Gerald McCoy Pleads For Mike Evans To Get The Ball

October 17th, 2022

Former Bucs DT Gerald McCoy, the six-time Pro Bowler.

Like most sane Bucs fans, former Tampa Bay defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is in stunned disbelief because the Bucs threw so little to Mike Evans yesterday as the Steelers shocked the world and beat them by two points.

The Bucs threw to Evans five times — the fifth “target” was wiped out by a defensive holding penalty — and all four passes that counted were caught by Evans. But that was nowhere near enough considering the Steelers were missing most starters in their defensive backfield.

Joe was as mortified as the next fan, including McCoy, who put the caps lock on to scream on Twittter.

“BUCS PLEASE FOR THE LIFE [OF] ME MICHAEL LYNN EVANS III ……… THROW HIM THE BALL!!!” Joe embedded the full Tweet below.

What made the situation more painful is the reality that Evans is healthy and having a strong season, coming off a beastly game against the Falcons.

McCoy is still hoping to land a job on an NFL defensive line. So unfortunately, Bucs fans don’t get to hear his commentary on what’s wrong in Tampa Bay’s trenches. That would be extremely enlightening.

I want to give Todd Bowles a chance, but using Mike Evans like this and running on first down and ending up with 2nd and long and then 3rd and long has to stop.
We want Todd Bowles to win , not turn into Terd Bowls like his tenure with the J-E-T-S,jets jets jest!

  2. LVMYBUCS Says:

BUCS PLEASE FIRE LEFTWITCH AND BOWLES BEFORE ITS TO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. SlyPirate Says:

THE ONLY THING I WANT …

TB12 has decided to take the year off and naturally the team is following their leader.

***Mike Evans getting 1,000 yards is the only thing that matters***

He’s only 603 yards away. I propose the Bucs force Mike the ball for 150 yards a game and we all just mail it in after the next 4 games.

  4. The Beer Whisperer Says:

New game plan; “chuck the football in Mike Evans direction”

    No need for a buncha, x’s & o’s

  5. D-Rok Says:

So, I couldn’t watch the game due to it being blacked out for me. I’m caught up on all the high (low?) lights, pressers, and articles here.

At least 4 players were asked what this team’s identity is. Each player shook their head and pretty much said, “I dunno, man…I just don’t know.”

That is quite striking to me, and if there is ONE thing that points to the coaches, I’d say it’s this topic.

WHAT IS THIS TEAM’S IDENTITY? Until they find it, this is probably the football we can expect. I hope/pray this internal identity finds its way into the psyche of each person on this Bucs team, from top to bottom.

  6. D-Rok Says:

As I’m sure all people who work for a living can relate to, it’s the Mission Statement of their employer. What is this year’s Mission Statement for the Bucs?
    Why isn’t there one?

With Arians, everybody on the planet KNEW what it was: No riskit/no biskit philosophy. What does Bowles want this team to be?

That’s a lack of leadership, IMO, and if it doesn’t change ASAP, well…SIGH.

    (Please!) GO BUCS!!!

  7. SlyPirate Says:

    Quick Question …

If he doesn’t like the play calls, can’t TB12 change the play?

  8. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

FfS I’m so upset still and it’s 1pm on Monday

  9. BucsfanFred Says:

Maybe Evans pissed Brady off somehow???

  10. Redeemer Says:

D-Rok, spot on my friend. They shouldn’t be searching for an identity six weeks into the season. Time is running out. Unless they get their act together, you can say goodbye to a top seed. The bye is week 11 right? That’s usually when teams make major changes if they have to. This team can’t wait until week 12 to make changes. I want to see Brady in the gun 5 wide hurry up to begin every game. When the Patriots struggled on offense, they always did just that. Get the ball out quick, and don’t give the defense time to adjust.

  11. doolnutts Says:

I have found it weird that Mike Evans is not featured more. The guy is getting paid a TON of money to be here. I have no issues with running the football I just think Evans needs to be featured significantly more. For the life of me I can’t figure out why our WRs3,4,5,6 seem to always be focal points. Even this game on a critical 4th down they dump passed to White a rookie RB.. Yeah it worked but why are we doing this? We have a TON of Money in Evans, Godwin and Gage and we aren’t really featuring them. I understand injuries, suspensions other issues but Evans has been here all season long.

  12. desanova Says:

The name of the game is to run the ball into the backside of young offensive linemen for no gain on first down and/or second down to activate the opponent’s pass defense for a 5-step drop with deep patterns only.

  13. SPARKY Says:

They were double teaming Evans.brady ain’t got time to wait for him to get open. After watching Chiefs-Bills yesterday, both teams use the pass to set up the run. Both teams constantly passed on first down. Andy Reid knows more about offensive football than all pur coaches together.

  14. BigMacAttack Says:

I couldn’t agree more and as time goes on GMC is winning back my heart. I wish the Bucs would find him an assistant coaching job. He loves the Bucs and is passionate about football. I think he’d probably almost work for free and could be an asset to the team. He wants to coach and needs an opportunity to coach. Sign him up!

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

And and and….. dig up some cash and bring Suh back. We need him and I don’t care what anyone says to the contrary, including Joe 😂

  16. D-Rok Says:

Hmmm. Reflecting upon my previous “identity” comment, I do recall that in 2020 the Bucs were 7-5 and then suddenly found their identity (aggressive passing team) and went scorched earth on the league, culminating in that glorious SB win over the mighty Chiefs.

Perhaps, just perhaps, it isn’t too late for an identity this year as 2020 showed us. However, my internal clock is just ticking away, kinda like Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny.

Time is ticking, fellas. Let’s get it going, and it all starts with much better play in the trenches.

  17. Adrnagy Says:

3-3 is not bad. With all the bs happening. I rather take this now and finish strong and hot into the playoffs.

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

A defensive lineman could really help teach a young offensive line. Just saying because this garbage can on Sundays isn’t cutting it. Wake up Todd Bowles or you’ll be one and done. They fired Chucky after a winning season and no way the Glazers are going to tolerate this crap. Someone please smack Devin White upside the head and tell him to wake the eff up.

  19. Bucamania Says:

Want to get even more angry? Watch Vita Vea on skates. One man just blocked Vea 4 yards downfield. Zero effort. What the hell is going on with him?

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Playoffs? Playoffs? Who the hell is talking about playoffs?

  21. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The woke crowd keeps using this term “Identity”
The Bucs only identity, should be “Winning”

  22. Crickett Baker Says:

D-Roc, I agree and mentioned the lack of identity myself in a different post. It is so hard to see the team acting clueless. ALSO, Bowles mentioned SEVERAL times, both this week AND last week that the coaching was bad. Well, as he also said, talking doesn’t fix anything. If he knows that the coaching is bad then why doesn’t he DO something about it? The coaching IS bad. That is why the team keeps shaking their heads. They can’t say it.

  23. Darin Says:

Amen McCoy I was talking in caps yesterday too

  24. douglas dallier Says:

BRING BACK SUH OR KISS YOUR ASS AND THE SEASON GOODBYE!!!!!

  25. Kentucky Buc Says:

My cousin RayBob told me the sky is blue and water is wet.

  26. kyle Says:

fire brady, fire leftwhitch, fire bowles… fire licht, fire godeke, fire hainsy, fire keith armstrong, fire dardon… Fire JTS, Fire 45, Fire carlton davis…

    over reaction monday?

  27. kyle Says:

3-3 is good around here… go bucs lets beat the panthers

  28. Jack Sparrow Says:

It’s very simple, Bowles together with his Minion Leftwich does not know how to maximize the weapons in their armory. They keep on using their pistols instead of letting their canon and cruise missiles do the job. As for Brady, I think he is at the point where he does not care anymore about the play calls being made by BL. His mindset is, if it works fine but if doesn’t I dont care. I’m not going to prop up people who really doesn’t deserve to be on their jobs…. jmho…

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

I bet against my Bucs on my sports app this past week. Why? Because of Mike Tomlin. I knew this was a trap game for us. Tomlin is a fierce competitor who fights even better when he is down. They beat us fair and square. Now..Cheer up Buc fans. We will take our vengeance out against the Panthers come Sunday. We will be UP for this game. Stop blaming the coaches. Player’s play. Not the coaches. Our O and D lines are not what they use to be. Even Stevie Wonder can see it.

  30. kyle Says:

    lets take a deep breath

  31. Sal Says:

Get rid of Bowles and Leftwich now before it’s too late #!! 100 percent agreed 👍

  32. Buddha Says:

Quit giving Brady a pass. He is the general. He is treating this season like one long vacation and retirement tour. If he doesn’t snap out of it and quit concentrating one everything he is planning after this season, the Buccaneers won’t win 9 games. Falcons are playing with purpose. They could still win the NFC South. The last three games, the Buccaneers have just gone through the motions. Where is the want to?

  33. D-Rok Says:

Winning is the goal. An identity is what allows them to accomplish their goal. Identity can also be paraphrased to say, “What are GOOD at?” About the only thing I know for sure is the Bucs aren’t good at running left.

Since I missed the game, did the Bucs even attempt to run any jet sweeps to mix things up? Treys/counters? Student body right, something?

  34. BucsFanSince76 Says:

Brady can throw to Evans whenever he wants to??…………….

  35. Kentucky Buc Says:

D-Rok. Bucs are great at running left. 3 steps left. This is Bowles Ball. He wants a defensive battle.

  36. DBS Says:

Suh is NOT going to solve the problem. Get over it. For the most part the defense is only giving up 20 points. The KC game was the worst for points. The Friggin’ offense can’t score. Field Goals are not going to get the job done period! Nobody wanted Bowles involved with the offense. We got it. Now he better get involved or get BA involved. BL is making a shambles of it and is lost.

  37. alton green Says:

sal says; you are 100% correct……kyle says woooooohhh nellie. flip the switch on that weapon. It’s hard to be accurate when you’re firing on fully automatic. It would be impossible to fire Lefty AND that manaquin

  38. captivajim Says:

Even though i was skeptical; I was hoping that Bowles would be OK as HC . But he acts as a spectator on the sidelines ,stands with arms folded ,stoic hardly changes expression ?? He was criticized in new york as a micro mgr–now he seems to have gone 180 degrees in other direction ?? We all question why continue running (& to the left, our weak side ) time after time after time !!!

you’ve got ME , a 1000 yrd HOF receiver who you throw to 4 times ????

  39. Kentucky Buc Says:

Do you guys really think Tomlin didn’t game plan to take Evans away. Cmon man.

  40. Howard Cosell Says:

    Sign McCoy!
He fits in perfectly with this D-line

  41. Roc Says:

SEE MCSoftie is showing up even on Here

I thought the Bucs Got rid of this SOFT AS HECK play and thoughts

  42. Roc Says:

    SUH TWEETED: 😂😂😂😂

  43. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ya know what we haven’t seen lately? That look of discuss Brady gives BL when he makes a stupid call. I wonder if Bowles put a stop to it? Someone posted earlier Brady might be just running the plays BL calls. Mike Johnson@ seriously Tomlin? He just lost 4 games in a row, is he fierce part time?

The team lacks emotion just like the HC. Where the head goes the arse follows.

    #firebowels&bl

  44. Natron Says:

    Bring back GMC…..FOR FREE!!!

  45. BuccaneEric75 Says:

No one has asked the real question that should be asked about why Brady isn’t throwing to Evans. Is Evans even getting open? You can only see so much from the TV broadcast. I want someone on here who watches the All-22 and look to see if Mike is one of the first 2 reads for Brady and how many times he’s open when Brady looks his way. I have no idea, I just never see anyone question M.E. on getting open. Lousy OL play has a hand in that too.

  46. DrunkinYbor Says:

Mike was a AMAZING disguise in formations. Nobody knows how amazingly brilliant and stunningly intelligent throwing the ball to everybody not named EVANS was !!!! PURE! AMAZINGgenius just utterly brilliant!!!! Hands! BRAVO H👐 👏 j…
