Center Comment Tweaks Tom Brady

October 13th, 2022

“Hey Julio, did you hear that? The kid thinks he’s Tom Brady.”

Tom Brady’s eyes widened before a smile broke out across his face this afternoon.

Joe’s not sure what it all meant but it led to Brady saying first year starting center Robert Hainsey might need a big slice of “humble pie.”

The exchange started at Brady’s news conference when a reporter told him Hainsey says “he’s starting to see the field the way you see it.”

Brady smirked as the reporter kept on with the question and even said ‘ok’ before the question was finished.

“I like his confidence,” Brady said of Hainsey with a sly look on his face. “I see [the field] pretty good, that’s one of my strengths. So he might need a little humble pie is what he needs if that’s what he’s [saying]. No, he’s doing a great job. Yeah, he’s doing a great job. I love him being in there and he’s really stepped into a tough position to play. And I’m proud of him for his effort and his commitment and it means a lot to him, and I think everybody feels that from him.”

The Goat went on to explain that Hainsey truly has embraced his responsibility as a starter at a key leadership position.

Joe really enjoyed the fire burning beneath Brady’s reaction. It was as if he was saying, ‘Pipe down, kid. I’m freakin’ Tom Brady. You don’t see the field like me. Nobody does.’

It didn’t feel like it was coming from a guy who plans to retire in a few months.

I am with you on this one Joe. My guess is he has at least one more year in him after this one.

  2. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Amen. Let the master preach. That’ll zip up Hainsey and make him realize he’s got a long way to go.

  3. A Bucs Fan Says:

I don’t think Hainsey and Tom like each other much. Respect sure, but get along? Nah.

  4. #8 Says:

Michigan hates ND. That is why.
    Nebraska is cool though.

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Brady may have another year left in him, but that doe not automatically mean he will play here next year.
Of course, if he does come back, I want it to be here.

  6. Cobraboy Says:

Any word on Jensen? Seems odd, all the crickets.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

There is now a good chance that Brady plays another year…..I think it is very unlikely he would want to play elsewhere…..we have his team locked up.
Jensen, D Smith, Goedeke, Wirfs, Mason
    Lenny, Evans, Godwin (et al)
    Coaches….
In his situation, his friends become much more important……

  8. Goatfarmer Says:

And then there’s Hoedeke. Tom rushes throws because these young dudes have no idea yet what it takes to be great. He even taught Donnie S to be really really good. But Hainsey and Goedecke are both gonna get fed humble pie with a shovel against the Steelers . I don’t care who Tomlin lines up on the FL, they will play lime coke addled axe murderers out there.

    Bowelswich.

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

    Brady wearing the Godwin shirt.

  10. Listnfrmafar Says:

@Tampa, you had me until you wrote coaches.

  11. unbelievable Says:

Hahaha, you can bet Tom will be extra all over his arse the rest of this week in practice.

Oh dang tomorrow’s Friday, guess there isn’t much practice left this week.

  12. Brady Bucs Says:

This is what it will take for Brady for 100 percent not retire and stay with Bucs. His son with Bridget Moynohan is the key to everything. Bridget and Brady get along great but she lives in NY. We need either BLUE BLOODS to get canceled. I have been rooting for that to be canceled since Brady came to tampa. She lets the kid move out to florida with Brady or BLUE BLOODS starts taping in florida. Brady gets divorced but his son is with him in tampa he would be happy with that.

Other scenario is Brady stays with Gisele only because of the money involved. They both agree on staying together that they are more powerful together. Brady is allowed to date whoever he wants and Brady stays with Bucs and they continue to live apart.

Last scenario Brady folds to Gisele. This is not what Brady wants imo but then Gisele will decide what Brady does and doesnt do.

  13. geno711 Says:

Tom Brady loves these coaches. Not sure why anyone thinks any differently.

  14. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady doesn’t have a problem with Hainsey. It’s better to look at the video in order to get the full context. Brady was just ribbing him. Brady is tough on his teammates, but he’s just trying to raise the standards. Brady is very demanding of his centers. They’re stories about his relationship with centers. I know he misses Jensen. Jensen was his enforcer. I wish someone would’ve asked him about Goedeke.

  15. Redeemer Says:

“I like his effort and commitment” that means, shut up rook. I can’t wait for the real center to get healthy.

  16. Arians_red_pen Says:

    Fire Keith Armstrong

  17. D-Rok Says:

I think our O-Line would be considerably better if/when Jensen gets back to playing shape. And just imagine, if RJ got back and got injured again, then whom among us would think the sky is falling if the rookie backup comes in for Jensen?

I am still puzzled WHY no diagnosis has been publicly revealed nor any prognosis. Never heard of this before in the NFL….shaking my head.

I’ve never had a problem with a young player stating they “want to be the best.” Somewhere, about 23 years ago, a nobody 6-rd draft pick told his owner it was the best decision the franchise has ever made. Don’t mind the bravado, IF it is backed up by above-average play.

    GO BUCS!!!

  18. Goatfarmer Says:

Anyone ever put a fork into a can of Alpo dog food? The Bucs are as soft as that.

    Bowelswich.

  19. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Redeemer Amen! These rookies need to pipe down. Goedeke was also running his mouth after the Dallas game, and he’s been trash since that game. Otton keeps his head down and goes about his business. I like the kid. I rather see him play than Brate.

  20. Defense Rules Says:

Got a hunch that Tom will use this a a teaching moment with young Hainsey …

TB12 … ‘Be careful how you respond to media questions Grasshopper. They’ll twist everything you say to substantiate whatever agenda they’re pushing that day.’

Hainsey … ‘But Tom, they ask you thousands of questions. How do you deal with it?’

TB12 … ‘Easy. Just tell them that 90% of what you say in response to their questions is BS. Then they don’t know what to believe, and you can always tell them that you were just BS’ing them if they don’t write what you like’.

  21. Trask To The Future Says:

The Bucs ‘hiding’ Ryan Jensen’s injury is the DUMBEST THING IN FRANCHISE HISTORY.

It makes no sense for them not to just report what injury he has and the status of it.

  22. LakelandSteve Says:

I agree Joe, Brady was laughing and joking and looked like the Tom Brady we are used to. Maybe he has already found a new squeeze or maybe he and Giselle are making up or maybe he has realized that the only peace he is going to get is being with his teammates practicing, watching film, coaching up his teammates and playing football. Maybe it’s his space where he can go and forget about all his troubles and decided to embrace it. Whatever it is I hope it lasts long enough to win another Super Bowl.

  23. Redeemer Says:

D-Rok, it’s because Jensen’s injury occured in camp. The team isn’t required to provide injury updates. Still it’s a little strange to me also. My guess is grade 2 ACL sprain. you’d know more than me with your background. Late November, early December return. Then maybe they could run block

  24. Crickett Baker Says:

I love the upbeat comments. @DefenceRules that last part was pretty funny. Tom is catching with his attitude I think.

  25. firethecannons Says:

OMG! I wish our team could play the Bears–Justin Fields is awful–hot garbage! 1st series 2 or 3 sacks already. wow we need a good quarterback next year

  26. ModHairKen Says:

How f’ing lucky are we Bucs fans to have Tom F’ing Brady as our QB?????

  27. Redeemer Says:

This Thursday night game is as bad as NFL football gets. Vote Dan Snyder out. Oh wait, he’ll spill the beans.

  28. Bucsfan13 Says:

Offensive production is down across the league. Hasn’t been this bad since 2010.

  29. Goatfarmer Says:

Tom Brady >> Rest of NFL. In every way.

If only his mates not named (the ones I previously named) could get a clue to the preparation and consistency required.

Steelers look like a bulldozer about to kill us under an incline.

  30. adam from ny Says:

honestly tommy b is looking better already…wearing a young mans shirt. more ease iand smiles n his face…one would have to believe he has found someone to help him with his manly releases after what happened with wifey…he’s less tense…he’s found someone to handle the plumbing 🙂

  31. adam from ny Says:

    typo:

wearing a young mans shirt ,more at ease and smiles in his face…

  32. garro Says:

Hainsey is not the only one who thinks he’s better than he is…looking at you Bored Devon…and you JTS. Teammates need to get these guys in line ! I say way to go TB 12…that’s leadership!

  33. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Talk about the talk police! No one’s allowed to speak their opinion anymore? I’m sure told him when you can help your running backs get 4th&inches on a regular basis then you can talk.

  34. Brandon Says:

He said he’s “starting to see the field the way Brady sees it…” and Brady was bothered by it? Brady is great but his ego is way greater and has been his undoing in most of his poor performances as a Buc. Starting to see the field is just that, a start… he didn’t say he saw it the way Brady sees it, or sees it better, but starting to…. its a start.

  35. JB Says:

Robert Hainsey will be the starter in Tampa for years to come. Ryan Jensen will never play another snap for the Bucs. Hainsey is playing as well as Jensen ever did, if you believe things like PFF scores – he’s actually better. As a rookie. That’s huge. Jensen was a solid slightly above average technique wise player that elevated the team due to his nasty attitude. Hainsey does not have that, but technique wise he is actually bigger and better. Let someone else be the cheerleader. Jensen’s injury was almost career ending and he might not be the same anyway. They aren’t talking about Jensen because they don’t want to bring him back anyway. Everybody knows this, quit asking.

  36. Bob Buc Says:

Hainsey has what, 4 or 5 starts to Brady’s 307? That’s comparing a Cray supercomputer to a pocket calculator. Hainsey’s playing great given his experience but he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know yet.

  37. Bob Buc Says:

Actually, to better classify this level of ig’nant, Brady has more Superbowl starts than Hainsey has regular season starts. Tommy did well to not piss himself laughing.

  38. Joe Says:

if you believe things like PFF scores

NFL people don’t, *especially* when it comes to the offensive line.

  39. Jack dos Santos Says:

@bob buc.. you got that right! @ModHairKen… F**k Yea!!! How awesome would it be if we could squeeze one more year out of Brady. I honestly don’t think it will happen bc we don’ have there are some coaching flaws with this team.
