Coach Tom Brady

December 29th, 2021

Recognizes coaching talent.

While Jets coach Robert Saleh gives off all the vibes of an NFL coach way over his head — he’s a defensive guy yet his defense is the worst in the NFL — it seems Saleh can recognize coaching talent. At least when it comes to players.

Today when Mr. Clean spoke to the hostile, no-sh!ts-given New York media, a Bucs fan/cynic might say Mr. Clean nailed what’s going on with the Bucs, specifically quarterback Tom Brady, as picked up by long-time Jets reporter Rich Cimini of BSPN.

Joe doesn’t think Mr. Clean is all that off base, with all respect to Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians. Anyone reading this think Brady doesn’t have a major say into the offense?

The Bucs would be fools to shut out Brady from brainstorming sessions when it comes to crafting a gameplan.

And we have seen Brady shake off incoming plays like he did in the season-opener against Dallas, violently shaking his head back and forth after a play facing the Bucs’ bench as NBC on-field microphones picked up him hollering, “No!”

We all know how Brady works with his teammates, especially offensive teammates, with tips and pointers to help their game.

Then there was last week when Brady put the brakes on a Tyler Johnson motion play to have him stop before he got flagged for illegal motion.

Yeah, Brady is very much a coach who plays. Cool that Mr. Clean picked up on that.

Maybe Saleh gets fired and can be our DC

  2. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

Great take on the greatness of our QB when it comes to using his grey matter! Let’s appreciate it now, he won’t be doing this for much longer!

  3. Buc50 Says:

Hopefully we won’t need a new DC.

    Mr Clean…. Lmao… I just can’t stop laughing

J mark buc why would we get rid of bowels n get this guy who has the worst defense in the league at the moment ?

  6. Listnfrmafar Says:

Saleh may not be a great HC but he is a hell of a DC. Look what he did in SF. I would trade Bowles in a heart beat for this guy, I can only imagine what he could do with Bucs talent. One of the main reasons TB12 came to Tampa was because his input would be valued and appreciated. Never got that in NE.

He forgot to say what a player GM would look like. Gronk, AB, Lenny, Sherman

  8. Jmarkbuc Says:

Did you get all that “#1bucfan”

Sometimes coordinators don’t make good HC’s.

There was this guy named Dirk Koetter….

As much as I love my Bucs this Defense could be much better, and Saleh is a hell of a DC. Think big picture.

  9. Buczilla Says:

Brady is the best NFL player ever regardless of position and it’s not even remotely close anymore. Mr. Clean is Mr. obvious too.

  10. Morris Steelman Says:

I know this! These superstar rosters are not consistent. If these heartless wonders don’t put some mojo lotion on and tighten up, My boy Tom Brady is going to be a SF.49er next year!

  11. Tim in PSL Says:

Just like Wade Phillips, Norv Turner. Great coordinators, bad head coaches.

  12. ATLBuc Says:

Joe, what are the chances that Brady stays on as head coach after he retires from the field?

  13. ATLBuc Says:

Know his competitive nature I would not be surprised if he wants to challenge Bellicheat as a coach.

  14. Jmarkbuc Says:

    ATLbuc

My guess is 0 %. The fun is in playing.

This Brady as “coach” phenomenon is not a bit surprising to we old dudes.

In the 50’s when I was in grade school the QB’s called their own games. In fact during the broadcasts commentators would point out the skill and success or lack thereof of the QB’s game calling.

And the greatest QB’s were on the same wave length as their team. They knew what to call and how to get the very best matchups as well as motivate their teammates.

When you watch Brady..especially this season when he chugged for those first downs I thought of all the old dudes like Johnny U or Bobby Layne who couldn’t really run but were such competitors like Brady if needed they’d put their heads down even though they ran like they were in molasses.
