Defense Came To Play (Again)

December 26th, 2021

Bucs DC Todd Bowles.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is the Stinking Panthers. Joe doesn’t care.

The Bucs defense is roaring into playoff form. By holding the Stinking Panthers to two field goals, that makes it two straight games the Bucs have not allowed a touchdown.

The last time an opponent got a touchdown on the Bucs was Buffalo in the fourth quarter of the Bucs’ overtime win two weeks ago.

Don’t think having your secondary back is important? Yeah, Antoine Winfield was out, but Jordan Whitehead went bananas today. He was all over the field. Jamel Dean played good ball as did Sean Murphy-Bunting.

And the pass rush! The Bucs tied a franchise record with seven sacks today.

Yes, the defense is balling out. And this was without Lavonte David, Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett for roughly half the game.

Even without all the offensive firepower the Bucs are missing, if the defense continues to be this dominant, the Bucs have a strong chance to do damage in January and hopefully February.

That is impressive. Three washed up or never was QBs. But how many times has a Gino Smith or Jamarcus Russell or Daniel Brown made a name against them?

Seven sacks? It was it 8?

  2. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    Defense balled out.

  3. Bird Says:

Great job defense ! Whitehead was everywhere today and bucs need to really try and keep him

Queue orlbucfan coming to give credit to only defense.
She hate hates brady. He has contributed nothing to the bucs the last 2 years. Bucs win in spite of brady. 😂

I mean what a stank fish
    So smelly

  4. JimmyJack Says:

Proper callout on Whitehead Joe. He looked like an All-Pro player today. Not sure if his role chaged with Winfield out or if he was just posessed but it was an amazing performance today.

As I recall Whitehead was a major factor in our Title run last year. Hard to not be excited after seeing what he did today.

  5. firethecannons Says:

very pleased with defense–so much more fun to watch game when they are on! Whitehead player of the game!

  6. Swampbuc Says:

Defense won us the Super Bowl last season. Maybe with a few more conditioning practices and a few less walk around a, they won’t be gassed in the second half against a good team. Need them to beat anyone good.

BA needs to order Boron to run the football at least 25 times a game or he’s demoted to special teams assistant to look after the backup holder.

  7. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We might lose Bowles or Leftwich to other teams who need coaches.

  8. Destinjohnny Says:

    I’d hire todd before Byron

  9. Rod Munch Says:

It’s a good game… but it was the Panthers, who are completely inept, so I wouldn’t get super excited. But the defense has been playing much better as of late, and that’s what you want getting ready to go on a playoff run. Early this year they looked completely lost, now they’re looking like a competent veteran defense, and if they can get hot, and we get back most everyone on offense…

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Whitehead always shows up. He was a big loss. Definitely resign.

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bowles is padding his resume against shatty QB’s.

  12. Listnfrmafar Says:

Swamparse, defense won Bucs a SB last year? The offense averaged over 30 points per game
during the playoffs dipshat. The D balled out for sure but almost lost Washington. I guess you forgot that game, go get checked out for dementia you seem to have a selected memory. Shatbag!

  13. Swampbuc Says:

List – the Bucs are where sh!tty quarterbacks play against to revive their reputation.

  14. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Need LA to lose 1 more and we win out, 2 seed is ours…once we get out of the 3 way tie and it’s just Dallas and us we have the head to head. 2 seed would be great cuz we get 2 home games but in the end gotta win no matter where ya play.

    LFG

  15. Bucs&Bolts Says:

Whitehead has those elite genes Revis is sure to be proud

  16. Brandon Says:

It’s much easier on your defense when your offense isn’t allergic to running the ball. Bucs won the time of possession game know in the first half and kept D off the field. It’s no secret that a running game helps the D.

What exactly is your problem?? You can bet your smelly rear I’m giving kudos to the Defense. Let’s see, they had 5 sacks last week against NOLA plus turnovers. The Saints could only score 3 FGs. That’s with Brady getting sacked 4 times and throwing 2 picks plus Bucs losing Godwin, Evans and Fournette. This week the Defense got 7 sacks. The secondary is getting healthy which is getting the the attention of OCs of the teams Bucs will be playing. 12 sacks. Has another team done that in back-to-back games?

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brandon, agreed, I am a big Brady fan but I got to believe throwing 40-50 times a game has to wear on the QB and receivers. I actually was impressed with the gameplan today. Must be interviewing time of year again.

Is it just me or has SMB really elevated his game since his return?

Im a buc fan. I give kudos to the team / players / offense / defense
So not sure why you reposted that. Its all over the place.

You hate brady. Soooo obvious . Just will continue to point that out
The winning-est qb of all time goes to the losingest franchise in all 4 sports and wins a superbowl in first year. And wins nfc south the next which we havent done in how many years?

But according to you …he sucks. 😂

    What else you got?

Oh and you point out how hard teams are playing against us?
    Who is the yahoo?

  22. Swampbuc Says:

The CBs when healthy (last year, 2019) have proven their worth when healthy. In analysis, probably the most important group to have healthy to insure success. They were ridiculous today.

  23. Listnfrmafar Says:

Swamparse, yes they did, but let’s not put them in the HOF just yet, Newton can’t throw over 20 yds and Darnold did have a little success and Taysom Hill is not a NFL QB.
