Here Is How Mike Evans Responds To Tom Brady Unretiring

March 14th, 2022

Motivation.

Bucs receiver Mike Evans seems to have reacted just the way Bucs fans wanted all of his teammates to respond with the news that Tom Brady returned to Tampa Bay.

Yesterday, the day Tom Brady took to Twitter and announced he’s coming back to the Bucs and got everyone to quit thinking about basketball brackets, Evans, a guy who after the season was in pain at the thought of Brady retiring, went to work.

The best receiver in Bucs history wasted little time working up a sweat and getting ready for OTAs. Evans’ personal trainer, Kerry Bennett, uploaded video to Instagram for all to see.

That’s just what Joe expects Bucs fans wanted to see from Evans and all his teammates after the Brady news went viral: Time to get to work, now. Tommy’s back.

I hope he responds by restructuring his massive contract and allowing us to sign some free agents…

  2. YucstoBucs Says:

First ballot HOF !! Great player and especially a great person off the field !!! Love Mike !!!

  3. Zzbuc Says:

    Favorite Bucs ever!
    By far!

  4. Goatfarmer Says:

Mike Evans is the new Buccaneer.

  5. geno711 Says:

Love Mike. Thanks for all you do for the team and the community.

  6. Marine Buc Says:

Most of our dead cap money is with Suh and Gronk…

If we re-sign those two guys we can push nearly $12M into 2023.

    LFG!

  7. YucstoBucs Says:

    And a great neighbor !!!

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

9 1000 yd seasons coming your way.

  9. Goatfarmer Says:

Meant New Mr. Buccaneer, already has restructured a number of times .

Go to others first, JL, out of respect.

  10. Orlando Kevin Says:

Mike is a great guy as well.

  11. Thisisouryear!! Says:

I felt like Mike and Brady developed serious chemistry at the end of the season with everyone else injured. I expect a huge year from Evans and I think Brady will by far have his best year if we can stay healthy. LFG!!!!

  12. DaBux Says:

ME13 is going to have a breakout season this year.

    /sarcasmoff

  13. YucstoBucs Says:

Now it’s time to really look at if Grayson or Tyler can be a number 2 because Godwin won’t be back till mid season and going to take a couple games to get in previous shape. Permian? But is LVD or Shaq tradable because Joe T can take Shaqs spot at a way cheaper price and LVD isn’t the same player and great leader, but his play definitely didn’t equal what he makes. Just thoughts, but Go Bucs !!!

  14. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Goat

The Bucs will need to restructure every large contract they have in order to bring back quality players to Tampa.

We have 26 free agents – we just signed 3…

Got a looooong way to go amigo.

  15. Alstott up the gut Says:

Mike Evans is an all-time Buccaneer great! I believe he will end up in Canton, and I hope he is the primary reason Chris Godwin signs long term. Unbelievable tandem, both home grown, and most importantly…. Not divas!!! Love them!

  16. JGhotier Says:

Another thing to consider besides the injury in signing Godwin to a long term deal is can you really give him more than Mike Evans is making….your Franchise all-time receiver in his prime?!

How can you do that? Do you also have to give Mike more $ to at least match what Godwin would be making? Which is $20 plus mil per year w/ the way this WR market is going in guys like Mike Williams and Kirk, of which Godwin is better than and more important to his team currently with everything he does and offers and brings.

I don’t see how this is going to work out with all those factors to consider, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞

  17. JeffreyLane77 Says:

Evans in my opinion is the best WR this team has ever had. If the refs ever took off the blinders Evans wouldn’t have to push off. Dude gets mugged and the refs flag Evans for pushing off?

  18. LOL Says:

To all the losers saying trade Lavonte David. Coming from a die hard lifelong Bucs fan. STFU IDIOTS

  19. LOL Says:

Evans would rather play for a contender than make the most money on his squad. What a team player. We need more people who are willing to take a team friendly salary. We will see if Carlton Davis is one of those dudes or not

  20. Mort Says:

Goatfarmer: a restructure is GOOD for the player, not bad. It converts non-guaranteed base salary to a signing bonus which then can be spread out over multiple years for cap purposes. It lowers the cap number for the year and still pays the player every cent.

  21. YucstoBucs Says:

@Lol said could it be a possibility? Great leader, but his best years are behind him and makes a ton of money and hope he has a good year !! It was a thought a didn’t say go and trade him? We don’t have money and in my opinion I think Shaq and LVD are replaceable and I guess Buc fans can’t have an opinion you moron

  22. LOL Says:

LVD is the heart and glue of the Defense. He will be a lifelong Buc and will be in the ring of honor. Stand up Leader, Man and player. Get his name out your mouth bro LOL

  23. Goatfarmer Says:

Marine, totally agree. Just want others to step up too, Mike has always been the guy. We need Brady, Shaq, D Smith, to restructure and Godwin to ink a long term deal. However much short term jack can be raised from that exercise will determine how many of the others we can keep. That and market demand for their services.

  24. Buccos Says:

How about all of the idiots who said that Tom Brady wanted out of Tampa. He would never play for these clowns again. He was going to San Fran? STFU MORONS!!

  25. SB Says:

You can have an opinion Yucstobucs. It isn’t our fault your ‘opinion’ is Garbage!
Talk of trading David or Shaq is just MORONIC to be nice!

  26. Austin Says:

Restructure everything lol push it all back to 2023 and 2024 and resign every one again with your magic

  27. YucstoBucs Says:

@LOL you ever play team sports ? So because he’s a great leader we just overlook his decline in play last year and the amount of money he makes as well. Those are solid reasons and the ring of honor justifies everything 🤦🏻 LOL

  28. sasquatch Says:

Evans working on career as G-BOAT … Greatest Buccaneer of All Time.

  29. Anonymous Says:

    @ Marine buc
When has Evans not restructured his contract to help the team out and 26 free agents? We only need or want 7 of them back the rest can go. These bandwagon fans man I’ll tell ya..

  30. Chris K Says:

@Buccos, yes, where are those stupid useless trolls now?

  31. Thisisouryear!! Says:

I don’t know how you can downplay that David is still the heartbeat of our defense. When he was out last year, white was lost, played sloppy and Minter looked slow. When he was in and White was out Minter looked okay and the defense was respectable. LVD is huge and still playing very well.

  32. BucsfanChad Says:

Wow!!! Trade LaVante??? You gotta be kidding me. He’s got a spot up in that ring of honor reserved for him! He needs to retire a Buc!!!

  33. LOL Says:

    Carlton Davis just resigned! 3yr/45mil

  34. BucsfanChad Says:

Guys like him get to go out on their own terms. He will know when to hang em up.

Yes I played team sports for 15 years. The teams stats when LVD was out tell a great story about how productive he still is.

  36. Tampabaybucfsn Says:

Evans has already restructured…maybe more he can do

  37. CalBucsFan Says:

    Right on Mike!

  38. BucsfanChad Says:

What took him so long? Mike restructures every year!! The ultimate team player. He just wants to win!!!

  39. SlyPirate Says:

FUN FACTS ABOUT MIKE AND A PAIR OF JOHNSONS

Evans will likely pass Keyshawn Johnson on all time receiving yards next season and Calvin Johnson in 2 seasons.

Calvin Johnson, at 11,500 yards, is the benchmark where HOF becomes a reality. 13 of 32 above 11,500 are in the HOF, 3 are still playing and will be HOF, and another 3 are just waiting for eligibility. Below 11,500, there are about as many HOF WRs in the next 200 players on the list. Most of those date back to before I was born (a long time ago).
