“It’s Full Court Press Into Training Camp”

June 24th, 2022

“Rondé, we’ve changed the whole meaning of Buccaneer Man.”

The Bucs signed serious football-loving warriors this offseason.

Take what Todd Bowles said about newcomer safety/cornerback Logan Ryan on the Ira Kaufman Podcast. Ryan didn’t miss a day of voluntary conditioning or practices, and he’s staying after practice to lead and mentor.

Enter guard Shaq Mason. His body has 116 games of NFL wear on it, yet he explained on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday that the end of mandatory mincamp didn’t signal the start of a vacation or rest.

“I didn’t take my foot off the gas at all,” Shaq said, expalining that he bolted to Dallas to start training with offensive line guru Duke Merriweather. “It’s full-court press into training camp,” Mason added.

It sure feels like a lifetime ago that defensive tackle Chris “Swaggy” Baker was a big offseason signing, a guy who couldn’t wait to hit the barbecue and was advocating for “no-contact practices.”

I ran into Chris Baker once, at Big John’s Alabama BBQ! He really seemed to be excited to be here in Tampa. He had never been to Big John’s Alabama BBQ before, and asked me if it was any good ? I told him what I tell everyone about that place. The BBQ itself is very good, and they are not stingy with the portions.
However, IMHO their sauces leave much to be desired!

It is great to see that Shaq Mason is training hard! IMHO, we need hard workers like him to set an example for all our players.

Hey Joe, What are the guys competing for the other Guard spot up to?

    Luke Goedeke
    Robert Hainsey
    Aaron Stinnie

Goedeke was kayaking on Crystal River yesterday.

Stinnie was shooting rifles at a tactical gun range in Tampa earlier this week.

Don’t know about Hainsey. Likely dropped into a Primantis for a sirloin and cheese sandwich and a couple of Iron Citys if he’s like a good Pittsburgher.

(Yes, Joe thinks Iron City is disgusting dirty dishwater. 🤮 )

baker was a slacker and came in under the “mccoy running the defense – smiley brigade motif” and realized fast it was a joke here, and then acted as such

Awesome stuff and things have done nothing but change for the better once Arians came and brought his crew. It’s a fantanstic time to be a Buc fan.

“Joe thinks Iron City is disgusting dirty dishwater.” Is it anything like that tangerine IPA swill you push Bro? Nothing like it. –Joe

I think Stinnie will start. A vet that’s been on Brady’s line for three years. Brady’s oline communication probably takes time for a run blocking rookie like Goedeke, but he will definitely get his chance at some point. I’d love to see Hainsey if it comes down to a winner and locking up another good, young olineman.
