Another injury!

The Bucs are racking up injuries at running back in a big way. Now their leading rusher the past two games is messed up.

Bucco Bruce Arians said today that second-year running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn hurt his ribs and he may not be available Sunday in the season finale. Vaughn’s 70 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers two games ago led the team, and he was the top rusher yesterday with 8 carries for 31 yards after Ronald Jones left with an ankle injury. Vaughn also had two good catches out of the backfield on balls that were not easy opportunities.

As for RoJo, Arians said it’s “wait-and-see” on his ankle.

“We’ll have somebody out there,” Arians said.

The head coach noted that Le’Veon Bell is getting up to speed and Kenjon Barner is on the roster. Barner, 32, had four total rushes for the Falcons in 2019, his last action at running back.

What happened to the guy we signed off of KC practice squad?

  2. Bird Says:

Injuries happen but this is ridiculous

Can we have a Q&A with the bucs trainers? 😂
Or maybe all these walk thru practices not such a good ideA. Oh now go play 17 tough games. After walking/jogging thru practice 😂

  3. PassingThru Says:

I haven’t really been a big fan of the Bucs running game, I feel at its best it is rather average. Without Fournette it is now very below average. On Sunday the Bucs kept putting themselves into precarious 3rd down situations because of the poor ground game. Fortunately, they converted many of them, but then it was against one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL.

Allow me to nominate a new mascot….Bill the Cat…Aaaack!

  5. adam from ny Says:

let’s use vita vea a little bit at running back on sunday…

it’s a way to showboat a little bit before the playoffs and get all this attention away from the AB fiasco…

we do need to high step into the playoff a little bit – heck we are still the champs as of now…

everyone would love to see vita rumble like 5-8 times for 40 or 50 yards and a couple tds…

  6. Ben green Says:

The loss of Fournette is in many ways worse than Godwin. Brady was always taught to check to a run when he saw two high, and LF made teams pay. He is or was the most targeted back in the league as well. That aspect of the passing game, was an extension of the running game. It becomes difficult for Brady with the loss of Godwin and Brown. But, it’s nearly impossible without a healthy LF.

  7. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

I hope Vaughn sucks it up. He won’t smell a snap in the playoffs so I hope that he can gut it out this Sunday.

  8. Ben green Says:

If y’all are expecting the ghost of bell to save the day, you’re kidding yourselves. Can he flash a couple times a game, and make some plays, yes. But he can’t shoulder the load. It’s going to have to be running game by committee.

  9. William Walls Says:

Better to use Vita Vea as a classic FB, assuming that still works.

  10. Listnfrmafar Says:

Status of Gio??? Is he done for the season?

  11. RustyRhinos Says:

All the foolish talk of Vita as a RB, and what happens if he gets injured running the ball? His DT work is not easy to replace.
Sad to hear about the Vaughn Rib injury, hope it is not severe. Sneak is looking better with more opportunities, I Hope Jones’s ankle is not too severe. if both can’t go,
NEXT RB UP!! What else can we do? Move forward!
    Go! BUCS!!!

  12. ocala Says:

Cameron Brate plays full back occasionally and is the emergency QB. Brate has the Bucs covered.

  13. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Man the injury bug just annihilated this team this year.. that tells me they’re not practicing hard enough!! You have to go 75% game speed, tackle, rush and at least touch the QB and not have caution cones around him (OBVIOUSLY not saying tackle Brady but at least let them touch him on the head or something to count a sack)… There not doing sprints uphill after practice to really build that endurance… I think they got a few injuries right away then got scared and started practicing lightly and that led to a rash of injuries…. When you don’t practice hard then you get out on the field and run, cut, jump as hard as you possibly can you’re muscles aren’t ready for it!! It’s so funny in high school all the way to college we practice hard…. I guess when you get to the NFL they give you a pillow since you are worth so much money!! 🙄

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Yeah Vita at FB. The guys actually has some moves if you have seen his HS tape. Lol. 3rd and 2 or 4th and 1, Vea has it covered….

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Vita is so out of shape he can’t even play half the defensive snaps, and now you guys think he should add being a FB to his resume?

  16. Sil Says:

SorryJack my guy wrong take. If you look at it, a lot of these injuries are not soft tissue injuries. These injuries come from contact. LVD foot injury, CG ACL tear on hit, Vaughn ribs, Lenny hamstring on what looked to be a tear, Defense has been ribs, concussion, shoulder. JPP rotator cuff, Shaq Barret knee. All these are contact injuries the only really soft tissue injuries are Lenny’s (kinda) and Mike Evans (i may have missed some players) but these guys got hurt because of contact not soft tissue injuries or “because they don’t practice hard enough” they practice plenty hard and looking at the injury list it’s kinda proposterous to believe it’s because of the practice. But i guess sitting in your couch judging the craft of others is fun for you.

  17. David Says:

    Don’t blame the trainers.

Tearing rotator cuffs and knees and ankles and ribs being bruised or cracked etc. training and stretching is not preventing any of that. You can barely prevent hamstrings and quad pulls. They were remarkably healthy last year for the most part but it’s evened out this year in a big way unfortunately

  18. JimmyJack Says:

Not sure we can expect Bell to run the ball much but I am hoping we see him this week as a passing weapon. We could use a guy like him to step up now that we lost Brown.

He might be a step slower then his old self but if you get him open and throw him the ball he is not going to let you down.

  19. JimmyJack Says:

David so we had great trainers last year and this year they stink. Hahahaha

Fans are simply obsessed with having a single person to point blame at.

  20. unbelievable Says:

We were remarkably healthy last year.

Apparently we had some bad karma coming to pay us back for that this year, unfortunately.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

I’d put OJ back there to pass block, he’s improved as a blocker (he’s better than Brate for example) and he could swing out or catch screen passes as well. His recovery must be worse than expected because I don’t know how you’re paying him $6m and just don’t use him. It’s not like he stands out for playing poorly when he’s on the field, he’s normally just not noticed, which isn’t a bad thing since he’s mostly just being a blocker.

  22. firethecannons Says:

now I fully understand why tom brady thought 17 games was a very bad idea

  23. Wesley Says:

Seriously what the hell is going on with all these injuries? I’ve never seen anything like it.

  24. Bucfan Says:

It just isn’t our year on the injury front. Its getting hard to find the “Next man up”.
Maybe.BA should go shopping at the local Ramada to find a few players.

  25. steele Says:

    Kenjon Barner, next man up.

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

We have just added the best receiving running back in the NFL to pair with a guy who lived up to his first round draft status starting last year’s playoffs.

If Playoff Lenny is healthy and Bell is healthy we do not need ROJO or Vaughn.

Lenny pounds harder than Bell…Bell is more elusive…BOTH can catch the ball.

Who ya gonna cover? What if they are both on the field at the same time and moved around? If our OL can win the trenches we’ll be OK.

  27. LakelandSteve Says:

The biggest issue is not running the ball it is pass protection of blitz pick ups for whatever guy the Bucs put in there. Leveon Bell is decent in blitz pickups but he can’t play a whole game probably. There is a possibility that Gio Bernard may be back though for this game.
