Tom Brady Will Skip Wednesdays The Rest Of The Season

September 18th, 2022

“Julio, I got better things to do with my time, man.”

It’s official, via NFL.com, and certainly subject to change. But as of today Tom Brady will take a personal day every Wednesday for the rest of the 2022 season.

It’s being presented by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport that Brady won’t just skip practice, he’ll be out of the building rather than watching film and being the influential in-person presence he’s known to be.

Joe can’t pretend that Brady missing a key weekly practice day — often the only one in which the team is in pads  — is a positive development. Sorry, but Joe won’t go there after hearing how valuable Brady’s presence is for more than two years.

Regardless, Joe isn’t worried about Brady’s readiness to perform when it counts. Joe is only a little down about what this means for the rest of the club’s readiness.

This is getting ridiculous. I used to hate TB and I’m getting that same feeling with all of this taking time off nonsense. This is your job, your team. All in my ass.

  2. BrianBucs Says:

    Happy Wife, Happy Life

  3. Bucschamp Says:

If this makes the wife happy then I’m ok with it

  4. Onetrickpony Says:

Big deal I see other players taking Sunday off

  5. Kentucky Buc Says:

He’s had a vet day every week since he’s been in Tampa. Joe working on that masters degree in Triggernometry. He doesn’t need to be there to hold grown mens hands. Hicks, Evans,LVD,Julio, among others get a vet day every week.

  6. BigMacAttack Says:

This looks like an attempt to help ease his marriage problems. Hopefully get Gisele to back off and realize the commitment has been made. She’s obviously not backing down. She’s doing what women do. If she’s going to miserable she’s going to make everyone miserable. She probably puts much of the blame on the Bucs and they’re going to feel here wrath. Tom needs to man up, commit to the future for her in or out, and tell her now to wait and support or hit the road. This may become a huge problem if she doesn’t back down.

  7. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I was ok with the time off during training camp.

But this is ridiculous. TB12 is getting paid millions to do his job. The team has spent money like their hair is on fire as their contribution to the BUCS to have another shot at a SB. Gissy can wait a few more months TB12. You made a commitment, the team made a commitment, the players are committed. This is just wrong for a GOAT to do.

  8. Coran Says:

Again, he’s 45. Unprecedented situation requires unprecedented approach. He has forgotten more football already than many NFL players ever know. Obviously his chemistry with receivers is just fine. The only one we haven’t seen is Gage but he’s been injured and all camp it was “look how connected they are”. The line played just fine, smith will probably be back next week. There will be work on pass pro that the coaches can handle. Plus this probably placates Giselle making Brady happier and less distracted overall.

Even if everything I just said was wrong, only having Tom on game days is WWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY better than the alternative. Obviously this is a story to report, but not one to worry about. He was already getting vet days as has previously been noted by others.

Let’s crush the Aints today. Go bucs!

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

How many women who aren’t multi multi millionaires don’t get to see their husbands. Let’s start with US Military personnel on deployments. Then cops and other first responders, all types of blue collar workers holding down 2 or more jobs to survive. Single mothers working continuously to just pay bills and barely see their children. Gisele is being a selfish little brat. She’s had people catering to her every need for years, kissing her a__. Tom Brady is bigger than one man, one player or one QB. She needs to realize the end is near and grow up. Count your blessings and stop being a selfish little Bih. I’m done.

  10. Coran Says:

“He’s being paid millions” yeah, tens of millions less than he should.
“He made a commitment” yeah, to his wife, family, AND the bucs. I get why fans do this, but really, fans need to get that it’s not all about them… wish I could add this to my post above lol. Is it better for him to be there? Yes. But for all we know this is just a continuation of his veteran rest days (and at 45, no one needs them more lol) and might put him in a better mood when he’s with the team. This COULD end up helping the bucs. We shall see

  11. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

As a poster here said “Happy Wife Happy Life”.
I think this was the best Tom could do to save his marriage, so I support him.
After all, Tom promised her he was gonna retire, and went back on his promise.
Giselle is simply being a woman, who wants her Man home with her and the children.
I do not blame her for anything.
Nor do I blame Tom either.

  12. CrackWise Says:

I like it, this gives the team and coaches time to get the feel for things post Brady.

SUPER VALUBLE TIME for Kyle to continue to DEVELOPE.

AND if Brady decides to play like CRAP, Kyle will be ready to step up a lot sooner than next year.

This is a WIN WIN for everyone. NOW just Win the game for the FANS and all is good in the world!!!

  13. HC Grover Says:

    Hump Day

  14. MonkeyMan Says:

Doesn’t phase me one bit. He’s there to manage the games using his skills and experience. Time for the others to step up become the next leader. He’ll show up every Sunday (or MNF) and be 100% dialed.

If you think things aren’t going to change throughout the NFL for many players and teams after what Brady has done this year, you are kidding yourselves.

This will become the norm and new NFL. Get used to it or STFU and go cry about it like a loser.

    Onwards.

  15. CrackWise Says:

    @Coran

I get paid far less to do a job that serves far more than entertaining people. I am gonna go into work tomorrow and demand I get PERSONAL Days off to be with my wife and kids.

I don’t think my wife will mind if they fire me or if I quit…………. I’m gonna have to sleep on this one.

  16. Da Bucs Guy Says:

Todays game will be over halftime. The Saints will extend their win streak against the Bucs. So Brady will get Wednesday off and a half day today.

  17. Juliano Says:

What has Brady EVER done for the Bucs????!!!!

  18. Marine Buc Says:

I’m not too worried about this – TB12 was already taking days off every week and so does every other veteran.

If this helps calm down the uber-diva then so be it… Stop complaining about Tom Brady. Just enjoy the wealth he has brought to this franchise the past three seasons.

  19. EEK Says:

    Hybrid employee
    Like many of us
    No commute
    No problem
    Work life balance
    I’m all for it

  20. tampabayallday Says:

I hope Giselle does try to force him out because that will cause TB to resent her and then DUMP HER! The best thing she could do is fully support him to win and then he can truly retire, but with how its going I don’t see it lasting.

  21. Bucanero Says:

I love it. When he said that he would have to be 100% in or nothing I was more than willing to take 51% Brady than any other option. It is what it is folks let’s ride the GOAT to the sunset

  22. Da Bucs Guy Says:

After a couple of loses, TB12 will take Sundays off as well.

  23. Bucsfan13 Says:

He’s been getting vet day since he’s got here! And not just him! Why pretend like you don’t this when you actually follow the team. I expect this from the national media, but not the local guys. And he will still be in the building. This isn’t news. It’s only a story because it’s Tom Brady. People are getting worked up at his every move. They’re actually now stalking his wife and kids. This is ridiculous. I hope this really fuels him even more.

Brady is a damn film junkie. To suggest he’s not watching film is disingenuous. Players and coaches watch film even when they’re not at the facility. It’s called technology.

  24. lambeau Says:

Tom doesn’t lift, so he’s also off Monday and Tuesday.
But we can all relate–what can you do when she says “otherwise I’m gone”?

  25. Miguel Says:

Quiet quitting is a real thing.

  26. Beeej Says:

Also gives Trask/Gabbert more reps, and ONE of them will be our QB next year

  27. Miller5252 Says:

I’ve listened to Brady in the past and he talks about distractions to the team can cause issues, without distractions, it’s hard enough to make sure everyone is ready. It becomes a fine line with teammates when you expect 100% from them but don’t give 100% yourself. It’s just surprising…. Your last year and dont want to do everything you can to win. I don’t care either way what he does, but it’ll be interesting how the team responds to all this.

  28. Steven007 Says:

“Bucs Guy’, you’re a poor troll. Don’t you have any better material?

  29. Mr. Editor Says:

If the Bucs win, all is right in the world. If the Bucs lose, this news will be repeated and magnified.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

What about the Thurs night game that they play?

Does he skip practice the day before that?

  31. Browsing from DC Says:

You have a 45 year old QB who has more football knowledge than most of the current NFL head coaches, knows his own body and what it needs as much as most pro trainers do, has given everything he has for 23+ years including college ball and has a family that he actually cares about.

He wants or needs a day off (or extra day off) to rest or heal his body? Maybe mend some fences at home? Fine by me (and he doesn’t need it to be fine with me or anyone outside of the team).

If he was all about himself as some knuckleheads have inferred, he’d still be retired, have no troubles at home and still have a legacy that will be forever unmatched. Be happy. Be VERY HAPPY he’s giving one more year to the Bucs.

I’m not just happy, I’m grateful.

  32. Christina olive Says:

If this helps him with his family life I’m all for it and I think he deserves it.

  33. bojim Says:

    I’m cool with it.

  34. Maniac Buc Says:

    These comments are hilarious 🤦🏾‍♂️

  35. Defense Rules Says:

Mr Editor … ‘If the Bucs win, all is right in the world. If the Bucs lose, this news will be repeated and magnified.’

And there-in lies the bottom line: Win baby win! As mama used to say … ‘The proof is in the puddin’.

And for those wondering, Tom Brady isn’t all-in this season, regardless of what folks are saying. Would you be all-in with the ‘distractions’ that he’s been having? (Little things like a very unhappy wife, multiple business interests/opportunities to shuffle, a half-crippled offense, etc, etc). Like he said weeks ago, he’s dealing with a lot of sh!t.

Question is: Can we win the NFC South crown & make the playoffs with ‘distracted’ 45-year-old QB? I’m convinced we can, since that 45-year-old QB’s name is Tom Brady. Still, this year will end up being much different than last year. Back then TB12 brought us back in a handful of games to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. This year the rest of the team will need to step up to make that happen, and especially the Bucs’ DEFENSE.

  36. BT Says:

Not sure people understand practice week schedule. This is NOT a big deal. Media just looking for anything to write about.

  37. Tackleblockwin Says:

Doesn’t bother me one bit. Besides, I like the idea of a backup QB getting some first team reps.

  38. PhxBucsFan Says:

Is it just me, or is Gisele Bündchen becoming the Yoko Ono of our Buccaneers?

  39. Goatfarmer Says:

Dump the dud. Please dump the dud.

  40. unbelievable Says:

TB12 is clearly no longer “all in”.

Oh well. At least we’ll always have the 2020 SB win.

  41. sasquatch Says:

Anyone still entertaining the idea that TB may play in 2023 should probably check themselves into a mental facility. He’s only half there this year.

  42. wackiejackie1212 Says:

Mrs. Brady should support her hubby this last season. Not only is she letting down her hubby and family but also all of the Bucs team, employees and fans too. Such a shame Mrs. Brady can you hang in their just 5 more months?

Not sure people understand practice week schedule. This is NOT a big deal. Media just looking for anything to write about.

It’s only NOT a big deal if you think he’s not the only player in the league allowed to do this.

No team would do this for any other player. No other player would even ask for this kind of accommodation. He’s only half there. If the most important player on your team is only there on a part time basis, there’s an impact. He’ll probably still play well on Sundays, but he’s not “all-in” and he’s not doing everything he can to help the team win. I’m not criticizing him for wanting to save his marriage and keep his family together. It’s just clear he’s at least partially regretting un-retiring. Let’s hope the impact is minimal and that we can still make a Superbowl. We shall see. But it’s dishonest and irrational to say it’s not at least a semi-big deal.

  44. Ladygaz Says:

Brady has given his teams, patriots & bucs, his all, always! Now here in what’s apparently his last year on the field, he deserves his vet day.

  45. GronksRibs Says:

Some you took issue with my post but that’s ok. I’m very happy with the win but Tommy sure didn’t look too sharp yesterday. But hey, don’t worry, he’ll have an extra day this and every week when, instead, he could be getting in sync with his teammates.
