“He’s Not Here”

September 9th, 2022

“Hey Gronk, would you do me a favor and do a press conference in Tampa so those guys quit asking me about you?”

It seems Tom Brady may have reached his limit on fielding questions about his old friend, tight end foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski.

Yes, Gronk retired, but both his agent and girlfriend don’t believe him. So Bucs fans have not closed the door on his return. Well, many fans, anyway.

Brady was asked yesterday replacing Gronk and he said you don’t replace him. The Bucs will try a tight end/receiver by committee to replace Gronk’s attributes and catches.

Brady punctuated his answer by adding about Gronk, “He’s not here.” Joe sensed Brady sort of thought asking about Gronk was disrespectful in some way to the tight ends the Bucs have on the roster. Understandable.

Shortly afterward, Brady was asked another Gronk question, basically if he thought Gronk has enough juice left in him to change his mind about retirement.

“I don’t want to talk about Gronk every week at the end of the day for him,” Brady politely replied, cutting off the reporter’s question. “He makes his decision. We are going to go out there and play football and try to do a great job.

“So, regardless if Gronk is out there at that position — which he’s not this year the other guys will do a great job.”

But Brady basically invited questions about Gronk. Prior to his press conference Thursday, Brady took part in a campy video skit produced and distributed by the Bucs in which he sort of teased fans by appearing in the video with — Guess who? — Gronk!

You know, if you don’t want to field questions about Gronk — and Joe totally gets why he wouldn’t want to — then why stir the pot by doing fan videos with Gronk?

It is simple, that is his business to get more view. Brady is a focused guy when playing, so he is a different person when talking about football.

IF Gronk was going to stay retired, he would already have a ‘gig’ with one of the networks.

Media is useful to Tom and Gronk as well as others to promote their agenda

I guess as a fan I’m kinda sick of it as well if he is here then he is but he isn’t time to move on and let go. There are alot of interesting things to consider with people actually on the roster.

I am also sure that video skit with gronk was filmed many weeks to even months ago.

Media has to stop asking about Gronk . He’s gone

The new Tight End room is well positioned to compete

    Enough talk… let’s play!!

I am tired of all the speculation and pearl-clutching fans.
    All will be known shortly.

This is a legit roster! If we stay healthy we will be fine.

    Said, all contenders…

That skit Brady did was hilarious. And now, I know that Brady is trilingual.

  10. David Says:

I agree with him but he did bring that on himself by making that video and it happened to coincide with the Bucs freeing up cap space.

Regardless, it is beyond time to talk about the team and the game Sunday night, not hypotheticals

I’d rather spend the money on an O-Line addition than on Gronk. Unless he wants to come back and play guard 🙂

The answer Brady gave should be his standard response. The rule with the Patriots was don’t talk about people not in the building. That stupid skit Brady did, does invite the question though. If you don’t want to talk about Gronk, then stop mentioning him Tom, it’s that simple.

From the linked video, Tom recommends Gronk get a “Phoenix rising from the ashes” tattoo. Funny symbolism there–related to “Ordo Ab Chao.”

Four days later. Can he play tackle? Another 40-45 lbs and he would be a very underweight tackle, but has shown that he can handle defensive ends at 260. Unfortunately, I think blocking bothers his back more than the hits from safeties do.
