Edge Rusher Ndamukong Suh

December 27th, 2021

Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles loves to play mad scientist and that was on display yesterday (screenshot below) in the Bucs’ slaughtering of Carolina.

Remember that game-shifting Panthers interception in the first quarter?

Cam Newton got pressured, threw up a weak pass and Shaq Barrett couldn’t squeeze it. And then it fell into the hands of Jordan Whitehead.

Well, the pressure on the play came off the left edge. It wasn’t from Joe Tryon, he was rushing inside. And it wasn’t Anthony Nelson or Cam Gill. It was Ndamukong Suh with his hand in the dirt and bull rushing veteran Panthers right tackle Taylor Moton, a 2017 second-round pick.

Bowles showed six rushers at the line of scrimmage, but it was just a disguise.

The guys coming on a traditional rush were Suh on the left edge, Devin White inside him next to Tryon, and manbeast Vita Vea on the right edge. Suh was the winner and forced the pick.

Classic Bowles.

Bull rushing Ndamukong Suth off the left edge pushes the right tackle into Cam Newton.

Suhy and vea played great. Shaq too

That long run they had, there was a huge hole in our right side. I’m wondering was JTS not in his lane?

Love seeing Vita or Suh rushing from the ends on occasions. It’s a hard adjustment for tackles to make when facing someone with the size and power they have. Got to give a shout-out to Nelson for setting the edge and getting a good push yesterday.

    Nelson is slowly getting better.

Nelson is like Golston. Nelson is progressing slow but definitely progressing.

No coincidence that we get a healthy starting secondary and the D-line goes off. Creating turnovers and sacks in bunches. This is championship defense. The offense may be ailing but give Brady a company extra possessions and that usually leads to wins. Great job by the D the past few weeks.

Incredible defense the past two weeks. I would say that Whitehead has played his ass off. The man was playing assless as Tampa 2 Bucs on YouTube would say. Go Bucs

I love the BUCS. Even though they can’t beat a second rate team like the slimy saints. I don’t think they have a chance to repeat this year but I hope I have to eat my hat. Their defense is not as strong as last year and not just the db’s. The offense isn’t as impressive and it seems that the goat isn’t as sharp as last year. I just hope that Evans is strong in playoffs because AB and Evans would be hard to beat. I think Godwin was awesome and a huge blow. Fournette has been excellent as the catching back

How is that not holding on Tryon right there?? I have seen that crap all season long not get called!! Once the guy gets past you your can but turn your hips sideways to him and armbar him!! That is the definition of holding in that picture!!

    You can’t*

Beej your JTS hate showing. He was on the opposite side of the run. He is not the reason this defense couldn’t get itself off the field for so many games. People need to stop scape goating him for the defenses problems

JTS is a rookie. I listen on radio and turn the tube on for highlights. I saw him right in the scrum of a lot of those dline surges. He may not have notched a sack but he was helping cause chaos. He will improve and that speed will prove to be an asset. Great game by the D. They are now tied with the Vikings for first place in sack totals with 44.
