Buccaneers 20, Saints 10

September 18th, 2022

Hex broken!

The slugfest is over and Joe is exhausted — and exhilarated.

Our beloved Buccaneers have emerged as the bad-boy bruisers of the NFC South while Saints hate across the Tampa Bay area has reached a new and glorious level.

What a game! Joe thought it was 1997 or 1999 for a stretch before Tom Brady emerged with a home run strike to Breshad Perriman for the winning score in the fourth quarter.

Joe hopes all of Bucs nation is appreciating a special, special Bucs defense. The secondary has been ferocious for two consecutive games, nearly freakin’ perfect. And the pass rush has been strong. Nine quarterback hits, six sacks and three interceptions of Jameis Winston today were incredibly glorious.

Logan Ryan has been one hell of an addition, and it’s going to be damn hard to beat the Bucs if the defense stays healthy. Devin White and Lavonte David have lived up to the hype.

Jameis, of course, is the gift that keeps on giving, and it could have been worse for New Orleans.

Joe’s got a giant game ball for third-string left tackle Brandon Walton, who came in for backup Josh Wells (injured calf) and held up pretty damn strong. The Bucs’ run game fell apart, but largely Tom Brady was well protected. Brady was hit three times after only four last week against Dallas.

The Bucs have a lot of work to do yet are still 2-0 after beating two good teams — on the road. Joe couldn’t ask for more right now and it feels so damn good.

Bring on the Packers!!!

  1. Tampamac Says:

Walton was a God-send today. That could’ve been disastrous. I think he’s at least earned a 2nd team designation because he looks light years better than Wells.

  2. Buc Unto Death Says:

There’s the old Jameis we knew. Tough to win games when your putting up points for both teams!

  3. Francisco Guzman Says:

Game is far from over. Bucs better not get cute here.

  4. Beeej Says:

WHO was it disagreeing with my expert commentary that JW hasn’t had to win a game with his arm yet?

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Just as a note, when all you ladies were panicking at half-time, I was the one that said calm down, it’s a 3 point game, we got them right where we wanted it.

  6. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Dang Rod ?? 100 post, but can someone please let us know what’s Evans status is next week

  7. Jack Sparrow Says:

OLine played good enough to stop the Saints Dline. I’ll give them B

  8. Rod Munch Says:

Yucs2Bucs – It hasn’t been announced, how would anyone know yet?

  9. Austin Lewis Says:

Best defense in the league, by far, called it

  10. cmurda Says:

Let the game end first Joe. Closing the Game thread a little early.

  11. SteveK Says:

    Perriman had it.

  12. Jack Sparrow Says:

Ok, good game. Time to focus on the Packers

  13. SteveK Says:

    Kick some points. Baby!

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Why are we kicking a super long FG? Being up 10 or 13 makes no difference. Just punt the ball.

  15. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Rod did he throw a punch ? The wifey and I are driving back and listening to it on the radio, so didn’t see

  16. SteveK Says:

    Career long alert!

  17. cmurda Says:

What do you mean by his status? He seemed pretty healthy when he took on 3 Saints

  18. Francisco Guzman Says:

    Brutal!!!!!!

  19. unbelievable Says:

    Gage sucks

  20. SteveK Says:

Pin these taints at their goal line and let’s get a safety!

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Good punt, let’s get a safety here, or another pick-6.

  22. Jack Sparrow Says:

    Saints fumble … hahahhahahahbaa

  23. Francisco Guzman Says:

This defense has to show up her. Stop giving them cushion.

  24. cmurda Says:

It wasn’t really a punch. I’ve seen far more not disciplined. I don’t see Mike facing discipline further for that but I guess the Not Fun League could do it.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Ground can’t cause a fumble, so Saints are keeping that.

How are you letting guys get behind you there? Ugh.

  26. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Is Mike Evans going to get suspended after getting thrown out ?

  27. Rod Munch Says:

Yucs2Bucs — It was just announced he’s been suspended for a year. Tough break.

  28. SteveK Says:

    This would be huge

  29. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Cmurda thanks !! Good to hear and sounds
Like Brady played like crap most of the game, but just heard Tua brought the fins back .. Roll Tide

  30. unbelievable Says:

Carlton Davis just got lucky AF lol

  31. SteveK Says:

    Lol munch!

  32. Rod Munch Says:

    WOW, really?

  33. Boltsfan17 Says:

The lack of playmakers on offense coupled with awful play calling is simply killing any chance to be explosive. The O line belongs in the USFL.

  34. JimbobBucfan Says:

Bucs win! Bucs win! Bucs win!

    SAINT’S STREAK IS OVER!

  35. SteveK Says:

    Woohoo

  36. Rod Munch Says:

WOW, since when can the ground cause a fumble? I mean I’ll take it, but wow. Glad to see the Glazers finally got their VENMO payment in.

  37. cmurda Says:

Actually just a push by Mike. No way can he get suspended.

  38. Jack Sparrow Says:

Mike Evans is a beast!! Luv Me13

  39. SteveK Says:

    Score one more

  40. Francisco Guzman Says:

Don’t know how the bucs let the rookie get open like that. Bucs very fortunate.

  41. cmurda Says:

@Rod. Since he wasn’t touched. The ground can cause a fumble if you haven’t been touched. If Carlton had touched him and he hit the ground and fumbled, it would be down by contact.

  42. Francisco Guzman Says:

This offense has to get better execution wise.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t care if Evans gets suspended or not, he single handedly changed this game, fired up the team, who knew they were getting screwed on every single call before that. After that, it was all different.

  44. SteveK Says:

Mike Evans won us this game.

  45. Kwame Richardson, Sr. Says:

Ohhh, how sweet it is. Go Bucs.

  46. jasmin loutra loura Says:

I don’t care if Evans gets suspended or not, he single handedly changed this game, fired up the team, who knew they were getting screwed on every single call before that. After that, it was all different.

  47. SteveK Says:

    What munch said.

  48. HC Grover Says:

    Agree Walton played well

  49. cmurda Says:

Game ball Mike Evans. What a beast! Coming in there ready to throw down and who wants to throw down with 6’5″ Mike Evans in pristine shape. Not me.

  50. SDbucsFan Says:

Watching Jamies eat the L is so satisfying. Go Bucs!

  51. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

So glorious to see the Aints lose by the anxious and inconsistent play of J Winston.

    ———–

I can’t believe I didn’t know that. I had the audio off so I missed any explanation, but always just head the ground can’t cause a fumble. Well, good to know!

  53. JimbobBucfan Says:

Who just said “Looking good for the Bucs!” 😋 An understatement? 😎

    “Mean Gene”?

    Go Bucs!

    Five take-aways.

  54. Jack Sparrow Says:

I dont think they’ll score anymore. They are already in protect your health mode

  55. Yucs2Bucs Says:

Can’t wait for Lamar Jackson to be a Buc next year !!! Glad they ended the streak and now heading back to Tampa, but Go Bucs and thank you Jamies for being Jamies

  56. Fairminded Says:

Hmmm mighty quiet from all those mouthy Nawlins fans….

  57. Alvafan Says:

They keep picking on Davis. Nobody on the Saints are scared of him

  58. Natron Says:

    Like Jameis said “Them losses”

  59. Fairminded Says:

    Thanks Jameis! Preciate you!

  60. HC Grover Says:

    Please put a safety deep

  61. Tampamac Says:

@rod- It can’t if you’re contacted as you’re down once you touch earth. But uncontacted, the play is still alive as you haven’t been touched by an opposing player.

  62. Rod Munch Says:

Let’s stay behind the WRs on this one…

  63. Jack Sparrow Says:

    eat your L finger JayMiss

  64. Rod Munch Says:

Tampamac – yeah, that’s new to me, I had never heard that before somehow.

WOW, since when can the ground cause a fumble?

In the NFL… Always… As long as the player is not touched on the way down.

  66. Tampamac Says:

Sorry for the redundancy Rod. Apparently I type too slow.. Lol

  67. CrackWise Says:

Get use to it Saints fans.

If you really want the full JW experience than he will get you a TD right here to make the game, look close and his numbers not so bad. LMFAO

  68. Francisco Guzman Says:

They need Godwin and julio back. Anyway they play the packers at home next week i believe. A game they should win.

  69. Alvafan Says:

Can’t beat the Saints straight up. Bucs have to have big turnover advantage

  70. shak_bucs Says:

He hehe he got em, finally!

  71. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Evans, as usual, won the game for us.

  72. BucU Says:

In a word I’m just thankful.

  73. JimbobBucfan Says:

BUCS WIN! BUCS WIN! BUCS WIN!

  74. Jack Sparrow Says:

Sorry for your Loss Slimy Aints… we’ll pray for you.. hahahahahahha

  75. Dooley Says:

What’s that 6 sacks? 5 turnovers? Jameis helped us score just as many points as he scored for New Orleans?

  76. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Ding dong, the witch is dead.

  77. Francisco Guzman Says:

Alvafan the heck you talking about? Bucs where missing a lot of key pieces and the refs where allowing them to get away with holding on our wideouts. Get a clue!!!!

  78. Buc4evr Says:

Eat S**t and die filthy cheating saints.

  79. Rod Munch Says:

Do a fake knee and throw a bomb and run the score up.

  80. HC Grover Says:

    Stainks LOSE!!!!!

  81. Buc4evr Says:

Thanks Jameis. The gift that keeps giving. Lol.

  82. Howard Cosell Says:

Todd Bowles (TB’s) defense is just sick

  83. Rod Munch Says:

They had better give the game ball to Evans in the locker room. I want to see that footage.

  84. Francisco Guzman Says:

Impressed with our defense early. Gotta keep it up. Play aggressive.

  85. Howard Cosell Says:

    Dearest Saints Fans,
    Congratulations on signing Jameis Winston
    Best Regards,
    Howard

  86. Bob in valrico Says:

Damn, i thought I was watching a hockey game. ME13 the enforcer. That Melee got the Bucs fired up. I gotta give it up the defense . They never panicked and Jamel Dean played his his best game as a Buc ,IMO.

  87. orlbucfan Says:

It’s obvious: one of the weakest links on this team is the fossil. No more bellyaching about the OLine. BL has got to get off this fixation with running up the middle on first down. This is gigantic the way the Defense played. Looked very similar to coach Dungy’s great D.

  88. Buc4evr Says:

5 turnovers. Hope you guys are glad Jameis is a saint.

  89. Jack Sparrow Says:

wow! Evans shades full of Bling bling!!!

  90. Dooley Says:

    @Rod

Go get your football IQ up you simp

  91. BucsBro Says:

Bucs have Super Bowl caliber defense if healthy.

Just tune up the offense, and try to bring Gronk in for the stretch.

The game plan today is exactly how you beat the Saints. Forget “No Risk It, No Biscuit”. Run sets up the pass, play action, and short passing game. Then let Jameis implode.

Saints just want to rush the passer. Take that from them and their defense gets a lot more ordinary.

  92. Natron Says:

    Hello Andy Dalton

  93. Buc4evr Says:

    Refs couldn’t even save Jameis.

  94. Devinwhiteshorse2 Says:

Taints got punched in the mouth lol you should’ve been talking ish *in my katt williams voice lol GO BUCS!!

  95. Richard Dickson Says:

Except the Bucs have never won a Super Bowl in a season where we beat the Saints in the regular season.

  96. Howard Cosell Says:

PLayoff Lenny had blood on his shoulder pads.
The guy runs like a mad Rhinoceous

  97. Rod Munch Says:

Dooley – Unlike yourself, I’m open to learning new information and admitting when I’m wrong.

  98. SOFIERCE Says:

    Just Win baby!!!! Go Bucs!!!

  99. Alvafan Says:

Francisco. No way they win that game with our the turnovers

  100. Howard Cosell Says:

Bowles D is terrifying 31 other offenses right now

  101. Alvafan Says:

    Excuse me “their turnovers “

  102. Bucschamp Says:

    Build Jameis a statue!

But seriously this defense is awesome. Secondary fantastic

    Now Brady surely misses gronk

  103. SOFIERCE Says:

The first part of the Brady New Orleans sweep has concluded!

  104. RustyRhinos Says:

    Yuckstobucs, Go Dawgs!!

  105. Howard Cosell Says:

Captain, we are happy to report that the Death Star has been destroyed

  106. Francisco Guzman Says:

Alvafans you’re clueless. They where stopping Winston before the turnovers! We where up 10-3.

  107. Dooley Says:

    @HowardCosell

    LMAO!!!!

  108. Howard Cosell Says:

    Buc4evr Says:

    Refs couldn’t even save Jameis.

That’s the sweetest part. Even with obviously bribed refs the Saints couldn’t win.
    Bowles D was a machine

  109. SlyPirate Says:

    SECRET TO NFL FOOTBALL

More NFL games are lost, rather than won. “Whoever wins the turnover battle usually wins the game.” This seams to be Bowles’ philosophy in the first two games, and it works because the defense is so good.

  110. DBS Says:

    ^ This

  112. Howard Cosell Says:

    Lenny just don’t care bro.
He was a clock eating machine and a defensive line grinding wheel

  113. gotbbucs Says:

Jameis “Herpes” Winston. The gift that keeps on giving.

  114. DBS Says:

    SaintsFan59 is awful quiet!!

  115. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Alvafan

What a dumb a$$ take. Turnovers are a huge part of ANY football game.

  116. Buc king Says:

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuc the saints…..let’s goooooop
Bucs win bucs win bucs winnnmnm

  117. George Says:

Bucs defense played well. Thanks Jameis Winston .

Offense played conservatively and was able to hang in there long enough to get some points .

Now we have to see what happens with todays injuries

Hopefully Julio can come back ready to go next week

  118. T REX Says:

nice win…the fight really pumped us up

  119. orlbucfan Says:

This defense stays healthy, it will be scarily good just like Dungy’s. The OLine looked good, too. The worse parts were BL’s 1st down run up the middle and the fossil called a QB.

  120. Ash Says:

Need to clean up all those dropped passes

  121. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

I think Walton played better than Wells… He has better technique but didn’t seem as strong

  122. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The wide receiver backups of the backups dropped too many passes 😉

  123. Jameisgirl1 Says:

Refs decided that one.. 2 phantom penalties after saints hold on 3rd down??? Congrats on another super bowl this year!! Brady is the goat for getting Lattimore ejected because Evans doesn’t show up for Saints.. best play he has ever had against them was getting Lattimore thrown out… Enjoy… Jameis will haunt y’all when Brady is done

  124. Bucsfaninva Says:

Did anyone notice in the telecast… when they showed Tom Brady walking into the tunnel to the locker room…there was Mike Evan’s…you could tell he said “I got you man!”. Never was so happy to see Mike lose his mind (for all the right reasons!). Horribly officiated game, but when isn’t it with the Aints? Defense was amaze balls!

  125. Aaron Says:

But like said before with only 0ne touchdown old Shady brady won’t be winning much and say bye bye to mikie Mike for awhile lol

  126. Alvafan Says:

You’re crazy Francisco. Bucs player punched the ball out of Ingrams hands in the red zone when it was still 3-3

  127. Buczilla Says:

Awesome win! Defense played like the one that we had in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s and that monkey got firmly thrown off our back.

  128. David Says:

I hate when people say the defense didn’t play well, they got lucky with turnovers… That’s part of playing defense. Creating turnovers.
Five takeaways, three of them the defense made happen.

Then there is the pressure they are getting with four or five guys.
    It’s been fantastic.

With the O line troubles in GB, I expect them to have a lot of tight coverage to get after A-Aron next week

  129. Mayhem41 Says:

Lol Alvafan, You are clueless, seriously.
