“Costly Outburst”

January 2nd, 2022

Team Glazer

The Bucs found a little more salary cap room this afternoon — in addition to squeaking by the bumbling Jets.

The epic meltdown by Antonio Brown officially got him kicked off the team (see the JoeBucsFan home page). But that also means Brown missed out on a pile of contract incentives that he was on the cusp of earning.

Reliable contract-data site Twittered out the details after Brown left the building (assuming he’s not currently running around the MetLife Stadium concourse naked as Joe types this.)

In addition to the info below, Brown also had postseason incentives. He will earn none of them. That’s more money for Team Glazer to re-sign Chris Godwin and other free agents.

Joe wasn’t rooting for Brown to lose his mind, but there is a small upside.

The Bucs did not consider money. Trying to win games.
    Guy is a Basket case.

  6. David Says:

He would’ve easily gotten that between today and next week. So he cost himself 1,000,000+ the playoff incentives which are more than 1 million.
And he cost himself any type of big contract with another team if the Bucs didn’t resign him.
No idea what caused it but it’s obvious the dude needs help and/or meds.

  7. Red86 Says:

Well looks like we get to keep CG14. I wouldn’t cut AB now. Deactivate and bar him from One Bucs.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Just further evidence of how mentally disturbed AB really is. Anybody here thinks he might have CTE or a related syndrome? AB will probably party for a couple days in NYC and then come back to Tampa and pack his bags. I fell real sorry for the guy.

He’s definitely got mental issues. Hopefully, he can get the help he needs and move on with his life.

  14. Francisco Guzman Says:

If he was indeed release he will be someone else’s headache. Don’t be surprised if the chiefs or the packers take an opportunity with brown.

  15. unbelievable Says:

They should actually keep him in the roster just so another NFC opponent doesn’t sign him.

  23. Daddylonglegs Says:

Does anybody know what happened before his outburst that got him benched?

  24. adam from ny Says:

tom was very upset on the sidelines at one point, when he realized or found out about the AB meltdown, and was trying to hold it together…

tom has gotta be so pissed at this wacky AB dude – he extended the olive branch and basically forced an entire organization to act like a jar of olives for mental patient AB

  25. HC Grover Says:

Did BA bench sit him before he left?

  26. PhillyBuc Says:

    Buh-bye AB
Maybe the XFL will sign him

  27. crazybucs_CL Says:

relax, talk to him…. BA pissed him off…..bring him back. we need him.

  28. Go Bucs! Says:

    move on

  29. Francisco Guzman Says:

adam from ny because he knows the super bowl chances when out the window with no AB. Are these no name receivers going to step it up?

  30. Francisco Guzman Says:

PhillyBuc guarantee you the guy’s going to green bay or the chiefs and the media will love it. It hurts the bucs.

  31. SufferingSince76 Says:

AB TO SIGN WITH THE RAMS.

  33. dbbuc711 Says:

  34. JimmyJack Says:

I can give a crap less what it costs Brown. More important is what it cost the Bucs. We just lost 2 elite reievers between Brown and Godwin.

He let all the fans, players and the orginiaztion down. He was the guy we were all counting on to give us big plays in the playoffs helping win a Super Bowl………what a garbage teammate.

At least he was better then Djax.

  35. crazybucs_CL Says:

Glazers, be business smart, you know our chances to pass the first playoff gave diminished 50% without AB.
Think $$$, talk BA to shut up, and bring him back.
Remember, the ONLY thing that matters is WIN, WIN.
Cool down and bring him back.

  36. Darin Says:

Don’t think incentives count toward the cap. Moot point now tho. Man it would have been sooooo sweet had the MetLife security laid him out!

  37. crazybucs_CL Says:

Glazers, you were generous with JW, assaulting a female driver. Very good.
Now time to be generous with AB.
    The difference is big:
    JW was NOT helping Bucs.
    AB DOES help Bucs.

  38. HC Grover Says:

Pay the man. Good Grief it is chump change for a great reciever.

  42. Darin Says:

He’ll never suit up in the NFL again. Anyone thinks different is half as nuggets as ab

  43. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Darin, you’re right. AB held his own bizarre retirement party today. You dopes that think another team is gonna sign him for these playoffs are as off in the head as AB himself.

  44. orlbucfan Says:

I really was sorry the Aints nailed CD14 in the knee. It brings down his value in the NFL biznezz. Don’t insult him by comparing him to a fruitcake like Brown. At least he has a SB ring. I’m listening to Bucs Radio and Brady will be speaking regarding Brown. It oughta be interesting.

  45. Kgh4life Says:

Anyone know why he was benched in the first place?

  46. Destinjohnny Says:

  47. Jeffbuc Says:

Adam I read lips after Brady came off the field after the touchdown to brate while ab walked off. He walked up to an assistant and said something the assistant said he’s gone. Brady instantly walked to perriman and said something and perriman I read his lips said AB ok. All the television feed showed was the back of toms head. But he didn’t get pissed he went to the next man up and boosted him up probaly said your up ab is gone your turn.

  48. crazybucs_CL Says:

Don’t think incentives count toward the cap. Moot point now tho. Man it would have been sooooo sweet had the MetLife security laid him out!

I believe incentives reached this year always count against your cap next year. So that would have been a million less to sign Godwin.

  50. Listnfrmafar Says:

If BA was holding him back then F BA, this guy took his medicine and paid a LOT of $$ in the process. If any of your bosses did that to you so you wouldn’t get a bonus, you would walk to. So don’t be so quick to judge. Can’t wait for GB, Rams, SF or Philly pick him up and we can see just how good Bucs DB’s really are.

  51. Oneilbuc Says:

Crazybuc . Remember any quarterback would love to have the weapons Jamies had remember?? You see all yall narratives has been destroyed this year from 2019 and 2020 I thought Jamies was the only problem with this team ? Had to throw a few stones to all you who said the only reason why we won was because of Brady!! But to be honest we good 👍🏽 I don’t think we need AB to win a championship. We just have to be more balanced on offense . Our offense is good enough to win a championship with the defense playing good!! I still see a superbowl victory this year without AB!! Go Bucs !!

  52. stpetebucsfan Says:

He was brain dead and the opposite of a teammate.

Now if $$$ were the issue he’s not only a whore he’s a stupid whore.

Given when he blew up and the Bucs starting coming back is there really a doubt that AB would have had a couple of those targets.

Next week against the Panthers all he had to do was duplicate his late game against them.

Better we discover now than during the playoffs. I think we reimagine our offense. AB was great at taking the top off the D…Perriman and Grayson are only adequate.

But as pointed out on the tube when the playoffs hit teams will force us to through dink and dunk and take the no risk it offense to a different place.

Fortunately Tom Brady won six SB’s with the Pats largely dinking and dunking except when he had Randy Moss. Tom knows how to hit RB’s and again Bell is one of the best catching RB’s in the league and he’s good after the catch. Playoff Lennie can catch…there’s some new targets.

  53. Beeej Says:

I read a site that said Arians ordered him in, and he refused to go. (probably pouting about sitting in the first place) BA ordered him aGAIN, AB refused aGAIN, and BA told him to go to the locker room….which he sorta did

  54. Jeffbuc Says:

Kgh4life The pregame said him and mike would be on a pitch count. Mike handled it like a pro. And someone handled it like a child. I would be willing to bet he came out and was pissed saying I can play the whole game. Someone said something to him like yeah we know but we only want you playing this many snaps he probably got pissed saying your just keeping me from my bonus money and that coupled with getting blown out by the jets just reverted to his true self. I’m glad it happened today versus in the middle of a wild card playoff game. He was a big part in winning us a super bowl last year. But quitting on your team in the middle of a game is the worst thing an athlete can do. And it wasn’t like we were 4-12 and playing for nothing we are division champs with a home playoff game guaranteed

  55. Ed Says:

After today the last thing any team that is going into playoffs would do is bring a mentally unstable person into a locker room this late in the season.

Brown’s mental state is out of balance. He needs serious help.

Bucs will just have to play with their healthy receivers.

  56. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

The bittersweet part of this is that you have a mentally ill guy who will likely never play football again. It’s not a coincidence that we were 8-0 with him. The harsh reality is that we are not coached well enough from a game planning perspective to win a Super Bowl without him, especially with no CG14. I still have no idea what the defensive game plan was today.

This offense can be good without him and CG14, but nothing out of the ordinary.

  57. lambchop Says:

We need AB to win a SB? Has anyone watched the WRs Tom has had the first 6 SBs he’s won? It’s on the defense to step up their game and pull their weight CONSISTENTLY for an entire game. We have enough offense to win in the playoffs. TJ, Perriman, and Cyril will be more than enough, and Scotty Miller’s face is on a milk carton somewhere. Guy has one job and that’s a go route. If Playoff Lenny comes back, we’ll be in better shape offensively. We have M1k3, Gronk, and Brate as solid starters.

If the defense comes to play, we are fine. If we get bounced in the playoffs, it’ll be the defense that didn’t show up. They look tired and depleted. We need as many starters back as possible.
