What Type Of Concessions Did The Bucs Make For Tom Brady?

March 13th, 2022

“Anything you want Tommy, except I’m not taking back that headcase Antonio Brown.”

In the wake of the stunning news that Bucs quarterback Tom Brady unretired and is coming back to Tampa Bay, the fact Brady was at Team Glazer’s English kickball game this weekend and hours later announced he’s coming back is just too delicious to believe it was a mere coincidence.

Joe doesn’t believe in coincidences.

Brady made it clear he wanted to spend more time with his family when he retired. So what did the Bucs do to ease Brady’s mind about his family responsibilities? Did the Bucs tell Brady he didn’t have to show up to One Buc Palace until training camp begins in July? D

id Team Glazer set up a marketing agreement with Brady in connection to their kickball team (which is much more popular internationally than the Bucs) to peddle TB12 products?

Did the Bucs tell Brady he only needed to practice three days a week once the season began?

This is all very interesting to Joe.

Ian Rapaport on NFL Network said he got a text from Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians after news spread that Brady is back. It was short and to the point.

“Total excitement.”

I would be shocked if we weren’t inking one year deals for Marpet and Jensen and Cappa. In a nutshell, this changes everything.

    The Brady effect. Amazing.

  13. alvinscissorsharper Says:

From Gabbert and Trask to Brady. Wow! All the free agents will be much more inclined to come back. Without the injuries to Godwin and Wirfs, and AB losing his mind, we would have gone back to back.

  14. BuxfaninTX Says:

So much for Mike Florio’s fake news that Brady hates Bruce Arians & the Buccaneers organization.

  17. adam from ny Says:

he is now proud owner of all concession stands at ray jay…all 🙂

  18. GOB Says:

Does anyone think it’s funny that Brady waited for all these QB domino’s to fall? Hopefully the concession is that Arians will take his nighttime meds during the day, and leave him and leftwich alone. Also of note, legal tampering begins tomorrow. This feels like a power play gone wrong. Not wanting to look like a dink, and still wanting to play, Tampa became his only option.

Ouch. But if you have that kinda money to pay for a footbLl not an issue

  27. JimmyJack Says:

Good call Joe on the Glazer angle you. They did a lot to get Bruce here and probably doing a lot behind the scenes to get Brady back into the mix.

Tom’s timing is very interesting. He made this announcement right *before* free agency begins. It looks like he wants to make some personal calls.

All the NE trolls on this here website ragging on BA all the time can suck it!

  32. Stanglassman Says:

Brady gets the red pen. Offensive game planning final say?

  33. Trucker Buc Says:

The way I figure, someone in Tampa Bay found a bottle washed up on the beach, opened it to find a magic genie, and used at least one wish to bring back Tom Brady.

  34. Biff Barker Says:

The Florio stories don’t have to be true because he gets paid either way.

  39. steele Says:

No thanks to Tom for stringing everyone along so wickedly, but f it. All forgiven. Now let’s get back to work, GOAT.

Notice his message was about “unfinished business”. I do believe he was disgusted with how the season ended, so stupidly, just 8 quarters away from another Lombardi trophy, and for a while, actually considered bagging it.
Those problems are still to be solved, and they should give Tom anything he wants, in any way possible. “Whatever you want, sir.”

Fix that defense. (Bowles.) Get much better on offense and let Brady do what he does, the way he wants (Byron, Arians). Sign the right guys to come back, but not all of them. Get younger with the draft. Fix the lapses in mental focus across the team. Solve the Rams and the Saints, losses that were embarrassing and unforgivable. Sign the right guys back, and UPGRADE, especially on defense. Be the bullies who bully the Rams.

Trask gets another season to develop. Gabbert? Sure, why not, it doesn’t matter anymore!

The losers: Hanoi Jane Fonda and Sally Field, and “80 for Brady”, which will have less of Tom’s attention than it would have.

I’m sure it was fun for Brady to watch the carnival of scrambling for the lesser species of QB, the constant refusal to allow him to retire, and how his existence, retired or not, loomed over all of football.

  40. Jeffbuc Says:

And I almost commented this morning about all the whining going on in this site. We didn’t even know who are quarterback or team would be and everyone was crying. I wasn’t sharing that sentiment with you guys. But right now I am for sure sharing the excitement of Christmas for an adult Bucs football fan. Could March 13th be a better day for Bucs fan. We get at least one more year of relevancy. Of actually being favored in most games. And super bowl or bust mentality for 3 straight years. There are fans from 30 teams right now that are pissed. The rams think they are invincible just like we did last year. But this year Tom knows might be his last and I think he will have free range to do whatever he wants besides signing AB

  41. Brent Clark Says:

When I saw he was in London with the Glazers yesterday, I had the feeling he was coming back!

  42. BucfaninMi Says:

This news literally made my day! Now if I were Kyle Trask or the QB coach (encouraging it), I’d be mimicking everything Brady does. Learn as much as possible.

  43. Buc4evr Says:

I’m just glad I wasn’t the guy that bought Brady’s last TD ball. LOL. LFG.

  44. Listnfrmafar Says:

Wait for it, there is still more to this story.

  45. Arn Platz Says:

Now to watch what happens with our FA’s. This is better than a movie

  46. GOB Says:

Be surprised if Arians coaches this team, still more surprised if bucs FAs take less, or shorter deals to come back. Maybe the crappy ownership guaranteed real dollar spending. Remember the cap is absolutely crap and means nothing

  47. D-Rok Says:

The interesting thing to me right now, hearing this news? In Brady’s history, he and his teams have a pattern of a SuperBowl appearance every 2 years. The one exception was the Pats repeat in early 2000’s. Brady with Bucs: 2020, SB win. 2021: Made playoffs, no SB. 2022: Expect a SB return, hopefully a win. HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF WITH THIS PLAYER. Get excited, Bucs fans. I’m super excited!!!

    GO BUCS!!

  49. bigdaddio Says:

If I were I him I want concessions on better coaching or just f it and give Brady the OC role too.

  50. LakelandSteve Says:

I think you are on to something Joe. The Glazers wined and dined Brady in The UK and the Bucs are going to Germany this year as the home team. Just think how many Brady Bucs jerseys will be sold internationally with him back on the team. Who knows what other deals the Glazers offered Brady while he was there. I bet you on the eve of legal tampering that Lichts phones are blowing up tonight.

  51. Mike Says:

Man, I went out and bought the Madden version with TB12 and P. Mahomes thinking I would be stuck playing that one forever, but now, TB12 is back!

  52. sasquatch Says:

I’m really not sure there needed to be “concessions”. They’ve given him everything he wanted up to this point. Brady wants to play, what did they have to do to make it worthwhile? He’s got more money than he needs for a few lifetimes… He doesn’t care about being the highest paid. Could he maybe be looking for final say on the gameplans? Some assurance that they’ll find a way to bring back Gronk and Jensen?

  53. FortMyersDave Says:

I agree with Lakeland Steve. Brady is going to use Man U to market himself and his wife’s image and products. The Glazers and he will divide up the coin so that they all pad their Cayman accounts. It is a possibility that TB12 is now a minority owner of Man U and the Bucs. This definitely changed the playing field for free agency. Just got done reading a Florio article about TB12 hanging out with Ronoldo and saying that he though the GOAT was going to ask for his release to play for the Niners. Well Florio was right about one thing, Brady wanted something and he definitely got it!

  54. Anonymous Says:

The big question is what will that so called expert List change his screen name to now that all that nonsense about Brady hating the coaches and Bucs organization just got destroyed. Given his team the patriots will still be irrelevant I’m sure he will stay on this board, but will have to come up with a new angle now that his old act has been exposed for the nonsense it always was

  55. teacherman777 Says:
