The Power Of Tommy

March 16th, 2022

Influence.

When a middling free agent gets a call from the greatest ever, you heed his words.

And that’s all it took for new Bucs receiver Russell Gage. The day after Tom Brady announced he was unretiring, he called Gage and told him Tampa Bay where Gage may want to be.

Package delivered, types Joe’s good friend and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager of NFL Network.

Joe wonders what other free agents Brady is working on behind the scenes? May make for an interesting next couple of hours and weeks.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard recently said some players bring more value because of their impact and influence. How can you top Brady?

    How cool is that!

  2. Adrnagy Says:

    Theres a report …
“He goes over across the pond over the weekend, to the Man United game, sits in the box with the Glazer family, who owns both those teams,” Volin said. “What I don’t know is, did Brady try to do a power play and the Glazers said no? Here’s what I think happened: the Glazers are very much indebted to Brady. I think Brady went to the Glazers and said, ‘Look, I’ll come back, but we have to fix something with Bruce Arians. You have to talk to the coach.’

If youre arians .. stop bullying the goat or blasting him on tv. Stop acting like youre developing or teaching QB.

Give Brady a ton of credit. But Arians and Licht have to seal the deal and make the numbers work. Would love to see us lock up Godwin in a long-term deal, make a bunch of cap space, and finish the job of creating a team to be feared.

  4. mark2001 Says:

Adrnagy … that is entirely speculative with no basis in fact. You might as well speculate that Brady only agreed if Arians and Licht were replaced with hand puppets, and Lefty let him call all the plays. What wacky speculation.

the bluffing game is rampant in the NFL right now.

And I am sure TB12 also made a call to his new OG Shaq Mason…

I can’t wait to see who signs up next!

We are the luckiest NFL fans on earth. We are the only ones that know the feeling of having THE GOAT join your team. TWICE!!!!

The Patriots drafted Brady on the 6th round. He was not the goat then. They have no idea how we are feeling right now! AGAIN!!!!!

    LFG!!!!!!!!!!!!

    No I’m not Realisto. Lol

  8. Dew Says:

Would miss JPP but Von Miller is available & might like to play with Brady?

I think it highly more likely, that the fire burned inside Brady, and he was going to retire for his Family. But after a couple months, his wife saw that he really needed to play another year to be happy…that he wasn’t finished. And being a loving wife, who knew he and the kids were fine, and knowing that Arians and company would be as flexible as possible with the practice schedule, and their best in building a team around him that would do everything possible to keep him safe and help him succeed, kissed him on the cheek and said ” Love you tommy… if it really will make you happy”. And he picked up the phone.

Of course you can have some bizarre conspiratorial theory about what went down. But being married approaching 45 years, know good wives do these things sometimes for love. I think it was that simple.

    Bucs restructured Shaq

Mark2001 the most sensible and likely scenario

Brady is powerful, but not as powerful as 40 million dollars that Cappa took to go to Cincinnati! Sometimes, Money Talks, even louder than Tom Brady!
That said, thanks for the article! I was unaware Brady had anything to do with our new receiver.

brady call or not, 3 years 30 mil is a nice contract for gage…

of course tom is the icing on the cake…

but… any hardcore bucs fan has been watching gage for a few years now, and are aware this guy is definitely no scrubbb

  16. Infomeplease Says:

Tom Brady was last year (although not awarded as such) and still is MVP in so many ways!! Take a seat.. better yet STAND UP and watch this team RISE from the playoff ashes of last season!!!! GO BUCS!!!

  17. SB~LV Says:

I’d like to see TE Isaiah Likely in Pewter and Red next fall ….

  18. Brent Clark Says:

Maybe TB12 was window shopping and checking prices while retired…

  19. T REX Says:

    Tom who?

It’s all Licht baby…no one cares about Tom

  20. Erik Says:

Brady comes out of retirement but there is a chance this could be his final season. So any and all free agents who want a chance to play with the goat will sign up for their chance. If brady invites you to be a part of the team you better not hesitate or look for bigger money cause brady wants that 8th ring and anybody who wants super bowl status better join the most likely team to get there, enough said.

We had a chance to get Watson and have a quarterback for 10 plus years and we settle for a quarterback for 1 year. And it ain’t no guarantee that we will win this year. I’m seeing a lot of offensive moves and no defensive moves other than Davis. Defense wins championships your defense will determine how far your team will go. But to my real bucs fan you might as well prepare yourselves to move on from Brady because this is it after this year for Brady he’s not coming back after this year . So in the next 10 months I don’t want to hear the sky falling and yall beginning Brady to please come back because he ain’t regardless what Joe says.
