“It Was Tampa Or Nowhere”

March 14th, 2022

Tampa Bay only option.

Boy, several heavy hitters got badly played.

When Tom Brady retired, someone planted inaccurate intel with big-shot NFL media guys that Joe both respects and admires. That would be Peter King and Adam Schefter. They (and others) peddled the notion that there was a rift between Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians and that led Brady to retire.

(No, “this Joe” isn’t going to give Colin Cowherd credit for being wrong. That’s the norm for that guy. Always remember and never forget he boasts that being “interesting” is more important than accuracy. So when the dude is right, he’s wrong.)

Former NFL coffee fetcher and NFL suit Michael Lombardi, who worked with Brady in New England and gives off the whiff that he is a Brady insider, said he never bought into the “conspiracies” that Brady and Arians weren’t bosom buddies and that helped drive Brady into retirement.

Lombardi noted that if there was a disagreement in how the Bucs can better their offense during an offseason, that’s possible and is really the norm. When you get two or more folks in a room to discuss strategy, not everyone will agree every day.

So Lombardi believes the rumors of Brady forcing a trade and to another team this year was just nonsense.

“It was Tampa or nowhere,” Lombardi said.

You can see Lombardi’s full take on Brady’s return in the VSiN video below.

LOL it worked. None of the past matters now. GOAT is back and it is going to be the best season yet. Fun for all and all for FUN!

    LFG

  2. zzbucs Says:

    Mr Joe,

Never forget about Mike Florio, who was also the wrong guy here!!!

He was also saying about the relationship between Arians and TB12 was with some noise!!!

Also he said that TB12 retired from the Bucs and not NFL…..and he was moving towards 49ers!!!!

    Another joker!!!

  3. HC Grover Says:

I want to find out how to get a Bucs online streaming ticket so I do not have to just listen on the radio to some of the games.

  4. Rod Munch Says:

Yeah, but if Brady doesn’t sign an extension, it’s just more proof he hates Arians, hates Licht and hates Tampa….

  5. Bird Says:

Wow. A bunch of the patriot (buc) posters on here should maybe sit this one out for a while

Even yesterday claiming brady was angling for a trade to 49ers
    😂

  6. D-Rok Says:

Now that the nightmare is over, and the dream is back on, as a fan I’m going to relish and cherish each game this team and Brady delivers this year. Truly, this might be his last year, and we get to accept that fact more so this year than last. Let’s see how much of a championship team can be formed in the next few months. I’m optimistic and excited!

    GO BUCS!!

  7. EricTheViking Says:

We have a revitalized TB12. Time for another deep playoff run. LFG!!!

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Where has List been…..Proud Buc Fan?…….let’s hear from you…..your daily multiple posts about how bad BA is and how he ran off Brady & AB….

    Crickets now!!!

  9. SOEbuc Says:

Who’d thought the single sports player to ever show Tampa Bay respect would be the GOAT. Luv ya Tom.

  10. LOL Says:

Christian Kirk just signed for 21m/yr Get Godwin Signed NOW!!!!! Give him 22m/yr today and get this done Bucs. Need to free up some cap space to get the rest of the roster filled

Christian Kirk just signed for 21m/yr

    ———

Wow, typical Jags, what a bunch of morons. Kirk isn’t even that good, he’s a borderline starter. No way they gave him $21m/yr. That’s insane even for the inept idiots in Jacksonville.

  12. Francisco Guzman Says:

How dumb are the Jaguars? 21 million for a guy that has never gotten 1000 yards. A massive overpay and ridiculous!!!!!

Can we just stop it with Brady? He is retired until he isn’t.

I will say this….it makes zero sense for him to come back and play for another team….new coaches, new teammates, new offense….new city…..why?

Oh, I’ve figured it out….the chance to win a SB with 3 different teams.

  14. Francisco Guzman Says:

Rod Much seriously this is why i hate these dumb teams! They drive up the price paying these average football players. Just a joke.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

I missed this news, but Davante Adams says he won’t play on the franchise tag. How great would it be if he just sat out the year and MVS was Rodgers top WR. LOL!

But it won’t happen, Adams will sign a longterm deal of course. But if Kirks is worth $21m/y, what the hell is Adams worth, $30m/y?

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

So what happened to the knowitall Boston Mafia who proclaimed insider wisdom, calling BA “ammonia brain” and proclaiming Brady hated Arians? Not that I care, it’s just hilarious when someone(s) is (are) so wrong as to be of biblical proportion.

  17. Joe Says:

I want to find out how to get a Bucs online streaming ticket so I do not have to just listen on the radio to some of the games.

Until next year, you currently have to have DirecTV to have Sunday Ticket. And it is GLORIOUS!

  18. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Imagine the deep burn in the pit of the stomachs of Mr. Craft, Bellicheat and all the fans waiting for Tom to come back and do a statutory contract so he could retire as a Patriot when he announced he was coming BACK to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!!! I mean they drafted and he played there for 20 seasons! Should have seen this coming when he didn’t. Oh well another season with Patriot fans on this here Bucs fan site. 🙄 Having the 🐐 of🐐🐐🐐 slinging and winning for us for 1 or 2 more seasons will alleviate some of that pain! Maybe Brady was saying to Kraft & COACH Bestbelieveicheat in the immortal words of Jimmy Jack on another post(and by the way of Independence Day) UP YOOUURRS!!!!

  19. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

The media getting played? That was always the norm while you know who was in office. I LOVE IT when they get played.

  20. Francisco Guzman Says:

It’s actually 4 years for 72 million for christian kirk with an extra 12 million in incentives. Still 18 million for christian kirk is an overpay!

  21. James Craig Marlow Says:

Imagine that. The media gets it wrong.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Francisco … ‘Still 18 million for christian kirk is an overpay!’

Then again, that’s why the Jags are the Jags. Until they can establish a rep as a true winning franchise, they’ll keep having to overpay for average talent. Just like we did for years until Brady arrived?

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady returning will make Big Ben happy…..won’t have to enter HOF with him.
    What QB would want to?
Let’s hope Brady gets in the HOF in 2030.

  24. Francisco Guzman Says:

De’vondre Campbell back with the packers. 5 years for 50 million. Don’t know how they’re doing it. So much for the cap.

    =============

Actually, you can sign-up for online only Sunday Ticket… This is there disclaimer, but I signed up for it years ago and I live in a house with a clear sky view and all I did was have to check a button that ‘verified’ I couldn’t get service. Just posting this to be useful, and you’re paying full price, so it’s not cheap.

*NFL SUNDAY TICKET TV service is only available to non-DIRECTV customers who live in select multi-dwelling unit buildings (apartments, condos, etc,) nationwide in the U.S. where DIRECTV service is not available, live in select areas within various metropolitan cities, live in a residence that has been verified as unable to receive DIRECTV satellite TV service due to obstructions blocking access to satellite signals, or are college students.

  27. Bird Says:

    Jags throwing around stupid money

They got linebacker from falcons with jacked up name. Dude had 192 tackles last year. Wouldn’t be surprised if jags sign carlton davis

Falcons are gonna suck next year

  28. Steven007 Says:

Munch, currently the highest paid receiver in the league is DeAndre Hopkins at 27 per year. I heard this morning that Adams wants to be the highest paid receiver which would obviously make it close to a 30-per year deal. That’s just too pricey. And that Kirk deal is ludicrous. Hoping the Brady effect coupled with coming off an injury will keep Chris’s contract demands relatively reasonable.

  29. Francisco Guzman Says:

Haven’t heard anything on Carlton Davis and JC Jackson. Makes me wonder about the market when it comes to these guys. Also this draft is filled with corners this year.

  30. Francisco Guzman Says:

Steven007 the packers just signed Campbell to a 5 year 50 million contract. That’s 10 million per year. Don’t know how the packers are getting this cash.

  31. Its a Bucs Life Says:

If Arians was a better coach or better at handling big personalities I don’t think Brady ever would’ve partially retired.

The emotion of one of Arians coaching pupils blowing any chance at a Super Bowl with being unable to stop Kupp or the Rams offense combined with the AB situation being blown up by Arians probably wore Brady down. Add in the constant media speculation of what he is gonna do he made a snap judgment and regretted it.

If anyone think’s Arians is an elite coach, you don’t know the game. His system needs to be modified and it needs some new wrinkles. His scheme doesn’t design plays for guys to get open, it relies on talented WR’s winning their matchups. The offense struggles when it faces quality defenses as Leftwich isn’t smart enough to adjust the scheme to get guys open like great coaches do.

Bucs coaching needs to be better in 2022

  32. ChiBuc Says:

@DavidBigBucFan99, what a petty post. I’m no pats/kraft/belacheat fan, but is it possible to simply celebrate in TB’s return without having to wish ill will to others? Sad that “up yours” is a quote that resonates with you… clever

  33. Francisco Guzman Says:

Its a Bucs Life the defense needs improvement. You gotta be able to cover wideouts.

  34. Francisco Guzman Says:

I am starting to wonder about the market for carlton davis. Can you say he’s elite? We play a lot to zone. I don’t think he’s gonna get the big money he’s looking for . Idk.

  35. Anonymous Says:

The only ones getting played would be the Glazer’s, if you want to consider re-negotiating for a Man U ownership percentage or an NFL team, Munich?, for Gretchen. I am sure that the GOAT wasn’t renegotiating, just looking out for #12 and family,. Erin Rodgers renegotiates and TRIES to play his games.

  36. YucstoBucs Says:

I keep hearing to bring back Suh, JPP, and Gholston? Maybe Suh, but believe the others can be replaced for cheaper guys .. ala Justin Houston, but just thinking aloud could we trade LVD or Shaq ? I think David looked lost and could number 9 replace Shaq who’s more of a linebacker. I think David’s best years are behind him and just look at the last two plays against the team we gave the SB to ? Pumped about Brady and Jensen, but now it’s time to be like the Bolts and cut money and replace players younger who bring just as much talent at a cheaper price. CD24 I’m ok with leaving because I’ve never been big on that guys play and also struggles to stay healthy. Solid FAs out there who would love to come to Tamps not just because of the weather and taxes, but to play with Tommy

  39. BradyBucs Says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE announce that Carlton Davis is signing with another team.

Then it’s REALLY time to party!

I can’t believe how many Bucs fans buy into the HYPE that Carlton, Dean, SMB are somehow good NFL cover guys. “Stats” alone never tell the full story. One can just watch games and see how many times these guys get burned on 3rd and long, miss easy tackles, and even do stupid things to get personal foul penalties.

We need FRESH BLOOD in the secondary or this mediocre Pass Defense will still be mediocre at best and will keep us from another Super Bowl.

  40. Pickgrin Says:

So where the hell is LisntfromabasementinNE today? The know it all Pats fan who had all the “inside info” on why Brady hated Bruce Arians and would never play for the Bucs again….

Lisnt – ‘choo got some ‘splaining to do….

Better yet – just wallow in your shame for being SOOOO wrong – You need to stay gone and never post on JBF again.

“If anyone think’s Arians is an elite coach, you don’t know the game.”

Not many on this site have been calling Arians an elite coach. Many like me have been saying he is a good coach. How do you change a bad offensive line to a great offensive line without coaching? How did Wirfs become all pro and Donovan Smith become good without good coaching?

So who are the elite coaches?

By the way, maybe you can read up and look through all the different offensive systems that Arians has utilized in his career before you attack his knowledge base. It is better than most of the coaches in the NFL — that seems pretty certain to me.

  42. Jerry Says:

Mike Florio still thinks there is a rift between Brady and Arians.

  43. YucstoBucs Says:

Why is JPP, Suh, and Gholston a priority to bring back ? Maybe Suh, but a lot a FA would love to come to Tamps because of the weather, tax breaks, and to say they played with Tom. Also with David on the Decline and Shaq being one dimensional would they look at trading or cutting those guys ? Just thinking out loud and think Joe Tryon could step in for Shaq at a way less price and love LVD, but his solid years are behind him and I don’t think he played great last year and just look at the Rams game, but didn’t know what others thought and totally ok with CD24 leaving because I never was a huge fan with his play and health. Go Bucs

  44. YucstoBucs Says:

Justin Houston would be nice and draft either a shut down corner or day one OL starter ? The grave diggers weren’t very good and I understand the team struggled with health, but a lot of those guys are young. Maybe make a trade or two to revamp the Achilles Heal of the 2021 team?

  45. Rod Munch Says:

geno711 – yeah, I was being sarcastic, mocking the people who said Brady would quit rather than play for Arians, and how they’ll now stick by their story and say Brady is just playing out his contract because he has too and he wants to be anywhere but Tampa.

  46. Rod Munch Says:

    ——–

Of course he does. There always has to be drama with fake news Florio.

  47. Infomeplease Says:

The media… Some are knowledgeable, some are entertaining, some are pleasing to the eyes, some are automatically controversial, some are just plan stupid and have great agents!!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  48. Buczilla Says:

Pompous, holier than thou buffoons like King (Schefter seems cool), see the world as they’d like it to be and not the way in reality, it is. Dudes like King (Florio is getting there) still have their panties in a bunch at the fact that Brady would lower himself to play for our team. Luckily, morons like this are going the way of the dinosaur.

  49. Francisco Guzman Says:

I would not bring suh back. No way. The only guy maybe is JPP. He will be healthy and does a nice job setting the edge.

  50. YucstoBucs Says:

@francisco who would have to take a massive pay cut, but is maybe looking at turning the page on LVD or Shaq crazy ? I just don’t think they are worth all that loot especially with Joe Tryon possibly having a breakout year

  51. Francisco Guzman Says:

YucstoBucs you have to stick with them!! If i am the bucs i look to sign a veteran corner and draft a corner with the first pick. Bring back JPP he will be healthy. He wasn’t healthy last year. Also maybe bring someone to replace suh on the left side.

  52. SB Says:

We need FRESH BLOOD in the secondary or this mediocre Pass Defense will still be mediocre at best and will keep us from another Super Bowl.

    …..

    Idiot!!!!
Then when they have rookie struggles you will say they suck and Licht sucks and BA sucks.
Understand real football or get another life.

  53. YucstoBucs Says:

@fransisco I hope you are right because the corners and LBs were a liability, but yes drafting a real shut down corner or trading for one and OL is very important!! I’m just not sold on Shaq and David who cost 30 plus million?

  54. Defense Rules Says:

YucstoBucs … Bucs defensive interior has performed quite well over the last 3 years. PFF grades them out each year, but couldn’t find any rankings for the 2021 season yet. But entering 2021 here’s how the Bucs interior graded out:

    7. VITA VEA, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Vea is the rare nose tackle who can get after the quarterback in addition to eating blocks and securing his gaps in the run game. He is one of just three players with a pass-rush win rate above 15.0% when lined up over or shading the center since 2019. The Buccaneers remained mostly healthy last season on their Super Bowl run, but Vea being out for most of the campaign was not an insignificant hurdle to overcome en route to the Lombardi Trophy.

    25. NDAMUKONG SUH, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Suh has been an iron man since entering the league in 2010. He has never played fewer than 800 snaps in a season in his 11-year NFL career and is coming off nearly 1,000 snaps played with Tampa Bay in 2020 at 33 years old. That durability is a big reason why he was one of the 10 most valuable interior defenders in the NFL last season despite his quality of play tailing off slightly these past two years in Tampa Bay.

They only graded the Top-32, so 2 players in there is quite good I think. Most teams don’t give up guys like that, so replacements via free agency can be hard to find (and quite expensive?). Personally I’d bring Suh back as a part-time rotational guy AND draft his DT replacement in the Top-2 Rnds this year so he can mentor him for a year. I’d also re-sign Gholston, but not McLendon (the draft pick replaces him).

  55. Listnfrmafar Says:

Wait, every day I read get off this site, you suck, you’re not a Bucs fan etc. Now you’re complaining I don’t post. What a fickle bunch. You can’t tell me Brady wasn’t disgruntled when the season ended minimum pissed about how the Rams game ended and that’s just as much on BA as Toilet Bowles. I’m glad you missed me and I look forward to posting for another season. I will say this I received texts from many people when Brady unretired and there are a LOT of people that are happy he’s back and even more happy if the Bopsy twins Brady and Gronk reunited. It’s far more fun watching the Bucs these days over the Pat’s. Go Bucs!

  56. SB Says:

Nobody can tell you anything Listn. That is the problem.
    Now Go Away!

  57. Mike C Says:

Hahaha Listnfrmafar “Now you’re complaining I don’t post” to dumb to get sarcasm? NO ONE is fickle here, the door can hit you otw out.

  58. YucstoBucs Says:

@defenserules we need corners and was just seeing what Buc fans thought about the two highest paid defensive players on the team and if they were worth it ? Happy to see CD24 go and now it’s time to revamp the corners and others .. can’t be young like that and get injured. Appreciate the stats, but watching that D was brutal last year and yes Mclendon needs to go !!! Draft or trade a number corner and hopefully in the later rounds snatch a DT

  59. Goatfarmer Says:

Now Brady’s 40 day retirement is Arians’ fault according to another Pasco County genius. LOL. Sure.

That’s why Tom unretired. People and their own personal “truths” based on no facts and only pure antagonist conjecture and envy – it’s the dumber world we live in.

  60. Anonymous Says:

I love seeing that know nothing List eat a big dish of crow. I only wish his Pats were not so irrelevant then he would not have to troll here. But atleast i get to watch him pretend to be an “insider” yet get everything wrong for another season.

  61. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I imagine a lot of media types are back peddling.

  62. mark2001 Says:

So much for the Arians haters. Tommy isn’t obviously with you guys.

  63. mark2001 Says:

Let’s face it… Rodgers and Adams want a third of the total team salary cap money this year. Talk about kicking the can down the road, or fielding a team with rookies and third tier FA’s. And then when the team doesn’t have the horses to advance at the end of he year, whose fault will it be? The rest of the team’s, of course.

  64. Listnfrmafar Says:

  68. Oneilbuc Says:

Mark2001. BA can’t develop a quarterback and now everyone can see it. And as for me I still hate he came back only because of his age. And next year at this time it will be a panic on this site on who is going to be behind the center. Just know one thing Trask will be the starter next year because we will win to many games to draft one of the top quarterbacks. And now we have deal with the Patriots fans another year and I hate Patriots fans who’s trying to be bucs because of Brady.

  69. David Says:

Munch and Guzman… Exactly my thoughts – that would be awesome if D Adams sat out but it’s not going to happen. They’re going to get him between 25 to 30 mil a year and spread it out. They’ll have half their salary cap for Rodgers and Adams and then Rogers will wonder why they don’t win a Super Bowl. LOL

Meanwhile the Jaguars sign the receiver to a big contract and I thought… Who?
I hate to see it because I think Trevor Lawrence is really good. I hope they get the coaching and management in place for him. The best thing he has going for him so far is Urban Meyer is gone and Travis Etienne is back. He was his safety valve and college

Every other hour a check to see if they announce Gronk or Whitehead has signed yet.
Gronk has me nervous because they need a tight end and he’s an awesome blocker. The allure to play in his hometown his last year or two with a team that could win a Super Bowl must be pretty strong

  70. Eddie Marz Says:

Hope we get Gronk back also. It won’t be the same if he leaves. GOBUCS!

  71. cmurda Says:

Let me be among the first to say a big eff u to all the Pats fans. If you want to ride the Brady wave, jump aboard but don’t go around acting like you are Bucs fans. You can stand idly by and quietly enjoy the GOAT. There’s far too many real Bucs fans that waited too long to have some entitled Patriot faithful, TB12 bandwagon, fairweather, crybaby, spoiled brat, vomit-inducing chowder-heads pipe up about our glorious franchise. GO BUCS!

  72. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

No way TB12 was going to a new team. It took him a long tome to understand BA’s O scheme. It’s nuts to think he would learn a new system or team after everything that has happened sine he called Tampa Bay is #1 home!!!
