Running Backs Updates

January 20th, 2022

The latest.

New news seems the same as the old news.

By way of NBC Sports Edge, we have an update on the top two Bucs running backs, Playoff Lenny and Ronald Jones.

Just like last week, Playoff Lenny is practicing, so that is a good sign. The Bucs sure could use him Sunday, Playoff Lenny is trying to battle back from a troublesome hamstring.

Playoff Lenny was on track to play against the Eagles but prior to the game, as Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said to Sara Walsh Sunday morning, Playoff Lenny tweaked his hamstring injuryAgain.

The news on RoJo doesn’t seem so good. RoJo still isn’t able to cut using his bum ankle. That, of course, is an issue.

So just like last week, Playoff Lenny is practicing and RoJo cannot cut. We both know what happened on gameday.

I get this feeling Playoff Lenny will be ready.

  2. zzbucs Says:

My biggest concern is T Wirfs…..for the rest the depth is good….Not for RT…..But relaity says High sprain anckle isn´t short time

    *reality

A few weeks ago when the AB saga was peeking, RoJo posted something on his social media supporting AB. After the Jets game, the ankle injury was graded a level 1 injury, which should only take 10-14 days to heal. Here we are 18 days after the injury and he is still not good or even close. I would say RoJo is being kept out at this point for more than an ankle injury. He may be in the BA/Licht doghouse for the remainder of the playoffs.

  5. Bobby M. Says:

The Rojo injury is curious. If he says he cant cut, there’s not much medical staff can say to rebuttal it…..seems similar to the situation with AB. I’ll be shocked if Rojo returns next year. Maybe he ends up in Jacksonville with Leftwich because he knows the system and they have a young QB.

    Fixed it Donuts.

  7. SlyPirate Says:

Lenny and AB were really tight last year and through the offseason. I wonder how that whole thing has impacted his mental state.

  8. Biff Barker Says:

I sure hope Lenny can go. Thankfully Vaughn and Gio can share the load.
I see more short passes than runs from scrimmage later in the game. Bucs have to negate the pass rush. TB’s got 2.5 seconds max to get the ball out.

  9. Adrnagy Says:

I like vaughn and gio this game. Draw/ screen game sneaky small with speed.

  10. Swampbuc Says:

Lenny has matured and would tell RoJo if he was off the rails supporting ABCrazy. Everyone said they would support AB – off the field. Saying they support AB is not condoning his actions, and I doubt RoJo would be put on a limb saying AB was right and the Bucs are wrong.

  11. Tackleblockwin Says:

We really need Lenny to play. He is a tough tackle for 60 minutes.

  12. Thomas Edrington Says:

“Cut” is the appropriate verb for ROJO, time to send him packing…..

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not as concerned with the RBs as I am the WRs……..Perriman & Grayson out is a problem……

  14. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

RoJo couldn’t cut on his good ankle. He’s likely just having some kind of mental break as usual.

    Next man up.

So much stupidity in these comments…

  16. Swampbuc Says:

I’m glad Licht and Arians run the show and not some of the football geniuses around here.

Cut RoJo! Fire BA! Donovan Smith sucks! Brady is an over the hill dink and dunk passer! Licht doesn’t know how to build an offensive line!

They post among us. It’s a wonder their brain stems operate well enough for them to breathe.

  17. TiredBucsFan Says:

At the heading change it from “responses” to “bashing”

  18. crazyBucs_CL Says:

“very very difficult game for us”, that TB12 just said. Well it tells you almost everything.
Saints not only shut us down at home, but by taking out CG and LF they may have kill our chances for SB run.

  19. New England Patriots Fan Says:

It was revenge for ending their season with the JW tackle. If JW played the entire season Saints would’ve been a wildcard playoff team, whom could’ve beat up on a soft Tampa Bay team as they seem to repeatedly do. They went to week 18 with two third string QBs and a running QB and still nearly matched up with Tampa in Wildcard.

  20. JimmyJack Says:

Once we heard last week RoJo was in a boot that should of pretty much told you he was going to be out for a while. Shame on you if you expected him back.

Unfortunately the same can be said about Wirfs. Im not expecting him to play this week and would call it a long shot to play in the NFC Championship.

But its not all bad because we are gettng Foutnette back it sounds like. They dont call him Playoff Lenny for nothing and I am expecting a huge game……At least 2 Touchdowns.

And I really liked Gios game last week. I hope he is a big part of the game Sunday.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  21. G.Marosi Says:

Unless the defense keeps the ball away from the Rams and makes plays ,we put up our avg pts 30+ we aren’t going to beat them period!
    #GoBucs!!!

  22. Eddie Marz Says:

RoJo is a disappointment. Expecting him to seize his opportunity, but he hasn’t. Cant imagine he’ll be back. The Bucs have moved on with Vaughn. GOBUCS!

  23. steele Says:

I think Vaughn has really stepped up and has shown us a lot the past few games. Big improvement. So much that I am less concerned about the Lenny/RoJo problem. I hope I don’t eat these words. Vaughn/Gio/LeVeon isn’t a bad committee.

  24. Ryanbucs fan Says:

Is it just me or does Vaughn look better than RoJo anyhow?

  25. Boo Radley Says:

RoJo running out of bounds to AVOID A HIT BEFORE THE STICK for a SECOND time this Season was all Licht and Arians had to see. Couple that with Rojo’s hangdog mental funk he STAYS in after getting pulling, sitting alone and dwelling about “the unfairness” of it all, very much AB-like, was the final nail in his coffin. Can’t block, can’t catch, can’t take a clean hand-off and someone who’s going to cough the ball up again in a critical situation, or have another brain fart….RoJo has done NOTHING to indicate that he knowns he has problems and that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to overcome them. RoJo seems to be all about RoJo. Time to move on.
