. It is perfectly clear, perfectly clear!

  4. GABucsFan Says:

Name a team that is playing worse overall, not just offense.

  5. Fojo Says:

Bring back Bruce. hold people accountable

  6. Simeon97 Says:

A lot of jets fans I know warned me of this mediocrity.

  7. HC Grover Says:

I would fire this moron right now.

  8. Sampson Says:

I’m not wasting my time watching this team on my very limited personal te if they don’t change things drastically. If this continues I expect axes to drop.

  9. Curse of Gruden Says:

Just what I’d expect from Lovie 2.0.
    Clueless maroon.

  10. mark2001 Says:

Why should he change coaches? He is the biggest problem? You think changing a coordinator would change the way these guys play?

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Worst Coach in Bucs History!

How can you fail this bad with THIS much talent?

  12. Jerry Says:

The team has already checked out. You can see it in the body language.

  13. Knucknbuc Says:

We’ll that’s the end of that. Shows stubbornness same as lovie. Bowels will be fired soon enough. I know circling the drain when I see it

  14. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Mark2001

So you like running 20 screen plays a game? A change in coordinator would absolutely help this team

  15. Rod Munch Says:

The Jags are to blame for this year.

If they had just hired Leftwich, he wouldn’t be here right now. Of course the Jags would be winless and have the worst offense in football, but that wouldn’t be our problem.

  16. Yucs2Bucs Says:

I said after you posted the poll “I hope I’m wrong, but watched the Bucs get beat and this site will go nuts !!” Bill knew Brady was a PIA and got rid of him and during Covid year they miraculously win the Super Bowl ( NFL is fixed ) and PLEASE retire Brady and trade the high priced players ASAP !!!!

  17. HC Grover Says:

Bowles thinks losing to the Ravens will be better than losing to the Carolina Scrubs. This is woke. He is woke. The whole staff is woke.

  18. T REX Says:

    BOWELS is total garbage

    Awful head coach.

  19. Rmbuc813 Says:

Sounds like lovie in his press conferences. Dark now but darker days ahead…. Hope not but that’s what this team has demonstrated

  20. Bucanero Says:

No accountability, no adjustment despite of results. I’m disappointed. We need a new head coach. As he said, the time for talking is over. Actions are required

  21. Chuckstutz Says:

Zero emotion. I would love to see him throw something!

Damn man. Hell of a motivator ! Can we see some fire. !!!

  22. mark2001 Says:

Tbbucs. No. It wouldn’t help much. This team has checked out on Bowles. Can’t you see it? Brady can change out any play he chooses, just like he always has. Didn’t you know that?

  23. Chris Says:

Bowles needs to be Fired tonight

  24. BucsBro Says:

    We’re toast.

Brady is gone at the end of the year, unless a change is made.

Glad we got a ring out of it, but it’s over.

Unless Bowles and/or Byron go, no way Brady sticks around. And no way the team competes for anything meaningful.

  25. Patrick in VA Says:

You’ve got BA in the building. Slide him in as OC and make Leftwich a parking lot monitor.

  26. BucsBro Says:

Arians did a good job, but unfortunately he left us with Bowles and Byron. And it’s doubtful the Glazers will think they need to fire them.

    That’s a wrap, fellas.

  27. Natron Says:

I’m sure Todd will get them “Baltimore Ready” LOL!

  28. mark2001 Says:

Rod… it is bigger than Lefty. This team is regressing. Both offensively and defensively. The players are playing uninspired. It rests on Bowles shoulders.

  29. Miller5252 Says:

If TB or BL gets fired what happens to Arians. Since this was his hand pick successors will Arians be let go too? Maybe after they put him in the ring of honor they’ll fire the whole group?? Could get weird

  30. Adrnagy Says:

Give the playcalling to Harold. And Bowles to Foote.

  31. SKBucsFan Says:

I believe BA will be back before too long. Most billionaires are proud people. They are as embarrassed as anyone. Locht will be called today and asked to explain himself.

  32. #99 Says:

Yucs2bucs, that was the dumbest thing you ever said!

  33. Rod Munch Says:

Bowles was forced to take Leftwich as part of getting the Bucs HC job. We have no idea if he actually wanted him or not.

Bowles should have face, fire Leftwich, say he never wanted him, would have hired his sister of Leftwich.

  34. nick Says:

Anyone who knows or remembers me, i was THE OPTIMIST on here long long ago in the beginnings of joeBucsfan… ive been a Bucs fan since 1979, so when i say i know the bucs, its not BS. This team is lost. Bucs teams reflect their coach. Under Raheem, the bucs were a wild bunch of ‘youngry’ players who needed more talent, and veteran leadership. its not going to take the glazers long to see Bowles is a D coordinator. hes not a head coach. i dont blame the glazers for making that choice, im sure Arians insisted on it. but this team has no guts. Carolina… they have guts. Atlanta, has guts. This team is lifeless, and right now, im not sure the Bucs win 7 games. There is life on defense, but on offense, there seems to be NO LIFE. The drop by Evans reminded me of hopeless 2006 bucs who were being shut out by pittsburgh when Clayton dropped a sure TD pass. Coach Gruden kicked a fg down 20-0 on 4th down with a few seconds left. up until today, THAT was the most embarrassed id ever been to be a bucs fan. and i rooted for this team through Leeman bennett, perkins, Wyche and more. Blow it up now so we can get a QB next year

  35. BucsBro Says:

Any chance of Byron getting a head coaching job is gone.

  36. Francisco Guzman Says:

    The glazers won’t fire Bowles.

  37. mark2001 Says:

BA won’t be back. Bowles will play this year out, and we will go from there. I just hope we are sellers and not buyers by the deadline. We need good draft picks, and not be a division winner, limping into the playoffs, with a playoff position draft pick in every round. And who knows… maybe trading a star or two might get someone to wake up.

  38. SKBucsFan Says:

I agree Rod. I was hoping both Leftwich and Bowles would have been hired away this past spring. The two 3rd rounders in return would have been welcomed. Now they have been exposed. They are worthless to us going forward.

  39. Bucanero Says:

Make Tom Brady Throw Tuddies Again

  40. Rod Munch Says:

Arians is not coming back as head coach, although I wouldn’t doubt he ends up in the booth and is ‘helping’ with calling the plays in the very near future.

But Arians wanted to make Leftwich an NFL head coach, and he nearly suckered another team into taking him on. Supposively the Jags offered Leftwich the job, and Leftwich is such an idiot he turned it down because the Jags wouldn’t give him his hand picked GM. I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s the rumor. But if Leftwich was so stupid that he turned down a HC job, it means he actually thinks he’s good at his job, and not just a con. If true, it’s a remarkable lack of self awareness.

  41. IE Buc Says:

I just gave up on Bowles. When he is too stubborn to let heads roll, he is the problem. Where is the anger for offensive ineptitude? Anger that the offense is causing the season to be lost. If he is content with 3 points today and under 20 points for the rest of the season, he needs to go.

  42. Davenport Says:

    Bye Todd.

  43. Francisco Guzman Says:

Idk how anyone thought Bowles was a good choice. He’s not a head coach in the nfl. There’s certain people who are not head coaches.

  44. ModHairKen Says:

He’s Trump. Bowles is Trump. “I will not consider changing coaching.”

Licht: “Todd, we have to let you go.”

Todd: “I will not consider changing coaching.”

Licht: “Right. But, uhhh. We decided to let you go. You’re fired.”

    Todd: “No you aren’t.”

  45. Yucs2Bucs Says:

#99 you don’t think Brady brings drama 😂 Love the effort by the boys and when a locker room is separated good luck .. !!!! Yucs are back

  46. Couch Fan Says:

Nope the play call in the playoffs should of been a warning not to hire the guy. Competent coaches dont make those kinds of mistakes.

  47. Davenport Says:

    Ravens (loss)

    – TRADE DEADLINE –

    Rams (loss)

    Seahawks (loss)

3 & 7 and the firing of Bowles, Leftwich, Arians because, out of loyalty, he won’t go along with the changes.

    – BYE –

  48. Francisco Guzman Says:

Short week as well. Ravens are gonna make this team look silly on TNF.

  49. beano Says:

Remember these are the same genius coaches who put Goobert at #2. Either they’re morons (Goobert has a long record of sucking – Trask doesn’t) or they’re just caving to Brady who wants a vet on the sideline.

  50. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Hate to say this, but the guys at my local sports bar predicted this, when Bowles was named Head Coach.
They said “Insanity is repeating the same mistake, expecting a different result”.
Todd Bowles was a terrible head coach in New York, and is repeating himself here in Tampa.
I don’t know what we can do to fix this, in the middle of the season.

  51. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Mark101

There’s a reason Brady is not a coach…..huge difference between player and coach

  52. SufferingSince76 Says:

Why change coaching? Everything is working out great, so far. Right, Todd?

  53. Redeemer Says:

Nobody is being held accountable. BA was know as a players coach, but he wasn’t afraid to ruffle feathers. When a 1-5 team punches you in the mouth, and you don’t respond? BA would’ve chewed asses at halftime. I was never a big BA guy. I was wrong. For this team, he was the perfect coach. Bowles isn’t HC material

  54. D Says:

This was the same thing that Dirk Koetter said and look what happened to him. Yikes! Bye bye Bowels

  55. Francisco Guzman Says:

The offense hasn’t been the only disappointing part of this team. The D-line has been garbage.

  56. Tbbucs3 Says:

“Brady can check out of any play he wants”

Mark101, interesting for you see to say this with 0 evidence, do you have a copy of the Bucs playbook?

  57. D Says:

These coaches are unwavering in their loyalty to each other, often to their own detriment and demise. I thought it was humorous how Vilma kept praising the OC of the Panthers for the offense playing so well but conversely wouldn’t blame the Bucs coaching what so ever. Talk about a double standard…

  58. G Money Says:

I did not see the game today. I just followed the updates. Based on what I am seeing in the comments and HC’s demeanor in the interview, this team has probably checked out. It’s time to cut bait and plan for 2025. I bet there will be players slowly cleaning out their lockers after today…

  59. Kgh4life Says:

    The coaches are the problem.

  60. George Says:

Licht is too blame for not providing offensive line

  61. TDogg27 Says:

To stand by your coaches (hello Byron Leftwich) after seeing this level of ineptitude is plain buffoonery. I say if Todd is willing to fall on the sword for Leftwich’s BS playcalling, then he deserves to be standing in the unemployment line with his buds.
I would also listen to trade offers for Brady and others for draft position. This season is going nowhere

“Brady can check out of any play he wants”

Mark101, interesting for you see to say this with 0 evidence, do you have a copy of the Bucs playbook?

    ——–

He actually probably can check out of plays. But Leftwich still controls the personnel and we saw that today. On the drive where the Bucs got down to the Panthers 15, Brady went no huddle, moved the ball right down the field, then Leftwich slowed everything down, pulled everyone off the field, and killed the drive, with the last two plays being obvious runs on 3rd and short and 4th and short. On those plays, you can only audible to some other terrible play because of the personnel on the field.

  63. Brent Says:

I get it, I’m pissed as everyone else…but this is not the end of the road here let’s get healthy and back to mostly first string players 10 games left to play in regular season get to the playoffs and go from there, I do feel they need BA on the sideline and overseeing the coaches calls.

  64. EEK Says:

He may not make it through the season

Coaching change may not be up to him

Putrid all around 2 full weeks in a row – really 3

    That’s pretty grim

  65. T REX Says:

    Can he fire himself?

  66. HawaiianBuc Says:

    #Bowlesout

  67. stpetebucfan Says:

“Name a team in the NFL that is playing worse on offense than the Bucs.”

I have a candidate!!! And this team like the Bucs has a great QB…the Pack looks just like the Bucs…still trying to get in synch. Not worse perhaps but equally as bad.

  68. Deeez NATZ Says:

TOM BRADY GOT VACCINATED, nuff said

  69. Avejoe85 Says:

I hope team Glazer steps in and forces him to either make a change or pack his bags.

  70. jim Says:

Screw you HC Grover. You don’t even know the meaning of “woke”!

  71. Chrisonthecape Says:

But we are diverse, so in fact we are winners. Haha

  72. T REX Says:

JOE, PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THE KLAN FANS OFF YOUR SITE

    THANKS

  73. RuKa_44 Says:

Todd Bowles last week: “This is my team, not Bruce’s team!”

Bucs fans: “WE KNOW, TODD, WE KNOW!!!…”

  74. Francisco Guzman Says:

Even the bengals coaching staff can outcoached this staff. Joke. They took it to the falcons.

  75. Stormy Says:

The Glazers should consider changing out this turd now. Why wait?

If this is how the rest of the year goes, there’s absolutely no way you can go into next year with these clowns in charge.

Some blame goes to BA and his jobs program for incompetent coaches.

  76. dbbuc711 Says:

To be the worst you gotta lose to the worst

  77. 2022 return of the goat Says:

    Glazer’s plzzzz Wake the F@#$Ck up…

  78. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Triggered again. Bingo.

  79. BigZ Says:

Just about everything is standards. He just showed us his standards
Now it’s up to the gm,but he’s in on it.
So now the glazers. I doubt it though. History says so.

  80. Where's Giselle Says:

Maybe Tom can fake an injury and go on IR so he can be spared the rest of this embarrassment and potential injury with this OL. Then if he wants to play next year. Then he can play here next year if they get Sean Payton or go to San Francisco where they seem to want to win.

  81. Francisco Guzman Says:

Bowles always has that same befuddling look. Lol.

  82. Nprbuc Says:

I will not change coaches- said the mannequin with an unused headset.

  83. tampabayallday Says:

We’re tanking yall! Trade TB12 he deserves better

  84. HC Grover Says:

Glaziers have to change coaching or write off season. This would not be fair to the fans. A total clean out of staff tonight. A new staff would have 3 weeks to get going because with this staff we will lose them anyway.

  85. Izod Says:

I hear a lot of people complain the OL is the problem, but we are losing–and losing BADLY–to teams with worse OL and lower caliber personnel across the board.

Coaching and personnel are two key ingredients that depend on each other. It’s like fitness, you can spend hours at the gym but eat garbage all day long and your results will be very subpar.

  86. adam from ny Says:

    dude represents rock bottom

  87. HC Grover Says:

Jim woke is when you make some staff decisions based on diversity and equity. Am I wrong? Losing is not as important as appearance and virtue? Ahh dunno? NFL awards credits for wokeness too I think that was an issue in the offseason if I recall on draft picks and such. Like if we hire someone we get a pick or something

  88. AbucAway Says:

It wasn’t just the offense. The Defense gave up three touchdowns to a team with the (then) worst offense in the NFL. And this was before Carolina traded away two of their best players and with a 3rd or 4th string quarterback. Look at that qb’s numbers with the players they have.
Change has to happen somewhere. If Bowles doesn’t see his assistants as problems then he needs to be able to define exactly what the problem is and fix it. It’s on him.

  89. Darin Says:

They’re taking on the identity of the hc. They were confident and almost cocky under Bruce. Now they’re stoic and have no answers. The coaches are putting them into position to fail. Pj walker 11 completions in a row because bowles wants to play back and let him pick them apart. No more to say about Leftwich other than c’mon Bucs let anyone else call the plays. I do mean anyone cause it can’t get worse. Imagine if Brady had Leftwich as his oc his first couple years in the league. He’d have retired at 25 with no super bowl appearances or wins and we wouldn’t know his name

  90. Pewter Power Says:

No way the Glazers make any coaching changes in a middle of a season with the greatest quarterback in nfl history under center. I he only choice I’d be ok with is bringing BA back this year and he would never do that to Bowles or leftwich

  91. Conte Piscatelli Says:

We just got embarrassed two weeks in a row by 1 win teams. The team plays without leadership, desire or any semblance of discipline. We should fire Bowles and Leftwich today. It’s unfortunate that we won 3 games already because we need a new QB with the way Brady is playing. Maybe he is as upset with the play calling as we are, and has given up on the coaches too.

  92. Roc Says:

    Bowles , Raheem , Lovie

    All three were HORRIBLE COACHES

THEY ALL had soft teams were not prepared for games AND were “PLAYERS” Coaches

Can’t Be a Friend and Lead

  93. MadMax Says:

    You wont have to dummy….
Where you at mr. Licht? You wanna join him?

  94. PassingThru Says:

So Bowles just admitted that “the Bucs are in a dark place” and yet he won’t change a thing.

What a fool. New York Jets South

  95. MadMax Says:

Rebuild mode has come a lot sooner than i thought…..oh well, warm yourselves beside the dumpster fire friends….all good

  96. Listnfrmafar Says:

Of this guy don’t believe in there coaches it will reflect their play. How are they playing? I know the O was bad but Carolina’s O wasn’t even a O. NO QB, NO PRO BOWL RB, NO #1 WR, WTF, I saw David in quite a few plays but Shaq, Vea and White, the invisible men. Tell Nunez, it’s hard to crawl while on your back. If anyone thinks if these coaches stay.this will get fixed, $100 bet,I’ll give you 10 to 1 odds.

  97. Listnfrmafar Says:

Speaking of invisible men, where is loud mouth BA now. Crickets!!!

  98. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Watching KC v. SF….CEH just had a 16 yard TD run and that play design tells you EVERYTHING about what a real NFL coaching staff does to accentuate their players strengths.

  99. Your Mom Says:

Some of us remember just how much the Glazers tolerated that when Dungy said as much…

  100. mark2001 Says:

Your Mom. I remember. Good history lesson. Tony I felt kind of badly for, because he didn’t get the OC he originally wanted, and as a short timer the last couple years, getting a first line guy wasn’t going to happen. But Bowles will never get another HC job is this one continues in the current direction. To say he won’t change at this point is kind of career chloroforming.

  101. mark2001 Says:

The light in the Licht house is looking pretty dim right now, Joe.

  102. Frank Pillow Says:

You can’t expect accountability when we promoted the guy whose boneheaded all out blitz call torpedoed a fantastic comeback effort against the Rams. Todd should’ve been run that Monday…not prompted to HC.

  103. Displaced Floridian Says:

I don’t want to here another excuse, you will in fact not be getting it together Brady, Bowles, Leftwich,Lifcht. This is who they are. Will be finding something actually worthwhile to do with the three hours on Sundays when the Bucs are playing.

  104. JimmyfromNY Says:

To the trolls, nothings going to take away the past 22 years of misery Tom Brady has caused you. All those sleepless nights all those delicious tears you have let go down your face it’s been great. To the people think Brady is actually an issue on this team you’re absolutely clueless. He’s number 15 on the list of 15 problems. Horrific coaching horrific of line and offensive coordinator they can’t scheme a guy open . How about receivers that can’t break a tackle to save their lives, the drop ball after ball and can’t finish a route to save there lives. I can’t wait for him to leave!!

  105. Ken Says:

    Serious question…..

Can we even take this team seriously if Leftwich isnt fired on Monday?

Whats the downside to firing Leftwich? The offense if averaging 1 TD per game this year. Its inexcusable.

Allowing Leftwich to keep his job is giving up on the season.

The Bucs are in win-now mode. This isnt a dynasty. Brady is gone next year and were likely a 6-11 football team for the next 5 years (best case).

  106. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Hey DummyfromNY,

Brady has only played the Bucs 4 times so actually Bucs fans could care less about Brady’s Pats career….

Way too many of y’all are still looking at Tom Brady through the past….the is not about the past…this is about the 2022 season ….and the 2022 version of Tom Brady looks like a washed up Matt Ryan.

Some of y’all just have to face the fact that Tom Brady is not the same player he used to be…..

  107. Bucamania Says:

I bet the Glazers are considering it.

They know what bad coaching looks like – and this is it.

  108. TJ Says:

Everybody CHILL OUT. 9-8 wins our division and we get into the tournament. I’m okay with 9-8 and a trip to the SB. YES, Leftwich and Bowles coaching stock have dropped almost as far as my 401K the last 18 months. But we can’t fire the Commander in Chief mid season. Just have to wait for his contract to expire.

  109. captivajim Says:

Bowles, leftwich & Licht will all circle their wagons -unless Glazers get involved.

  110. ClwJB Says:

It’s not even close to dark yet fool- wait until we get blown out 3 more weeks in a row

You and all your tool assistants will be back coaching in college and high school

    What a joke

Richard Williamson called and said you suck!!!

  111. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

Fire Bowles & Lefty 7 let BA the interim HC & Clyde the interim OC.

  112. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

7 should have been &. Maybe let Bowles go back to DC or elevate one of the other defensive coaches.
