The Silver Lining

December 19th, 2021

Nothing is good about the Bucs getting embarrassed tonight by their arch rival and breaking a nine-game home winning streak.

But there could be.

Nearly every championship team has a major turning point in its season. Look at the Bucs last year. In Week 15, the bumbling Falcons led the Bucs 17-0 at halftime in a must-win game for Tampa Bay on Dec. 20.

As the story goes, Jason Pierre-Paul went wild at halftime in the locker room and the Bucs came out smoking and marched to the Super Bowl.

Maybe, just maybe, the Bucs needed the loud wake-up call that was Sunday night’s brutal shutout by the Saints.

Perhaps the Bucs’ offensive line had gotten too full of itself and offensive coaches overestimated their depth at receiver? Maybe the Bucs needed a shakeup to see that Ronald Jones can still pound the rock effectively and tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard might be worth more of a look since Rob Gronkowski crashed landed off the high he was riding over the past few weeks.

Joe also thinks it can’t hurt to have Tom Brady forced into bringing fresh urgency and energy to his assessment of the offense’s strengths and weaknesses for the stretch run.

And perhaps the special teams gurus needed to see just how much Jaelon Darden struggles so they can reassess his 2021 role.

Yeah, Joe’s reaching for ways this groin-stomp loss can propel the Bucs to glory. There are many, but there will have to be a collective re-assessment of a lot of things offensively by Brady, Bucco Bruce Arians, Byron Leftwich and the rest of the offensive staff.

    Joe

You do realize that the Bucs offense hasn’t showed up since Halftime of the Bills game.

    You realize that Joe, right????

  2. Sketch813 Says:

The Darden experiment is over. Also Succop needs to be challenged this week.

  3. Francisco Guzman Says:

They’re faced with a must win against the panthers. I feel like you wanna avoid being the fourth seed.

  4. Swampbuc Says:

Um……there is only a fecal lining after this.

The whole league saw it, just like they saw Carolina run over the Bcs defense in the second half of MNF in 2008 — the same night that Antonio Bryant had the best receiving game in Bucs history.

That game was the end of our glory years. This game was different because it was a defense showing how to shut out the Bucs. After the Bills only allowed 3 from us in the second half.

This is over. Game over, man.

Any given sunday…lions beat the cards…lol

The return of the Den of Deppresion!

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Meh as Bucs fans………………. we’ll be alright.

  8. Bird Says:

Bucs anthem is soooo happy. He only comes out after a bucs loss. So he hasnt been on here in some time. Pretty sure momey let him post a few tonight. I mean you have to be some loser to be school girl giddy and be a “buc fan” over a loss. Pretty sure my farts have more value then Bucs anthem entire life

  9. BitcoinTom Says:

You guys are so freaking comedy. Hahahah last time I checkedwe are still a 10-4 team hahahaha. Now we need to treat every game like.its the last . Needed fire. Needed passion like last year run.

  10. BitcoinTom Says:

Bird bucs anthem is a fair weather fan. I can confirm.

  11. Swampbuc Says:

    At Panthers

    At Jets

    Host Panthers

With the pussoie effort the offense showed today, and Boron’s fetish with making Tom MVP — this is a likely 11-6 record we end with . Good enough for the division win but 4th seed.

What a waste for this bunch of overhyped underachieving pussies.

Bruce — maybe instead of your soft walkthroughs you need to put the pads on them and let the defense beat the ever living snot out of the offensive line — because apparently they think they can just go into a game and stand there and good things will happen.
    \ZERO!

  12. Keith Says:

    Brady retire after this year

  13. Bird Says:

    Bitcointom

Oh i know him/her/schmuck very well
When team struggled at times last year , he claimed brady was a bust decision and had a noodle arm . And then they won super bowl And he was so sad he went into hiding

  14. SOEbuc Says:

You haters that call yourselves Bucs fans are more pathetic than this loss. We had a horrid lose with Mike,Chris, and Lenny out most the game. Darden and Scotty are not able to break routes. Johnson is a solid player but it was a terrible night for everyone on offense, especially the GOAT. We’re 10-4 and you people are ready to jump off.

The defense played damn well. Whitehead had a big return for some secondary hope.

  15. Miller5252 Says:

It’s true that the Bucs haven’t done anything since halftime of the Bills game, if you don’t count the game winner to BP. Mr. 7 rings and possible MVP was getting beat up tonight and probably just got removed from the MVP debate after putting up 0 points. Watching Brady come out to play last week against the Bills fired up the whole team!! Tonight, they came out, it didn’t look like they came out, flat as all hell. If they wanna win and go to the super bowl, they need to find a way to come out with passion like the first half against the Bills.

  16. unbelievable Says:

    Here’s the real silver lining:

Every time we won the SB, we lost to the Saints in both regular season games.

But that is the ONLY silver lining…

  17. unbelievable Says:

Anthem isn’t a fan at all.

He only shows up after a loss. That’s called a troll.

  18. Swampbuc Says:

Miller you have a point — with the MVP out of reach maybe the offense will just try to win rather than look pretty. Of course, uglier than tonight, there isn’t.

  19. Swampbuc Says:

Oh and let’s thank Succov for missing his FG. That would have changed everything but, total team effort.

I hear Josh Lambo is available.

  20. RONDAE HOF 2022 Says:

    AINTS STILL MISS THE PLAYOFFS
    AND IF THEY SOMEHOW GO
THEY WILL LITERALLY BEAT KNOW ONE

  21. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

    Boron lol. Love it!

  22. Swampbuc Says:

Except the Bucs, Rondae — you do know that’s not how he spells it, right?

  23. Listnfrmafar Says:

Godwin, Evan’s, Lenny, Conners and LVD and who knows what happened to psycho Rojo.

  24. Ed Says:

    Take the Mulligan.

Aaron Rogers had his disaster game, the first game of the year; can’t remember the name of the opposing team though.

The Buccaneers won’t forget how to play football because of one, freak game.

And, with 13-4 for the season, plus the division win, I predict everyone will gladly take when the Saints defense (remember Green Bay’s first game) of this Sunday fades from memory with the Buccaneers running the table, from here on out, and into the playoffs.

  25. Listnfrmafar Says:

Lenny’s injury looked severe and it looked like Rojo quit on them tonight.

  26. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey List The “it’s all Brady” crap is out the window.
TEAM game, Losing the starters and what do you know Brady looks human.
Yes he is the GOAT, but this game was exhibit A. TEAM game
    TEAM game.

    GO BUCS!!!

  27. Swampbuc Says:

Ed — there are no mulligans. This isn’t the one off like Dungy getting blown out 45-0 by the Raiders.

This is a trend. The offense even with it’s starting skill guys cant do anything. The blueprint is out there for how to stop the passing attack. Clog the middle of the field and know that Boron Leftwurst is goint to let Tom throw for the first 15 plays so he can win MVP, therefore pass rush up the middle because Tom can’t outrun anyone on the perimeter. Even the Jets can beat us now.

Count your blessings if the Bucs finish 11-6.

  28. steele Says:

    Silver linings?

    1. Defense played well.

    2. 9-0 is not a wipeout, despite Saints physical superiority. THE GAME WAS WINNABLE at the end of 3Q. If they had cashed in instead of Brady fumbling it away, I believe the game would have turned around.

    3. The injuries were critical, and Brady does struggle mentally without his go-to guys.

Turning point? The last loss to the Saints was it, and they haven’t successfully turned it around. Does this coaching staff have anything left for the stretch run, or is this it? Are these players physical enough to match up with this blueprint, which all teams will replicate?

  29. Crickett Baker Says:

HELL, AT LEAST IT WAS BETTER THAN 38-3..Jaelon sucks canal water. They should try him out in another position, but I have no idea what he might be good at.

  30. bucschamps Says:

time to eat a large humble pie

  31. Steve M. Says:

    Where was Perriman ?

  32. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Yes, this could be the late season “wake up call” for our franchise.

I noticed that TB came out in a tea shirt for his post game presser. This spoke volumes to me about how he felt.

First seed for us (as well as for Arizona) is obviously not a consideration any more. Any chance of a “two-peat” appears to track through Lambeau Field. The Packers will likely not be caught by surprise this year.

Go Bucs!! You showed us how you could do it on the road last year. You will have to do it again!

  33. Chant Says:

I still would not like to meet washington nor the saints in the playoffs. We do not match up well with them for sone reason

  34. Bill Wheeler Says:

Rojo is a loser ran out of bounds rather than get first down and 21 looked bad/rusty?

  35. Crab legs & Ubers Says:

Least we forget… the Saints were/are pretty banged up also.
A lot of 2’ed stringers on both teams.

  36. Snook Says:

I said this last week when we should’ve lost to the Bills. This coaching staff needs the wakeup call.

  37. Papa Chick Says:

Maybe I’m disappointed about the loss, I was confident the BUCs would get the saints, but the saints had a game plan tackle the BUCs receivers and backs hard at their legs (legal as they say and I know it’s football but if you look at the film, it just didn’t seem like football). There’s tough and physical football but key BUCs players were hurt in this game, I believe intentionally. Gronk drop more balls than I’ve seen him drop, ever, worrying about the hit on his legs. Look at the game film.
    GO TB, GO BUCs

  38. BraumCarr Says:

I agree with Papa Chick. Also, NO is known for mystical practices. I’m telling you it was all VODOO, pure VODOO!!! TB12 will get #8 no worries not a one!

  39. Buffalo54 Says:

Succoup does this all the time! He needs to move over! And kick it down the middle.!!
