Breakout Games For Young Defensive Linemen?

October 9th, 2022

Best game yet?

If today was a sneak peek into how the young Bucs defensive linemen can play, the Bucs will be in good hands for quite a few years.

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, in his second season, likely had the best half of football since the Bucs drafted him in the first round in 2021. This spring’s first Bucs pick, Logan Hall, had a beastly game displaying a nasty burst to get penetration. And even the pride of USF and Naples native Deadrin Senat flashed.

The Bucs finished the 21-15 win with five sacks and 10 — 10! — quarterback hits. That surprised Joe.

Why was Joe surprised? Gimmick Wing-T Atlanta quarterback Marcus Mariota, who Joe admits is a helluva athlete and escape artist, should be too slithery to be brought down so many times. Joe was wrong.

“I thought the sacks might be lower because they ran the ball so much,” Hall told Joe. “The defensive line was flying around making plays.

“A lot of guys were in the right place doing the right things. Activity and execution.”

Joe loves that line: activity and execution.

JTS, who had a sack and two quarterback hits in the first half, suggested the success against Mariota was just simple teamwork.

“We had to contain him as a defense,” JTS said. “Flush him to the outside. He got a couple of runs. He’s a good athlete. But other than that, I think we did a good job.”

Better than good. More like damn good. And Joe doesn’t think it’s a stretch that had the Bucs’ defensive line not suffocated Mariota like they did, perhaps Bucs fans would not be in such a good mood right about now.

    Hes a freak

  2. Bojim Says:

Why do we constantly keep talking about a half? We need a whole game.

  3. Coburn Says:

A lot of us dissed JTS this morning and he and hall had some flashes in the first half. Both kinda disappeared in the second though

  4. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I believe DT Logan Hall had a sack too.

  5. David Says:

People seem to forget JTS had a great first half against Dallas. There was another game where he flashed as well. Logan Hall seems to be getting better with the playing time that he gets as well.
I would really like to see Shaq Barrett have a dominating game against Pittsburgh

  6. Bucs Win Says:

Logan Hall is a good player. Jill Tryon-Shoyinka has zero football instincts, she never sets the edge, and she jumps out of her gap on run plays. The kid is soft and reminds me of Gaines Adams.

  7. Buccos Says:

Logan Hall is a beast and Senat was making plays all over. I don’t know who he is but he looks like a starter to me. Senat was more disruptive than Vita Vea

  8. Bucschamp Says:

Yeah I thought Logan Hall showed more power. you could easily see him he’s big. JTS glad you got a good game but you need to be an all around guy. Don’t just hunt for glory sacks

@Bucs Win. Damn bro. That’s cold. I mean well said and I agree. But damn that was cold. Far to many times the falcons ran right at JTS and he jumped out of his gap or just got blown off the ball and gave up big plays.

Joe was aight… but that boy Logan Hall 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 need to play a lot more because Nacho time is up he is a major liability in the run game dude been getting manhandled every game
