Day 4 Of Buccaneers OTAs Is In The Books

May 24th, 2022

Devin White has a declaration.

Beautiful day on the practice fields of One Buc Palace today.

Too bad media wasn’t permitted to document the fun for fans.

Yes, Joe knows NFL coaches and teams are paranoid and don’t like to share everything with fans. Joe thinks every NFL team should set up 20 camera feeds at practices closed to media and let fans pay $25.00 for a spring pass to watch online. Proceeds could be donated to charity, or to pay Antonio Brown’s legal bills.

Regardless, today was Day 4 of the 10 offseason training activity practices (OTAs) held this spring prior to a mandatory three-day minicamp in June.

Joe looked through today’s OTA photos at Buccaneers.com and saw Buccaneers savior linebacker Devin White in uniform and smiling.

That’s noteworthy because Joe didn’t see White during Days 1, 2 and 3 last week. Sessions are voluntary, but it’s always nice when your 24-year-old captain and defensive face of the franchise shows up.

Joe had a feeling White would be there today after he declared yesterday on Twitter, “This my season of winning!” Joe knew White wasn’t talking about one of his prized standardbred horses that has struggled recently.

With Lavonte David sidelined with an improving lisfranc issue, Joe thinks it’s extra important to have White at spring practices.

Tomorrow’s OTA session (No. 5) is open to media and Todd Bowles will hold a news conference.

  1. SB Says:

    Walk the talk my man!

  2. Mort Says:

Winning what? Put some specificity to the bravado or it’s just a bunch of pointless blather.

  3. Bucs&Bolts Says:

So much haters of this man y’all gonna be kissing his feet in no time.

  4. Richard Says:

Again I’ll say …”Watch the video, it doesn’t lie”

  5. kgh4life Says:

Devin White likes to talk, I just hope he can back it up with his play on the field.

  6. Steven007 Says:

White has certainly had moments of greatness, he just needs to learn to play more disciplined. And if we’re going to put the man in coverage, he needs obviously needs to improve. But I’d rather not have that scenario. Have him up on the box with the occasional blitz.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

Like my man Tyson says, Everybody got a plan..until they get hit.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll take 10 other players on our defense that play just like Devin White…..

    Maybe 9……I’ll exclude Shaq…..

  9. BillyBucco Says:

Nice knowing there will be a press conference.
Ask him if HE feels content with the defensive line how it is now, from a personnel standpoint?

Would love to know they are still beating the bushes.

  10. James in Memphis Says:

Ahhh… This is a prayer that D. White posted.. Hello…..

  11. Joe in Michigan Says:

Mike Johnson: You don’t have a plan for after you get hit? Asinine quote said over and over again on here. If you don’t have a plan for after you get hit, you never had a plan to begin with.

  12. David Says:

I fully expect 3 things from this defense-
    1. Vea to play 70% or more of the snaps
    2. Shaq to have 12+ sacks
    3. White to have an all-pro year

  13. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Lol Joe in Michigan, agree 💯.. Yeah there’s a lot of haters on here lately. I see MORT is back with his Asinine remarks about a player on our Bucs that was just named the Best at his position in the NFL ! And the stats back it up if you want to go there too .. Devin White is a generational LB and AGAIN he’s only 24 . I remember draft day that year and half of you wanted the other Devin . Devin Bush has been the real bust of that draft. Be thankful for these times and stop finding every little thing to complain about. Go Bucs

  14. Eckwood Says:

Dev white needs ( and he won’t) understand he is the next coming of Attention McCoy ………. How many game changing plays did he make last year or game changing plays ………. Feel or sound familiar!!!
35 year old Suh had more, Hell J dean actually had more , Gholston had more ,,, this big mouth attention seeker is a cancer because no one on the D can count on him to be in position !!! They love his talent and won’t throw him under the bud but they don’t trust him and that is a player that needs to GO ( Cancer) ( big mouth attention seeking cancer ) sorry but the goal is to win not Stroke and avg on the field D White …….. he’s 75 percent mouth off the the field / attention and 25 percent on the field ……. Bad for 10 other Warriors trying to Win !!!

  15. Dooley Says:

Devin Whites’ level of confidence would lead me to believe he wants it all. Pro Bowl, All-Pro, SB(prolly SB MVP too), and league MVP. Can’t say he’ll get it all, but it’ll be fun watching him try lol

  16. Drunkinybor Says:

Or to pay Antonio Browns legal fees…. HAHAHAHA 😆 😂 😆 I spit out dome of my beer on that one.

  17. Bucs Win Says:

    Calm down David.

  18. Posey99 Says:

Nice to see all the faces at OTA’s

  19. Dman Says:

Most important thing in this price is that Lavonte is still on the sideline rehabbing. Not good.

  20. Wade Landry Says:

I do not understand why some of you punk-ass expert’s hate on D.-White?as an aside,if the person who thinks he doesn’t have the respect and trust of the other people in the huddle/locker room, you are not paying attention to the vibes surrounding this young man. Don’t be a dumb-ass like the aforementioned experts Bucs, sign the young man to along term deal now!

  21. Stu Says:

    @SB, amen!

  22. Craig Says:

I don’t understand the punk ass experts that think Devin White is great.

For every splash play there are four that get over-run, have poor angles taken, have arm tackles, or are just plain whiffs.

He needs to calm down and play his position, his best play is a delayed blitz because he can run straight at the QB. Angles confuse him.

I’ll save his horse collar tackles for another day.

  23. SlyPirate Says:

    This is White’s contract year.

    He’s motivated.

  24. Bowles4President Says:

Joe, is this an attempt at reverse psychology for the Bucs? I would think the Bucs would rather have media Members attend day 4 , taking notes with pen and paper, than live streaming 20 cameras for anyone with $25 to spare. Maybe you were joking and I didn’t get it??

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of teams live streaming practices… and if they did there is clearly it didn’t catch on

  25. Goatfarmer Says:

Hey Eckwood – we’re you exposed to a lot of glue fumes for many consecutive friends? Asking for The Morons’ Association of America. If this is simply natural moronity, it’s quite possible you could lead the organization.
