“I Feel Like My Work Ethic Is Second To None”

April 29th, 2022

The Buccaneers’ new guard is really high on himself and talks about it comfortably, and almost in a humble way.

Guard Luke Goedeke out of Central Michigan, the Bucs’ second pick of the second round, was chatting with media tonight at One Buc Palace and was happy to say he’s “really a nasty guy” and ready to chew up anything in his path.

And Goedeke will grind to make that happen. “I feel like my work ethic is second to none,” he said.

Joe asked the rookie about his impressions of Bucs coaches when he met with them during the draft process. Goedeke didn’t name any name, but just repeated how he was struck by the championship culture and the whole vibe of everything Bucs.

One might say, ‘of course he was impressed!’ but it sure sounded like the Bucs stood out over other teams. In fact, Goedeke referenced culture again later in the chat and said the Bucs were his dream team to go to in this draft. And yeah, Tom Brady was a part of that.

Licht likes his booger eating nasty guys, so far it’s worked out for him, I’m sure this will be no exception.

  2. GenocideD Says:

So we got some new nasties on both sides of the ball!

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A classic Jason Licht trade up Olineman “Nasty Guy”…….how can you not like this pick?

  4. ModHairKen Says:

Cappa was soft and weak. He got pushed around. This guy won’t.

  5. SOEbuc Says:

Could there be any better of a nasty player to learn from Jensen.

  6. Pewter Power Says:

Yep talking about his run blocking. Yeah everyone loves the picks until you realize technique is more important to pass block and Brady gets smashed. Please don’t start this dude day 1

  7. Coburn Says:

Got a lot of depth in interior. I still think stinnie is more than capable but co my competition will be fierce which is a good thing. With hainsey also in the mix we seem to be ready is Jensen leaves in the near future

  8. Coburn Says:

Although he just resigned didn’t he?

  9. steele Says:

    Fighters always welcome.

  10. adam from ny Says:

looks like he can beef up to 325 pounds as well

  11. Rod Munch Says:

Pewter Power – Bucs have other options, won’t need to start him early, and I’m certain they won’t start him until he’s ready.

  12. Pewter Power Says:

Ex tight end turned tackle that has to be converted to guard because his arms aren’t long enough!!!! Ok and all I’ve been hearing since Brady has been back is Bucs have to be all in for 2022. He is a guard and not a first round pick like tryon. If he doesn’t start early he won’t start later before his competition.

Great all in move Licht lol

  13. Buccos Says:

I am sure they would have taken the TE from Colorado State if he were still available. It seems like teams keep jumping in front of us and taking the guys we were hoping would fall to us.

  14. David Says:

Love it! The DE/DT pick is said to be relentless and this guy said to be nasty. Can’t go wrong with the trenches!!

  15. Cobraboy Says:

    And he’s ugly.

    😉

    2 pics, 2 BU’s.

    Nice.

OK, Licht, take a flyer on Dean now…

  16. MadMax Says:

I didnt see it coming (the position yes)

I havent had a chance yet to study him, but I trust Licht….he knows whats up.

Now we need Brian Robinson Jr.

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

He will learn a lot in a very short amount of time. JL is definitely checking off the boxes. Dean still on the board and a good project pick

  18. lefty Says:

…but Pewter Power boy knows that the pick won’t work out well – what a Mayorkas

  19. SOEbuc Says:

Pewter power you’ve won the most idiotic statement about oline award.

  20. firethecannons Says:

PFF really graded him high–94.3 run blocking grade his attitude is a plus–dude has to move guys for a living, sounds like he loves doing it too. Whats not to like?

  21. SlyPirate Says:

    “Nasty.” “Mean streak.”

    These terms have become cliches.

This draft is a C. Second lack luster draft in a row.

  22. Francisco Guzman Says:

I had to look this guy up and pff had him rated high. Number 62 in their top 250. They said he’s a great run blocker. I like that.

  23. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Loved the Hall pick. Goedeke (geh deck ee ?) is already growing on me. (I trust Licht on this one.) White is a “glider” and is a running back who can actually catch the ball.

  24. sasquatch Says:

Calls himself a “glass eater”… Good enough for me. I expect big things.

  25. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady “liked” the Bucs post of his highlights. That’s a good sign. Lee brought up an excellent point on the podcast: If Stinnie was so good, why weren’t other teams knocking on his door. His agent could only get him a one year deal? I remember before last season Stinnie said he thought he could be Cappa out and he didn’t. I’m sorry. Im not sold on Stinnie as a full time starter. Brady practices with these guys all the time. I have to think he told Licht that it would be a good idea to upgrade the LG position. Booger McFarland also said Brady would love him because he wouldn’t get beat inside and it would allow him to step up in the pocket easily. Booger can be a bit of an idiot, but he knows his stuff when it comes to the trenches. Brady also “liked” the Logan Hall posts as well. We need to address the defense again with the rest of our picks. I can’t believe we wasted a pick on a RB. We need CB help

  26. TBChucky Says:

I think this pick works out fine. I think Bowles intends on running the ball more, and this guy definitely helps accomplish that. For everyone bitching saying this is a “lackluster “ pick.. Did everyone miss the God
Belichick taking Cole Strange in the first round after trading down? Now that was a reach.. I have to trust Licht with the Oline picks.. He’s been right about basically all the 2nd and 3rd round OL besides Hainsey. The jury is still out on him, obviously. He could end up being very good. We’re getting set up nicely with OL depth, IMO..

  27. TBChucky Says:

Competition is a good thing. It just got harder for Stinnie to win the starting LG job!

  28. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

Like the Goeteke pick. The nastier the better.
