“He Is No Longer A Buc”

January 2nd, 2022

History.

The virtue-signalers finally got their way. It only took them two weeks for their wishes to come true.

Antonio Brown’s days with the Bucs are over. Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians has thrown him off the team.

Brown melted down with a temper tantrum in the third quarter, threw his undershirt and gloves into the crowd, ran into the end zone, did jumping jacks and waved goodbye.

And Arians gave him a virtual finger to Brown after the game.

“He is no longer a Buc,” Arians said angrily when asked, and barked he would only address the game, a win over the Jets.

When Arians was later asked again about Brown, Arians snapped, “I’m not talking about him. He’s not a part of the Bucs.”

Goodbye, Antonio.

[UPDATE:] On the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game, it was mentioned to Arians that it was known he told the fourth estate he didn’t want to talk about Brown because he’s off the team, Arians said referencing addressing Brown, “No, no.” Arians didn’t say another word about the subject.

  1. PassingThru Says:

I hate to say it, but the team needed AB to go anywhere in the playoffs.

  2. mg Says:

    sad

  3. Go Bucs! Says:

    FYAB

  4. Austin Says:

Very sad, I hope he doesn’t have long term mental/brain problems…. pray for him

  5. Howard Cosell Says:

Fair enough. Howard hopes Brady can elevate the young WR corps into stars for these coming playoffs

  6. Lesko_Brandon Says:

Bucs needs to sharpen Grayson, Johnson, Perriman and Scotty Miller. We need those guys to step up and give it their all.

  7. Connor Says:

Just de-activate him. Don’t release him and let another playoff team pick up

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

If Grayson can play the way he has lately, the Bucs still have a chance, IMHO.

  9. WalkdaPlank Says:

    PassingThru

I understand wanting to have Brown on the team, the Bucs are better with him than without, but they absolutely do not *need* him. Just like they didn’t need him last season when he only caught 8 passes in the postseason and didn’t even play the NFC Championship.

Either way football is no place for quitters.

  10. freadity Says:

I think we should let him play, he is who he is, an we knew who he was coming in to this team, he probably has ECT

  11. Irishmist Says:

We all knew the man’s sanity had an expiration date.

  12. dbbuc711 Says:

Exactly what Arians should have said. Good for him.
Brown should be responsible for his own way home.

  13. Marcus Says:

I wish we threw Arians off the Bucs instead.

  14. Miller5252 Says:

Ole crazy eyes is gone! The crazy thing was it was probably over something stupid. Keep him until the season is over!

  15. LVMYBUCS Says:

    Geeez!!!!!!!

  16. SB~LV Says:

    Gone and forgotten…

  17. Bring back Jameis j/k Says:

Does Joe think we should have kept him after that 5 year old acting performance he pulled off so wonderfully? Sorry I’m just confused by your opening paragraph.

  18. Tampadeuce21 Says:

    Atta boy bruce

  19. ModHairKen Says:

    Enough. He’s an ex-Buc.

  20. Rod Munch Says:

All I care about is Brady… if he’s p/o’d at the team or not.

If AB just had a meltdown, on his own, then Brady can’t be mad a the Bucs.

I’m just really hoping it wasn’t Arians saying something stupid to trigger the whole situation.

I guess we’ll find out as more details leak.

  21. PassingThru Says:

A bit late to be developing the deep backups. Chemistry problems were rampant today, as well as dropped balls.

  22. SB~LV Says:

The team should wipe their ass with that game jersey and mail it to him.

  23. HC Grover Says:

What did BA do to him? If he is fired can he join another team? I bet it was about BA not letting him make some money on his bonus.

  24. David Says:

I don’t understand. The guy needs meds obviously. He can’t go more than a year without blowing up in some stupid way.
But this is the right call. You walk off and quit on your team in the middle of the game, you should be thrown off the team immediately with your contract ripped up. They should not owe him another dime, it should be null n void.

Grayson and Perryman and Johnson and Gronk and Evans are enough to still win the playoffs. Plus Miller once in a while.

The problem to me is Fournette and LVD are hurt and I don’t know how healthy they’ll be. JPP’s is not coming back healthy until he has surgery. Hopefully Shaq comes back healthy.

They need a devastating pass rush in the playoffs and a healthy Evans. And Evans looked like he tweaked something with a leg earlier in the game

  25. Sc.Bucs fan Says:

    Mental illness into joke.

  26. Irishmist Says:

    Is Julian Edelman still available?

  27. geno711 Says:

Did someone suggest this was an Arians issue and not an AB issue?

    Really?

  28. Tampadeuce21 Says:

    Addition by subtraction

  29. Bring back Jameis j/k Says:

These guys are F’n adults. Even if Arians triggered Brown, grow a set of balls and man up. You don’t quit on your team.

  30. HC Grover Says:

BA may be the one who melted down?

  31. Tackleblockwin Says:

Headline: AB’s actions propels Bucs to win over dominate Jets team.

  32. WorldChamps Says:

AB is a spoiled child. Sucks to lose the talent, but absolutely doesn’t matter if you can’t count on him. Leaving your team in the middle of the game uninjured is the definition of that.

  33. Sc.Bucs fan Says:

Remember last year Brady fed him the last game to get his bonus. Dude is not a teammate. Good luck getting another job.

  34. Francisco Guzman Says:

Not a fan of Arians. I would not release AB and let him go to another team. Either way my expectations for this team have died down. I don’t expect much now.

  35. Casual Observer Says:

i didn’t like his signing but changed my mind when I saw how good he was. Best WR I ever saw. But, sad to say, he needs mental help. Hope he gets it.

  36. Drunkinybor Says:

He’s appears to have a serious mental illness. He acts on emotions without thinking about the consequences. My brother is Bi polar and a paranoid schizophrenic. He acts the exact same way. He can be fine and then out of nowhere he becomes agitated and extremely irrational sometimes violent. He need to get help the TB12 method did not help his mind.

  37. WorldChamps Says:

Imagine if he did this in a playoff game.

  38. ClodHopper Says:

I was as a big a fan of Browns as anyone but I think he earned it today. Such a shame.

  39. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Yeah, I finally agree with it.

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

AB’s behavior is the epitome of ungrateful……

  41. Lesko_Brandon Says:

This will be the sports pundit talk for the whole week. What triggered AB to quit? Did AB said something to BA that blew his top off and yelled back at AB ?

  42. Craig Says:

With Perriman and Grayson we have enough speed, and they run better routes than the unlamented one.

  43. Bucsfan951 Says:

I’ll be wearing my ab jersey every game day for the rest of the season! Free ab!!!

  44. Francisco Guzman Says:

David i don’t see how this team reaches the super bowl unless the wideouts really step up and this defense plays ferocious. Our season ended with the brown blowup.

  45. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    He needs meds

  46. dbbuc711 Says:

He and Aaron Rodgers would be a good match.

  47. Bring back Jameis j/k Says:

They did free AB. He is released. Haha

  48. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    So I can’t post the words V***** S********?

  49. PassingThru Says:

Oh come on Bruce, Antonio is working hard to become a better person.

  50. Lesko_Brandon Says:

It seems like AB was suggesting a creative play for the offense to get the WR’s open and BA, with his big ego, told AB to shut up.

  51. Chris K Says:

Talk about mental issues! I say bye! Can’t have it on the team no matter who they are. See ya!

  52. Francisco Guzman Says:

Don’t know if Brady will come back to this organization but they need to resign Godwin if Brady comes back.

  53. Merlin Says:

It doesn’t matter what BA said to him. He quit on the team in the middle of a game. You all can cry that somebody else is going to pick him up but I guarantee you that’s not going to happen

  54. Eric Says:

if the coach tells you your out of the game, listen.

    pretty simple.

    obvious nut job.

  55. Bucschamp Says:

    what did he do??

  56. cmurda Says:

Can’t defend AB. I wish I could but it just can’t be defended. He quit on the team no matter what the reason. It’s still unacceptable. Dangit. That really hurts the team though. Grayson or not.

  57. Sean Says:

I agree with some of the commentators. He’s clearly mentally ill. He reeks of bipolar disorder. Oh well. What do you expect the Bucs to do? At any rate, he shouldn’t be released to he doesn’t sign with someone else. Just benched and banned from the facility.

  58. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

We won but sucks to see what happened. We need AB and he knows it. Goodbye Super Bowl 56. Sad

  59. Ben green Says:

Even the guys family knows he’s a cretin. Short of an Aaron Hernandez like murder frenzy, Brady’s support for the guy was always hard to swallow

  60. Francisco Guzman Says:

They don’t have enough weapons that Brady trust. Tyler Johnson has been a complete joke. Butter hands.

  61. PassingThru Says:

At the very least, Godwin is going to miss half the season or longer next year.

I figured the draft would prioritize a DL and CBs. Add WR to the list.

These guys are F’n adults. Even if Arians triggered Brown, grow a set of balls and man up. You don’t quit on your team.

    ——–

Here’s what I’m talking… what if AB said something like, ‘hey coach, how did that vax work for you’, and Arians said, ‘you’re fired’.

That’s my nightmare scenario I’m talking about, where Arians, who is a leftwing activist nutjob, just cuts him at half-time for no real reason. That’s where Brady would be pissed, because Brady cares about winning, not about Arians political agenda.

WITH that said, I’m purely speculating, just giving what I’d view as the worst case scenario, I’m no way saying I think that happened. I’m just saying I hope that didn’t happen.

But it certainly seems like Arians cut him at half-time for reason, unless AB went full nuts for no apparent reason, which is possible.

  63. brooks Says:

at least he has one ring

  64. HC Grover Says:

He will prolly get picked up by a team an beat us in the playoffs. This is just lame. Dramaville.

  65. Buc4evr Says:

Wonder if AB wasn’t playing enough to get his bonus and he was pissed? Idk, the guy is a great WR, but he definitely has a screw loose….

  66. cmurda Says:

@Ben. You are comparing Aaron Hernandez to AB? AB has issues but that’s an awful comparison. Apples and oranges.

  67. jo_mama Says:

I have a crazy GF that comes with Awesome benefits.

However, I understand that she is Crazy and I have to treat her differently in order to get the most out of her.

I know that at all times I have to cater to the Bat S Craziness. As long as I keep myself in check. She is completely normal.

  68. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

AB has mental health issues… He needs help not punishment!! He needs HELP…
    Stop It…

  69. JR Says:

    F him

  70. UKBuccaneer Says:

Thanks for everything you did in 2020, AB, but you leave the team no choice when you quit mid-game.

Should have been a HoF player, but threw it away. I hope he gets the help he clearly needs.

  71. richbucsfan Says:

What the Bucs do with Brown is in Licht’s hands, not the head coach’s.

  72. HC Grover Says:

Did BA trigger him? Maybe he fired him on the spot and AB just left.

  73. T REX Says:

LOL. The censors are in full effect.

    Sad stuff Joe.

  74. Cobraboy Says:

I suspect that Burfict hit damaged his Brain.

  75. Jmarkbuc Says:

Show your a$$ like that during a game you’re done. No debate.

What the Heck does Birtue Cignaling have to do with it?

    Shame on Joe.

  76. Francisco Guzman Says:

I wouldn’t cut brown and let him get on another team. Just don’t play him.

  77. Aceofaerospace Says:

Scotty. Scotty Miller. Paging Scotty Miller.

  78. Lesko_Brandon Says:

It was determined that BA yelled at AB to effing catch the ball and AB yelled back at BA, why dont you catch it you fat a $ $…. hahhahaha

  79. Brian Cawood Says:

Good riddance. Great player. Headcase. Asta la pasta moron.

  80. Francisco Guzman Says:

The Bucs run defense was atrocious today. Any reasons why?

  81. Bring back Jameis j/k Says:

Thanks for the update but can we just drop all the political mumbo jumbo? AB was a nutcase before covid ever showed up.

  82. Lesko_Brandon Says:

I really hope and pray that the BUCS is just reserving their explosive plays for the playoffs….. please answer my prayers ….. 🙏 🙏 🙏

  83. David Says:

Everyone needs to stop thinking BA is at fault. He’s the best buccaneer coach we’ve probably ever had, that’s right I said. Because unlike Dungy in Gruden, he knows how to develop talent and surround himself with good coaches.

As for Brown, he absolutely needed to be let go. Quit on your team goodbye.

As for another team picking him up before the playoffs… No effing chance. The guy just had a meltdown. What playoff team is going to bring that into their locker room the week before the playoff start?

They just saved 1 million incentives and probably another million in incentives in the playoffs, it is going towards Godwins long-term contract b

  84. BullRacer Says:

Any bettor knows a BA beats an AB every time.

  85. JimmyJack Says:

Thank you Antinio for your year of service. You were a big part of our 2021title, nothing will ever take that away………That said, you really screwed us in 2022. You got some serious isuues and are clearly touched in the head……You were dancing and celebrating in the 1st Quater and kicking youself off the team in the 3rd. One of the wierdest players we ever had on the Bucs. Wont be remembered fondly by most.

  86. DG060 Says:

After his anger dissipates this guy is going to realize how unbelievably insane this little act was.
    You showed THEM right AB?
I’m thinkin right about now the horror of what he just did to himself and an entire organization is starting to sink in. Your legacy will forever be a shytty person and a quitter. Congratulations. Quite a feat.

  87. Bird Says:

Unfortunately, he is dunzo. Sucks. Im not sure we can win it all with just mike. Mike is one of my favorite bucs of all time. But his chemistry with brady is not as good as godwin , AB and gronk.

Sorry but they will double mike and play good DB on grayson and we in trouble. Not sure what is up with defense either. We cannot stop short cross patterns / RPOs. Congrats on 4th down stop by defense but geez

Brady drive almost 100 yards in a minute is LEGEND
He is doing it with back ups all around. Not sure whats up with rojo

  88. Oneilbuc Says:

We don’t need AB because of our defense and we have a offense that can play good enough to win a superbowl . All we we have to do is run the ball and be a balance offense. Brady needs to bring in the Patriots offense and I hope BA let him run his offense without BA interfering.

  89. Nick2 Says:

He not only retired mid game but he just declined any HOF induction as well. At least he did this now instead of during a playoff game. Maybe Tom can work magic again with 2 Hall of Famers and scrappy players!! If Tom can take us to the Suoer Bowl again it will be even incredible than last year. We need miracles and the GOAT gave us another one today!!!!!!!

  90. DG060 Says:

Some of us weren’t able to watch. Does anyone know what precipitated this epic tantrum?

  91. Jmarkbuc Says:

Don’t have to release him. Just suspend him for conduct detrimental… then he can’t be picked up.. not that anybody would.

  92. JR Says:

Shame….. GUY that does not get it. PERIOD!!!!
    One Less Ring.

  93. bucs4life Says:

We’re done. We’re gonna get humiliated in the playoffs with Grayson and Johnson.

  94. richbucsfan Says:

    All speculation at this point

  95. Bangkok Buc Says:

Have fun on dancing with the stars ya jacka$$

  96. adam from ny Says:

i hope this AB cat does some interviews after this madness…

it will be wild to listen to him speak…

have you seen the guys pressers…lol…he’s f’in grateful lol !

  97. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Rod

You got some weird takes, man. Arians gave AB a shot last year. BA is a two time coach of the year, and by all accounts a players coach. Personally I don’t particularly care for his style completely, but your weird, political doomsday altercation scenario is as unhinged as AB.

    And completely unnecessary.

  98. Denny Gay Says:

I wish this site and Fox NFL (why is Terry Bradshaw still employed?) would just report the news and stop trying to be funny and cute on every article.

  99. Eric Says:

not like Brady has ever won any super bowls without AB.

  100. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Anyone that defends Brown has never played a team sport at any level. I will also guarantee you that Brown is not going to be picked up by a playoff team this year. In fact, I would venture a guess that Mr. Brown just retired himself. He has no one to blame but himself. I do not care what anyone said to him. He is a mentally ill idiot.

  101. orlbucfan Says:

ABrown insulted this team on national TV before whoever bothered watching it. In all the years of the Bucs, including the Dark Ages, no player has ever pulled this crap. Brown is lucky, no one kicked his crazy azz. Only reason he was here was Brady. Bucs would have won without him last year. The team did not deserve this crap.

  102. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Alvin

    Absolutely.

  103. Alanbucsfan Says:

Just speculating, but maybe Coaches took AB out because he wasn’t effective with his ankle issue and AB just lost it.
Seems they took RoJo out in 2nd half for ineffectiveness as well.

  104. Cobraboy Says:

@Rod: It looks more like Brown quit than he got cut.

  105. stpetebucsfan Says:

    What JMARKBUC said!

  106. WTHeck Says:

No AB. No Godwin. No SB. Sorry, but that’s just the sad reality.

    Go Bucs (next year)!!

  107. adam from ny Says:

antonio brown is what we would call as kids in the 80s in nyc…

    we would say:

“yo that guy’s a dust patient”

he acts like he smokes dust…

    i kid you not

  108. captivajim Says:

HCGROVER is right;; I think AB was within striking distance of earning $333,000.00 per the incentive clauses in his contract..

have to question BA’a motives??? he never wanted AB to make up the loss in pay due to suspended games..

AB is now free to sign with any team……..we could see him soon ..

  109. T REX Says:

Not speculation…Arians pulled him from the game. Benched. AB then went nuts.

    This is per the Glazers.

    He probably has CTE already.

    Nothing but downhill from here.

  110. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

BA and the Bucs did not fire AB, AB quit the team. Big difference. Got get some help with your demons, bro, you ain’t right.

  111. Bring back Jameis j/k Says:

Bucs radio network just reported BA was trying to get AB to go back in the game and AB refused which led to all this BS. So those of you going after BA are way out in left field with your accusations.

  112. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Captivajim

Bucs will suspend him and bar him from one Buc. No one will be seeing AB, probably anywhere but a police blotter.

  113. admin Says:

    Denny Gay:

Joe could very easily do that. Write AP style and bore everyone to death. Joe would also be out of business in two years.

Every place that does what you suggest is openly asking for donations so they can keep the lights on. This is an opinion site. Always has been, always will be. Joe has zero intention of fixing something that is not broken.

Joe’s site is a major success for a reason.

  114. Jeagan1999 Says:

That’s the right call! As talented as AB is, he is a prima Donna and a selfish teammate! We are 2 weeks out from the playoffs! We don’t need his antics any longer! Evans, Gronk, Brate, Permian, Grayson, Johnson and Miller are an above average receiving corps…if we can just get Lenny back and healthy, we will be a force on the playoffs!

    Good move BA….Team First!

  115. geno711 Says:

AB in Pittsburgh. Was it AB or Tomlin?
AB in Oakland. Was it AB or Gruden?
AB in New England. Was it AB or Belichick?
AB in Tampa. Apparently to some of you it was Arians and not AB. Don’t get that thinking at least to start.

  116. Ed Says:

I hope Brown can get right with his mental issues. A shame a man with his abilities will be remembered for leaving his team in the middle of a game and behaving in a bizzare way.

He can still play football but can’t manage his own life.

  117. T REX Says:

    RIP AB

  118. Rod Munch Says:

Jmarkbuc – I’m saying I hope that didn’t happen. I was just creating a scenario, that I said was based on nothing, just a worst case scenario, where Arians does something stupid that makes Brady mad. I also said I hope that didn’t happen.

The point is we don’t know what happened yet. So before we tar and feather AB, maybe we actually find out what occurred.

If AB just went nuts for no reason and quit, then screw him, I’ll join the rabble. But the fact is, most people just join the rabble with no idea what happened, when they can literally just wait a few hours to find out what happened.

  119. UKBuccaneer Says:

Seems that AB wanted out of the game, BA tried to get him to stay in. BA gave him a few chances. AB refused. Then BA told him to get out. I don’t see how that’s BA’s fault.

  120. Beeej Says:

Really? AB has worn out his welcome everywhere he’s gone. So it’s BA’s fault?

    You need mental help.

  122. JOE LOMASEVICH Says:

Does arrogant, egotistical, narcissistic sound familiar. Just another spoiled multi millionaire. BOO HOO

  123. Capt.Tim Says:

We all knew he would melt down, sooner or later.
Just glad he helped us win A Super Bowl.
But hes Bat Sh*t crazy. We all have known it from the Beginning.

Brady will start making calls to WRs tonight

  124. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Cognitive Dissonance

Munch can you actually hear yourself?

“I was just creating a scenario, that I said was based on nothing”.. and this gem

“The point is we don’t know what happened yet.”

(BUT LET ME PUT FORTH A SCENARIO BASED ON NOTHING) while telling everyone…

”So before we tar and feather AB, maybe we actually find out what occurred.”

Only to wrap up with this….

“But the fact is, most people just join the rabble with no idea what happened, when they can literally just wait a few hours to find out what happened.”

When you literally had your political / vax conspiracy posted before all the players were even off the field.

The hypocrisy inside your echo chamber is insane.

  129. lambchop Says:

AB will probably get disciplined by the league, so he’ll miss games even if a team is dumb and desperate enough to bring on that cancer. His career is over. I supported the decision to keep him after the fake vaccine card, but you don’t quit on your team. That’s the equivalent of being a snitch. His career is over.
