Free agent Ronald Jones

It’s now less than two hours before Phase 2 of NFL free agency.

Phase 1 came Monday at noon, the proverbial free agency dinner bell. Players’ agents were allowed to begin negotiating (officially) with any team and deals could be agreed to in principle.

Today at 4 p.m., all teams must be under the salary cap maximum to accommodate any pending deal. So cuts and trades will come in a flurry to make room.

Also at 4 p.m., free agents themselves can begin speaking directly to anyone they wish. Why? Because they will truly be free! The NFL fiscal year kicks off at the stroke of 4.

That’s when the scene becomes like old school free agency. For example, Leonard “Playoff Lenny” Fournette, if he doesn’t have a contract, can fly to Los Angeles and be courted in style by the Chargers. Or Will Gholston could head to the Cowboys and see how he likes Dan Quinn?

Joe is most interested in the inevitable Bucs cuts, who flies to Tampa for a visit and the terms of the eventual Tom Brady contract restructure.

  3. Noles Says:

    MASSIB

  4. lambchop Says:

BTW, Carl Nassib is available. Wouldn’t mind getting him back if he’s willing to take a discount to ride the Brady train.

  5. rrsrq Says:

would not be surprised ti see OJ and Rojo back on one year deals because of their affordability and knowledge of the offense if Lenny and Gronk go for greener pastures. Of course this is up to TB

  6. Bucs&Bolts Says:

I can’t believe some y’all saying Nassib smh 🤦🏻 I like the like of chandler jones

  7. Marine Buc Says:

Honey badger and Carl Nassib are two interesting prospects…

We also need 2-3 running backs. Will be interesting to see how the Bucs address the RB position.

  8. BretWITHoneT Says:

Bucs&Bolts … Raiders already signed Chandler Jones and you need to be more realistic of who we can afford . Of course , everyone wants Chandler Jones . Doesn’t mean he’s affordable

  9. Allbuccedup Says:

Hopefully OJ will go somewhere 5 years of literally nothing and is fragile as a china doll.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

No to Rojo, yes to Lenny. If neither, we roll with Vaughn and whoever.
Nassib was a decent rotational guy. Could be a fairly inexpensive pick-up.
Honey Badger?! I’d love to see it. But HOW?! It’s not like he’s coming from a loser franchise to play for a ring, AND, he will cost $$$.

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

And ‘HECK NO’ to OJ. I could empty out a cereal box and get more production from it!

  12. Dewey Selmon Says:

Would like to see Cordelle Patterson sign here. Lenny/CP/Vaughn and FA or draft pick. There are going to be some surprise cuts soon.

  13. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Chandler Jones to Raiders for a bunch of green.

  14. TBD Says:

Bucs&Bolts, Carl Nassib was very productive here. He had I believe 7 sacks the one season, as a backup. Made alot of good plays with the wing-span.

  15. Cobraboy Says:

Looks like all the teams over the cap will announce their cuts and shenanigans at 3:59pm EST

  16. bucsfan951 Says:

the bucs already have a nassib type on the team. his name is anthony nelson. no need for 2 at this time

  17. LOL Says:

Bucs should go after Von Miller

  18. TBD Says:

Bucs&Bolts, I agree that there are definitely other more pressing needs, but it was a valid name brought up by the previous commenters.

Now let’s get Gronk & Lenny done.

  19. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Cobra

Bucs need to make some moves to get under the cap.

I wonder what will happen with Brate, Pinion and Succop…

Re-signing Suh and Gronk would also help to push @ $12M of dead cap money into 2023.

  20. YucstoBucs Says:

    CHANDLER JONES !!! 🙏

  21. Cleanhouse Says:

Yes Cordelle Patterson is the guy I want the most from another team

  22. unbelievable Says:

    4pm

  23. SOEbuc Says:

Is Fournette just really asking for too much from everyone??? I don’t get why he hasn’t been signed???

  24. Oneilbuc Says:

Chandler Jones just sign with the Raiders!!

  25. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

Carl Nassib coming back??? He’s a great rotational edge. While I love JPP, he did absolutely nothing while on the field last season. Maybe he will get his mojo back with his off-season surgery and time to recuperate, but I don’t trust it at his age. Nassib is only 28 with plenty of good football left in the tank. LFG

  26. SlyPirate Says:

lambchop … “To see if Nassib wants to ride the Brady Train.”

You actually wrote that? I’ll let other fans explain your unintended implications.

  27. Tony Says:

Would’ve rather of seen them sign Whitehead over Carlton. Hopefully in a couple of years they can bring Whitehead back. Since the Jets got him for two.

  28. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Sly
    🤣

  29. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Nassib rides the home train fer sure

  30. Beej Says:

OJ Howard and Von Miller just signed w Buffalo

  31. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

OJ Howard signed with the Buffalo Chips

  32. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Dang beej thought I was being 1st

  33. Keith Says:

Nassib no way. Don’t need an actual Diva prancing around the locker room.

  34. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Too bad Bucs turned down multiple trade offers for ROJO back in December.
