Tom Brady Has The Best Touch

August 23rd, 2022

Still has golden arm.

So the four-letter decided to go into their quarterback lab and find the best QB with all sorts of different traits.

Yeah, Dolphins Raiders Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is listed several times in this piece. One element that jumped out at Joe is Brady’s touch on passes, as typed by Field Yates.

Best of the best: Tom Brady’s preparation and ability to diagnose a defense before the snap are second to none, and one of the trickle-down impacts of that is a surreal ability to anticipate pass windows. He can throw the strikes. But what stands out is how well he gets the ball to where it has to be — on the exact line or with the exact loft needed.

That is one thing noticeable from Brady, outside of his lightning-quick release. When Brady has to lob a pass in, he has the touch. And the old man can still rare back and find that ol’ fastball of his when needed. Virtually every pass is on the money.

There is no such thing as an uncatchable ball from Brady unless he is purposely trying to throw the ball away. And sometimes it is catchable

Enjoy it while you can, Bucs fans.

Accuracy is the number one thing. Like in Baseball, I do care that you throw 1000 mph, if you cannot throw strikes, means nothing. All the measurables that people think are so great for a QB, but if you are not accurate as a QB, then forget ever being great. Yes you need arm strength too, but if without accuracy, you will not be top tier. Look at Brady or Rodgers. Rodgers throws from a zillion angles, but is accurate, and Brady, as Joe has mentioned many times about his ridiculous accuracy. You can try an emulate Brady or Rodgers, but if you are not accurate, sorry, you are not emulating them. Like years ago, when the Bucs played the Patriots, and Jameis went to meet Tom Brady after the game. Jameis has talked about learning from Brady, and things like that, but Jameis is not a very accurate QB, so I do not care how much you train like Brady or whatever, you will never be like him if you are not accurate. I think about Josh Freeman, a he had all the tools physically, but just was never accurate. Yes arm strength is a given on the NFL, but if you are not accurate, then whatever. Arm strength and accuracy, are the first things you look for in a NFL QB. You can teach how to read defenses, but you cannot teach accuracy, QB’s either they have it or they do not. You can do somethings but over all. go back and check out historically QB’s in college that were not very accurate, and it is very very few ever, that actually improved their accuracy. If they are not accurate in College, then forget it. Again you will find exceptions to the rule, but historically, if they are inaccurate in College, then draft someone else. Trask has enough arm strength, and he was accurate in College, so there is hope for him, but time will tell how Trask does.

    GO BUCS!!!

All QBs need protection….especially those who aren’t as mobile…..this is the key to QBs like Brady, Ryan, Brees, Rivers……and will be for Trask.

The good thing about Brady & his ability to read defenses is he needs less protection because he will dump the ball off.

I expect shorter passes & many passes to backs this year……Teams will be so focused on Evans, Godwin, Gage & Jones that Fournette, White, Vaughn & Gio will get open.

BTW Accuracy includes touch, do not understand how they seperate that for the list made on ESPN.

    GO BUCS!!!!

I believe the most important thing right now is to ramp up our OL. We need max protection for our GOAT. GO BUCS!!

I remember the Brady accuracy in 2013 when I went to watch the Bucs play at New England. That was Josh Freeman’s last game with the Bucs.

We went into the stadium early to watch the pregame routines.
Brady was running 7 on 7 drills with tight coverage and Brady just was laying the balls right on the tips of his receivers where only his receivers could get their hands on it.

The accuracy compared to what Freeman was doing with Vincent Jackson and the rest of the guys was clearly different. As a Bucs fan, it was easy to see the difference in preparation and skill.

That’s all well and nice but this 45 yr old will get destroyed if no upgrades occur on the O line. There is no way in hell Licht is going to go with what we have in house contrary to Bowles presser yesterday..
Did you see the Titans pass rush just destroy our line almost every play?
Poor Trask had Titans in the backfield before he even had a chance to look for a receiver. And these were the Titan backups. My guess they’re waiting for the 53 man roster cuts. They’ll be good players available. Only downside of waiting till then is getting whomever they sign to understand the playbook in record time.
Not a good position to be in. Hell with our line intact last year we still got beat up by the Saints and Rams.

Unless Santa drops another great quarterback in our lap, this year may be the last for awhile that we are serious Super Bowl contenders. Enjoy this year Bucs fans, this is probably the year the fairy tale ends.

  8. Craig Says:

Watching the pre-season games I realized that we have, maybe, the best two back-up QBs in the league.

I am not a Gabbert fan, and Trask needs more reps to get up to speed on diagnosing defenses, but so many awful QBs out there.

At least we aren’t in Cleveland. The current Trask looks so much better than Jacoby Brisset, the Browns starter.

I read the entire article. Brady is listed number 1 in most categories. It’s amazing. The most important category was pocket presence. This man outside of Marino has the great pocket awareness ever. The little subtle movements he makes to avoid sacks is amazing. He’s still able to keep his eyes downfield as he maneuvers around the pocket. It’s very rare and instinctual. Most QBs will bail on a clean pocket or run right into the rush. Brady’s great pocket presence will help him this season behind that putrid OL. Trask’s biggest flaw is his lack of pocket presence. I surely hope he’s been paying attention to Brady in drills. He’ll never be as good as Brady, obviously, but it’ll help his technique.

  10. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Speaking of Josh Freeman, who can forget when he threw a receiver open for a Red Zone TD against Atlanta, then slammed the ball down in their end zone, and proceeded to do the Dirty Bird, in their stadium !
What ever happened to our Alpha Male QB ?
Today, that kind of celebration would draw a penalty for Taunting.

As far as Brady goes, he instantly makes an offensive line better because he gets the ball out so fast.

  11. Rob Hamada Says:

I throw this out there for discussion. With all the big guys still under contract for a few more years and guys like Jensen and Gage signed three year deals, I think Brady will play for one or two more years as long as there are times (vacations) built into his off-season and in-season schedule. Time away from camp would be one thing, like we’ve seen already. Time built into his bye week for a vacation. Extended days around labor day for an extended get away with family. Maybe even time away from the team for thanksgiving and christmas. Just my 2 cents. Thoughts?

  12. Cobraboy Says:

Gabbert is the one who seems to throw an uncatchable pass. His fastball is amazing, but few can catch it…

  13. Bucsfan13 Says:

@Cobraboy. Gabbert has a cannon, but he doesn’t have touch. Accuracy is hard to improve. You either have it or you don’t. Also, Brady reads coverages well and protects his receivers with lows throws. He rarely throws hospital balls like the great Peyton Manning. Brady’s great ball placement also allows receivers to get more YAC.

  15. Crickett Baker Says:

Rob Hamada, I like the way you think. If Brady stays this wonderful, we should do anything to keep him and that sounds like a family/football way to do it!

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

The G-hag would have to be named by Elon Musk as commander of the first human mission to Mars and shot up into space before Brady will play another day after this season.
