Seems Tom Brady’s Plans Got Sidetracked

January 29th, 2022

“I told you to keep your trap shut!”

Joe knows Tom Brady is nearly as skilled as a businessman as he is at quarterback. And Joe doesn’t think Brady does a thing spontaneously, aside from a couple of shots of tequila and tossing the Vince Lombardi Trophy over water.

And maybe not even that.

Brady was absent in the hollow “America’s Game” episode that chronicled the Bucs’ Super Bowl-winning season, even though he was the central figure in the Super Bowl campaign. Why?

Well, Brady has that series on BSPN+ where he breaks down each of his Super Bowl seasons.

Joe has a very strong hunch Brady didn’t do that free. So Brady wanted to save what he had on the Bucs for his paid project/production, likely his BSPN+ series (remember, Brady owns a Hollywood production company).

So with everybody and their brother guessing what Brady may or may not do the past week, Joe wondered if Brady may have signed a deal with some outfit (perhaps his own boring, saccharine-laced podcast with wet-kiss questions from ChapStick Jim Gray) to make his future plans known publicly.

You know, like that fraud LeBron James did years ago for BSPN for a massive paycheck. And whattaya know, that show was co-hosted by ChapStick himself.

Then Joe noticed the Twitter from @TB12 congratulating Brady on his career was deleted. And then, a missive from Brady’s agent Don Yee to Adam Schefter, of BSPN, trying to throw cold water on BSPN’s report.

Notice Yee did not say ESPN’s reporting is wrong? If it was wrong, Yee likely would be screaming from the mountaintop and Brady himself would likely have already posted something on social media.

This just tells Joe that whatever Brady had planned to make cash off his announcement (whatever that might be) got all fouled up by Jeff Darlington and Schefter this afternoon.

It’s going to be a huge shame if Brady retires without having ever worn the Bucco Bruce helmet and orange jersey.

If you want to talk money, just think of all the money the orange Bucs jersey with Brady on it is going to make…

Licht, get on the phone and pitch that now!

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Best laid plans…..I’m sure Brady will make plenty of money no matter what he does…..

  3. HC Grover Says:

Thanks for the memories Brady. It was great to have the GOAT for two years. Fire Bowles first.

  4. Anthony Says:

We ain’t dead yet Joe! One more run!

  5. Steven007 Says:

He’s probably done but all the backtracking is interesting. Also saw a quote where Brady’s dad said he’s not retiring. Given to a San Francisco reporter. And no he’s not playing for the niners…

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Wait… now I’m just seeing another new alert that says Brady has contacted Licht and said he has not made any decision about retiring.

That goes beyond just being silent or a non-comment if he’s literally saying he’s made no decision.

You think Tom needs a cash grab for this?

Tom has a net worth north of 250 million, likely will become a Billionare once he doesn’t spend as much time on the field and his TB12 brand becomes he’s new full time job.

I’m in the camp he wants to go another year and the wife is forcing him out.

If you get a chance go listen to the interview with Tom and Hiward Stern. He talked about how the Mrs wrote him a letter years ago about , essentially, how football made him a bad dad and husband.

I think the idea of q cash grab might be click bait. This is clearly not an easy decision.

  8. Steven007 Says:

A tweet I just read from Jeff Howe said that Brady called the team and informed them that he’s not even close to making a decision about whether or not he’s retiring.

  9. D-Rome Says:

While I will always appreciate what Brady did here there was always a sense of keeping the fans and media an arms length away and that the whole experience was meticulously managed. When you’re the best of all time you can do that.

  10. Ryan Says:

Brady will probably announce he’s retiring or coming back via another twitter video. Need to keep the suspense going for that announcement. Maybe that’s why the agent isn’t saying the reports are or aren’t true. No reason to bc Brady will announce something in a few days.

  11. D-Rok Says:

For what it’s worth, Brady’s father said he is not retiring.

JUST IN: Tom Brady Sr. tells
    @kron4news
that his son is not retiring. Brady Sr. says an online publication started circulating an unsubstantiated rumor. However a number of NFL insiders are now reporting it.

I just went and brushed the dust off that bottle of liquor that had been in the back of the closet the last two years. That bottle starting talking to me saying “ I Told you, you would be back”

  13. Steven007 Says:

D, I saw that too. I’d like to think that his dad is more in the know then some NFL reporters looking to break a story. Again, at this point it seems like that’s what’s going to happen, but he almost certainly wants to control that narrative. That said, one more year would be excellent.

  14. D-Rok Says:

Agree, Steven. I’m almost 55 years old and have never wished more that an athlete would give us just 1 more year. I’d rather him say, “OK folks, this is my last year.” It would give so many of us fans “closure,” LOL.

  15. Pruritus Ani Says:

Could it be? Could it be? The GOAT rising from the ashes!

  16. webster Says:

Well lebrons annoucement money generated did not go to him, it went to charity ie the boys and girls clubs in his area but i understand it is easier to say anything regardless of facts especially if you dont like said player because he chooses to speak out against certain things. Funny how some will believe people do things for charity ie the cops or military and come to find out that money never went to charity but to personal accounts to pay personal bills and thats why the feds shut down that charity but that person is not called a fraud. You may not like lebron and what he speaks his mind on but he definitely gives to his comminities. You cant be a fraud and nike build a complex on its campus bearing your name. I believe its only 3 such players nike has done that for. Just like lebron, if and when brady makes his announcement to retire, money will not be a factor.

  17. Jason Says:

    Hey Ani,
Nothing would pease me mow than Brady to rise from the perceived ashes and fly out here with the next SB win. True Bucs fan-Bird

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

    He’s waiting for Kyle Shanahan.

  19. Hodad Says:

Hard to believe he hasn’t made up his mind yet. More like he wanted to drop the bomb after this weekend to not take away from tomorrow’s games. Cats out of the bag now, might as well steal the Rams, and 49ers spot light and spill it.

  20. Robert L Anderson Says:

    Aaron Rodgers

  21. Goatwatcher Says:

Cash off the announcement? Are you drunk?
