Devin White Refers To Tom Brady’s “Personal Problems Going On”

August 11th, 2022

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said he’s absolutely not concerned about Tom Brady’s absence, which he called “the least of our concerns.

Conversely, Bucs savior linebacker Devin White says he’s praying for Brady and for his personal problems to go away.

Joe doesn’t know what to believe.

Much like his retirement announcement, Tom Brady and his camp seem to have fumbled delivery of the message behind Brady’s new 10-day-minimum hiatus announced today.

“He’s a grown man,” White said after today’s practice. “You know, growner than a lot of us in the locker room. And you know, he’s a human. At the end of the day he’s got personal problems going on, but he’s a guy that he’s been doing this so long, he don’t need to be here.”

White added that he’s sure Brady will still be working even if he’s disconnected from the team and “will never miss a beat” when he returns.

“More than football, you know, we’re praying for whatever he got going on as a human being,” White said of Brady.

Joe will commence prayer, as well, asking the football gods to make sure there’s no demand for Blaine Gabbert jerseys from Lakeland to Largo.

The mental image of Joe being tortured by the mere possibility of Blaine Gabbert as the Bucs starting quarterback is inducing deep belly laughs in this reader.

  2. Buc15 Says:

    Planned family vaca…RELAX bruh

  3. Jeff Says:

Sick parents? Mistress challenges? Regretting his decision to return? I hope it’s #2!

  4. westernbuc Says:

Maybe Gisele is divorcing him for coming back

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

    “Growner”

Now that be a real groaner.

  6. Trevor Says:

Honestly, it really doesn’t matter. As long as he is ready week one, who cares

  7. Joe Says:

That was Stewart McClown. Nearly drove Joe to sell and ride off into the sunset.

  8. Kalind Says:

Joe. Let me put this to bed right now. Even if Gabbert starts 17 games for us and leads us to a winning record…there won’t be a clambering for Gabbert jerseys. Ain’t gonna happen, homie.

  9. Bird Says:

Football players are off half the year. Well the good ones that dont need OTAs Not sure planned vacation makes sense when he could have taken 50 in that time frame w the money he has in the bank

  10. Red86 Says:

Remember the Mike Glennon cult? Or Fitzmagic lunatics? Joe may have a point about the Gabbert jersey demand. XD

  11. GOB Says:

This is becoming bizarre. Time for some investigative reporting. A planned absence doesn’t jive with a family emergency. Maybe it is a real personal problem, instead of an ill family member. Super G jumping ship? Whatever the case, as global a figure as the man is, it’s strange nobody has uncovered the story. Everyone I’ve talked to is buttoned up.

  12. Bojim Says:

    Give him a break. Jeez.

  13. Bird Says:

Maybe he is replacing his Cyberdine system terminator T800 fuel cell

  14. Steven007 Says:

I wonder how many of my fellow posters I’m growner than?!

To actually address the OP, I wonder who to trust, Ian rappaport or D. White as regards the situation? Hmm…

  15. unbelievable Says:

I dunno, doesn’t really sound like White has any idea what it is either…

  16. #8 Says:

TB12 values privacy. He’s said as much. He’s 45 & remembers a world prior to mass cell phones, interweb, prodigy, & aol. He prefers to try to keep some things to himself is my guess & that’s ok. Dude’s fine. I only hope its truly nothing major & he simply has other things on his plate.

    Or maybe he’s recruiting Suh.

  17. Oxycondoms Says:

Brady will return as soon as bucs sign a center

  18. Hodad Says:

Tommy boy have fun, see you in September! If any player in the history of football deserves skipping the rest of camp it’s you. Some posters believe you had enough time off. They can’t understand why you’d want to go off with your family now when you could be sharing a hotel room with Trask next week for fun filled joint practices with the Titans. Well be assured some of us do get it. Come back tanned, and relaxed. I’m sure you’ll be ready to roll when you do.

  19. Adrnagy Says:

Brady don’t need to be 100% @training camp and @preseason games. He’s the GOAT for a reason … his kids are back to school or whatever , possibly wants to kick it at home two weeks to be with them. The team knew/knows so it was something planned from the GOAT.

  20. SufferingSince76 Says:

And now, another episode of As The Brady Turns.

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No worries, Booger told me he’ll be back by Thanksgiving….

Why isn’t this being described as a “Mysterious Absence”?

  22. richbucsfan Says:

    To White:

Just shut up! Keep the content of your prayers between yourself and God. No one else needs to know for what you pray. You have MUCH bigger fish to fry than praying for Brady. Learn to play your position and only your position.

  23. Bucsfan Says:

I have been saying all off season Gisele hates football. Gisele literally does not even live with Brady in Tampa. She takes kids to costa rica comes back for games. Anybody questioning Brady like I said he lives by himself and of course the help. She files for divorce Brady will never recover. He is already hated but everyone will take Giseles side. Brady is willing to live by himself and get possibly divorced to play for Bucs

  24. Bucs&Bolts Says:

    Off season roller coaster continues

  25. Allbuccedup Says:

Just hope he doesn’t retire again the more you post these articles the worse its starting to sound.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

“Personal things” may = a tight filming schedule with the old ladies. Crews already committed to filming on certain dates, locations secured. Delays can cause a cascade of problems.

  27. Alvafan Says:

This is weird. The one guy who shuns drama has been creating it constantly this offseason. He’s looking a lot like someone who regrets the decision he made when he came back to play with Jensen and the boys. Here’s hoping Brady’s last season doesn’t crash and burn. What was he thinking when he thought he could be immune to the Buccaneers curse. Nobody is.

  28. unbelievable Says:

@ cobra – I thought it might be for filming as well, especially if the Bucs have known for sometime…

Which just makes me think Brady is not 100% all in for this season, sadly.

  29. #8 Says:

Cobra & EMF–all good movies have a sequel. #8.0 for Brady–Grannies in Glendale.

  30. Bucfan Says:

The sad and disturbing thing about this article is that a college educated (graduate) of a big time university actually said Groaner. Now was she a Groaner? Who know but I digress. I mean WTF is that all about? I wood b completely embarrassed but fortunately I grewed up with sum edumacated peeple tat taght me hoe to speek korectly.

  31. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Why on earth would Brady have agreed to make that film at this time? Answer is, he wouldn’t, or at least I sure hope not!

  32. Cobraboy Says:

    @unbelievable: He’s all-in. His legacy demands it.

I know from direct experience the consequences of scheduling a shoot and then canceling. Every crew contract has significant penalties, pretty much equivalent to the day rate. For a large crew…look at the credits of even a simple film project and count the production heads and multiply by .65, and you see how many heads it tasks to shoot a film. At union scale (fortunately, that cost is about 1/3 down here vs. SGA rates.)

Besides, if Brady truly wants to go into film production, if he cancels a shoot period for football, he will lose monster credibility. And one thing Brady cares about equal to his legacy is industry credibility.

I hope this is the case instead of some deeply personal issue.

As long as he gets a few snaps in the final PS game, in Brady I trust.

  33. Cobraboy Says:

@Alvin: He thought he was retiring. These things are scheduled months in advance.

I have a project where we’ve waited 17 months for the director to put us on his schedule. We have an 8-week window. If we miss that window, the director is gone, and he is a key part of the project. At least the rest of the crew does not have to be scheduled so far in advance.

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

Using the word praying does not allude to vacation or movie stint. My guess Giselle issue or Bridget’s looking for more child support.

  35. BucsBro Says:

    1. Gisele thought the family was moving to Miami this year. She’s probably not thrilled Brian Flores ruined the plan and this training camp “vacation” could be part of the deal made for Tom to unretire.

    2. TIMING. All of this (Tom excused from practice) started right after the tampering full information came out. Not a coincidence. And who are the Bucs practicing against and playing this weekend? The team that tampered with Tom. That is, if there is a time to take a break for Brady this is it. And not only are you taking a break while the Dolphins are in town, you are changing the story by making it about “Tom’s personal problems” rather than “Tampering Tom”.

He’ll be fine. As someone said, this is strategically timed. The sooner the tampering talk recedes to the background, the more Tom and the Bucs can focus on football, anyways. Nothing much for him to gain this week, of all weeks.

  36. GOB Says:

Listn, agreed. If it isn’t a family health problem, Maybe Tom chose his first love, and super G is pissed she was forced to live in Tampa for one more day. I know I would be. She must think she died and went to hell.

  37. BucsBro Says:

I guess the Gage injury is just a minor hamstring tweak. Good. Just hope it goes away fast and does not linger.

  38. T REX Says:

Weird for Devin to choose those words

  39. sasquatch Says:

Joe will commence prayer, as well, asking the football gods to make sure there’s no demand for Blaine Gabbert jerseys from Lakeland to Largo.

I don’t think you have to worry about demand for Gabbert jerseys… ever, under any circumstances.

  40. geno711 Says:

Never lived in Boston. Liked visiting it on multiple occasions. Lived in both large cities in New York and Michigan. Love living in Tampa more than anywhere else. If Gisele and GOB don’t like it, fine with me.

Just felt like another insult from GOB from his New England perch.

  41. GOB Says:

Let’s go Gabby. Boom boom boom boom boom. Let’s go Gabby.

  42. JimmyJack Says:

Best thing to do is just be patient. Theres really no point to get caught up in the gossip gab. Bradys retirement/untetirement showed us that the media knows next to nothing when it comes to Brady. NFL insiders turn into teen bloid writers when it comes to our QB.

  43. ModHairKen Says:

Stay seated and remain calm. And mind your own business.

  44. GOB Says:

Jimmy, you’re talking about him as if he’s a regular stiff QB. Brady is Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, and Madonna all rolled up into one guy. Not creepy old lady Madonna, but you get my point. BTW the media didn’t concoct his retirement fiasco. He did that all by himself. Maybe a little help from Jeff Darlington

  45. GOB Says:

I’m sure he’ll be fine, and guns a blazing for the regular season opener. But if this isn’t a family health emergency, questioning his focus is fair game at this point. The company line on this one is confusing at best.

  46. BucBoy Says:

He may realize that if he didn’t win it all with last year’s team he’s likely not going to win it all with this year’s team, so why bother?

  47. Bucsfan Says:

Gisele said in an interview about six years ago that she wrote Tom a letter that said she was unhappy in the marriage. She thought he wasn’t holding up his end in the marriage. She would handle the household while he focused on football, and then she said he worry about his business ventures in the off-season. She said felt that it was inconsiderate because of all the sacrifices she’s mad in their marriage. Brady said he keeps the letter in the drawer to remind him. Maybe she told him to “ check the drawer.” She’s also said in his doc Tom vs Time that he told her in 2016 that he would retire when he won one more SB. He’s since won two. The warning signs have been there for Tommy forever. He probably made certain promises to his family. Family is more important than football.

  48. Zwak Says:

Please fasten your seatbelts and remain calm, we may experience turbulence!

  49. Joe Says:

    Bucsfan:

Brady told Howard Stern after he signed with the Bucs that his wife threatened a divorce when he was with the Belicheats if he ever took part in OTAs again.

  50. steele Says:

The main concern with Brady missing action is that he needs to get in sync with members of the offense, especially this question mark offensive line. Them working with Gabbert/Trask/Griffin is not the same.

This season is already weird. Adversity and obstacles pile up.

  51. gotbbucs Says:

This is probably a subject that the rest of the team should stay out of and not comment on, least of all the guys that struggle with the English language.
Too easy to have a slip of the tongue and say something that isn’t accurate.

  52. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

A poster here said he thinks this leave of Brady’s might be to take the heat off of him for the Tampering Story ?
This may very well be, because some in the media are wondering why the Dolphins Owner gets penalized financially, plus loses both a 1st and third round pick, yet nothing happens to either Tom Brady or Sean Peyton ?
After all, it takes 2 to tamper.
LOL, one media guy is calling us “The Tamper Bay Bucs”

  53. Ausgust 1976 Buc Says:

Yep this is what every Buc fan wanted to hear, TB12 to miss 10 days.
No matter what is said about, Good Bad or Indifferent, it just not what any Bucs fan wanted to hear.
    Whatever just Bring on Dallas.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  54. Ausgust 1976 Buc Says:

Chris T….This may very well be, because some in the media are wondering why the Dolphins Owner gets penalized financially, plus loses both a 1st and third round pick, yet nothing happens to either Tom Brady or Sean Peyton ?

Maybe you posted it Joe, I do not know.

Just what are the NFL Rules concerning Brady and Payton about this?

lol this and missing 10 days, yeah this is Tamper Bay for sure lol

    GO BUCS!!!

  55. Goatfarmer Says:

The obvious elephant in the room — Geezella wanted him to go a different route and he didn’t.

Look — he could retire again.

Tom is huge but as was oberved above, he is human. Thanks for all you’ve brought. .

  56. GOB Says:

Who the hell knows. Let’s get some facts straight though. The league has only taken away a first round pick on three occasions. Two of which involved Mr. Brady directly. Feel however you like about deflate gate, and tampering. I’m quite sure that many of you hated Brady before the laundry change, Joe probably included. The Patriots didn’t tape the Rams walkthrough, no matter what sore loser Marshall the Faulkner says. The Patriots Superbowls were won on the field. To suggest otherwise shows a size complex.

  57. GOB Says:

GF, I agree. Super G probably was planning on moving into the Miami mansion they built, but the glaziers and B flo. put a crimp on the plan. I’ll stand by the opinion that Brady is basically playing this year as an indentured servant. If it isn’t clear to everyone that he and she wanted to go there, I don’t know what else would convince people.

  58. Melvin Junior Says:

Something is not ‘right’ about this situation, & that is NOT good. Literally, I’ve heard the story change all day long on tv & now ‘this’ from White… It’s NOT good, whatever it is. I mean, for his TEAMMATES to not know ANYTHING, & for it to just come up outta the blue, like THIS… There was absolutely, NOT some “pre-planned” ANYTHING to ANY of THIS. PERIOD. You’re gonna Just ‘Buy’ that the team, OR anyone else, was not alerted/told anything at ALL, beforehand… And, not until today, after walking into Camp!? PLEASE. It’s Not Good.

  59. Just Saying Says:

Absolutely hated Brady before the uni change. Now a complete 180. Hope Julio can do the same for me but I doubt it.

  60. Red-sparrow Says:

    Lol Joe you’re a clown….

  61. Red-sparrow Says:

    Lol Joe you’re a troll

  62. Bucsfan13 Says:

To all the people who said he just wanted to avoid the Dolphins, do you guys even follow the team?! He was at joint practices yesterday with the Dolphins. He looked totally unbothered as he took pictures with his friend Wes Welker who’s now the WR coach with the Dolphins. He spoke with Tua and other Dolphins’ players. He wouldn’t have even showed up to joint practices if he was concerned about practicing with Dolphins. This was total projection by the media and fans that the practices would affect him. Brady’s been doing this for 23 years. He’s a total professional. In no way will he let the media or fans dictate his actions.

He was also his usually fiery self during the joint practices. He was very focused and intense. If he wasn’t all in, he wouldn’t give a damn and would be totally apathetic. Matter of fact, a Dolphins beat reporter reported that Brady was in contact with BA during practices. Doesn’t sound like a guy checked out.

Finally, those like Chris T who think Brady should be somehow punished for tampering there has never been a case where a player was punished for tampering. The fault has always been on the team doing the tampering. When KC was fined for tampering with their discussions with Jeremy Macklin, KC was disciplined not Macklin. Would you like them to break precedent and discipline Tom? How is that fair? Media is counting on you to be outraged and not think for yourself. All you need to do is read the rule book and read the NFL’s statement as to why Tom wasn’t punished. Let’s be honest, Tom has his fair share of haters in the media and fans, and that’s the only reason they think he should be punished.

  63. GOB Says:

At least we have one honest poster here. Is that what you kids call it? Or is it the tickety tok and the facetime where you all get your info? GOB still reads good ol’fashion print. Where am I, and what am I doing?

  64. GOB Says:

I’m Neal Diamond, I’ll smack you in the mouth!!!

  65. GOB Says:

BF13, Brady absolutely knew he was doing something wrong. Don’t forget these tampon charges go back to his days with the Patriots. The NFL rules are clear. Maybe he thought he could get away with it because, after all he’s Tom terrific. He should be fined, suspended and flogged.

  66. Beej Says:

players CAN’T tamper, as per the rules

  67. Bucsfan13 Says:

@GOB. You’re a known Pats fan who somehow can’t help but concern himself with what’s going on with the Bucs. Pats fans and the Boston media have an unhealthy obsession with Brady. I don’t see nearly the same obsession with Wilson and Ryan with their new teams. Once again, there’s still no precedent in which a player was disciplined for tampering. Why should Brady be the first? He already got hosed in the so-called Deflate scandal. How about you worry about your own team. The Pats fan and media are stage 5 clingers at this point. Worry about how the Pats offense looks absolutely horrid.

  68. Ausgust 1976 Buc Says:

So the saga continues of “the Chronicles of Mercenary TB12” the infamous hired gun of the O K corral fame down on Dale Mabry.

Next thing Florio breaks the story and shows a “Zapruder film” that Brian Flores filmed with Brady on Rosses boat with Ross, Payton and Goodell toasting the deal, lol
(For those who do not know what the Zapruder film is, it is the film showing President Kennedy getting shot in Dallas in 1963)

I am very thankful for Tom coming to the Bucs and hoisting the Lombardi and maybe in Feb 2023 too. I was not a hater of Brady like many here before he came to play in 2020, just like when Marino played, I hated the Dolphins but liked Marino.

But this saga has turned into a soap opera, it is called “As the Stomach Turns”

Sunday night against Dallas cannot get here soon enough.

    GO BUCS!!!!

I called this a few days ago, but maybe I’m totally off here and it’s a death in the family or a tragedy like that…

I guarantee that Brady is second-guessing his unretirement with Jensen out for presumably the season.

Fingers-crossed Brady plays this season, and I hope & pray that his problems get resolved or that enough time passes that he plays for us again.

    But Idk, guys

  70. Stan says Says:

Long time Bucs fan here. ( I was at the first Bucs game ever. Like the 1 million over fans) I totally understand the need for information, man do I get it. I think we should pray for TB12 and his family. Hopefully he can deal with his situation in ( HIS) life with his family. One of my favorite quotes here. At the end of the day his mental health is first, family second and football third. It’s just football my fellow Bucs fan. Join in with me to pray for TB12 my God bless us all. Not for football reasons but for life reason.
