Mike Evans Deadly Against Single-Coverage

January 9th, 2022

Needs 54 yards today.

The one thing Joe can tolerate from the PFF tribe is their stats.

Their dumb grades? Joe might not wipe his arse with them.

So in a stat the tribe pumped out last week, it seems Bucs receiver Mike Evans is pretty damn dangerous with single coverage. How dangerous? He’s right up there with DK Metcalf and Ja’Marr Chase with burning cornerbacks (badly) on single coverage.

Joe hopes that continues, of course. With Chris Godwin and furniture-tossing, bicycle-winging, tantrum-throwing quitter Antonio Brown both gone, Joe has a strong suspicion that Evans may not see single coverage again until next season. Teams would be nuts not to double-up on Evans.

So we shall see if the Stinking Panthers do that today. Evans needs 54 yards to reach 1,000 for the season. That would extend his current NFL record of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin a career to eight.

In only five games this season has Evans failed to get at least 50 yards receiving in a game.

Joe is crossing his fingers that the Stinking Panthers do something stupid and let Evans run wild.

Yup this is exactly why the cb from the saints has help all day!!!!!

  3. Anonymous Says:

Get it his stats and run a few routes and take a seat for the One and Done season

I don’t know zbuc, something very appealing about seeing Brady throwing deep sideline passes to Metcalf. This is where Evan’s proves he a leader. I see teams doubling Gronk. Johnson, Perriman and Grayson should have a field day if they do their jobs.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady will target Mike early and often….he’ll do everything he can to get Mike his yards…….
And, I agree……Perriman, Johnson & Grayson should have a good day along with Gronk & Brate.

55 yards, and we won’t see anymore of Evans till the playoffs. With Godwin, and AB gone the Bucs need to move all their receivers around. If you move Mike into the slot more it will be harder to double him. If you do, we can make you pay on the outside with Grayson, and Perriman’s speed.

Please just tell me the field at RayJay is dry today, for ME13’s sake.

If Evans pulls a hammy we riot!

Mike Evans is tied for 3rd in TD receptions with 12. This is the 4th time in his career he’s hit the 12 TD mark. I’d love to see him break his own record of 13 TDs for a season today.

My boys and I flew in from California so they can see their first bucs game today! Hopefully Evans goes off, he is my 10 year olds favorite player.

I love Mike, but he has not seemed nearly as dynamic as in years past. I think he may have to lost a step, now at 28 and with a a career full of leg and soft tissue injuries. Yes he still beats his guy in the end zone with his size, but I just haven’t seen the same speed for a full game, only in bursts here and there. I’m praying that he is able to go into the playoffs fully healthy, and that we see vintage Mike. We are gonna need him. GO BUCS!!

Godlovesbucs that’s awesome bro. Hope you and the kids have a great time at the game and hoping ME13 goes off for your boy

    @ godlovesbucs

Very cool. Enjoy the day with your boys and the Bucs! I’m pretty confident Evans will add to his 1000 yard season streak today.

Jeebs it’s easy to forget, but in Koetter style offense he was used a bit more like a possession receiver running come backs on the sideline and even some stuff across the middle. In Arians offense he’s running a lot more lower completion stuff, a lot more down the field where he’s running into the safety with a guy underneath.. tbh I think Koetter offense featured him more

Wish they’d run Mike on more slants and crossing routes. He’s a killer on those.

Thanks guys! One is sporting a Gronk jersey and one in Evans. Been a long road, but for the last 2 years they have finally been proud to be a buccaneers fan all the way on the west coast!

The Playoffs in a nutshell. Can our D return to health and play the dominant game they can when healthy?

How are D’s going to double ME13…account for Gronk, Brate and CG/Johnson/Scottie and most importantly…how are D’s going to account for Playoff Lennie and Bell out of the backfield for one of the masters of touch on dump passes out to the flat.

What if we have Fournette in the game along with Bell. Bell split wide last game…Fournette has done it on occassion.

Bottom line…we should consistently get Fournette and Bell matched up on slower LB’s. Brady will find them! We’ll move the chains, control the ball, play defense and use that time honored formula to winning in the NFL playoffs.
