Report: Bucs Front Office Had Reserved Seating Available

September 19th, 2022

Seating arrangements.

UPDATED 4:21 p.m. – First, let Joe be direct and upfront here: Joe doesn’t give two s(p)its where Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht or former Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians choose to watch a game.

If they want to sit in the rafters, fine. If they want to hang at a bar and do shots and watch the game on TV, fine. If they want to stand on the sidelines, fine. Makes not one iota of a difference to Joe.

However, there seems to be a kerfuffle with some that Arians happened to be on the sideline of the Bucs game yesterday. And some believe mouthy slimy Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore and Arians allegedly dog-cussed each other which, some believe, directly sparked Mike Evans to clobber Lattimore.

Evans was issued a one-game suspension for the Packers game by NFL suit Jon Runyan, Sr., former Michigan teammate of Tom Brady and father of Packers starting left guard Jon Runyan, Jr.

Evans will appeal the suspension.

Today, Bucs coach Todd Bowles explained that Arians (and Licht) were down on the sideline because the slimy Saints did not have a “box” for them “upstairs.” A “box” means a suite, luxury box or the press box.

The creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, has information that Bowles’ information is not fully accurate.

Joe is guessing Florio texted someone with the slimy Saints media relations department that not only confirmed the slimy Saints did have reserved seats for Arians, but it appears Arians had his choice of seats.

But it’s not as if the Bucs were frozen out. They had booth No. 6 on the 700 level of the stadium for the team’s coaches. Also, Buccaneers ownership had suite 403. Licht and Arians (and other members from Licht’s staff) could have watched the game from either place.

Also, per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Saints provided 18 seats in the press box for Tampa Bay personnel. Licht and Arians had reserved seats there, literally with their names on them.

As Joe pointed out here, the notion that the slimy Saints did not have a seat for Arians (allegedly) seemed weird NFL clubs are required by the league to have reserved seating for visiting teams’ staff, which includes front office personnel.

Sometimes that’s a luxury box. Sometimes that’s a suite. Sometimes that’s the press box.

And it is not unusual for Licht and his entourage to sit in the press box at road games, specifically at the Superdome. So as Joe wrote earlier, it seemed very odd the slimy Saints didn’t have a seat for Arians.

Again, Joe doesn’t give a damn where Arians sits.

Joe already wrote about why Licht is often seen on the sidelines in recent seasons.

UPDATE: Todd Bowles later told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Arians had a seat but couldn’t see well from it, so he came down to the sidelines.

  1. Maniac Buc Says:

Who cares. They can watch the game from a mini helicopter hovering above the 50 yard line as far I’m concerned, still doesn’t change the fact Evans suspension is BS.

  2. Mike Says:

If I were those guys I would rather be on the sidelines watching the game.

  3. 02,20,2022 Says:

This is Florio trying to “eat of Bruce/Bucs” and stay relevant. He’s had an axe to grind against BA for awhile and there was a perfect opportunity to pile on. We are on to Green Bay.

  4. Redeemer Says:

Licht is the GM, so wherever he wants to sit or stand is fine with me. It’s BA I have a problem with. Everyone knows it’s a ceremonial position anyway. He’s never been anything but a coach in the league. I just don’t like the look of last year’s coach being on this year’s coaches sideline.

  5. duff man Says:

mike evans is mr tampa bay buccaneer. they need to build him a statue when he retires

  6. B.D Says:

    Easy solution,make them assistant coaches….

  7. Redeemer Says:

Try this on. Let’s say Bill Belichick retired last year and Josh McDaniels got the job. If Bill was to show up on the sideline, we all know how it would look. Ariana owes it to bowles to be nowhere near the sideline. It maybe just a perception thing, but it’s still a bad look.

  8. B.D Says:

You can have both files no?

  9. gbobucsfan Says:

If Cory Bichey can be on the sidelines with that haircut, I think BA should be allowed there.

  10. B.D Says:

I think Ariens and Bowles are pretty tight,so I don’t see a problem.

  11. B.D Says:

    Both roles

  12. unbelievable Says:

Florio must have creamed his pants before writing this latest update.

Guy has such a hard on for the Bucs for some weird reason. Maybe b/c he works with Chris Simms? I dunno, but it’s weird.

And on this issue: I give less that zero f@cks about it. Plenty of executives are seen on the sidelines frequently.

  13. geno711 Says:

    @Redeemer

Not a bad look to me or the Joe’s it seems.

Some people look for perception issues in a lot of things. NFL coaches and personnel seem to know how to deal with silly media or fan perception and let that SH*T slide off their back.

I am pretty sure Bowles has no problem in his relationship with either of those two guys. My obvious guess is that he loves those guys and really has no problem with them being active in game supporters for the guys and coaches on the team.

  14. BucsfanFred Says:

    What’s with the mistruths???
    There’s no need to lie.
That said, there’s never been a problem for guests to be on the sidelines that I was aware of or it was largely overlooked most of the time

  15. Red86 Says:

Let me get this straight Rodger Boooodell. LVD got called for an innocent hit to the back of a Ain’ts wideout. Ok cool. But, Lattimore punched multiple players in the face mask and no fine or suspension. Guess, the league appears to be rigged. Aaron Donald used a helmet to hit someone in the playoff and this preseason joint practice. No suspension or fine. Alvin Kamara knocked out and assaulted a guy in an elevator. No suspension. All players played against the Bucs or wasn’t suspended before the game started. Is there a bias against the Bucs or Brady? Isn’t safety and not hitting the head is important or is it a publicity stunt?

  16. SB~LV Says:

Yawn… well except the next Saints vs Bucs game is MNF !!!
Better have some extra refs with cattle prods !
Gonna be a great match up !

  17. westernbuc Says:

Florio is compromised. I don’t care how connected he is, he has it out for BA.

Why is no one asking where Licht is supposed to sit?

  18. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Don’t get in the way. Bowles and about 70 other people have jobs to do every Sunday so don’t inhibit that and go anywhere else the NFL lets you.

  19. Bucsfan951 Says:

I still could care less about what that female (checks paper) Mike Florio, says or does. Real question is, does he still hold up in his basement?

  20. Buccobill99 Says:

Does it really matter now little gossip girl florio is

  21. BucsFan81 Says:

I hope Arians is on the sideline for rest of the season. Screw the NFL. They are just hating that the refs couldn’t steal the game for the Saints. Convenient how they suspend Evans but nothing happens to Lattimore who is always the one that seems to start it.

  22. DBS Says:

MNF. Lattimore better consider himself warned. Will be hard to suspend the entire team.

  23. gotbbucs Says:

Here’s the thing. Arians will never be able to resist the temptation to intervene in the game, be it cussing at refs, chirping in coaches ears, or jawing with player’s, be it opposing players or Bucs players. He doesn’t have the will power to hold back that urge so long as he has access. I get it, all coaches struggle to not coach when they’ve been a coach before and an opportunity presents itself to let your opinion be known. He can’t help himself.
This is why Arians can’t be on the sideline during games, because he will alter the game one way or another if given the chance. The organization is going to have to put him in timeout until he learns his limitations.

Jason Licht being on the sideline is a totally different animal. He is the General Manager of this football team. He has every right to be on the field. If Arians was a level headed person he would be welcome too, but he is a Woody Hayes incident waiting to happen with his temperament and now possible frustration with his limited power to do anything about the game in front of him.

You wanna see Brady lose his mind? Wait for Arians to get a 15 yard sideline penalty at an important time in a big game. This is a distinct possibility with Arians wondering around without a leash.

  24. CrackWise Says:

The biggest reason this is getting so much attention is because the NARRATIVE the Todd and this coaching staff is new gets destroyed.

How many people would be up in arms if Shyawn Peeton was on the sideline for the Saints yesterday???

    Honest question!!!

  25. Herbiebuc Says:

Nobody says anything about jerry Jones and Arthur blank Bruce still has a front office job! Maybe the players react well to Bruce presence on field I REALLY WISH THE NATIONAL MEDIA WOULDVSTAY OUT OF OUR TEAM BUSINESS! FREE MIKE EVANS!

  26. Kentucky Buc Says:

For those that haven’t figured it out yet the Bucs are now starting to get the Patriots of old treatment. Every time anyone associated with the Bucs breaks wind the media will try to drum up some controversy . Just look at the last few months. Everything is overblown. O line, Brady 11 days off(3 in reality) Gizzard mad at Tom etc etc etc… Welcome to life with the goat.

  27. David Says:

    WHO CARES?!?

Does Florio have so little content that this is a story? Someone from the organization is on the sidelines and he cares? Why?
Does he do this when the LA Rams have celebrities hanging out on the sidelines? This is beyond ridiculous

Can we get some real stories now?

    How is Akiem Hicks foot?
If ME13 appeals, will it enable him to play this weekend and serve a suspension later on? That would be ideal.
Do they expect Julio Jones back?
Do they expect Donovan Smith to return this week?

  28. CrackWise Says:

Lets be honest, that SPECIAL ROLE has not been told to anyone for a reason.

BA being on the sideline reveals a piece of said “SPECIAL ROLE”.

Why is everyone tripping over his ROLE being REVEALED?

That said, anyone making comments about the appearance of a former coach appearing on the sideline is a bad look. IS MISSING THE FACT that BA did not retire or get fired. He simply handed the reins over to a guy he loves and told him not to worry, he (BA) was still gonna be involved.

To me, all this situation does is reinforce the fact that BA love Todd and that he is there to be a part of Todds success. I love that about BOTH BA and Todd. They are still awesome leaders and TEAMMATES!!!

  29. Winny Testaverde Says:

There it is…taking up for Florio.

  30. SKBucsFan Says:

    Thanks for clarifying Joe.
I assumed that visiting owners and personnel would have been given a box of some sort. I didnt think it would be two boxes. Although its also fair to assume the owners would expect to be treated like royalty at an NFL event.

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe for punishment the NFL will put them on a plane and send them to Martha’s Vineyard.

  32. Hodad Says:

It’s simple. There’s either a rule as to who can be on the sideline, or there isn’t? If there’s no rule as to who, or how many people can be on the sideline, than the Bucs broke no rules. Florio, the NFL should just shut up about it if no rules were broken. Joe clear this up, if Arains was being so obnoxous to the refs, couldn’t they throw an unsportsman penalty to the bench, and even double it, and have Arains thrown out? If they have that power, and let things escalate they way they did it’s on the officals for losing control of things.

  33. Infomeplease Says:

Anybody with the proper credentials has a right to be on the sidelines!!!!!!!!!

  34. Infomeplease Says:

BA and L had their credentials on a lanyard around their neck. Florida is just making up shi_!!! Looking I for clicks on the click bank!!

  35. Infomeplease Says:

    Florio lol

  36. MadMax Says:

Aha! yeah that doll was planted somewhere lol…..just kidding. But if it was, it worked hahahahaha.

  37. JA Says:

    Off with their heads!
These ongoing sideline crimes against humanity must be extirpated without delay.
How about a Nuremberg Trial, Part II?
Florio, who leads a pogrom against truth in sports reporting, could prosecute when he is not reminding the jurors he is a lawyer for the hundredth time.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

Would you want to sit up in a box in New Orleans surrounded by all those inbreds who were literally taking dumps in the owner box during Katrina? I don’t think so. At least on field you don’t have to worry about 17-year old diarrhea seeping out of the drop ceiling above your head.

  39. J Ghotier Says:

Florio is achieving one thing (and too many are following) in taking away the focus on what was actually important and meaningful….and that’s a HUGE victory yesterday.

Who gives a crap about this – which is essentially nothing – and let’s talk about and focus on the Dub. These guys and Team deserve that from us all after what they did to our nemesis yesterday. That was beautiful stuff. The stuff we create problems or have issues w/ in Life these days are beyond silly and perplexing (Florio the main culprit and this is what we wants in re: to the Bucs specifically, but also just in general).

The win people, not this bologna. The WIN!

  40. JP Says:

pregnant girls, they always hang out together.
Looks like Licht is 5 months pregnant and BA is 6.5 months pregnant in that pic.

  41. CrackWise Says:

Also note, anyone that did not see this coming CLEARLY missed BA getting flagged during Training camp for getting in the Refs ear.

SO, anyone thinking that the NFL and the Refs were unaware that BA would be on the sidelines is just DUMB.

  42. CrackWise Says:

    @JP

Good observation, and let me guess, you’re the one that got them pregnant with that Matt Gay comment???

  43. Nicky666 Says:

I hope B.A. stays on the sidelines for the rest of the year – I feel better about things when he is around – NOW ON TO THE CHEESEHEADS! GO BUCS!!!

  44. Rod Munch Says:

CrackWise – At least everyone on this site is progressive enough to know the truth, that men CAN get pregnant. That’s what is important here.

  45. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t care what anyone thinks…..I just love having that old, drunk SOB on the sidelines cussing out refs & Saints players……

    You gotta love it!!!

  46. Goatfarmer Says:

Florio is a little biotch. Give her zero more oxygen by spreading her false implications.

  47. CrackWise Says:

    @Rod Munch

LMFAO, you just made me spit my drink out bro. So true though, EVERYONE knows men can get pregnant now. Thank goodness for our Commander and Chief!!!

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Florio is the biggest fake news cupcake in the business, just literally makes stuff up to stir the pot. Now sure how people still take him seriously. I will say, however, that he did do some good, he helped launched Chris Simms, and I actually quite enjoy his show when he’s not with Folio and is just talking football, and not fake news gossip.

  49. LakelandSteve Says:

Florio hates everything Bucs. He oozes hate for Brady and it appears Arians. The guy is a total piece of garbage. Funny thing about that white spec on top of a pile of shyte. The white spec is Mike Florio.

  50. J Ghotier Says:

I thought this was supposed to be Victory Monday

Seems more like just Drama (Florio’s specialty) Day. Not to mention this is one of our biggest Regular Season wins in a bit. We have lost major focus.

What we find or decide takes precedent as far as what’s the most important has gone to the wayside way too much.

Here’s to Victory Monday for those that would rather talk a Bucs win on Victory Monday in place of Freshman Drama (because it sells) and listen to Freshman Florio 🍻

  51. Rod Munch Says:

    LakelandSteve Says:

    Florio hates everything Bucs.

    ———-

I wouldn’t say that, he just likes stirring the pot and trying to create controversy so people will talk about him. But I think what he actually hates is football, which is why he talks about it so little, and instead just does gossip and fake lawsuits and fake outrage.

  52. Capt.Tim Says:

Who gives a damn where they sit!
And Thanks maniac Buc. The “ mini helicopter” remark made me spit my martini!

  53. JP Says:

no crackwise but back in the day I may have filled yo mammas crack

  54. CrackWise Says:

Interesting, I aways wondered who my real dad was. Glad to know your still around @JP

  55. CrackWise Says:

And thank you for the closure. It’s been a rough life without you around.

  56. BigMacAttack Says:

Whata scam suspension to help his son. DB55 should overturn because it’s tainted and Lattimore walks with nothing

  57. AbucAway Says:

Wow, so Florio is so irrelevant he has to make a non issue the issue? This isn’t where BA was or even what was said. This is about the history between Mike and Marsha. It boiled over like it was bound to do. And probably will again; no matter what space BA is occupying.

  58. Aaron Says:

If he can’t see from up there then watch it from home he isn’t the coach anymore lol getting old buddy

  59. Old School Bucs Says:

Evans gets suspended but the trouble maker looking to start Sh*t the whole game walks!!! Geeze I am starting to see a theme here especially listening to those announcers the whole game. Talk about a bias!!! The media hate on Brady is really starting to show as it transcends to the league as a whole. That Lattimore is a punk and Evans hit on him wasnt enough!!! Hey Media/ NFL Bucs still won!!! 😂🤣😭😂🤣😭😂🤣😭😂🤣😭! There is no substitute for winning!!

  60. Redeemer Says:

If Bowles is fine with it, then I guess everyone else should be too. If it were me, I wouldn’t be fine with it. I bet most grown men wouldn’t be. Bowles has already been a head coach in the league. He must know how it looks. I bet cash money we won’t see BA on the sideline again this year.

  61. Redeemer Says:

Holy smokes, the Joe’s mods allow a horrible slander against CrackWise and his Mom, but have banned countless posters? What kind of site you people running?

  62. stpetebucfan Says:

    @KYBuc

“are now starting to get the Patriots of old treatment.”

Agree and we should wear that with a great deal of pride. It’s the good ole USA.
We love folks until they get too good or high and mighty. How many fans over the years outside of NYC transplants have the Yankees had…plenty of course but how many enemies did they also have. Considering they stole Roger Maris from KC and Babe Ruth from Boston they are not beloved everywhere.

Sadly we even have trolls on this board who take shots at BA..TB.. etc.

    People just get jealous.

BTW what part of Ky. ? I grew up on the Ohio river first in Newport Ky then in Fort Thomas Ky. also got to spend some professional time in Whitesburg on the SE border with VA.

  63. CrackWise Says:

    @Redeemer

I will take you up on that bet. You, just like no one else outside of a handful of people at OBP know what the Special Role was that BA got.

For all we know. BA made the deal with Todd SO LONG as he was allowed to be on field DURING PRACTICE and the games.

Facts escape most, I get that. BUT BA did not get fired nor did he RETIRE. The fact of the matter is he HANDOFF the team to a SUPER GOOD friend of his. A friend that he had just won a SUPER BOWL with.

The FACT is, Todd appreciates and respects BA so much that he would probably let him do press conferences after the game IF BA really wanted to.

Yall are some strange FANTASTICs at times. OTHERWISE, carry on!

  64. CrackWise Says:

    @Redeemer

I thought the same thing bro. I appreciate you noticing that. Its ok though, I made him out to look like the DEAD BEAT that he is.

    Most can’t Crack the Wise!!!

  65. Bucschamp Says:

Poor saints can’t get over the loss

  66. Adam’s Angry Says:

If I was a team owner, it would be hard for me NOT to watch the game from the sidelines. I’d at least START on the sidelines before going up to the box. I’d want to tell my guys good luck, let them know I cared, maybe pray with the team. I don’t know if I would stay on the sidelines the whole game because I don’t want to be thought of as a micromanager, but I’d definitely be one of those owners who wasn’t insulated from the employees. I’d want to know everyone’s name and I’d want to be accessible.

That’s just me. I’m in a business where visibility is important.

  67. Redeemer Says:

CrackWise, I think you, the Joe’s and about 10 other people in the world still believe BA wasn’t ushered into his new role. Whatever the hell that role is. If you were starting a franchise today, would you really want Bruce Arians specially assisting anyone? I sure wouldn’t Unless he’s offering advice on whiskey, stay the hell out the way.

  68. Bobby Says:

Sideline gate lol, here we go again.

  69. Bobby Says:

Or box gate, I could do this endlessly lol.

  70. Sparky Says:

Well, this explains why your other story on it didn’t really make sense. It’s because they actually had seats.

  71. Stanglassman Says:

The saints claimed they didn’t have a box for the Bucs executives because of construction. Supposedly had 3 seats in the press box for the 6 of them. They understandably wanted to stay together so they watched from the sidelines. Apparently BA really enjoyed it on the field. It will be interesting to see where he is next week for the home GB game.

  72. Alvafan Says:

Anyone remember BA’s comments to the media after last year’s game in NO? He trashed the defense. He called them dumb for committing so many PF. He said he warned them that the zebras for that game were likely to call PFs for roughing the passer. He questioned the effort of the team except for DW. I disagreed with his entire take on that game. I think his game plan sucked and he wore out the defense by throwing the ball a day long and it didn’t help that they couldn’t get off the field on third down. Most of the PFs were borderline or blatantly bad calls by the refs. There DBs were holding on every play. Especially Lattimore on Evans. By the fourth quarter the defense was gassed which led to that agonizing drive by Trevor Seimmian that clinched the game. BA’s time on the field is done. Someone he respects needs to tell him that.
