Stinking Panthers Best Elixir For Hurting Bucs Pass Rush

January 9th, 2022

Beat down coming today?

Both Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul are out tomorrow. That’s never good when your two best pass rushers on the corners are out.

To be fair, with his torn rotator cuff, JPP has been a shell of his former self.

However, if this is the time to lose both pass rushers, Mike Tanier of Football Outsiders believes this is the time. Or at least, this is the game.

Tanier, in breaking down the final game of the 2021 regular season game between the Stinking Panthers and the Bucs, describes how Stinking Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold suffers from shell shock so badly, he’s got the scrambled brains of a border collie puppy.

Final Thoughts on the Panthers: Sam Darnold is still only 24 years old, but he has been sacked 131 times in 48 starts. Darnold’s “sack age” is more important than his biological age at this point, and the concept that the Panthers can somehow “evaluate” his “development” behind their candy glass offensive line is ludicrous. Darnold is done cooking, because the oven caught fire when he was inside it with the Jets, then Matt Rhule finished him off with a blow torch like a crème brûlée. The Panthers need to find a quarterback in 2022, but they had better fix their offensive line and scheme first; otherwise, the next quarterback will just get the Justin Fields treatment.

The Buccaneers were involved in some drama this week. Whatever. Buccaneers 33, Panthers 13.

So basically, Tanier is saying, in a long about way, that the Bucs shouldn’t need Shaq and JPP today. Just getting past the turnstiles on the Stinking Panthers’ offensive line will be enough to rattle Darnold.

So in other words, today, Anthony Nelson may look like a starter, Joe Tyron-Shoyinka may make Ian Beckles uncomfortable with a couple of sacks, and both Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh could go beasting today.

If Darnold melts down under pressure, there is no way Joe can see the Stinking Panthers beating the Bucs unless their heads are fully in the playoffs already.

You have to wonder who will go after watson next year

    Carolina…shoot …maybe saints.

  2. Listnfrmafar Says:

What if he doesn’t? Zach Wilson didn’t and he was a punching bag all season. Prediction, Bucs come out unprepared AGAIN, backs against the wall and another nail biter Brady has to clean up. Don’t get me wrong, unlike Roger’s that is only playing so he can insure his MVP, I want to see an early blowout and a lot of Gabbert.

  3. Hodad Says:

Joe, why do you insult border collies like that?

  4. Onetrickpony Says:

Like what already has been said I hope they come out prepared instead of loafing and giving the opposing team a chance. Bury them.

Not that TeddyB. is a TB but, I didn’t understand why the Panthers let him walk after only one season…and for Donald? Teddy seemed to play well-enough last year with only one year in the system & he certainly played well in NO the year before.

With that said, Listn is probably not far off & Donald goes off for 346 & 3 tuddies!? Hope I’m wrong!

  6. Denny Gay Says:

What the heck does scrambled brains of a border collie supposed to mean? Can’t you just write without making Terrible “jokes” that no one understands? Border Collie are the smartest dogs on the planet.

Not sure this is going to be the cakewalk everyone expects. The Bucs just don’t gain much by winning the game, and we are seeing similar BIG FAVORITES across the league this week saving their worst game for last.
