Panthers Hammer Saints 22-14

September 25th, 2022

What a wonderful Sunday afternoon it has been (if you block out the Tampa Bay Rays’ ugly loss)!

The slimy Saints were pounded by the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are 1-2.

The Saints now have two losses in the NFC South after falling today 22-14 in Charlotte. Joe watched this game and it wasn’t that close. The Saints scored a touchdown with 2:22 remaining to make it respectable, assuming it’s ever respectable to lose to a Matt Rhule-coached Panthers team.

Carolina won on defense, including the opening touchdown, a first-quarter strip of Alvin Kamara that was recovered and taken to the house. They also blocked a short field goal. Saints QB Jameis Winston threw two picks. He racked up a bunch of second-half yards, but it it didn’t matter.

The Saints are a Marcus Mariota fumble on opening day from being winless.

Regardless, the Bucs will be sitting super pretty if they can beat the Packers this afternoon.

May even be last in division….

Falcons scored on them at will…
Bucs (with many injuries) rolled the Saints…
Panthers (Unable to really get offensive drives going) beat them…

Unless Dalton gives them a spark, the Saints are are worst in the NFC south…

#1 Bucs – great defense, win even with many injuries…
#2 Falcons – scoring well just defense needs to step up…
#3 Panthers – good defense just needs offense to step up…
#4 Saints – Defense is declining, Winston is failing their talented receiving corp, Kamara ( their only weapon) is banged up…

The second pick was with like 8 seconds left in the game and them needing to go 90+ yards for a TD, so he threw it like 40 yards in desperation. It is what it is.

    Glad they’re both 1-2.

Inexcusable and moronic gaff on the 2pt conversion. Todd? Byron? Tom?

    HAINSEY???

When the Saints lose, we usually lose as well

That’s Winston, lots of yards and game losing picks.

Apparently the Saints defense isn’t as mighty as we thought. It might be that it’s really hard replacing 80% of your offensive line with a 4th strong LT, rookie LG, green as grass center, and brand new RG who sure appears to be in decline, along with the top 4 WRs being injured, no Gronk, no Rojo who sucked on third down but he ran hard and was a great complement to Lenny.

    Naa.

Lutz had been one of the best kickers in the NFL – and he misses 2 FGs today? Wow, what did Winston do to the God of special teams to make him so angry at the kid? Literally had the worst kicking game in the NFL the entire time he was here, as well as the worst defense, and now a kicker who had been solid has turned to crud.

BTW, thankfully that’s the case, since the Bucs are going to need to make up a W.
