Packers 14, Buccaneers 12

September 25th, 2022

“Aaron, see you in January.”

Another heroic day for our beloved Bucs defense and another mess from the Tampa Bay offense. Or at least a mess when you’re used to the team averaging about 30 points per game through the past three seasons.

Without Mike Evans, Julio Jones, Chris Godwin and a dangerous tight end, the Bucs offense looked like it did last Sunday in New Orleans: plodding and overwhelmed.

Leonard Fournette had no answers on the ground (12 carries for 35 yards) and playcaller Byron Leftwich looked lacked innovation in his calls. When he did experiment, it was too often messy.

Only two field goals for the first 59 1/2 minutes will get you beat every time.

Damn, the Bucs miss Rob Gronkowski.

How the hell do the Bucs get called for a delay of game on a two-point conversion, after a slight delay for the replay review of the touchdown? Inexcusable.

Great, great stuff from the Bucs defense. Joe can’t split hairs. Holding the Packers to 14 points is a major win.

Huge sack from rookie Logan Hall late in the fourth quarter was special, as was Logan Ryan baiting Aaron Rodgers into an interception. The run defense was stifling, holding the Packers to 25 carries for just 67 yards.

Joe was looking for a bigger game from Devin White, but it wasn’t his day.

Breathe easy, Bucs fans. The Bucs are 2-1 and alone atop the NFC South.

    Great job D.
Sorry the offense couldn’t get it done.

  6. Oxycondoms Says:

Burned timeout with that run lost the game

  7. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’ve seen better offensive football coached gamed than the ones we’ve seen from Byron Suckwich….. CAP!

  8. Colonel Angus Says:

Tough loss. Just have to take it out on the Chiefs next week. Defense stood tall, looks like they are legit this year. Lot of games left.

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Lets hope everybody is back for KC next week. Defense played good 2nd half. Offense just sputtered.

  10. shak_bucs Says:

Oh, so the offense can use injury excuses, but not the decimated defense last season? Yep, that checks out.

  11. Buczilla Says:

    F!

  12. SKBucsFan Says:

Bucs need their receivers back next week. The back ups had a few drops but otherwise played as expected. Once they are back and the defense keeps playing well they could go 16-1. I’ll take that.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Missed Evans and Godwin big time!

  14. beano Says:

The GOAT ain’t making much of a difference put someone else in.

  15. Francisco Guzman Says:

Packers have the tiebreaker now againsh this team. A crappy packers team in transition.

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    The Defense did their jobs……

too bad we have worst Offensive Coordinator in the league.

  17. King C Says:

Mike Evans won the Saints game by getting Lattimore thrown out.
Then Evans loses this game bc he was suspended

  18. Kentucky Buc Says:

I never gripe about Lefty ever. His play calling was horrific. WTF was that??

  19. tampabuscsbro Says:

Can’t be too mad at the win.

You can’t beat that team scoring one TD in 59.75 minutes of football

Skill positions were awful. I wonder how much was negated by fumbles and drops?

Oh also the third string left tackle was bad but it’s a third string left tackle.

  20. Francisco Guzman Says:

This offense was still sputtering even with their top guys. Don’t know why. Anyway this is a lousy L and i don’t trust this coaching staff one bit.

  21. tampabuscsbro Says:

    *****at the loss

  22. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Like the fight !! Just too many out on offense and hope it gives the rookies confidence, but delay of game on a two pointer?? Oh man !! Plus we have no TE threats and Lenny was wide open !!! We didn’t deserve to win and happy to see the D step up and Tom and the offense really owe them an apology!!
Julio and Rudolph were wasted money

  23. Tackleblockwin Says:

Depleted offense finally bits us in the buttocks.

  24. MadMax Says:

We’ll learn from this….its all good.

Hainsey and Brady need to get better at that count. Looked like it was Hainsey taking too long.

Not too bad for a beat up team with injuries and a lot of backups, AND a new WR in Cole.

Get a lot of rest guys….KC will be playing hard next week.

  25. BUCkleup Says:

2 offensive touchdowns in 3 weeks. Disgusting. Defense left to rot. Maybe we can sign Dez Bryant too?

  26. Surfslowson Says:

The delay of game was inexcusable, that was a walk in 2-pt conversion.

  27. Gus Says:

    What a Dumpster fire.

  28. Francisco Guzman Says:

Bucs will face better teams than the packers. This team came out too flat. I have seen that so many teams with this team. Look unprepared.

  29. Oxycondoms Says:

Inexcusable was not the delay of game it was burning a timeout running it with fournette

  30. ElioT Says:

    Bryon is a bum

  31. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Here’s how BAD Byron Suckwich did….

    * He kept on calling on SLOW Lenny for losses on runs

    * He tried a receiver screen without Chris Godwin?

    * Why in the hell would you run the ball with SLOW Lenny when you’re down 14-3?

……I can keep on going on and on…… but this loss is 100% on a bad play calling day by Byron Suckwich.

  32. EA Says:

Team Looked disorganized AT HOME during that 2 point conversion, inexcusable, what happened to Kyle Rudolph after that one catch ?

  33. Will Says:

It wasn’t Leftwich fumbling before the half we come away with at least 3 there and then to start the 2nd half with a fumble by Gage. Fournette looks gased need to get Sneak in there for a change of pace. Hate we loss but with our backups in all over the place I’m excited to see what we look like when healthy. Although I think Julio is a waste of a roster spot.

  34. Kody Says:

Slow start to get going, we SUCKED in that first half.

Injuries. We are masterful at those.

Penalties. They killed us. Especially the final delay of game one.

Fumbles. At least 2 critical game changing fumbles. Killed us.

Poor play calling. So many 3rd and longs with short passes. And of course the infamous up-the-gut calls everyone knows are coming and groan at.

OTHER THAN THOSE THINGS, though, it was a great game.

  35. Show Me the TDs Says:

That loss is on Brady. How the eff can you be as old as he is and play as long as he has and let the clock run out on a 2 point conversion?

  36. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Oh and Byron is a joke and don’t understand how he can be looked as a head coach ?? Also Evans who already knew how bad the injuries were mad a stupid and selfish decision !! Be better and hope the Boys bounce back

  37. George Says:

Given the players we had available he team did a good job against a tough Packer squad . Let’s beat The Chiefs now.

  38. Daryl Green Says:

FN Byron, Fn bowels told my wife that son of a 🤬 cost against the Rams.
I telling u fans if you go back and watch the game, he Hackett ish. ( broncos )
It’s long Season, I get I played ball watch ball. That makes my heart hurt, that’s garbage coaching. Seriously Tommy je

  39. Jack Sparrow Says:

Thank God this is not the playoff. No damage. Bucs just need to continue to get healthy and learn frim the mistakes

  40. CrackWise Says:

    Only need 17

  41. Maniac Buc Says:

We should all agree that Scotty Miller should never wear a Bucs uniform again…

  42. alton d green Says:

Hey dildo, I mean Beano says. go outside and sit on the porch. we will let you know when you can play with the big boys

  43. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Show me because Russell Gage got hammered and took to dang long, but rookie center and rookie LT

  44. Maniac Buc Says:

Dude can’t catch a pass or a pitch. SMH.

  45. Francisco Guzman Says:

This team still has a very tough schedule and they’re losing games to teams like the packers at home. This is a bad L.

  46. Leopold Stotch Says:

Not happy at all. Gonna be a rough week

  47. Kody Says:

Not having Evans killed us. So the Saints got their revenge AGAIN. Somehow the Saints beat us even when they lose.

  48. CrackWise Says:

Reminded me of the RAMS game TBH

  49. godlovesbucs Says:

Receivers hurt this game big time. Didn’t know what to do, lots of drops, 2 fumbles…

  50. Bucsfan13 Says:

We wouldn’t have been in the position to win if Brady didn’t lead the team to a 90 yard TD. The play calling and turnovers hurt us.

  51. tampabuscsbro Says:

Why are people so mad at bowles?

The defense held Rodgers to 14 points when he had that many possessions.

  52. Kody Says:

Could have been on of the greatest come-back games in Bucs history.

But, nah, delay of game penalty.

    WTF!?

  53. BUCkleup Says:

Waste of talent today. Bunch of chips that didn’t cash. Hope they take pride moving forward. We look soft on O. Like sOft.

  54. JimmyJack Says:

This game outta represent a kick in the ass out offense needs. Im watching this team now 2 years get 2-3 scores down against any great offensive opponent. Waited 3 hours today for Brady to answer back Green Bay. I expect better and been expected better for last 2 seasons. Not having no excuses neither.

  55. MadMax Says:

We’ll have Evans back next week, and hopefully Donavan too….we just might pull out a 3-1 for our first four.

  56. Purplepirate Says:

“Leftwich fumbling before the half we come away with at least 3 there”

That 3 wins us the game.

  57. Buc50 Says:

Scooter sucks. No impact at all.

  58. Ash Says:

Obviously would want the win but once we get Mike Chris and Julio back this team is going to be a lot different. Keep your heads up kings it’s a long season go bucs.

  59. HC Grover Says:

The Bowles prevent offense is born. He will prevent Brady from winning at all costs.
Now Brady has to listen to his wife ‘I told you so’. This prevent offense is a new game plan never before attempted.
Maybe Bowles thinks it is not fair for us to have GOAT?

  60. OrlandoBucFan Says:

We are a heavy weight fighter with one hand tied behind our back. I saw a lot of fight today and a stout defense for three quarters. Game three is in the books, but our arrow is pointing up.

  61. Jack Sparrow Says:

Funny, bucs tried to do a special play and scotty messed it up. Are these guys taking practice seriously ?

  62. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

When you don’t trust your own o line and receivers to catch it what can Leftwich really do? Dudes dropping passes, fumbling and not getting open like you clowns can do better. We are missing 3 huge play makers and you all think he’s supposed to squeeze blood out of a turnip. Some of you have an agenda against Bowles because he did something to this defense in the 2nd half and you clowns still call him an idiot. You give Brady all the praise in a win but hate Bowles and Leftwich when we lose like you clowns can do better

  63. Kody Says:

    Tampabucsbro –

Did you see the first half??? The Packers steamrolled our D like they were a lousy high school team. YEAH, the D finally got their shat together, but after giving up 14 easy points. AND ALMOST 21 easy points.

  64. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bucs beating Bucs……usually it’s the QB who is in charge of the snap timing…..don’t know if he called for it and didn’t get it or didn’t call for it early enough…..doesn’t really matter….

Our ST played very well…..punter was great….Succop 100%

  65. jehzsa Says:

So many dropped balls that all of them should get a gameball.

    But they’ll probably drop it.

  66. cmurda Says:

Those of you that wish can defend Byron but I will point out that the only time we had any success is when TOM BRADY ran the offense in the hurry up. Both drives had success. No other drives did. Having BL run this offense is wasting away another great defensive performance.. I think Todd was outstanding as his defense was light’s out after halftime adjustments. Shout out to Todd for again fine tuning the defense for the 2nd half. It was outstanding.

  67. Goatwatcher Says:

Is this space reserved for morons? Brady lost his 3 top receivers, up against an excellent defense that didn’t make mistakes, threw for almost 300 yards, no pics, and finished with a classic drive the length of the field for a touchdown. That was the GOAT in person, morons. The delay was on an inexperienced backup.

  68. ChiBuc Says:

Felt Todd did a good job, adjusting D managing clock/timeouts. BL sux! Has always called lame predictable games, and when he doesn’t have top shelf personnel (eg Gronk) at his disposal his suckiness glares like a beacon.

I sure am looking fwd to all of the TB12 apologists and excuses on the way. The GOAT is a RAT (really average talent) so far this yr. You can cry about injuries, but YAC is low (other than blown defenses), slow reads, and that delay of game was rookie as h3ll. At least he didn’t turn it over this week

  69. Yucs2Bucs Says:

That should have been an easy Dub against a not very good Pack team, but my biggest concern is seeing Brady get thrown around ( never seen that ) and I hope he makes it through the entire season. Love the fight, but that L is on Byron, but also Evans !! Made the same mistake back in 2018 I think and yes he’s amazing, but knowing Julio is a joke and CG isn’t ready he chose to get suspended? Hope they learn and here come the Chiefs 😳 3-0 to maybe 2-2, but GO BUCS !!

  70. DBS Says:

Anthem go back into hiding. You only show up when we lose a game anyway.
It’s 1 loss. The Packers may be happy with the win but can’t be happy with what happened with their offense either.

  71. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Before we lose our collective minds, please remember no Evans, no Godwin, no Jones, no Donovan Smith. We will be better. We almost pulled this game out of our collective As$es…..

  72. adam from ny Says:

looks like aaron rodgers got a haircut from moishe cheesebaum in willamsburg, brooklyn 🙂

    #HassidicHairdo

  73. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Horrible offense and play calling. Bucs only have one RB, no TEs and today no WRs thanks to Evans. Julio Jones is washed up as well as Hicks. Godwin is eternally injured. Bucs need Gronk back asap! Oline was also struggling today.

  74. adam from ny Says:

ok so walton clearly didn’t look like the star back up as he did last week

  75. lambchop Says:

We missed Mike Evans out there.

  76. adam from ny Says:

is anyone else clearly sick of the fact that most targets going to scotty miller (ever since he has been here) go for incompletions

  77. Dooley Says:

From the mouth of The Goat himself: “can’t score points points if we’re not executing well” it makes these “fire Leftwich” comments even funnier. This loss is on the players, particularly on offense, Brady included. Still plenty of football left, but it’s wild the roles reverse compared to last year battling injuries on one side of the ball and it’s leading to incomplete games and missed opportunities. Our defense gave a few scoring drives up, but did a hell of a job getting off the field on a lot of 3rd down situations throughout the midway point of this game.

  78. jehzsa Says:

I miss the good ol’ days of Lovie Smith…

  79. Duane Says:

The sky is always falling. Our receiving core is lacking, and our protection is not up to speed. Bowles has no say over the offense, so stop embarrassing yourselves. Leftwich is not the only one with a say in the playcalling. The Goat can change the offense out of a play he does not like. He has poor rapport with the current guys. Defense still balling out. Lets try again next week. 3-1 is still possible to start the season and we would have taken it with a fully healthy team.

  80. Bucamania Says:

Can’ t blame Leftwich except for the ill-timed flea flicker.

Oline struggled all day and the backup WRs looked like practice squad guys. Brate looked a little better but TE is a major hole.

  81. DoooshLaRue Says:

    DBBF98,
Dudes dropping passes, fumbling and not getting open like you clowns can do better.
    _______

It’s the post game freak out and those guys dropping passes and fumbling are PAID PROFESSIONALS.
    We’re fans…… there’s a difference.

  82. Jack Sparrow Says:

I’m just frustrated with our so called big weapons. one hit and they break. What ever happened to TB12 pliablility stuff? I thought evrybody is doing it.

  83. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

The thing that you all chumps miss is that the Bucs didn’t give up not the defense not offense we just didn’t execute properly and the Pack defense had something to do with it but also fumbles and dropped passes did us in but yeah blame all that on the coaches

  84. David Says:

Evans, Jones , & Gage will all be playing next week. Hopefully Donovan Smith will return as well… Godwin shortly after that.
Walton is horrendous. Although I don’t know if he’s much worse than Wells.

The offense will be fine. Can’t stand the people on here constantly complaining about playcalling. It’s not the playcalling.
They have a bunch of fourth and fifth string receivers who don’t know where to line up and a 3rd string LT, what exactly did you expect?

  85. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Dooley So Leftwich takes no blame? Brady will never throw a coach or player under the bus. You have never once criticized Leftwich.

  86. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Cmurda Thank you! Brady was cooking when the ball was in his hands. How the hell can people blame a man that competed nearly 70% of his passes to that crop of receivers. The only bad play was that bad sack he took. He should’ve thrown it away.

This man put the team in a position to win with a flawless 85 yard drive. Leftwich has skated. Not one reporter has questioned Bowles on the play calling sequencing.

  87. Hunter's Crack Pipe Says:

    HC Grover Says:
“The Bowles prevent offense is born.”
    .
    .

Not really fair. But still made me laugh.

  88. Hunter's Crack Pipe Says:

    adam from ny Says:
“looks like aaron rodgers got a haircut from moishe cheesebaum in Williamsburg , Brooklyn.”
    .
    .

    LOL

  89. Dooley Says:

    @David

Yea, the calls about the play calling are just guys saying what they THINK is wrong, because I can assure you there’s a select few that frequent this site that actually know the concepts we run out of all the personnel packages we use and that’s evidence by the folks who weep & moan about “runs up the gut”. What gets lost in all that, is actual observation, a lot of theses plays would work “better” if our OL got push when we need a single yard, if drops aren’t made, if we’re not looking to score our first TD after 57 minutes of game time. Coaches call plays, players execute them, you can’t really blame one for the other failing, not with this offense through 3 games.

  90. FiRELEFTBI*CH Says:

The worst play calling I have ever seen in my life.

Fire Leftbi*ch immediately and give it to Bruce to manage.

  91. Dooley Says:

    Lmao @Bucsfan13

Why don’t you go wait to hear from the analyst who are smarter than me lol outside of suiting up and being our backup, what MORE do you want Leftwich to do? We’ve had 2 games we’ve gone heavy on the run, and this past game where we tried being as past heavy as Bucs offenses of the recent past? Guess what same lackluster effort that looks like a team having a heads time dealing with injuries and shooting themselves in their own foot. Should we run the wing-t from here on out? Do we go to a single read pass system? Do you want us to run the option with a 45 year old QB? Would that satiate your disdain for our bread in butter between the tackles? Do you even know what Leftwich is accountable for to even rationally place proper blame at his feet? Lol

  92. Bucsfan13 Says:

31-42, TD. Yes, that’s totally the problem. The sequencing is off with this offense. I don’t understand why fans can’t understand this issue. And Brady can’t just alert out of every play. Would you like for him to go rogue? Why do we even have an OC if that’s what fans want

  93. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Dooley. Once again, can you offer any criticism of the OC? The QB, WRs, and OL are shouldering most of the blame.

  94. Crickett Baker Says:

NO INJURIES! YAY. There is another thing to be happy about. I was a big Scotty fan, but he really blew it in this game. JTS did a few good things. I didn’t even see Aaron sweat. They beat us–in fact, their defense was better than ours, too.

  95. DrunkinYbor Says:

The offense us Missing donating badly. It’s called Bucco Bruce he must be going crazy watching the mighty Mollases unit if the the 2022 Bucs. Leftwich needs to have a sit down with the old man and get his cajones back. The following is just FYI
Cajones is defined as are a large set of balls. When someone does a ballsy move. If you have cajones it means you are being risk-taking.

  96. DrunkinYbor Says:

My fingers are to big forbthis tiny damn phone. Please excuse my terrible writing errors above. GO BUCS

  97. Bucschamp Says:

Right now we have no reliable offensive player. This and a weak left side Oline is not gonna cut it

  98. Dooley Says:

    @Bucsfan13

I’m not into irrationally lashing out and placing blame on hand picked scapegoats. Everybody sucked today on offense, from Leftwich to Walton, BUT I also can’t really critique play calling because our offense is struggling for lack of preparation, there’s a talent vacuum at a lot of different position and we’re clearly no operating optimally. I’m not going to just pull some empty Leftwich gripe when there’s plenty of Leftwichs job I’m not privy too. I’m sorry bud, I clearly don’t watch these games on the same frequency as you lol

  99. Kody Says:

IMAGINE HAVING BET ON THE BUCS AT -2.5.

Damn odds-makers are so good at figuring the line.

  100. JimmyJack Says:

If you looked at that offense today and think its as simple as playcalling you must have been dropped on the head as a baby. Dooley is right……..this is bigger then a single issue.

I know yall love an easy scapgoat but when its 59 minutes of 0 TD offense its just not that simple.

  101. Brent Clark Says:

Hey what I see is defenses are getting better across the league a lot more close games and low scoring games. So our biggest problem is injury, that will mead itself in due time, what the Bucs need to do, is be the BEST defense in the league. So far, with healthy players we got a great chance when our offense gets all healed up for the post season… question is if the Bucs can stay ahead enough for this to happen.

  102. LenFilcher Says:

what do you expect? They have no receivers. Not a big deal right now.

  103. D-Rok Says:

I was hoping for a win, of course, but really didn’t expect it. What team will be lazer-sharp on O when their top 3 WR’s are out AND with virtually a brand-new O-line from last year?

Wasn’t a great game by the O, too many mistakes by several players, mostly made by back-ups.

The D got gashed early by quick throws, but what team doesn’t? Holding GB to 14 was a good job by D.

Scoring only 12 is never gonna get it done. It might take more than a few more weeks for the O to get humming, but they will.

  104. Carl L Says:

Our guys can catch Brady’s ball….it’s just it makes their knees buckle? Perhaps our guys should focus on keeping their feet when they catch the ball. We had the usual drops. Our defense had another great game. They are really good when they don’t play “ prevent defense “. Don’t worry guys, we gonna win the nfc south.
