Peter King: “42 Percent Chance” Tom Brady Returns

March 3rd, 2022

Tom Brady speaks

Joe has learned an awful lot this week at the NFL Scouting Combine from all kinds of NFL power players, coaches, etc.

So Joe can only imagine what NBC super insider Peter King has been soaking in while he roams the halls of the Indiana Convention Center.

King hopped on Pro Football Talk and talked to ProFootballTalk.com creator and fellow insider Mike Florio. And it was there this week that King said he believes that there’s “a 42 percent chance” Tom Brady will return to the field of play. King didn’t say this season, but that was the implication. And King did not reject the notion floated by Florio that Brady isn’t really retired, as if he’s just retired from Tampa Bay and is waiting out his future.

Joe asked Bucco Bruce Arians this week whether he’s been poking Brady by text or phone to come back. Arians said he is but didn’t offer details, other than to quip that he’s challenged Brady to a winner-take-all golf match (if Arians wins, Brady plays).

None of this is a laughing matter. Joe knows there are a lot of NFL believers who think Brady could be simply playing a calculated game — perhaps with his family and the Bucs — one whose goal is to land with a team not in Tampa.

Joe buys the message Arians is imparting when he said, “family always wins.”

Joe translates that as Brady’s wife not allowing/wanting him to play any longer. Joe actually hopes that’s the case because, if so, there’s a strong chance she will change her mind when she sees how unhappy he is when he’s not playing catch this spring with Mike Evans.

    42%????

    Why 42 and not 45? or 23?

    What’s the formula?

Jesus H Christ….This so called experts are a bunch of jokers!!!!

  2. Niles Says:

    Stop it. Just stop it.

  3. westernbuc Says:

Lol at all these dudes quitting football to spend time with their families. Your kids aren’t that special. Let him free Gisele, football is more important than whatever plans you have with him

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Peter King is more optimistic than TBBF. I give Brady a 41% chance of returning..

What a crock of bull$it this is!!!

  5. Marine Buc Says:

I wonder how Tom Brady felt after we drafted Kyle Trask in the second round last year instead of drafting a WR or a better RB?

I know publicly he was supportive. But I always wondered if that was his genuine reaction.

  6. sasquatch Says:

More click-generating nonsense. NFL Speculation Industrial Complex always wins. Brady’s retirement and subsequent wishy-washiness has been great for NFL offseason business.

As for the possibility of his return, it’s not happening… unless he explicitly says it. I’m not holding my breath. More interested in reality than fantasy.

  7. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

All of this BS is going to put a dent albeit small in to Brady’s legacy. Seems to me that he could do one interview and clear all of this up. He is starting to act like DQ Rodgers

  8. cmurda Says:

I understand that Brady sells and he is the GOAT but let us move on. I thought I created a moment of silence for TB12 so that we can all move on and talk about who we should get as our new QB, what to do to replace CD24 if he goes, Marpet retirement. We have 99 problems and Brady is only 1. i still believe reload. Think back at Bucs team in the past. Even after the departures this team will be better than virtually every one of them. Reload. I trust Licht.
PS If Arians relationship was so bad with TB tell me why he would joke about a winner take all golf event. I continue to not buy any of the nonsense. Moving on over here. The tears have dried up. It’s time to start making some moves baby!

  9. cmurda Says:

Joe. Dude these censors are ********************************************************************************************************************************************. I just wrote 40 curse words in aterisks. Tell me what I said in the previous post. I guess I must be “edgy”. Most of the time I have to play detective to figure out what non offesnive word I have to change. Get your censors to man up a little bit. Snowflake censor crap.

  10. SC Bucs Fan Says:

As long as we get something for his rights let him go

  11. SufferingSince76 Says:

He’s an ass hat if that’s his plan. It would be almost as pissy as Aaron Rodgers.

I hope you don’t have any kids.

  13. fern Says:

Gents is more like a 50% only 2 choices and I don’t have to roam anywhere

  14. BuxfaninTX Says:

    Fake news….

  15. Adam's Angry Says:

Can we please summarily agree to ignore any of these “Tom Brady MIGHT come back….” bullcr#p stories? Especially the ones that say he’s going to sit out a year. Those are the dumbest ones yet. The guy is 44 years old. Every year he sits out, he loses a little bit MORE of his abilities than he would have had he just powered through.

These are GUTLESS predictions by GUTLESS hacks.

  16. New England Patriots Fan Says:

It’s Tampa or Miami he’s coming back if possible only attempted to retire from Tampa not the NFL.

  17. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brady is NOT a deceitful guy. There has to be a reason he is not fulfilling his contract. Sure it could be Giselle saw him get cracked it the face by Von Miller (by the way.the EXACT same thing happened to Roger’s by Miller and he got the call, EXACT only no blood), and she said enough or something happened internally, I can’t think of any other reason, he boast that he wanted to play until 45 and Super G new that. If Gronk goes to Buffalo then you know Brady if he plays will be in San Fran because they already have the TE.

  18. Proud Bucs Fan Says:

Some need to start asking is, who wants to play for bruce arrogance?

  19. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

    So you’re telling me there’s a chance!? 😆

  20. NashvilleBuc Says:

42 because 42 is the Answer to Life The Universe and Everything according to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s a joke.

    ^^^^^^^
Do you remember who was the Coach when Brady signed with the Bucs? The best ever, that’s who.

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Trask is currently the #1 option.
Door #2 is a trade according to Arians. The question is…who will they trade for?

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

For my money, I say replace Marpet (Saints are going to release a bunch of good players), Keep Jensen. That will set the oline.

DL is going to need some work, but Licht can handle it. He may as well keep an eye open for an heir to David too.

    New England Patriots Fan Says

Yo, you better consider finding the nearest hospital. You aren’t making sense. Wait. New England fan? Nevermind. You’re perfectly fine.

  25. New England Patriots Fan Says:

He retired from Tampa not the NFL, he’s doing this to leave a contract he only signed to spread a cap hit in 2021 so Tampa could return 22 starters. He did his two years in Tampa now he is trying to work he way out of Tampa to Miami.

That’s the story want to play in Miami building mansion in Miami and being offered ownership stake in Miami.

Nearly every other NFL a news site covered this Miami story it even made it into the Flores lawsuit when Ross tried to use Flores to recruit Brady.

Brady wants to play, just not on Tampa as he doesn’t like how the offense was run and wants to beat up on NE for 2 years to get revenge on Kraft and Bill from playoffs, then become a executive or owner in Miami and beat up on NE for a decade longer.

  26. TBD Says:

    Lol… to last post…. wrong.

  27. sasquatch Says:

    ^^more speculative mind-numbing nonsense.

  28. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Brady is done! He will be starting his acting career now or whatever. And if he comes back this year it’s with our Bucs and no1 else.

  29. T REX Says:

He’s not coming back to a significantly WORSE buc team.

    Stop it.

  30. SlyPirate Says:

    42% TB12 returns
    45% Godwin healed

So, if you have no idea about something, you’re 40% sure of it. Let’s get ahead of next week’s articles.

Bucs resign Carlton Davis – 47%
Bucs resign Alex Cappa – 48%
    Bucs resign Whitehead – 43%
Bucs trading for Watson – 41%

  31. Tony Says:

Only one QB gonna be starting for us next year.

    BRETT FAVRE

He’s coming out of retirement. Once he found out Brady was gonna retire he called Arians & told him he would come out of retirement & play for the Bucs.

  32. sasquatch Says:

100% chance Brady speculation is idiotic.

  33. Proud Bucs Fan Says:

42% is about the max effort succo bruce arrogance puts into his job.

  34. Infomeplease Says:

SC BUC F er, “as long as we get something for his rights, let Brady go”
You must have not taken your meds today!!!!!!! No team as good as this one is letting TB12 go!!!!!! Simple math .. TB12 + this team + less injuries= another Super Bowl run!!!!!

  35. DoooshLaRue Says:

    WesternBuc,

Thank you, it needed to be said.

  36. ChiBuc Says:

It’s all 100% bs. 42% could not be more random.

  37. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

He may want to come back this year, but we hold all the cards.
Tampa would have to be satisfied before Brady goes anywhere, and Arians said the price is 5 Number 1 Picks.

  38. Stone crab sam Says:

Give bradys chitlens 60 days with daddy and they’ll be happy to see him back on the field post haste, guaranteed 59%😂

  39. steele Says:

42%. About as sane as social distancing 6 ft instead of 5.9 ft or 6.1 ft. I don’t place stock in Peter King, Jim Gray or any other headline-creating MSM blowhard.

I don’t want to think Brady is “manuevering”, because it would be a tacky LeBron type of behavior that is also stupid. TB12 could have almost anything he wants by asking for it. Just speak up. Or not.

I’m for Geez. Just stay retired. Go make bad movies, and let this team move on.

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This could very well win the “most absurd” headline award.

  41. SB Says:

    Smoke season guys. C’mon now.

  42. Bold DG Says:

If Brady wants to come back (and play for the Bucs) and that’s a big IF, he has to decide very soon and before his weapons go elsewhere. As skilled players leave the probability of 12 returning diminishes.
I’m 90% sure we will know prior to free agency.

  43. Erick Says:

It’s really mind blowing how so many of you refuse to believe he doesn’t want to play in Tampa anymore.

  44. Carlos S Alvarez Says:

He is waiting to see , who they signed and not sign, in free agency to make his decision. If it’s a team that can go to the end , he probably comes back.

  45. VSyl Says:

42% I think that’s wrong. It’s 43% instead…Seriously, how do they come up with such BS numbers

  46. steele Says:

“Welp. So much for me coming back.” -T Brady upon hearing about Marpet. He repeats same after Jensen goes. And with every other weapon that flies away. Because he is gone. Or “gone”. It is self-sabotage for Brady to be gone, if he ever wanted the Bucs in SB form for a third go round.

  47. Oddball Says:

    3.14159265359 %. Plus 15% – minus 3%, but plus 11% if Gronk returns.

  48. Ghost of Ben Says:

    BlahahHa

  49. GOB Says:

    This is tremendous

  50. Eric Says:

The bucs gave Tom everything he wanted and he walked away. He talked about how much he liked it here then high tailed it to Miami.

Thanks for the super bowl it was fabulous, time to move on. its getting unseemly.

  51. adam from ny Says:

guys usually quit football to spend quality time with hookers, tarts, harlots, prostitutes, working girls, street walkers, wenches and ladies of the evening…

and to hit the chinese buffets hard and more often

  52. adam from ny Says:

right about now tom is throwing darts at a giant fathead of peter king…

and laughing about it on a speakerphone call with gronky

  53. adam from ny Says:

    plain and simple…………

    “tom ghosted the bucs”

  54. lambchop Says:

Gisella, as I like to call her.

  55. orlbucfan Says:

Hope TB12 drops dead. Good riddance.

  56. Oneilbuc Says:

Orlbucfan. I don’t want Brady back now I’m not going to say drop dead but I agree with the good riddance 💯!!

  57. Drunkinybor Says:

Why not 42 or 43 percent? Oh I get it he will be right jo matter what. Its time to move on all this absurd conjecture is fart fodder for clicks and a
A wat to gill paragraphs! I don’t want any player on my team to be indecisive wondering if he made the right decision after getting sacked by a 300 lb D lineman. I am dick yo death of this wild speculation. Will ge wont he Im irritated he keeps playing mind games# I love ya Brady but its time to move on. We still have one of THE most talented rosters in the league.
