Noted Handicapper Expects Defensive Battle

September 29th, 2022

Defense rules.

Warren Sharp has made a nice living for himself as a handicapper turned stat head turned media analyst. Joe enjoys Sharp’s in-depth analysis.

And in Sharp’s eyes, anyone expecting the Chiefs-Bucs game to be a shootout may want to check themselves. Why is that? Sharp gave a few reasons.

Pat Mahomes lighting up the Bucs? Unlikely, he said.

“This is the most difficult defense the Kansas City Chiefs will have gone up against this season,” Sharp said. And Sharp thought the Bucs defense played strong enough to win last week’s game with the Packers.

“The defense played significantly better in that football game” after the Packers put up 14 points.

The Chiefs struggling since taking advantage of a bad defense in Arizona is telling, Sharp added.

“The Chiefs offense had that explosion against the Cardinals who had the second-worst defense and after that … not a high output,” Sharp said. “I just think the Chiefs offense is going to run into problems with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense.”

But Sharp cautioned the Kansas City defense is underrated and the Bucs should struggle.

“The Chiefs can slow down rushing attacks and what are the Bucs trying to do?” Sharp rhetorically asked.

Sharp found it disturbing the Bucs could not get Playoff Lenny rolling against what Sharp said is a kitten-soft run defense of the Packers.

So you short-term investors looking for Sharp’s wagering advice on this game? Sharp said if your short-term investment broker can find an over/under of 44.5 or more, hammer the under.

I think what would be good with all these handicappers and that terrible cynthia frelund predictions is to show readers how often they are right than not? the whole NFL network frelund model is ridiculous because they never show what actually happened prior which would give more credibility.

We almost beat the packers without our starting LT and top 3 receivers. We are good. I bet we beat the chiefs.

  5. Joe another Bucs fan Says:

They looked pretty pedestrian last week. Was a tough game to watch. A win will be big at many levels.

    I know this one!

Why do so many fans seemingly think Godwin is playing this week?

We’ve heard nothing of that sort. And he has a hammy. Those are usually 3 – 4 weeks at minimum. I would be shocked if he plays Sunday night.

  8. ClwJB Says:

ME13 alone means we win last week, with he and JJ we should be just fine

BTW Justin Watson is doing quite well with the chiefs

  9. Old School Bucs Says:

If the Bucs run the ball more outside instead of down the throat I think that will open a lot of things. Particularly they might develop a running game!
