Tom Brady Will Miss At Least 10 More Days

August 11th, 2022

It’s getting more and more weird at One Buc Palace.

Tom Brady has missed three practices, including today’s and now he won’t be around the team until Aug. 21 at the earliest.

Head coach Todd Bowles made the announcement after practice today. No reason was given, but it was stressed that the Bucs knew about this long ago.

“He’ll be back sometime around after Tennessee. He’s going to deal with some personal things,” Bowles began. “This is something we talked about before training camp. We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp …”

“It’s something he needs to handle,” Bowles said, stressing that this excused leave was scheduled long before training camp.

Joe can’t pretend this is ok from a football standpoint. Brady has new receivers and new offensive linemen. Building chemistry is important — and the Bucs’ opening schedule is brutal.

    Damn. This kinda sucks.

But from a non-football standpoint, I hope everything turns out okay in his personal life.

  2. Buczilla Says:

I hope that all is well with Brady and that it’s nothing dire. That said, if it’s nothing dire, then this is f’d up and irresponsible as all hell. I’ve never had a good enough reason to dislike Brady, but if someone ain’t on their deathbed, then their is zero excuse for this.

  3. Listnfrmafar Says:

    It’s the freaking movie people.

  4. fern Says:

    Jesus relax, no big deal.
Acting like the world is ending, he even gave a date Brady is back.

  5. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

I agree, if the Bucs knew about this, it has to be business related with Hanoi Jane.

  6. AbucAway Says:

    …. Aaaaaand, ACTION!

  7. GOB Says:

Can’t help but speculate that his mom’s cancer has returned. Like most of us, Tom is very close with his mother. It would explain a great many things. Initially, I thought he was just trying to avoid questions about the tampering stuff, but this has all the earmarks of a family issue.

  8. Steven007 Says:

It’s funny. Fonda makes a mistake nearly 50 years ago and has repeatedly apologized for the majority of those 50 years for said mistake. Yet she still gets lambasted with pejoratives. Lots of people channeling Jesus I see.

  9. ATLBucsFan Says:

Would rather this be taken care of before the season than a distraction when the games begin.

  10. Tom S. Says:

The guy is 45 years old and he won a Super Bowl his first year here in Arians offense. This is now his third year with Leftwich and Co. So it’s not great that he would miss that much time but if there is a QB alive who could miss most of training camp and have it marginally affect them it would be Brady.

  11. SB~LV Says:

    Prayers for the Brady’s
This is none of our business!

  12. NeverGIVEup Says:

Well if the knew about this for a long time now. Its safe to say whatever it is was a “scheduled” event/procedure/occurrence.

Speculate all you want but I think it is as simple as sounds. This was planned time of for Brady to do Brady things.

Honestly ask yourself, do I really care if Brady shows up to practice! PRACTICE!

We are talking about PRACTICE. Not a game, NOT A GAME but PRACTIVE!!!

And when you really think about it. This serves the team very well moving forward into next season. Training camp without Brady won’t feel so strange.

This is all part of a greater PLAN for the team, I am certain of that. You don’t get to be the GOAT based on just what you do on the field.

Brady is looking out for Kyle the only way he knows how to. By removing himself from the locker room, strategically. It allows Kyle to feel the pressure WITHOUT getting cooked.

Come on, if you’re going to speculate, let’s make it GOOD FOR THE TEAM. After all, we are talking about PRACTICE, not a GAME.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

    Eye of the tiger Brady.

Eye of the tiger or we’re doomed.

  14. chris l Says:

What is alarming to me is that bowles said he is confident he is back week 1. like really? That would be multiple weeks after he is supposed to return august 21. Just odd and the fact that this was planned. I mean if it is personal i just wonder why this timing, not like this came out of nowhere (if we believe the bucs). All of this is just so odd. I hope everything is okay but it is alarming. i am triggered. on ira’s birthday no less!

  15. mg Says:

Ive seen him miss the first four games and still win the Super Bowl.

  16. donuts Says:

If you connect the dots, its probably related to his mother, who had cancer a few years back. Cancer sucks and never stops trying to kill you. This totally makes sense the Bucs would give him some room to address such an important personal issue.

  17. admin Says:

I mean if it is personal i just wonder why this timing,

Sometimes, the big guy up above has a different schedule than Roger Goodell.

  18. DBS Says:

I said it last week. The Bucs knew what was going on with Brady and it was none of our business. So that’s it.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Are you really worried snot Tim Brady getting on the same page as his receivers? I mean he did when a super bowl with an entirely new offense his first year. Ten days off won’t hurt anything

  20. kyle Says:

haha joes now have a headline issue to hypothesize about for the next week and a half. its a non issue per bowles

  21. ViSyl Says:

This must be something serious, possibly health related to some relative as suggested above. But don’t worry, nothing related to his desire to play. Let’s hope everything goes right.

  22. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Heard this was a planned absence? Maybe someone in the family is having surgery, his wife or parents.

  23. Drew Says:

The Buccaneer family prayers are with you Tom if this is related to a family illness.

  24. Drew Says:

Grew up as a Boston / New England Patriot fan. Moved to Tampa in 1980 and became a Buccaneer fan. It’s GREAT TB12 is here now as well.

  25. Listnfrmafar Says:

Giselle is getting a buttox lift. It was planned, a trip, procedure or the movie.

  26. Dewey Selmon Says:

I don’t believe this was preplanned. I think his mother is in bad shape and they are saying it was preplanned to take the speculation off of what is really going on. Anyways prayers to her.

  27. Bird Says:

    “I didnt hear no bell”

“Get up you son of a b!**h cause Mickie loves yah”

  28. Tbbucs3 Says:

Instead of reckless speculation on why Brady is out….how about we just wait till the facts come out?

  29. NeverGIVEup Says:

Well, if we want to go into a panic let’s use some real facts about what happens when Brady and the entire team miss an entire preseason of action.

    Who wants to start?

  30. BucsFan81 Says:

Meh not too worried as a fan. Tom Brady is the Goat and Elite he knows how to get ready and prepare for the season. Let him handle his business off the field so that way when the season begins he is locked in along with rest of the team.

  31. ZZBUC Says:

No biggie on a football standpoint….And if it is personal, sending good vibes from here….

  32. NeverGIVEup Says:

    I agree 1000% Tbbucs3.

Or if we do speculate. Try balancing it with the extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

Like maybe Brady is a robot and he went down. So, they had to send him off to the moon for repairs.

Assuming there is a moon base with advanced Tech on it that the Russians haven’t stollen from us by now.

  33. Bird Says:

You Guys really think its cause of his movie?

The dude lives football. Cant sleep when he loses a regular season game. Cares about his legacy. And relationships he built. Thats why its hard for anyone in nfl past / present to say anything negative about the dude. Even tyrann mattieu said the guy is the man. . Charles barkely said he is the most humble super star he has ever met.

So now he is cool if teammates find out he is taking time off to be hollywood Tom. To not be present when guys he recruited are present at camp.

    Ok 😉

  34. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Perhaps when Brady retired, he planned a summer vacation with his family. He may have told the Bucs that he would unretire if he could still have his 10 day vacation promised to his family.

  35. Eckwood Says:

If it was scheduled , you announce it to some , even if vague, degree before camp . I sure hope the players knew !! Vague degree keeps everything real and no surprises , surprises cause many many different reactions and a higher degree of speculation and lower degree of respected privacy than a transparent or semi transparent non surprise scenario. ………… So being a coordinator is nothing like being a GM or Head Coach .

  36. NeverGIVEup Says:

    Alabama just broke the story.

Case settled, now the Joes can tell us all about the big party he is throwing for his PRIZED birth boy!!!

    LFG!!!

  37. Smashsquatch Says:

More work for Gabbert and Trask. Next man up.

  38. Joe Says:

So now he is cool if teammates find out he is taking time off to be hollywood Tom. To not be present when guys he recruited are present at camp.

    Blame Hanoi Jane.

  39. GOB Says:

Tom Senior had a bad case of the Wuhan flu also. He was critically ill, and I still believe he’s on oxygen. Brady’s mind certainly appeared elsewhere during his limited media avail. I seriously doubt this is a trivial matter. Professionally, Brady has delt with controversy head on. This is almost assuredly a family issue of some sort.
Whatever it is, praying for Gaylnn, Senior and the whole family.

  40. mark2001 Says:

Tom…tom… I think you are missing the boat. The Brady method will only take you so far.

I hear Aaron Rodgers has improved his game through meditation with someone… must be some Native American Chief because it is one of those names hard to pronounce. But I know it is spelled Ayahuasca. Chief Ayahuasca, I suppose. And don’t worry Tom… if the league would allow Rodgers to do anything he wants, you could too.

  41. IrishTony Says:

I honestly sense his mom is in hospice or something of the sort.

  42. gotbbucs Says:

When you have an Ayahuasca session scheduled you don’t miss it. Probably takes a few days to recover. Good for him.

  43. IrishTony Says:

Honestly @ Joe your statements are outrageous. It’s either his mom’s or dad’s health. He had planned this out in advance which is totally plausible. Gives them the opportunity to see if Trask can cut it.

  44. mark2001 Says:

gotbucs… and good for the teenage kids that will try it, with AR’s endorsement.

  45. tampabuscsbro Says:

I mean regardless of what’s going on in his life. He can literally miss all of camp and be fine. Hope he is okay don’t get me wrong but he needs the least amount of camp reps out of the entire team.

  46. IrishTony Says:

Bowles said he would be back after the Tennessee game.

  47. mark2001 Says:

gotbucs… I think I’d rather see teenagers experimenting with the TB12 method.

  48. NeverGIVEup Says:

Stop with the family issue speculation. This was PLANED MONTHS ago. It serves no purpose being right about a family issue.

You don’t plan months in advance to have a family crisis. Get a freaking grip people.

If it turns out to be a family issue. THEN your comments and sentiments will be appreciated. Until then, it’s just utter nonsense to speculate on a person’s personal wellbeing. This is not AB we are talking about.

  49. LakelandSteve Says:

Don’t worry everyone it will be ok. He had to go back to the lab and get blasted with some Gamma Radiation so he can play until he is 50. Now he may come back a little green but just ignore it.

  50. Captain Oblivious Says:

Hopefully just a movie shoot with Hanoi Jane or golf tournament with AR12.

  51. PassingThru Says:

    @NeverGIVEup

Something like cancer doesn’t work the way you are inclined to believe. Physicians will give a family a timetable if it is advanced, or aggressive, or both. Though it is a poor example, I’m on Week #2 of a 3 to 5 week timetable with my dog, who has an aggressive lymphoma. That gives me some quality time to say goodbye before he passes.

  52. mark2001 Says:

True Passing. And if one is lucky, they last longer, and you beat the odds. But time to prepare is precious.

I fully hope your dog has a painless passing. The loss of our pets for those where there is truly companionship and love between owner and pet, is a great loss. I think dogs particularly, are part of the family. And the degree of the loss isn’t to be underestimated.

  53. PassingThru Says:

    Thanks, mark2001

  54. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bird, YES it’s the movie, he owns a production company. Just because he unretired doesn’t mean he dismissed all he prior obligations. It’s to complete his role, what else could be pre-planned. The guy could travel around the world anytime he wants. If it was a procedure for his immediate family or parent(s), why is his absence just coming out now? The movie is different scheduling is estimated. Perfect timing, he’s not playing in preseason anyway.

  55. Mike C Says:

The one nice thing is No one will say(whine)” I need special treatment like Brady” cause they all know they are not on his level, yes he gets special treatment….. deal with it.

  56. AtticusFlinch Says:

I suggest that everyone take a deep breath, back off and give Brady the privacy and respect he deserves. And try to stop speculating as thoughts and words are powerful in manifesting the negative into reality. Just pray for Tom and his family as you would pray for anyone else you care about.

  57. unbelievable Says:

I hope everything is okay with him.

But man, almost every day our prospects for this season seem to a little closer to going down the gutter completely.

Never thought we’d see a stranger offseason than we did in 2020, but here we are…

  58. Oxycondoms Says:

Bucs sending brady over to shaun king to work on his footwork

  59. Bucs97 Says:

We talking’ about practice, man. Not a game not a game

  60. Cobraboy Says:

My guess is he’s needed to finish filming his vanity project with the old babes.

  61. mark2001 Says:

Oxy… don’t you mean work on his rapid use of knife, fork and spoon skills?

  62. Adam's Angry Says:

I didn’t want to reveal this….. but Tom Brady was cast as Dr. Doom in the MCU.

  63. Oneilbuc Says:

Who cares why Brady leaving for 10 days it ain’t none of yall business what that man doing!! Lol 😆 🤣

  64. Bucs97 Says:

We talk in’ about practice, man.

  65. tampafishman Says:

Better prep Gabbert/Trask to run the offense. Just sayin’.

  66. tampafishman Says:

Nothing to see here. Move along now. Everyone knows the best way to prep for a Super Bowl run is for your starting quarterback to miss weeks of practice.

  67. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Everybody takes a dirt nap at some point. It’s part of life.

  68. T REX Says:

    Should have stayed retired.

Whether it is your wife or mom or kids…

They are more important and there’s nothing left to prove.

I won’t be selfish…I hope he stays retired and takes care of his family first.

    LIFE>football

@steven007: Saw ur negative remark about Jesus. On ur judgement Day, I’m sure He will clear that up with u. And I did use the pronoun He.

  70. Bucntarv Says:

Maybe it’s because Miami is in town and he didn’t want any distractions regarding him trying to go there?

  71. Scooter Says:

Dogs are always happy to see you, loyal, and don’t hold a grudge. U Couldn’t marry somebody like that.
