Saints Head Coach Says Talent Rules Against Bucs

March 29th, 2022

Saints head coach and defensive guru Dennis Allen talks Bucs.

After talking to the new head coach of the Slimy Saints this morning, Joe felt a strong urge to wash hands.

Dennis Allen was chatting with media at the NFL Owners Meetings in Palm Beach and Joe jumped in to ask why the Saints defense has had so much success against Tom Brady’s Bucs.

“No. 1 would be good players,” Allen replied. “Understand the plan and go out and execute it. It’s really not that complicated. We try to take away some of the things that they do really well. We got good players.”

It’s an annoying reality, but mighty Brady has not solved the riddle that is the Saints. Joe asked about the rivalry with the Bucs among players and Saints fans.

Allen said Saints fans would call the Falcons their No. 1 rival, and he conceded that his defense has extra juice against the Bucs.

“I don’t really get into the whole rival thing,” Allen continued. “It’s a game and our job is go out and win the game. … Look, do I think our guys get excited to play against Tom Brady, who is probably the best to ever play the game? Yeah, I think they do get excited about that, but I don’t know that we treat it a whole lot different.”

Joe heard many NFL head coaches this week comfortably call Brady the best ever. For Allen, it’s “probably.”

Man, it is so easy to hate the Saints.

This guy is a good D-Coordinator and a lousy HC. Nothing to see here.

  3. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

I know some “huge Bucs fans” who before Brady came were “huge Saints fans” that always talked crap about the Bucs. Disgusting!

  4. SaintsFan59 Says:

well, it is so easy to hate the yucs too. so yuc it.

  5. TBChucky Says:

Super easy to hate the Saints. Dirty team. That’s been verified by the league already.. Their defense definitely gives us problems though.. Hopefully that’ll change this season..

  6. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Saints and their trashy fans are the circle K of NFL fanbases and cities. Just like that mud you get from the mighty mississippi when you walk around that town on the bottom of your shoes, that is a saints fan. They all look like a catfish that jumped out of the river; they are just not good enough to be a trophy.

  7. Alanbucsfan Says:

Allen replied, ” It’s not complicated, We try to take out the knees of their better players.”

  8. tampabayallday Says:

    Tampa retired Brees. Good times.

  9. Mark Says:

May karma continue to rain misfortune and misery on the unspeakable abomination that is the Saints franchise, forever and ever.

Joe, him saying “probably the best to ever play the game” is not an insult. Your emotions are getting the best of you.

  15. BA4President Says:

Even saying that their biggest rival is the Falcons feels like an insult to us. They won’t even let us hate them, wtf?

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Saints lost 8 games last year…..so they don’t get up for all of them.

We need to figure them out…..I would say, get ready to fight……take some penalties & hurt them back…..we have the physical talent to do that but I’m not sure the mentality.

On another note….I make it a practice to travel to one game a year in Tampa….last year it was the Saints game…..we averaged 37 points a game at home and I watched the shutout…….I won’t choose the Saints next year

  17. Bojim Says:

    We’ll sweep them this season.

  18. Joe Says:

Even saying that their biggest rival is the Falcons feels like an insult to us.

Atlanta-New Orleans rivalry, while little known outside the deep south, has been going on for decades.

  19. Listen Linda! Says:

They have good players and they hustle – especially when they play against us. They beat us because they have been more physical across the board.

  20. ClodHopper Says:

TBH I always considered Bucs/Panthers and Saints/Falcons as the division rivals, but still hate the Saints the most.

we shall see what he does as a HC

  24. SufferingSince76 Says:

Anonymous/Chris, whoever you are, there’s no history of the Bucs being a dirty team. Your team, on the other hand, has a history of and reputation for dirty play. Can you say Bountygate? Only scum agrees to do that crap. It’s a rep you can never live down.

  25. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

The Saints have always matched up well against us, especially on defense.
They have a way of turning a football game into a street fight, that they usually win.

  26. Biff Barker Says:

If it’s Brady’s job to figure out how to beat the Saints Joe, what does BA and BL do?

  27. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

I hate the Saints. Really need to turn it around against them. I think Tom will figure them out this year.

  28. Bucs Guy Says:

Falcons-Saints have been rivals since they were both in the NFC West. For you youngsters, that was when there were only 3 divisions and 13 teams in the NFC before the Bucs became a team in 1976.

Bucs-Panthers really became a rivalry in 2003 after the Bucs first SB win.

  29. Bucs Guy Says:

NFC East – Dallas, Washington, NY Giants, Philadelphia, St. Louis Cardinals
NFC North – Same as today
NFC West – LA Rams, San Francisco, Falcons, Saints

  30. Aaron Says:

Lol thats because when y’all play us is he the best naw don’t think so done shutout him sweep him since he came to the nfc south plus its Shady brady a flatten cheating baby lol

  31. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Saints are one of the few remaining defenses which maintain a dirty smash mouth style that Ravens successfully used against NE many times.

Because of rule changes and the new speed at WR TE RB etc many defenses changed to finesse point prevention with occasional major hit.

Saints still plays that dirty style which injures and frustrates teams like Tampa whom don’t play with the same grit.

  32. Bucs&Bolts Says:

It was so great to beat their ass in the playoffs ! We need to dominate them!

  33. Bucs Guy Says:

AFC East – Miami, New England, Baltimore Colts (now Indianapolis Colts), NY Jets, Buffalo
AFC North – Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland Browns (now Baltimore Ravens), Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans)
AFC West – Oakland (now Las Vegas Raiders), KC, Denver, San Diego (now LA Chargers)

  34. Oneilbuc Says:

New England fan. It’s not dirty It’s call being physical and aggressive wich is part of the game. How many more rules do you people want. That hit on Godwin was not a dirty play . This is why you can’t call none of these players today the goat in no sports but boxing or tennis or golf. These sports are soft because the America people in this new generation has been raised to be soft and weak.

  35. Bucs Guy Says:

New expansion teams over the years awarded by the NFL
Seattle and Tampa Bay – 1976
    Carolina and Jacksonville – 1995
    Cleveland – 1999
    Houston – 2002

  36. ErikTheViking Says:

Joe – “Brady has not solved the riddle that is the Saints”

Except when it mattered most in the playoffs en route to the NFC championship and a Superbowl title.

Please stay in reality. Your make believe fantasies make for poor sports journalism.

  37. James G Arntz Says:

The problem is the ‘scripted plays’ our O/C dreams up to start the game. The Bucs start so slow against the aints, then Brady takes over and moves the chains.
Just need a better game plan to start with.

  38. Listnfrmafar Says:

BA has not solved the riddle. Brady has beaten the Saints in the past same with Rams.

  39. SPARKY Says:

Brady ran over to their sideline and yelled at Allen to go f×ck himself, he did it because he thought they were going after his receivers. They got Godwin and Lenny. I think beating the Saints is high on Brady’s list.

  40. SlyPirate Says:

    0-9

Defense did its job but zero points? This was the SEVENTH regular season loss in a row. The Saints issue is older than TB12. It’s a BA issue. BA and BL are outcoached by the Saints.

    Hint: They know your plays.

  41. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs Guy there was not an “NFC North” before expansion the last time; it was the NFC Central…Bucs, Pack, Vikes, Lions, Bears, Bucs won a few Central titles last century

  42. Beeej Says:

Saints routinely control the line of scrimmage against us

  43. cover deuce Says:

Idk seems pretty measured to me. He’s not exactly wrong. It’s not like he wrote the book on how to make life difficult on good QBs. You drop as many as you can and hope you can get 3 or 4 man pass rush in his face. It’s not easy but they’ve got the personnel to do it week in and week out. Bucs gotta solve it and the best way to do that is establish an effective run game.

  44. unbelievable Says:

Saying that a fellow team isn’t your biggest rivalry compared to another one (who is much worse) is such an under the radar insult… lol Man do I hate the Saints. Much more than Falcons or Panthers.

    Just a dirty, disgusting team.

Love that city, but hate hate hate their football team.

Really hope we can come out on top this year. The last 6 regular season games against them have been downright embarrassing.

(Though I’ll take a playoff win over a reg season win, any day, of course.)

  45. Bucsfanman Says:

OK, fair enough. The Saints have owned the Bucs of late. Different times though. The Saints no longer have a HOF QB to cover for mistakes.
Like Philly, we’ll figure them out and that’ll be the end of it.
    First step: Beat the Saints!

  46. Buc1987 Says:

Oneilbuc…the only thing soft is you.

    There’s nothing “soft”about playing football.

Peeps get hurt all the time…real injuries.

    Go Bucs!!!

  47. NCBucfan Says:

I really hope we have the #1 seed locked up and don’t play them til the end of the season. Like the panthers last year, we didn’t play them until week 16 and 18. I would consider sitting a lot of starters, because the slimey saints play dirty and look to injure!

  48. AlvaFan Says:

Saints beat the 2002 Bucs twice in route to their first SB win so this stuff been going on too long. Of course us older fans remember what team we beat to break the streak and give us our first win

  49. Duane Says:

I understand the history the other teams in the division have with each other, and I can understand why this franchise has not been considered much of a rival since it has performed so poorly during the lost decade+. If Allen wants to see Atlanta and the qb stylings of Mariota to require the most attention, more power to him. While he is living in the past, someone should remind him Payton and Brees are no longer around.

  50. Aaron Says:

I agree with SlyPirate – this is a BA and BL problem.

What’s really bad in the 9 – 0 game last year…the Saints had so much confidence in their Defense to shut down Brady – they stopped playing offense. Kind of how we used to play back in the day.

We beat the Saints in the playoffs with Defensive turnovers that we returned deep into their territory.

Until we prove other wise I’m marking down the Saints as 2 losses…and the Rams…we suck and our game plans suck when we play those teams. I know its about the players but we get out coached by a big margin in those games.

5 Receiver sets and tell Tom to win it is not a game plan against the best teams in this league.

    GO Bucs!

Will Smith another ENTITLED victim …… hey Will quit acting and going to the Oscar’s and no one will judge you and you can even bang your sons friends !!

Btw my wife is bald and people have had fun with it , like calling her Olive !! Poor Clown Ass Will !!

For all the Bucs weapons, and GOAT returning as QB, the Offensive playcalling seems to always be uncreative. I’m not talking trickery but the ability to fool the defense on critical plays when needed. A white bread offense while Lefleur seems to always seems (seemed, thankfully) to run a play which always catches the opposing defense flat-footed, usually with Davante and Rodgers running (acting) a diversionary play.

With all the Bucs’ weapons, it’d be nice and demoralizing for opponents to be on the receiving end of such plays. With the 4th toughest NFL schedule coming up, it would behoove Tom and BL to come up with a dozen or so of these creative plays to pull out when needed. As for trickery, we’ve seen the highlights of Russell Gage throwing a 39-yard TD strike to fellow receiver (and just suspended

Perhaps the GOAT is itching to make up for that drop against Philly in the SB ; )

You’re an idiot. These guys are bigger, faster, stronger and have higher p.e.d. testing than people from the late 90’s on down. The only thing that is soft and weak is your mentality.

It’s real easy. You pay your defensive players a cash bonus or “bounty” for taking out the bucs top players.

  58. Stone crab sam Says:

I watched that saints Bucs game. Clearly the saints defensive backs were consistently targeting Bucs players at the knee cap everytime possible. That hit on Godwin was a cheep shot. Always ways, always will be. Regardless of what the experts said. It got to the point the gronk was laughing at them for repeated cheepshot near misses. Brady saw this and personally spoke to their head coach. I fully expect a complete battle the next time these two teams lace it up. I just hope our Bucs will be up for the challenge to man up this time….

  59. Rod Munch Says:

It’s pretty easy to play defense when you just yank down the receivers on every play. They know the refs won’t call it on every single play, so they do it every single play and the averages end up working in their favor.

  60. Eckwood Says:

    Anonymous you are correct !!

    1. any of these players
    2. in any sports
    3. have been raised soft

    We are not talking typos

Some things are more important than sports and some of those things are molding our country into a complete embarrassing disaster .

Again !!You are Correct !! ….Some are raised soft and some just aren’t raised !!!

  61. Buczilla Says:

Sean Payton is gone and he was arguably the best coach in the game. If Jameis has one of his 3-4 games per year where he looks like Dan Marino against us, then we’re in trouble. Otherwise, I don’t sweat these dudes and they almost always choke when it matters. Jameis just compounds that problem for them.

Brady is the best ever regardless of position and its not even close. F the saints and their new lousy coach.

  63. jay adams Says:

Yes they got us during the reg. Season but when it counted the most Brady and company got them in the playoffs on the way to the S.Bowl. I’ll take that vs 2 reg season losses any day
